Shadow: I'm Shadow the Hedgehog. The one and only ultimate life form. I assisted escorting a convoy in Harlem to SHIELD headquarters when I was hit with illusions from Cinder's teammate, Emerald Sustrai. She was infected with a symbiote, and Spider-Man nearly killed her to get rid of it. The Black Suit almost has control over his mind and body. Fight back, Spider-Man! Remember your promise to Mary Jane and resist its power!

Issue 21: Cat Fight

Fisk Towers, New York City

The Harlem convoy arrived in the safe zone that is Fisk Towers. Spider-Man and Shadow stand together atop of a nearby rooftop, keeping vigilant of the safe zone and checking if everyone is safe and symbiotes aren't attacking. "I'm going inside to check development on the sonic weapon. In the meantime, stay here and don't do anything foolish. I'll be right back." Shadow informs the webslinger before warping into Fisk Towers.

Right after Shadow left, a SHIELD agent speaks through a loudspeaker proclaiming, "CONVOY IS IN SAFETY ZONE."

Spidey looks at the infested streets for any sign of Mary Jane, who was with Power Man leading the first convoy. That was a while ago, and there has been no sign of either her or Power Man, increasingly worrying the webhead. "MJ…?" He swings off the building while frantically shouting, "MJ!? Cage!? No! NOOO! NOOOOO!" He lands on the ground and yanks a Tech Soldier towards his furiously worrisome hands, "YOU! WHERE'S LUKE CAGE?!"

"Take it easy!" The Tech Soldier retorted.

"GIRL WITH A REPULSOR GAUNTLET?!"

"What?"

"ANSWER ME!" Spidey furiously throws the thug aside before zipping to the rooftop of Fisk Towers to feel guilty, "I never should have let her go!"

"Uh oh. Let me guess." says Kingpin, approaching the webslinger to mock him, "Spider-Man saved everyone, but the ones he cares about the most. Some hero."

Spidey snaps, furiously switching to his Black Suit and grabbing Fisk by his suit, "SHUT UP." He said with a chilling tone, threatening to kill Fisk with a single punch. But he relents, letting go of Fisk, "No. I promised." He takes off his symbiote and walks away, alone, and feeling tremendously guilty for everything that has transpired up until now.

Later…

'And that brings us up to date.' Spidey narrates, remembering himself walking through a battle against symbiotes atop of Fisk Towers, 'I've searched for MJ.' He recalls fighting symbiotes alone in his search, 'Found her…' He recalls finding MJ, 'And lost her again.' He recalls spotting Symbiote Black Cat, 'And worst of all…breaking another promise.' He recalls being overwhelmed by Felicia's symbiote tendrils, 'I have to use that thing…one more time.'

Right now on the streets, a large number of various symbiotes dogpiled Spider-Man's unconscious body after his defeat by Symbiote Black Cat's tendrils. Suddenly, they felt Spider-Man change into something more powerful. Something akin to them. The symbiotes recognize that power and struggle with everything in their might to prevent him from breaking free. Yet the more they struggle, the angrier they make the webslinger.

"Just. One. More. TIME!" shouted Spider-Man, breaking free from the dogpile with a massive burst of strength from his Black Suit and Rage Mode.

BGM-Spider-Man: Web of Shadows OST-SHIELD (Black Suit)

Symbiotes and Symbiote Grimm of different variety growl furiously at the symbiote webslinger and rush at him from all sides and angles. Symbiote Spidey scowls underneath his mask, "I don't have time for this." He quickly covers the area around him in a giant web that stuns all the symbiotes, then explodes into a blazing blur of motion, beating down the aliens until they were all dead, "I need to get to Felicia. Somewhere inside that symbiote is Black Cat."

Rage Mode Symbiote Spidey swings off, triggering his Symbiote-Sense to track down his corrupted ex-lover. "Got a lock on her. Gotta be getting close by now." He says while swinging to her position.

Symbiote Black Cat was spotted crouching on a sidewalk when she notices Spider-Man landing to confront her. "GRAAAH!" Felicia growls at him. She turns around at the skyscraper behind her that has symbiotes clinging to it. She pounces and scales the building, passing by her fellow symbiotes. Spidey gives chase, webstriking the clinging symbiotes as he follows Felicia to the rooftop for their confrontation.

BGM-Spider-Man: Web of Shadows OST-Symbiote Boss

"There you are, my love." Symbiote Black Cat creepily greeted her ex-lover.

Spidey retorts, "Felicia! You need to FIGHT that thing! You need to-!"

"I've missed you." Felicia cuts him off as she dashes at him with a powerful sweeping kick. Spidey jumps over the kick, then dodges a followed-up spin kick before zipping away from her diving double claw slash.

"That's very sweet. And crazy. Maybe scary." quips Spidey, countering with a tendril strike. "But you need to remember who you are, Felicia!" He blitzes her with several claw strikes, "You're neither crazy or scary! You're a world-famous cat burglar! Not a slave to the symbiotes! You've helped me save this city multiple times! You're my friend!"

"Friend?!" Felicia flips away from his strikes and grabs his throat with her prehensile hair, pulling him towards her, "We used to be MORE than friends until you dumped me! You have NO idea how much that hurt, Spider." She rapidly slashes him with her claws before throwing him onto a ventilation system.

"I'm sorry things didn't work out between us." said Spidey, quickly dodging her vicious hair strikes, "But you're still my partner! I can't bare seeing you like this! And if I have to take out all your nine lives to bring you back…" He zips towards Felicia, who lashes her hair tendrils at him. Spidey swiftly slides under her tendrils to kick her to the air, "Then that's what I'm going to do!" He leaps backward into the air, then ensnares Felicia into a giant mystic web ball. He swings her around in overhead circles several times before slamming her into the ground.

As soon as Spidey lands on the rooftop, Symbiote Black Cat recovers on her feet with average injuries. Furious, she unleashes a painful sonic screech, "GWAAAAAAAH!" that not only rips the Black Suit off of Spidey and force him to use his Red Suit, but she also summons a symbiote horde as reinforcements.

'Not good. That sonic screech weakened my symbiote.' Spidey looks at himself, then glances at the summoned symbiotes, 'And called in a few friends.'

Symbiote Slashers lunge at the webslinger one at a time, with Spidey countering their blows, "Your new friends are awfully anti-social."

"Awww, that's not nice." quips Felicia, lashing a strong tendril at her ex-boyfriend.

"Nice?!" Spidey questions while being tackled and pinned to the ground by Felicia. She is about to bite his head off until she was blinded by webbing, "You've become a monster and you're trying to eat my FACE!" He quips while uppercutting her off his body.

"Just a little love nip." Felicia remarked.

"Felicia, while I admit you have a lovely singing voice, everything else the symbiote does for you…it's REALLY unattractive." quips Spidey, smashing symbiotes from a distance with powerful webbing attacks.

"You don't love me anymore? FINE, I'll snap your spine!" Felicia extends her left claws before dashing at Peter, striking him at ferocious speeds. Peter tries a counterattack, only for Felicia to immediately dodge and claw him from behind, sending him flying off the roof.

Quickly, Spidey webzips back onto the rooftop. He tries manifesting his symbiote but it repeatedly hides back in his body. 'Symbiote is still weak from her sonic blast.' He noted, before noticing Felicia summoning more symbiotes and pointing them to attack him, 'And she keeps summoning more symbiotes to do her dirty work.' The symbiotes crawl and lunge at the webslinger, who deflects them with powerful punches, 'Just gotta hold out a little longer. At least until I can use my Black-.'

And just as a Slasher was lunging at Spidey from behind, it was quickly killed by a repulsor blast from a girl that shouted, "PETER!"

Peter heard his name called and looks to his left and instantly becomes shocked to see Mary Jane coming to his rescue on a SHIELD hovercraft. "I got it!" MJ proclaimed, posing her with repulsor gauntlet and ready to help him.

"MJ! You're okay! But, how did you find me?" Spidey asked.

MJ smiles, "Called in a little help."

Suddenly leaping towards the rooftop is Shadow, Toxin, and a recovered Blake Belladonna. "CHAOS SPEAR!" Shadow shouts, raining energy bolts that decimate several symbiotes.

"Eat this!" Toxin exclaims, detonating a damaging blast of flames on Black Cat and nearby symbiotes.

"HAAAAAH!" Blake shouts a battle cry, launching three beams from her sword that passes through and stuns symbiotes before she swiftly slashes them to death. The recovered huntress approaches Spidey, "Got here as fast as we could once Cinder detected your symbiote. How're you doing. Pete?"

"F-Fine, but what about you? Aren't you still hurt?" asked Spidey, worried about his faunus friend.

"Recovered a while ago. Heard the struggles you've been going through." said Blake, swiftly turning around to slash a lunging symbiote, "I won't sit by while one of my friends suffer. Told you that you can always count on me to be there during your darkest hour."

"Thanks, partner. You've officially become my favorite cat." Spidey quips while hitting symbiotes with a web barrage.

"About time." Blake remarks while slashing symbiotes.

Shadow scowls while smashing his foes with Homing Attacks, "I leave you alone for ONE MINUTE and you went to do something foolish. You're lucky I promised Mary Jane to keep you safe." He dodges tendrils while in midair, using Chaos Control to hide in distorted space, before reappearing and attacking symbiotes with a white ball of energy. "You're also lucky that the Tinkerer's weapon is just about complete. We need to finish this fast and head back to Fisk Towers to end this nightmare."

"Thank goodness." Spidey commented.

"NO ONE is leaving here! Not with the Spider! He's MINE!" Symbiote Black Cat smacks Shadow in the back, knocking him back. Blake kicks her across the face, which furiously gains her attention, "YOU! You're the cat that stole the Spider from me!"

"Ironic, coming from the cat thief." Blake quips while backflipping from her tendril slam.

After slamming her hair tendrils onto the ground, Felicia uses them to grab the rubble and relentlessly throws them at Blake at lightning speed, "Only I deserve the Spider, but he keeps having eyes for you, the blond bimbo, and the redhead! Why is that?!"

"For one thing, we're not bonded to symbiotes that're turning up the jealously dial!" quips Mary Jane, blasting symbiotes away from her hovercraft.

"And another, we love both the spider AND the man, and he still loves you, Felicia, but not like this!" said Blake, using her Semblance to dodge the thrown rubble, "I once loved someone who's own hatred and obsession consumed him and turned him into a monster! But I know you're not like him!" She says while delivering a spinning slash on Felicia, "Despite being a thief, there is good in you. Let GO of the symbiote, Felicia. Do it for yourself and the friends that still love you."

"Oh, the kitty would like this to be easy. How nice of you to care." Felicia quips, striking the faunus with multiple claw swipes that knocks her to the ground, "If anyone is letting go of anything, it's all of you with your lives! GWAAAAAAAAH!" She unleashes a sonic screech that summons symbiotes and stuns her enemies.

"AAAAH! Didn't know she had that kind of power!" Cinder yells, painfully covering her ears while feeling her symbiote weakening.

BGM-Spider-Man: Web of Shadows OST-Symbiote Boss

Black Cat continues screeching while pointing her minions to assault Mary Jane. Symbiotes lunge onto the hovercraft, with Mary Jane doing her best to blast them off the vehicle. One alien scratches her arm, causing her to grunt in pain, "A little help!"

"Get away from her!" Spidey webs the symbiotes on the hovercraft, pulling and throwing them onto Black Cat.

"Yes, that's what I need!" Felicia screeches, dashing at her ex-lover while rapidly spinning her hair like a long spinning blade.

"You have problems!" quips Spidey, leaping away from her hair blade spin.

Cinder launches a large fireball at Black Cat, interrupting her attack and weakening her. Shadow warps in front of the thief, delivering an energy fist that uppercuts her into the air, followed by Blake leaping towards her. The huntress delivers a flurry of sword swings before slamming the thief to the ground near the hovercraft.

Symbiote Black Cat growls angrily at the heroes, specifically at Spider-Man, "Spider-Maaaan…" She unleashes another sonic screech that nearly destroys Toxin while she is blasted back alongside Shadow and Blake, leaving only Spidey standing. She turns to Mary Jane, chuckling evilly before rushing towards her.

"NOOOO!" Spidey yelled.

Black Cat leaps onto the hovercraft and would've hurt MJ if she wasn't hit back with web blasts from Spider-Man. Spidey jumps to the hovercraft to help the redhead, only for Felicia to instantly reappear and nearly smack him off the hovercraft. Felicia crushes the repulsor gauntlet and threw MJ off the hovercraft, but the redhead just barely grabbed the edge of the vehicle. Spidey bounces off of Felicia to quickly grab MJ's arm before she lost her grip. He pulls her up to safety before jumping back to confront the roaring symbiote thief. She lunges at Spidey, who narrowly avoids her with a spin while grabbing her arm, then throws her over a great and terrifying distance. Black Cat smashes onto a tower and falls from a great height, hitting the edge of a rooftop before crashing onto another rooftop.

Horrified for nearly killing his ex-girlfriend, Peter yells, "CAAAAAT!" before jumping towards her.

BGM End

Spidey finds Black Cat, who was free from the symbiote thanks to her fall but was left severely wounded to the point of near-death. "Felicia…Can you hear me?" He asks somberly while cradling her body.

"I…screw up…" Felicia groans weakly.

"No. Easy…" Spidey whispers to her.

He turns from hearing the sound of the hovercraft approaching them with MJ on top. "PETER!" MJ shouts, just as Shadow, Blake, and Toxin caught up with them.

Felicia coughs weakly, "I'm so…sorry…Can't help…" She softly touches her ex-lover's cheek, "Stop…Salem…Venom…" She lets go of his cheek as her eyes close.

Peter gasps as tears stream down his eyes behind his mask, thinking he had just killed his ex-girlfriend. He frantically shakes her body while shouting, "Felicia!? FELICIA!" He cries over her apparent death, while everyone else mourns, with Shadow turning away while closing his eyes and crossing his arms.

'This is our fault, but we can still save her!' The Black Suit speaks to Peter telepathically, 'Bond her with a piece of us. Then we can be together again.'

BGM-Shadow the Hedgehog OST-Hidden Memories

Without debate, the grieving Peter switches to his Black Suit, which was quickly noticed by Shadow and the others. "What do you think you're doing?!" Shadow walks up to him.

"I can still save her!" Symbiote Spidey retorted.

"With the Black Suit?! That's too dangerous!" Shadow argues while furiously touching his right arm.

"GET AWAY FROM ME!" Spidey angrily throws away the hedgehog.

As Spidey lifts up the unconscious Black Cat, he is suddenly stopped by Blake, "If she's still alive, we can take her to a hospital!"

"THERE'S NO TIME!" Peter slaps the faunus to the ground.

Peter concentrates, trying to wrap Felicia in a symbiotic cocoon so he can bond her with a piece of his symbiote. Before he could do that, he was webbed in the back and yanked away by Toxin, "The Black Suit is feeding off your grief! Making its control over you that much stronger! CALM DOWN!"

"DON'T TELL ME TO CALM DOWN!" Spidey smacks her down with a vicious tendril whip.

"Peter, you PROMISED!" Mary Jane shouts, watching him coldly walk past her towards Felicia.

"I need her!" Spidey retorted.

BGM-Shadow the Hedgehog OST-The Real Truth

Suddenly, Shadow warps in front of Spidey and punches him across the face, sending him flying onto a wall. And before he falls, Shadow grabs his neck and furiously pins him to the wall. "And we need YOU to look DEEP WITHIN YOURSELF!" He scowls, "I made a promise to Mary Jane to keep you safe from the Black Suit! I swore to Maria I would give the people a chance to be happy! If you break YOUR promise, then I'll be breaking MINE! So THINK! You KNOW there is another way!"

"There IS no other way!" Spidey argued.

"That's NOT true!" Blake chimes in, "You've proven to ALL OF US there is ALWAYS another way! You have an ability that can resist the symbiote! A power GREATER than hope! A WILL to never give up, even when things are at their absolute worst!"

"That is why Salem fears YOU! Your indomitable will threatens her rule! It's why she has taken such an interest in you, and has been doing everything in her power to CRUSH that willpower of yours!" Toxin added, slowly calming down the webslinger.

"Peter, you are the only hope to save not just Black Cat, but mankind as we know it. The future of this planet and our worlds depend on YOU!" Shadow said.

"And you don't have to do it alone. You can ALWAYS rely on us to help you." Mary Jane added, finally calming down her ex-boyfriend.

Shadow lets go of Peter's neck as he collapses onto his knees. Peter closes his eyes, processing their words of encouragement for a moment before arriving at another decision. He switches to his Red Suit, opening his eyes as he somberly says, "…Let's get Felicia to a hospital."

"MJ and I will take her there." Blake replied, proud of Peter's newest decision while watching him carefully lift up Felicia's unconscious body.

"Hurry!" MJ shouted at him.

Peter gently places his ex-girlfriend on the hovercraft, "You're going to make it."

"He really loves you…" Felicia weakly says to MJ and Blake, as the latter jumps onto the hovercraft.

"Which one?" Blake quips, which got a smile from the redhead.

Mary Jane looks at Peter with a somber look, "Come back to me. To us."

"You know I will." Peter assures her, watching the hovercraft fly away with his love interests. "At least I hope I will." He mutters, standing inbetween Shadow and Toxin for some comfort.

Meanwhile at Oscorp Tower…

BGM-Shadow the Hedgehog OST-Preparation for Ritual

Salem sits on her throne with Venom standing next to her. They stare down at their remaining Super Symbiotes such as Devil Carnage, Symbiote Vulture, and Symbiote Rouge. The Super Symbiotes are all formally kneeling towards their symbiote rulers as the queen has something to say to all of them.

"I can no longer sense Black Cat. Meaning she has been disconnected from the Hive." Salem said, "In turn, Spider-Man's connection to us has grown ever stronger. Now, it is time for the final preparations for the ritual." She takes out her Chaos Emerald, "I have mastered the Chaos Emerald's energies. Venom, Carnage, and I will use its power to infiltrate the Tricarrier and steal the Cosmic Emeralds. In the meantime…Vulture. Rouge. You two will lead our assault at the Trask Building and take control of Tinkerer's weapon. If everything goes according to plan, Spider-Man will succumb to his symbiote and will personally DESTROY the weapon, sealing his fate to us. We will be complete. And our forces will blacken the dimensions."

"We understand, my queen. We will not fail you." Symbiote Vulture vows, as he, Carnage and Rouge take a stand.

"I'm just happy to be getting out of this dump and cause chaos with these new powers. Been cooped in here for hours." Devil Carnage quipped.

"Just don't mess us up like before!" Venom retorts scowlingly, flaunting his arm at his son, "We're at endgame now. We have toyed with the humans long enough. They created the Cosmic Emeralds to protect themselves from terror. Instead…it will be used to DESTROY MANKIND!" He proclaimed ominously with a malicious grin.

KFX Here: We have come full circle and continuing the events of the prologue. And Venom is right. We're pretty much entering endgame now. Right after the next chapter is the epic 3-part finale! Look forward to it because it'll be quite the doozy!
