Black Psycho Clover
Chapter 1
One Soul To Five
It was dark when the Psycho Rangers began to open their eyes, eyes filled with clarity for the first time in their lives, they were still psycho, Black could feel it in his mind, and his heart was still as black as coal, but he had no obsession for the black ranger anymore, probably because he's dead. He heard a groan and looked over to see Psycho Yellow begin to rise as well, next to her was Psycho Blue, turning his head to his other side he saw Psycho Red and Pink, both were also slowly rising as well, "anybody get the number of that truck that hit us, I didn't," Blue commented.
"No, but I'm sure if we're ever resurrected again we'll see it coming straight at us," Red said back as he rose and found that they were in a large throne room with several large thrones all around them, "great, I guess this is where our final judgment is gonna take place, fan-fucking-tastic."
"It could be worse," Yellow said as she sat up but stayed sitting down for a while longer as Red turned to look at her, "we could be having to go to the same place as that insane bastard," she pointed to Blue, "we all know he's going to the worst place of all of us," she pointed out to them.
"Fuck you bitch," Blue stated back as he fully rose to stand at full height and looked around, that was when shapes began to form on the thrones, "and look alive Psychos, we've got company," he got in a ready position for a fight, the others just got on guard and watched.
"There is no need for you to start fighting Psycho Rangers," a booming voice resounded as one of the shapes on a throne took shape and finally revealed itself to be a large bald head, it's voice held wisdom from countless years and was soon joined by other forms as well.
"Though we really shouldn't be surprised considering who they are," an older woman's voice came in, she was a woman dressed in all white with a large golden M on her forehead, she gave off an almost motherly vibe, though the Psychos didn't know this for they never had a mom.
"You look relieved that you never used them against your ranger team Mystic Mother," a large megazord said from another throne, comprised of a buffalo as the legs, black lion for the torso, condor for the neck and head, jaguar for the left arm and saw shark for the right arm.
"If it is not too much of a bother," the head stated and interrupted the two before they had a chance to start anything, "can we get to why we have called the Psychos here in the first place," he suggested and turned to look at the still tense Psychos that didn't move a single inch.
"Of course, I am Animus," the large megazord introduced himself, "this is the Mystic Mother to my right," the woman gave a slight bow of her head to them from her seat, "and to my left is someone from your past and who you have yet to meet since his ascendance is new."
The floating head took over from there, "my name is Zordon of Eltar, newly appointed god of the Power Rangers and guardian of wisdom," the now named Zordon introduced himself and the Psychos all got the same feeling in their stomachs, one of dread and utter damnation.
They all knew what was coming now, had to be their own judgement, and who better to cast it than the being that their side held prisoner for so long, "fine, let's just get this over with okay, we all know we're going to hell, let's not drag this out any longer than needed," Blue commented.
"You misunderstand Psycho Rangers, you are not going to be taken to heaven or hell, for you have a job to finish back in your home dimension," Animus told them as the Mystic Mother raised her hand and began to form a mirror from nothing, soon an image was shown.
It was of a conference of some kind where Dark Specter was giving something shiny with a bit of black to Astronema, "back in the days of darkness, Astronema received a soul that harbored a demon, it was useless to many as it had the power to negate and/or reflect all magic. Both attacks and defense was useless against the demon, you can see where this was an issue for me as my main power was that of magic, as it is now," she said and the picture changed to their creation, "the soul was split into five separate parts, and placed in new vessels."
"These vessels would later become known as the evil Psycho Rangers, yourselves," Zordon continued and the picture changed to their first fight with the space rangers, "Dark Specter took your soul from your world and gave you over to evil to be used as weapons."
"After Psycho Pink destroyed the pink galaxy ranger it was decided that a council was to be held and we were to decide if you five should continue your destiny that was denied to you in your home world, or send your souls to oblivion," Animus finished.
"The vote was to allow you to enter back into your world on the condition that you join the organization known as the Magic Knights, and also work your way up the ranks to best aid in the coming conflict that is to befall that land," Zordon informed the Psychos.
The Psychos all looked at one another, having a mental conversation that basically ended with them having Psycho Red demand, "if what you say is true, than show us how we died in that other world, show us what happened," now it was the councils turn for silent debate of the mind. It was finally decided and the Mystic Mother waved her hand again and soon the mirror appeared again and began to fade into a sun high in the air, it was like a camera zooming out as it covered an entire village, with a large monstrous skull just behind it, and a statue on top of the skull.
In the past
In the village of Hage, on the outskirts of the Clover kingdom in the Forsaken Realm, there lies a boy, a magicless boy who holds no power at all, no potential, and nothing special about him, a plain looking boy with hair that is so blonde that it's almost white, though he is really fit for his age. The boy's name is Asta, no last name, he is an orphan boy that lives in the village, even among the orphans he is looked down upon because of his lack of magic, by most in the village at least, he is often compared to fellow orphan Yuno, and is constantly told that he will never be as great as him. He stood strong though and continued to push himself in physical training and became strong, yet he was still looked down upon no matter what he did, despite his lack of magic and increasingly number of insults and lack of encouragement from everyone he ignored it all to achieve his goal. There is a title, given to the most powerful mage in the kingdom, as well as proven they have what it takes to lead, that was his goal, Asta would swear up and down that he would reach it and said so with so much confidence that a few times people forgot that he was magicless.
One day was especially hard on him, he worked hard that day for little reason except to push himself, and after he got done with his morning chores, he decided to head straight for his training spot, it was on the way that he heard people talking around him as if they didn't care he could hear. "Have you heard, that loud kid still thinks he can beat Yuno, doesn't he know how powerful the pride of Hage is," one random individual said as he saw Asta walking to his training spot after working all day, it hurt to be honest, it always did hurt when he was told things like that.
"Yuno is the best with magic, I can't understand why anyone would try to go against him, even after everyone got their grimoires and all he got was a dirty little thing, how sad for him to chase something he'll never have," the woman he was talking to commented back to him.
There was more, so many more comments like those two, it was thrown at him both day and night, everyone praised Yuno and ignored him, that was his life in Hage village, the backwater, out in the boonies little town where he's been his entire life, the place he's called home since birth. Yet it was starting to get to him, he's been training for five months since he got his grimoire, and life in the village has gotten harder it seemed, he's gotten stronger, but nobody believed in him, except Yuno, but at this point he couldn't tell if it was true faith or just plain pity.
It was true, though he now knew that he didn't have magic, but did have anti-magic, yet still comparing it to Yuno's always hurt, seeing the differences in power always hurt, and yet he couldn't let it get to him, because if he did then he would falter again, he promised he wouldn't do that. So he ignored them and kept walking to his spot, even after encountering more people who looked down on him, and more, and more, he kept it together until he got to his training spot inside the skull of the demon the first wizard king defeated, it was there that he broke down. The tears began after he passed the last person in town, but now that he was alone he screamed in outrage and sadness, was there nobody who believed in him, was there nobody that would at least lie to him and tell him that he could do it, no, because they focused only on Yuno.
Asta had to do something before he blew up on everyone someday, so he brought out his grimoire and began to hit tree after tree, swinging away like an overzealous logger until it was about to topple over, and then he slammed his hard fist into the tree, knocking the entire thing over. He grinned, that was one thing that Yuno would never beat him in, his physical ability was off the charts with no need for magical enhancements, something that he accomplished and nobody could take that achievement away from him, no matter who insulted him.
Asta was about to leave for another tree when something caught his eye, it was something shiny and hidden in the tree, it looked like a rose, but a dark purple rose that gave off mana of dark intent, along with the figure that stood behind the boy, it was just a shadowy form though. He reached down and tried to pick it since he couldn't tell the mana coming off it was dark as he couldn't sense the mana, but the rose pricked his singer, it stung as pricks usually do, but this time was different, this time he could feel his finger start to go numb before to traveled. The dark figure behind him caught the boy's body as the numbness quickly traveled to his entire body and soon reached the boy's heart and mind, sending him fast asleep, along with beginning to drain his life-force so that the soul was easier to extract and turn over to Astronema.
Present
The Psychos were pissed now, to think that they had followed her for so long when she had their soul and twisted it into what they were like now, Blue just wanted revenge, Red and Pink wanted the deaths of everyone that used them, only Yellow asked, "did anyone care we died?"
"That is not a simple thing to answer," Zordon replied back and turned to Mystic Mother, "show them, but only as we explain," she turned the mirror to the present and what was going on now at the church their soul was from, "this is the church your soul is from. At the moment they are having dinner while each discussing the fact that Asta is missing and any reports on it that they've heard, but there is none," the scene in the mirror changed to fit his description, the Psychos read the lips and found the words truthful.
"Since the boy had no other places he went and no body discovered they have gone under the assumption he ran away and Yuno may run into him when he leaves for the capital," Animus informed them next as the picture turned to what Yuno was saying.
"However the disappearance was three months ago and many of the villagers have already given up hope of finding him, so there are those that mourn and those that have yet to give up hope on finding Asta," Mystic Mother told them next as she dispersed the mirror.
"So you're sending us back not to reconnect but to fight with them, hm," Psycho Black hummed in thought as he turned his back on them all and began to think on this himself as the Psychos began to discuss it as well, though more openly until Psycho Black spoke up. "ENOUGH," he shouted at them to get them back on track, he turned his attention the gods before them and asked, "what happened to the demon that was within us, I imagine Dark Specter didn't want us to have that much power to possibly rise up against him one day."
"You are right Psycho Black, he told Astronema to seal the power of the demon within your armor, making it anti-magic at its best, very little can break through it magic-wise, this is also an advantage given to your weapons as well," Mystic Mother informed. 'There is another advantage as well, you did not know this but the grimoire you had was a five-leafed clover, in that land there is a saying that in three live hope, love, and integrity, inside a fourth is good luck, and in the fifth leaf holds the devil himself. After years of the saying being shortened there, very few people remember of the fifth leaf and its significance, but you shall have the full knowledge of what the five leaf means when the time is right, telling you before will only bring about paradoxes.'
"Then we are able to go to the world as is," Psycho Black stated and looked to the others to disagree, they were being given another chance at life, and he'd be damned if they ruined this because of where they're going and what they'd be doing when they get there, "when do we leave?"
"As soon as all of you are ready, the Mystic Mother will send you to your home world, though I am sorry that we cannot return any of your previous memories to you, and as such it will be your choice on whether or not to tell anyone who you are," Zordon stated.
"Don't worry about it, we'll have no way of convincing them who we were anyways," Pink stated as they watched the Mystic Mother wave her hand and a portal formed, it was a large archway made from shimmering water and as such the inside of the portal was a shimmering mess.
The Psychos began to step through it and into their world, the last being Psycho Black that was stopped by Animus's voice, "Psycho Black," he turned back to look at the ancient zord deity, "you may have already realized this but you are innately different from the others."
Zordon took up the conversation now, "while they are not obsessed like before, they are still unpredictable and filled with hate, while you were never as obsessed and are like tempered steel, a heart that is black and mind sharper than a raiser, they will need that."
"You will have to watch over them and protect them from themselves, try to contain their bloodlust, but also help them to adjust to being a force for good for once, for that is what you will be Psycho Black, you five will be a force for good," Mystic Mother finished.
Psycho Blacked looked to the three deities and then back to the portal in thought before looking back at them, "there is not much I can promise, but I'll make sure they do what is needed, I'll promise you that," then he walked through the portal, leaving the deities alone.
Zordon spoke up soon and said, "this is going to cause us a huge headache, I can feel it," the statement was met with hums of agreement from the other two, "we'll keep an eye on them until we're sure they'll fail, or neglected what we told them."
Clover Kingdom
When Psycho Black walked out of the portal, he was standing in a giant skull, and standing impatiently at the entrance was the four other Psycho Rangers, leading was of course Psycho Red, "what took you so long, got a lecture for being so damn sullen all the damn time," he asked.
"Actually they told me to at least keep you from going on a rampage," Black replied back and looked at their helmets that refused to look his way, dammit, "you idiots already did something, didn't you," what he got was a bound and gagged red haired boy looking frightened at them.
"This little guy here was here when we got here, so we bound and gagged him before he could scream," Blue informed as he put his boot on the kid's back and pressed down hard, "I'm sure we can squeeze this brat for information, and then make sure he won't tell, a simple solution."
With that implication Black walked up to Blue and punched the top of his head to get him off the kid, he then turned to the boy, "if I untie you, you'll scream won't you," a nod was his answer, with a sigh he turned to Yellow, "why didn't you stop this, could have done without a kidnapping here."
Yellow was leaning against a tree with her arms crossed as she looked at the scene, "I decided that I wasn't their mother and this was a good way to get information fast and easy, only problem was the aftermath of it where Blue just decided to kill the boy, though I'm not against the idea."
Black shook his head before grabbing the boy by the throat with his left hand and grabbed his forehead with his right, the boy struggled for all of five seconds before he passed out from the pain, "there, sending the data now I leaned now," he said as he concentrated and sent the info.
"Boy didn't know anything useful, guess we're back to square one," Pink stated after going through his memories and not finding anything they needed, just some drivel about that Yuno boy already left the day before on his way to the royal capital being the latest thing that happened.
"Are you that much of an idiot," Red asked Psycho Pink as the others just looked at her like she was an idiot, "the boy knew many things we need to know, for one thing he knew that today is the day of that magic knight entrance exam, knew that these people's main weapon is vulnerable."
"Even if he didn't know it, hehehe," Blue giggled as he stepped over to where they had been when they were originally taken, there was nothing left around the place, but he took out his axe and continued until he got to a random tree and began carving the outline of a book on it, a grimoire.
"A grimoire is a sacred thing to these mages, but for us they're a clear weakness that anyone could see if they weren't tied down by their reliance on magic," Yellow said as she crossed the clearing and with a few shots also put on a three leaf clover on the grimoire outline as well.
"Now we're talking, we know where the capital is and how to get there, exam begins in five hours, more than enough time to get there and get some intel as well," Black told them before dropping the boy and walking to the entrance of the demon skull and looking out into the distance, at a church.
"Then we all should do some things, once we get there I want Yellow to find out everything about the state of affairs around there, Blue and Pink I want scouting the venue where the exam will be held, Black and I will be walking around and find out what all we need to get in," Red ordered. With that command given they all left at their top speed to head for the capital so that they can take the magic knight entrance exam, they traveled together at speeds too fast for the human eye to follow, they planned to separate when they get within the capitals boundary.
Royal Capital
They got there with four and a half hours to spare, they spent four of those hours collecting information, Yellow got too much information to transfer everything by mouth, so she telepathically sent the information as she acquired it, and by the time she was done, it was time. Blue and Pink scouted the venue for the exam, it was a small arena that wasn't anything special, though there was nine highchairs overlooking the arena, it provided the perfect place to watch all the participants, they were clearly for people important to the exam in some way. Red and Black easily found out what they needed, nothing, they didn't need any identification papers, didn't need any paper inviting them, hell, they didn't even need a grimoire like everyone assumed, just had to state they didn't have a grimoire because they had no magic. They made their way to the exam area after conversing about the information, it was mainly just Psycho Blue ranting on how they had to sit and watch a freaking arena for a few hours, and Psycho Pink correcting the story on what he did to the highchairs overlooking the exam. They entered the entryway to the exam as a group walking as one and looking at all the people waving at them and cheering them on, actually cheering, telling them good luck taking the exams, not that it was needed, but it did start something, "we're getting cheers?"
"Well they do hold magic knights in high regards," Psycho Black responded to Psycho Blue's question, "those who take the test are looked on favorably as well, though I find that thought disgusting," he commented as he looked straight ahead and Psycho Pink got an idea to try out.
Tentatively she raised her right hand and waved to a person in the crowd, a small little girl held by the hands of a tall red haired girl, the little girl waved back even more enthusiastically now and Psycho Pink almost smiled, almost being the key word since her helmet was her face right now. "Seems you have a fan now," Psycho Yellow spoke up from behind and made her jump, "well don't let it go to your head, we can still fail and that wave won't mean a damn thing if that happens," Yellow shoved past her since they stopped and the rest of the group went on ahead.
The Psycho rangers all made it to the entrance easy enough and then made it in line, a man was there checking grimoires, but they knew they didn't have to worry, "there we go, you're number 163, next," he called and the next in line brought out his grimoire for the checking and gave his name. The Psychos weren't paying attention beyond that, "Yuno from Hage, all right and your grimoire," the man gasped and got others to look on as well, "a-a…four-leaf clover," that got the Psychos to look their way, they hmphed and ignored it, "right, you're number 164, next in line."
Yuno stepped away and Psycho Red stepped forward, "you can call me Psycho Red," the man wrote it down and put his hand out but didn't feel a grimoire, "don't have one, don't need one, never saw in the rules needed one either, so let's just get on with this, what number am I?"
The guy sighed, there was always a few that didn't think they needed their grimoires, "Psycho Red is 165, next," they went in order from there, "Psycho Black is 166, Psycho Blue is 167, Psycho Yellow is 168, and Psycho Pink is 169," he gave them their numbers and the Psychos left.
Though they didn't think that some freaking birds would start buzzing around them, and there was a lot of them, "what the fuck is up with these birds," Blue had enough and swatted one away, hard enough to send it smashing into stone pillar and leave cracks in the stone, killing it.
The other birds got the message and flew off from them, "cool down Psycho Blue, they're just anti-birds, mainstays of the exam hall, the lower your magic power, the more birds you attract, and since we have none, they all come to us," Psycho Yellow told her blue comrade mockingly.
"Shut it bitch," Psycho Blue ordered before releasing killing intent on the birds to drive all birds away, it worked and they all left the exam arena as more people came in and they finally were close to starting, just had to wait for the captains of the squads that would give the exam.
In came the group of diverse looking people, from silver to red and even purple hair, all wearing clothing of various colors to signify they're the head of that squad, all of them radiated strength and power, but the Psycho's first thought upon seeing them was, 'I can take them.'
First to sit was the captain of the Silver Eagles, Nozel Silva, first thing the Psychos noticed about him is the big braid in his hair that hangs right in front of his face, "seriously, how does that guy see with that thing in his face," Psycho Pink asked out loud and nobody had an answer to that.
Next was Fuegoleon Vermillion, captain of the Crimson Lion Kings, "well it looks like Psycho Red and this Fuegoleon has some things in common, like powers, though I wonder if he's as big of a hot-head," Psycho Yellow's comment got a middle finger from Psycho Red for the insult.
The captain of the Green Praying Mantises was next, named Jack the Ripper and they could see why, "bastard looks like a serial killer, wonder how many people he's cut down with that severing magic of his, should be fun to fight," Psycho Blue wondered out loud before giggling at the thought.
Next was the captain of the Blue Rose knights, Charlotte Roselei, "talk about easy on the eyes, if anyone locks that down before me I might just kill the bastard and see if she can handle my fire in her roses," Psycho Red instantly took a liking to this particular captain with her looks.
Gueldre Poizot was next to take his seat, he's the captain of the Purple Orcas, "I think someone needs to make a few calls, first to the banks to watch their wallets and then to the beach, an actual Orca is missing and posing as a captain," Psycho Black joked at the expense to the captain.
"Is this bitch sleeping, how lame," Psycho Pink brought attention to the next captain, Dorothy Unsworth of the Coral Peacocks, who was indeed sleeping while walking around and standing up, as if that wasn't an impressive feet in of itself, though to the Psychos it wasn't.
Rill Boismortier was young, way too young to be the captain of the Aqua Deer, but being 19 years old and being a captain is a great accomplishment, "this one looks like he could use a few more years and hair on his chest, has his balls even dropped yet," Psycho Blue wasn't impressed though.
When they were seated, then out came two more captains, one was large and bulky with a cigarette in his mouth with a look that screams of boredom and no interest with any of this, "Captain Yami Sukehiro of the Black Bulls, also known as the God of Destruction," Psycho Black stated.
Then came in the frontrunner of the captains who could be the next wizard king, "Captain of the Golden Dawn, William Vangeance," Psycho Yellow stated as she noticed what he was wearing, "what the fuck kind of helmet is that, looks like a peacock whipped its ass off on his head."
"Attention Examinees," Vangeance called out to them all, "thank you for waiting, I will be administering this year's entrance exam," he stated before pulling out his grimoire, it automatically opened to a page, "Magic Tree's Descent," that is where the magic happened. Literal storm clouds appeared from nowhere as a light shone from above, most had to cover their eyes while all the Psychos did was grunt at the incoming magic, tree roots slowly descended from above and out from them came something the Psychos didn't expect, brooms, fucking brooms. Vangeance closed his grimoire and explained, "you've waited long enough, the time has come, let the entrance exam begin, in just a few moments we'll begin the first in a series of tests, the nine magic knight captains will be serving as your judges, selections will be done after these tests. If chosen you are in, if more than one squad chooses you, you will decide which you would like to join, however, if you are not selected by any squad, that means you have been deemed unqualified to join the magic knights, and your first test, use the broom given to fly." There was some murmuring in the crowd, "a mage who is in control of his or her magic power can do it on instinct alone, it is our most basic way to get from one place to another, if you can't fly on a broom then you are not worth our time, enough talk, now begin."
"Well that was a load of nothing," Psycho Blue stated before tossing the broom behind him, he chose to walk up to the judges, "hey jackasses," some didn't like that clearly, "we don't need brooms to fly because we have our own way," he shifted to his light form and went to the top.
The other Psychos did the same to show what they could do as well since Blue already had to make a statement like that, "so I don't think conventional methods will work with us," Psycho Red suggested to them before laughing at the test, a flying trick for transport, who cares about that.
"I see," Fuegoleon stated up to them to let them know they've been heard, "thank you for telling us, since you have your own method of transport that does not drain your magic then you are exempt from this challenge," he stated authoritatively and went back to watching the others.
The Psychos all jumped down and landed safely down on the ground and just watched the others fly around like the children they were, then Psycho Black noticed something out of the corner of his eye, it was the Silver Eagle's captain talking down to one who appeared related to the man. Perhaps a little sister or a daughter, he looked old enough to have one, but it was more likely that it was a little sister than a daughter, he didn't look old enough to have a daughter as old as the girl was, so it was clear that she was his little sister, who he was being quite mean to.
"These dumbasses rely too much on their magic and not physical ability," Psycho Red stated as he watched them all participate in the test, "they judge solely on magic power and magic power alone, that just pisses me off," he felt like he needed to crush something, an outlet to his anger.
"Everything pisses you off," Psycho Blue noted before perking up at an idea, "why don't we just go ahead and target some people, make sure they know what they do is wrong," he turned his voice mocking, "we are supposed to be the good guys after all, why not do the right thing now?"
"That'll show 'em," Psycho Pink stated confidently as she looked around and spotted someone she thought might be a good match, "I'll pick that guy over there, he has the look of a stuck up rich boy," she chose a blonde haired young man by the name of Salim de Hapshass.
"That'll hardly be a challenge," Psycho Yellow argued before looking around, she soon spotted the target she'd fight, "I'll fight that Yuno boy from Hage, time to show people that even a four leaf is no match for Psychos," she had a clear idea in mind, they all did, humiliation was on their minds.
"You know what, I don't think I'll go after an examinee," Psycho Blue pretended to ponder as he kept them waiting for what he planned to do, "I think I'll actually go for a squad member, maybe give my color a good test… yes, that's what I'll do, I'll go for the tan chick behind blondie up there."
"Ha, if we're picking that way then I'd go with that Fuegoleon guy, but I think I'll show something else, I'll see what that golden guy is hiding under that ugly ass mask of his," Psycho Red stated with his usual cocky attitude, he turned to Psycho Black, "you gonna actually participate?"
The Psycho in question actually chuckled, "you know what, I think I will show these people a thing or two, but instead of simply going after one, I'm going to actually humiliate two mages at the same time," the others just watched in almost fascination as Psycho Black walked off and away.
The next test was the Magic Power Test, which you simply shot a blast of magic power at a stone slab target, some of the slabs were turned to dust, some burned, some were filled with holes, and others were scorched, scratched, and just chipped, then you have what the Psychos did with it. Psycho Pink took her slab and her target's slab and put them against one another with a swift motion karate chopped the two in half, Psycho Yellow began to play hackie-sack with hers before kicking it so hard it soared past Yuno's head and into the wall behind him, she waved at him after. Psycho Blue produced his Psycho Axe and jumped on his slab of stone and began chopping away at it like a mad logger and reducing it into nothing but rubble with only a few swings, Psycho Red just went over to his slab and crushed it with his bare hands like it was nothing at all. Psycho Black is the only one that actively did anything against one of his targets, his used his powers over rock and earth to break the slab apart and make a piece seem to randomly jet out and launch directly at Nozel Silva, captain of the Silver Eagles, who caught it easily.
"Terribly sorry about that, with so much power at my disposal," Psycho Black apologized as he made a small column of rock form up to his hand, "I forget to be careful at times and the power just," he broke the column from the ground and crushed it with one hand, "slips," he finished.
Next was the Magic Power Control Test, it was fairly simple, make your magic come out and hit a target, some did tricks, some went straight, some barely tried, and others almost hit other examinees, stone pillars that weren't doing anything, and just randomly shot at the sky. Psycho Pink used her Psycho Bow and barely even looked when she fired an energy arrow and hit through multiple targets at once, Psycho Yellow also barely tried when she fired her Psycho Sling and shot just as many targets as her fellow Psycho, they both had it slightly better then others. Psycho Blue didn't like this event, but that didn't mean he couldn't have a little fun with it, he used his Psycho Axe like it was a throwing hatchet and took out multiple targets in one as well, turning them into blocks of ice just for good measure, afterwards he flipped everyone off. Psycho Red used his Psycho Sword and hopped from one wall to another and each time he passed a target he sliced the target in two and this way he got multiple targets down as well, even shredding one and then letting it sprinkle on the captain of the golden dawn. Psycho Black passed to his targets the same way as Psycho Red but instead collected all the targets and with a motion slammed his Psycho Rod down on the entire stack right in front of the Silver Eagles captain before backflipping off again and standing straight up like nothing happened.
The Creation Magic Test was next, each examinee was to make something out of their magic, whatever it was they felt like making, they were to make it, for a few they made sculptures of things they liked, some made the symbols to the squads they wanted to get into as well. Psycho Pink used her wind to crush the creations of her chosen target by making a sphere with hurricane force winds to cut them into nothing, Psycho Yellow used her lightning to continually move in a pattern across the area where she made a pentagram made out or her lightning trail. Psycho Blue used his powers over ice to bring forth a large chunk and then went to work cutting it into a statue of himself holding his axe, Psycho Red used his fire to make a whip-like weapon that he used to also break the other creations and laughed when he saw their sad looks. Psycho Black of course used his rock control to make a catapult off of the wall and fire all of them at each other to create a huge dust cloud and then again used his rock control to make a statue of Nozel within the cloud bent over and mooning everyone just for an extra little show. When the dust cleared and everyone could see what had been made and they all dropped their jaws at the audacity of this Psycho Black who would do this, you could faintly hear the sounds of someone trying their best to contain their laughter, and then failing to do so as well.
The Evolution Magic Test was next and everyone was given a seed that they were to make grow using their magic, and in making their seed grow at a certain rate and how much grows on the new branches, many did well, many did not grow well but still grew, but five didn't grow at all. The Psychos didn't have magic and as such could not make the magic seed grow in any time frame or in any way at all, so they did nothing the entire time and flipped off those that belittled them for it and thought they were better at it then them, even destroyed some of the seeds.
"On to the next test," Vangeance called out to them all, "the final and most difficult, a display of combat skill," this is where the Psychos knew they had everyone beat, no matter the social class, no matter the magic ability, they all failed in comparison to the Psycho Rangers and their might.
"Prepare to duel," Fuegoleon exclaimed after the golden dawn captain, "you will break into pairs and fight each other, use your grimoires to attack and defend, as knights, battle is our business, we wanna see everything you're capable of," someone was clearly excited about this part.
"The test will end when one combatant either surrenders or is unable to continue, we have mages wielding Recovery Magic standing by for the injured so you can fight without holding anything back," Vangeance finished with the best thing everyone heard, being told not to hold back is great.
"I wonder if these idiots realize what they have with us here, hahahahahahahahaha," Psycho Blue laughed hysterically as he waited for who would be willing to fight with him, who had the guts to take him on, and whose head he could cleave off with his axe, oh this was gonna be good.
"I guess I'll go ahead and start this show off then," Psycho Pink stated as she began strutting to her target, that Salim De Hapshass, "hey you," the one in question turned around and looked at the scary woman in pink armor who called him and recoiled, "we're fighting," and drug him off.
The boy went kicking and screaming but eventually he had no choice but to fight this absolute monster, the match was called to begin as he began to think a strategy, 'okay, think, you know this woman has wind magic of some type, and yet she refuses to bring out her grimoire. She might think she's above you and you might be able to prove her wrong, except she's gone out of her way to humiliate you at every turn just to throw you off so she clearly underestimates you, that's you're advantage,' he thought to himself as he opened his grimoire to a good spell. "Now go, a special noble move I call Holy Lightning Rising Salim," out came a huge magical sphere of lightning that shown almost as bright as the sun and just filled with pure magic power, and clearly many of the captains were impressed with the power behind the move.
"Not bad, not bad, but I feel it's just missing something," Psycho Pink thought out loud while bringing out her Psycho Bow, Salim sent the magic attack her way and with but a burst of her own power appeared right above him with an arrow ready to fire, "I know what it's missing." She fired the energy arrow and it pierced through the pages of the grimoire and pinned it to the ground, the magic dissipated and Pink landed safely on the ground like nothing was wrong, "you focused so much on the magic that you didn't think about your defenses." You could just tell she was grinning like a Cheshire cat underneath that helmet that was her face, as was the other Psychos at how she pulled that off, it was great, she was called the winner and the next fight was called to appear while the Psychos celebrated her victory in their own way.
Captains viewing
The Captains looked both impressed at how easily the match was won and appalled at someone actually attacking the grimoire first and didn't even think about another way to attack the person, though it did bring up a valid question, would the other Psychos also attack the grimoires as well? "Someone actually has the audacity and roundabout thinking of attacking a grimoire of a potential fellow magic knight, I'm both appalled and impressed with her thought process," Fuegoleon stated to his fellow captains as he saw the fight that just went down, it struck a chord with him though.
"They have no concept of fair play it seems and everything they do is as if it is only for their benefit, though to be honest in a real battle, taking out the opponent's grimoire is the quickest and most efficient way to end it," Captain Charlotte gave her observation to her fellow captains.
"Though they clearly don't care about rules of any kind, I'd say they would all make good Black Bulls, but putting them all together may just end up with the whole kingdom being destroyed," Captain Gueldre surmised as he saw how they interacted with each other and separately as well.
"Well if we go off by color of their armor, that would mean that golden boy over there should watch this match closely," Captain Yami suggested as he noticed that fighting next was Psycho Yellow and that Yuno boy with the four leaf clover, "this should give you some nice insight, hugh."
The captains all watched as the match was called to begin and the opening move was made by Yuno who called out, "wind magic towering tornado," and sent a huge column of wind his opponent's way, tearing through the ground on its way for her and creating high wind pressure. At the last second Psycho Yellow disappeared in a burst of light and went to the arena wall behind Yuno, she landed in a crouch and launched herself for him, he used his wind magic to speed away from that point as she crashed into the ground, kicking up dust and dirt to hide her from sight. Yami could sense though, sense her movements as she brought out some type of sling shot and fired it at the Yuno boy, who blocked it by condensing wind into a pressurized sphere to deflect the projectile, whatever it was, he then sent another pressurized wind strike for his opponent. At least where he thought she was, Psycho Yellow had already moved and was now heading to his right side at blinding speeds where she took on a hand-to-hand fighting stance, it was quite advanced to, she began with a fist to his ribs that was clearly heavier than it looked.
"She's scary good at fighting, we didn't get to see much of Pink's fighting style, but this one clearly doesn't hold back in fighting by hand," Captain Vangeance observed stoically as he watched a possible new recruit fighting the four leaf holder, "and her speed is extraordinary too."
"That leads me to wonder what will happen when that crazy Blue one gets his turn, we might just witness a blood bath," Captain Jack predicted with a slight laugh, he enjoyed a good fight to the death every now and again, and these Psychos bring just that, "I almost want them all for myself."
"Don't be daft," Captain Charlotte rebuked that idea, "Gueldre is right, we should split them up, and going by color alone the blue one would go to my squad, though I'm loath to even let him try to get in, but we may be able to discipline him, shape him into a functioning member of society."
"My concern lies not in what the others are capable of," Captain Fuegoleon began to say, "but with what the black one is capable of, he isn't their leader but acts different to the others, the others are rash and cruel at times, the black one seems patient and calculating in what he does."
"He's nothing but a commoner," Captain Nozel spoke up about him, "he's done nothing but try and attack me while calling them 'little slips of control' in his power that does not feel like magic at all, in fact, I'm not sensing any mana from any of them at all, not even a single drop of mana."
"That was a nasty hit," Captain Yami commented when he saw that Psycho Yellow had delivered a rather nasty knee to Yuno's gut that he flipped over and fell to the ground, "but I have a theory on why he's targeting you fancy pants," he took a drag of his cigarette and didn't elaborate.
"I think we've just about had enough of this matchup in particular," Captain Vangeance stated as he signaled for the referee to call the match over and move on to the next one, it was just some nobles fighting, that went on for a few more rounds until another Psycho stepped up, alone.
"Hey jackasses," and it was Psycho Blue, "I think it's quite clear that we can beat any damn examinee that thinks they can take us, so why don't we challenge one of you magic knights," he proposed to them, and before they could agree or disagree to it, "and I challenge that bitch."
The one he called out was someone named Sol Marron, she was a tall, tan skinned, black haired young woman of the Blue Rose Knights and accompanied her captain to watch the examinees along with her, she was both surprised and ticked off at being called out in such a way. She didn't even wait for her captain to say anything before she jumped down to begin fighting the blue man that stood before her, "I didn't even say that you could," the other captains could hear Charlette muttering to herself about her subordinates brash actions.
"This might be a good opportunity though, seeing as the examinees are too inexperienced to truly test the limits of these Psychos and seeing as she accepted, I propose we allow this to continue," Vangeance suggested and the captain sighed but agreed none the less, "you may continue!"
With that, Sol began the attack with the creation of a large golem, "Earth Creation Magic: Raging Mother Goddess," it was fully made of rock and dirt and clearly the size of the top of the arena, but Psycho Blue clearly wasn't impressed, and charged in with his own axe out and ready. Sol used her golem first and had it slam its fist into the ground just at the spot where Psycho Blue was, but he jumped at the last second and landed on its arm, wasn't long after that when he began climbing the arm at a fast pace as the golem pulled the arm away. The other arm came and began to chase him but it was much too slow and crashed into the arm as he jumped up and began running for the girl, she was on its head and he was approaching fast, so she used the golem itself to create an earth wall to stop him for at least a moment.
It gave him pause before he used the axe with one single strike and poked his out and exclaimed, "HERE'S PSYCHO BLUE," before bursting through the rest of the magic in an instant and just jumped using his power and got in front of Sol, she barely had time to react before he attacked. He already began the attack by kneeing her in the sternum and afterwards attacking the back of her shoulder to send her to the ground, then he dropped his elbow on top of her chest, he picked her up again just to trip her with his feet and make her fall again, "hahahahaha," for fun. She tried to create earth columns to block his path, but that did very little against his Psycho Axe, for a single pointless shield it broke so easily that you could hardly call it a shield, then he did what others didn't expect, he shot blue lightning out of his fingertips and shocked her, painfully. Sol couldn't take the pain and in the end, passed out from it, she would have fallen off the golem and to her death if Psycho Blue hadn't also grabbed her by her throat and jumped to the ground before dropping her to the ground, "well that was a good bit of exercise, wasn't it?"
"Now that one is a true crazy battle freak," Yami commented before taking a drag of his cigarette, "you might just have your work cut out for you prickly princess," he told Charlette and watched as Sol was carried off by recovery mages and the next Psycho stepped forward, this time it was Red.
"I pick the one with the lame mask," Psycho Red pointed for Vangeance, clearly they each chose someone they thought would make them each look good, and this red psycho clearly thought he had a chance in fighting the captain of the Golden Dawn, the problem was that the captains didn't.
"A captain fighting an examinee, no matter how talented or powerful is a bit much, however we will have you fighting a high ranking Magic Knight still, or a comparative equal," Vangeance informed Psycho Red evenly before looking to Fuegoleon, "since he'll be yours, who do you suggest?"
Captain Fuegoleon of the Crimson Lion Kings leaned forward in thought before standing up and announcing, "Psycho Red, you're aptitude for battle is great, better than many other Magic Knights, so I believe you deserve a shot at royalty, you'll fight Leopold Vermillion in battle."
Leopold stepped forward and jumped to the ground, he was around the same age as most taking this exam, yet wearing the Crimson Lion King's cloak so he was clearly skilled in magic, but when the call to begin the match sounded, he made the mistake by talking, "so what is it you can do?"
"Why don't I show you, Psycho Sword," Psycho Red exclaimed as he produced his black sword from nowhere and decided to throw the boy off by putting his left hand to his face and fire a red beam for him, the younger one jumped to the side to avoid getting hit and stood upright again. Leopold was about to get his grimoire out when Psycho Red got in front of him and stopped him by kicking his arm that reached for it and swiped his blade for the boy, who only barely dodged in time to not get cut, Psycho Red tried for an overhead swing next that was dodged, then a swipe. Out of instinct the boy tried to block one at the wrists before blocking another one but then being kicked away by Psycho Red's heavy boot, this turned him do to the force of the kick where he was then grabbed by the shoulder and then flung overhead, landing hard on the ground with a thud. Psycho Red raised his sword for a finishing blow when Leopold suddenly got up and in desperation grabbed the blade with both hands, but Psycho Red then kicked his hands away before stabbing his sword in the ground and turned, creating force to kick Leopold away and into a random column.
"Now that hurt," Leopold muttered while getting up and finally getting his grimoire out to fight back as Psycho Red ran for the young boy who shot out two spiraling flames from the palms of his hands to throw him off balance, but he wasn't the leader of the Psycho Rangers for nothing. Psycho Red didn't even lose a step as he stepped to the right and dodged both attacks as he kept charging, the boy sent another spiral flame his way and just like before, all Psycho Red did to avoid it was step out of the way and with a few more steps was upon the boy who tried to fight. Thing is, royalty isn't taught how to fight bare handed, they focus on magic growth and control only, what little is taught of it at least, if you're not inherently gifted then you're left out to dry, but with bare handed combat skill, this boy had next to none, he did have instinct though, but only that.
First thing that Leopold saw was a black gloved and silver knuckled fist that impacted his jaw before a flying kick knocked the wind out of him, he tried to inhale, but that was his mistake as the next thing he felt was a knee that just about broke his nose before his left arm was grabbed. Psycho Red used that arm to flip the boy two hundred and seventy degrees and making him land on his back before using his left boot to stomp on his chest, the next thing done was a straight right elbow drop that landed on Leopold's sternum that almost made the young man pass out. The only reason he didn't was because of the fact Psycho Red grabbed him by his neck and with a great show of strength he threw the boy far enough to make him slam into the top of an archway right below his older brother, Captain Fuegoleon of the Crimson Lion Kings, who looked impassive.
The only thing else that Psycho Red did was just look back up to them and bow dramatically with sass added for effect, he looked up at them as if he was sending them a crooked grin before raising up and turning around to go join the other Psychos, flipping them off as he went as well.
"Since that was all but one of them, I'm almost unwilling to know just what that Psycho Black can do," Captain Gueldre stated as the rest eyed the final Psycho Ranger as Leopold Vermillion was carried out by stretcher as he was also being heeled by heeling mages on transit to his home.
"I have a feeling this one is going to be worse than before, especially with how calm he was during everything else," Captain Charlotte surmised while narrowing her eyes as she watched Psycho Black begin to move away from the others and to a sandy blonde haired young man.
The young man was Sekke Bronzazza, someone of the higher classes of status, either a merchant's son or something or another, either way he was high enough to have at least some magic power, but not to the level of royalty or nobility, though he's not terrible either. "How did the boy get roped into participating against Psycho Black," Captain Rill wondered aloud as they got ready to face each other, in fact, this would be the last of the battles as everyone else has been fought against someone or another, so it was actually quite accurate.
Psycho Black stood in front of Sekke with an impassive stance as the dirty blonde got his grimoire out and ready to fight, a glowing blueish orb began to form around him and soon a large sphere encompassed him, "Bronze Creation Magic: Sekke Magnum Cannon Ball," he called out the spell.
Psycho Black said nothing for a long time as he waited to see what Sekke would do, when the boy did nothing, he calmly began to walk forward, all the while watching as Sekke got more and more nervous with each step until he was standing right in front of him, and just reached out his hand. He grabbed ahold of something that looked like a cannon nozzle and lifted the sphere with one hand, Sekke fell to the bottom of the orb and looked on as the man in black just raised his spell with one hand like it was nothing, "I'd keep the spell active for as long as you can," he stated.
Sekke could do nothing as Psycho Black began to actually juggle the sphere, juggle the damn blue thing with Sekke still in it which resulted in the boy bouncing back and forth, up and down, side to side, and even turned him upside down, he truly was turned every single way imaginable. Yet Sekke couldn't stop it or at the force in which he was being flung would almost break his body in two if his cannon ball sphere didn't just take the brunt of the attack, this means that the only thing he could do is just stay there and take the force of his body slamming around. Psycho Black soon got tired of the juggling though and after a minute just tossed it up high into the sky and as it descended down spun and kicked, the sphere right in a certain direction, the direction of the Captain of the Silver Eagles, Nozel Silva and that did not go as planned.
At the moment Nozel was about to cast his own magic, Sekke couldn't keep the spell going and in that moment, also couldn't keep his stomach from emptying itself, so in the end the spell disappeared and Sekke just happen to have his face in front of Nozel, this was going to be good. Sekke upchucked, puked, vomited, you can call it whatever you want, he did so right in front of Nozel's body and just below his face, so the end result was quite spectacular for the Psychos to witness, the captains disgusting to smell, and Nozel a full on horror to experience being a part of. Psycho Black didn't even wait for anything else, he just walked back after making another examinee puke on a captain, walked back as if nothing was wrong with what he just did and at the end, when he leaned against the wall, you could hear him giggle, "hehehehehehehehehehe."
Psychos POV
After all of that, and Nozel was cleaned up, Captain Vangeance spoke, "that concludes the exam, when your number is called, please step forward to learn your results," it was dusk at this time now and everyone was tired from the rest of the day, so hopefully this wouldn't take long.
"If a captain wants you on his or her squad, they will raise a hand, that means you're in, if you do not with to join a squad, you may, of course, decline, and if you are admitted into more than one squad, it is up to your to decide which you will join," Captain Charlette informed them next.
"However," now it was Captain Fuegoleon, "if no squad wants you, you will not be a magic knight," well duh, the only other option at that point is to go home and back to whatever it is that you were doing beforehand, which for most was probably working farms and mills and such.
"In which case, you must leave at once," thanks to Captain Puke, Nozel's new name from the Psychos, they can't stay and chat with others that they might have made friends with, awe, poor them and their rules that the Psychos will break at any time they wish, any damn time.
From then on it was just disappointing to witness, not a single hand was raised to signify that a squad wanted someone until the number seventy one, it was the Purple Orcas, then it was a toss up of various people getting picked up by whatever squad had wanted them, though it wasn't many. Then came number 164, otherwise known as four leaf, or Hage hick, or just plain Yuno, that is where something amazing happened, all of the damn captains raised their hands, Blue Rose, Green Praying Mantises, even the Black Bulls wanted the bastard, his performance was that good.
As everyone gone into shock at all of them wanting the boy, the boy himself was in thought about what squad would let him reach his goals the best, and he chose the obvious pick, "it would be an honor to join the Golden Dawn," so of course everyone was soon to be in shock at the next picks.
165 was next, and of course Psycho Red stepped forward and everyone began to boo him, that is until Captain Fuegoleon raised his hand, along with Captain Gueldre, he decided to make this a little interesting, and the other captains knew it, he was going to be used for profit only. So Psycho Red also had a choice on his hands, does he pick the Crimson Lion Kings, or the Purple Orcas, the Orcas would allow him to get paid, but the Lions would allow him to fight on the front lines more, and Psycho Red loved a good fight, "of course I'm going to choose my colors."
166 was after that, Psycho Black stepped up and looked only at Captain Yami of the Black Bulls, who was the one that raised his hand, along with Captain Puke of the Silver Eagles, who no doute had revenge as the only thing on his mind while in his squad, but there was also a third hand. Captain Vangeance of the Golden Dawn also raised his hand in the hopes of having the Black armored Psycho in his squad as well, there was not even a debate in the mind of Psycho Black, "I'll go with my color as well, I don't really have a reason to go with any other," he stated.
167 was Psycho Blue, of course this one drew a bit of apprehensive hand from Captain Charlette of the Blue Rose, but also brought the hand of Captain Jack from the Green Praying Mantises, now, Psycho Blue didn't want to be like his 'brothers', but he also had a thing or two to teach. He really needed to show those uppity bitches that thought they were above men why he wasn't to be messed with, why he was the psycho he was, and most importantly why everyone was equal targets in his eyes, "I'll go with the Blue Bitches, let's just see if they'll 'reform me."
168 being Psycho Yellow, you had a few hands there as well, most importantly you had that of Captain Vangeance of the Golden Dawn, Captain Puke of the Silver Eagles, and Captain Fuegoleon of the Crimson Lion Kings, all three wanted her in their squads, the royalty squads as it were. Unlike the others though, there was no true color, she was Psycho Yellow, but gold and silver and crimson were not her colors specifically, yet nobody actually had her color so she went with her best option, "fine, fancy golden pants gets me, but I'll tell you right now, I don't take shit from anyone."
169 was just like Psycho Yellow, Psycho Pink had no specific color, closest one was Coral Peacock, so of course Captain Dorothy of the Coral Peacocks raised her hand, but so did Captain Rill of the Aqua Deer, so two squads wanted her instead of just one, that made her feel quite good. Less so when she realized that the only offers she got was from a sleepoholic and a child, but the child might have her doing something she'd have to report him on while the sleeper might have her fight more, "I'll go with the sleeping thing over on the end," she stated with a thumb jab.
After that it just went on some more for more and more people getting either picked or not, then it was soon the end of the exam and no captain said anything else except meeting points for those picked and it was just that moment when the information was given, and only then. It was after that when the Psychos all met up and the only thing the Psycho family did was flip one another off and go meet up with their squads and watch as that one Salim kid run crying home to his family while Sekke slunk away with Captain Jack joining his squad.
Psycho Black met up with Yami out front, to which his new captain said, "you got a lotta nerve making me wait like that, newbie," with a scowl on his face as if he had very little patience, "just what was more important than meeting me in one freaking location, huh," he asked him.
"Meeting with my fellow Psychos and making sure they didn't do anything stupid or too crazy with a single gesture," as if to emphasize the statement, Psycho Black gave his new captain the same gesture, his helmet was immediately grabbed and squeezed as if that would have any effect. Captain Yami then looked to Finral, one of two Magic Knights that came with him to also observe the exam, Finral got the message and opened a good human sized portal big enough for people to go through, Psycho Black didn't even blink as he smacked Yami's hand away and walked through.
