At Blight Manor, Edric and Emira were sitting together in the living room going about their business, when Emira broke the silence.
"Hey, Ed", Emira asked.
"Yes, Em", Edric asked.
"Have you noticed that she-who-shan't-be-named isn't around", Emira asked.
"You mean Amity", Edric asked, "no, I haven't seen her around."
"Me neither", Emira said, "I wonder where she could be."
"Probably hanging with her new friends in that evil Emperor's Coven", Edric said, "I'll bet she's already forgotten all about her love for Luz and found someone new to crush on."
"Yeah, probably", Emira said, "but you know, I can't help but feel like we might've been a little hard on her."
"What makes you say that", Edric asked.
"Well, we did say she wasn't our sister", Emira said, "and we called her a monster."
"Okay, maybe those were some pretty strong things to say", Edric said, "but she needed to know that what she did was wrong."
"I know", Emira said, "but don't you think that might've been a bit much?"
Edric thought for a moment about Emira's words.
"Doing something like spreading Amity's diary pages around school is one thing, but flat-out disowning her as a sister is another", Emira said.
At last, Edric came to a decision.
"Maybe we were being a little harsh when we said those things", Edric said, "we should probably talk to Amity if she's still here."
"Good idea", Emira said.
Edric and Emira went upstairs to Amity's room and knocked on the door.
"Hey, Mittens", Emira said, "you in there?"
There was no response, so Edric and Emira went inside and found a lump in Amity's bed, which they assumed was her sleeping.
"Wow", Edric said, "has she been sleeping all day?"
"Sure looks like it", Emira said.
The twins walked over to who they thought was their sister.
"Amity, we wanna talk to you about what we said yesterday", Emira said.
"We've been thinking, and maybe we took things a little too far when we said you weren't our sister", Edric said.
"No matter what, you'll always be our little sister", Emira said, "even if you sell out the one you love for a spot in some corrupt coven."
Emira began to get agitated, but calmed down when Edric put his hand on her shoulder.
"So, what do you say", Emira asked.
There was no response.
"Amity", Emira asked.
Emira removed the covers from the bed, and she and Edric were shocked to discover that under them wasn't Amity, but rather a pillow placed there to make it look like Amity was asleep in her bed.
"Where's Amity", Emira asked.
"Not here", Edric said.
"I can see that, you dolt", Emira said, "but where did she go?"
They then heard the sound of a key in the lock downstairs.
"Maybe that's her", Edric said.
Edric and Emira went downstairs, and Odalia and Alador walked into the house.
"Mom, Dad", Emira asked.
"Hello Emira, Edric", Odalia said.
"You two seem troubled", Alador said, "is everything alright?"
"Oh, it's nothing", Edric said, "we were just looking for Amity so we could talk to her about something."
"Well, I'm sorry to say that she won't ever get to hear whatever it is you wanted to tell her", Odalia said.
"Why's that", Emira asked.
"She's getting petrified this afternoon", Odalia said.
Edric and Emira gasped in horror, and Odalia and Alador told them about Amity helping Luz escape and getting caught.
"She saved Luz", Edric said, "she really did care about her."
"Yes", Odalia said, "it sickens me."
"I think we're missing the bigger picture here", Emira said, "Mom, Dad, are you seriously letting the Emperor petrify your own daughter?"
"Of course", Odalia said, "she committed treason, and now she must pay the price."
"But she's only 14", Emira said.
"Did you two even try to persuade Emperor Belos to not do it", Edric asked.
"Why should we", Odalia asked, "she deserves to suffer such a fate."
"Although we must admit, it broke our hearts to learn that Amity betrayed the Emperor by aiding in the human's escape", Alador said.
"That little brat is not worthy of the Blight name", Odalia said, "not even after all these years."
Odalia and Alador walked away, leaving Edric and Emira very disturbed.
"Can you believe that", Edric asked.
"You mean Mom and Dad not caring about the fact that their youngest child is going to be turned into a statue", Emira asked, "nope."
"This is terrible", Edric said, "Mom and Dad are generally uncaring people, but this is a whole new level of cold and cruel."
"What are we going to do", Emira asked.
"I might know one thing we can do", Edric said.
Meanwhile, at the Owl House, Luz was talking to Eda, King, Willow, Gus, and Lilith about their situation.
"Here's what we're going to do", Luz said, "we're going to infiltrate Emperor Belos' castle, find Amity, and bust her out."
"Sounds simple enough", Gus said.
"But it's not", Lilith said, "Emperor Belos is probably more determined than ever to capture Luz again, so the Emperor's Coven is most likely on high alert now."
"Lilith might be onto something", Luz said, "so we'll have to be extra careful when we get to the castle."
The discussion was interrupted when Hooty stretched into the room.
"You have mail, hoot hoot", Hooty said, "it's from Anonymous."
"Another anonymous note", Eda asked.
"That's right", Hooty said.
Hooty coughed up the note and left, and after Luz read it, a look of shock appeared on her face.
"Oh no", Luz said.
"What is it", Willow asked.
"We have to go now", Luz said.
"Why", King asked.
"The note says that Amity's going to be petrified for betraying the Emperor", Luz said.
Luz showed the others the note, and they gasped in horror at the revelation.
"We've got no time to waste", Lilith said, "we must depart for the Emperor's Castle immediately!"
Eda and Lilith got onto their staffs, with Luz and King riding with the former and Willow and Gus riding with the latter, and as they flew off to the Emperor's Castle, Edric and Emira watched them from some bushes.
"Looks our anonymous note worked", Edric said, "just like the last one did."
"Bring her back, Luz", Emira said.
The six rescuers soon arrived at the Emperor's Castle and disembarked right in front of the door.
"Here we are", Luz said, "you guys ready?"
"You bet we are", Willow said, "so, what's the plan?"
"There is no plan", Luz said.
"What does that mean", King asked.
"It means we're just going to have to wing it", Luz said.
"I don't think that's such a good idea, Luz", Lilith said.
"She's right", Eda said, "with the Emperor wanting to have you back in his clutches, there's no telling what to expect in there."
"You guys, I don't think we have much time", Luz said, "if we don't hurry, Amity will be sitting on a pedestal with all the wild witches Belos has petrified over the years."
The others could see that Luz had a point.
"Alright", Eda said, "what do we do first?"
"First, we have to get inside the castle", Luz said, "and I have an idea."
An Emperor's Coven member was making his rounds, when he heard the sound of music.
"Hello", the coven member said, "what's that wonderful sound I hear?"
The coven member looked outside and saw what looked like a parade going on with a marching band and floats.
"Oh, wow", the coven member said, "a parade!"
The coven member ran off, and soon enough, he and many other members of the Emperor's Coven ran out the door to watch the parade, which, unknown to them, was just an illusion, and Luz, Eda, King, Willow, Gus, and Lilith hurried in through the open door.
"Whew", Luz said, "we made it."
"We sure did", Willow said, "nice work with that illusion, Gus."
"Thanks", Gus said, "hopefully it'll buy us some time."
"How'd you know that a parade would get the Emperor's goons' attention", Willow asked.
"Everyone loves a parade", Luz said, "they even made a board game about it."
"Cool", Willow said, "what's it called?"
"I'll tell you more about it later", Luz said, "right now, we have to split up and see if we can find where Belos is keeping Amity."
"Alright", Willow said, "Gus and I will go look down that way."
"Great", Luz said, "the rest of us will look down here."
"Got it", Gus said.
"Okay", Luz said, "let's go find Amity!"
Willow and Gus went in their direction, and Luz, Eda, King, and Lilith went in the direction they were searching, looking everywhere for signs of Amity while hiding from the few members of the Emperor's Coven who didn't leave the castle to watch the "parade," but they weren't having much luck.
"This place is huge", King said, "it'll take forever to find Amity."
"And we're running out of time", Luz said, "if we don't rescue Amity, I'll never be able to tell her that I love her too."
Luz hung her head in sadness, and Eda put her hand on her student's shoulder.
"Hey, it's going to be okay", Eda said, "we're going to rescue Amity, and everything will be fine."
"If you say so", Luz said.
Then, they heard the sound of footsteps.
"Uh-oh", King said, "someone's coming."
"Quick, hide", Luz said.
Luz, Eda, King, and Lilith hid behind a plant, and two coven members walked by.
"I can't believe Emperor Belos is petrifying that Blight girl", the first member said.
"I know", the second member said, "she's just a kid, for Titan's sake."
"It's a good thing it's not a public petrification", the first member said, "or else that'd cause some controversy for him and the coven."
"That's right", the first member said, "the only one who'll bear witness to it is the Emperor from the comfort of his throne."
Luz and the others heard all that.
"From the comfort of his throne", Luz whispered, "she must be in the throne room."
"There's no time to loose", Lilith said, "we must hurry."
The foursome stealthily hurried away, but King bumped into a table and caused a vase to fall to the ground and break, alerting the attention of the coven members.
"Uh-oh", Luz said.
The coven members walked over to Luz and the others, who were looking very nervous.
"Well, well, well", the first member said, "look what we have hear."
"It's the human", the second member said, "and also the Owl Lady, our former leader, and what can only be a puppy with a skull on its head."
"I am not a puppy", King said, "I am the King of Demons!"
"Sure, and I'm the Emperor's ex-wife", the second member said.
"You were foolish to think you could sneak past us", the first member said, "we are alert, observant, ever-vigilant, and we never let our guards down."
At that moment, Willow and Gus walked over wearing Emperor's Coven uniforms.
"We'll take it from here", Willow said.
"Oh boy", the first member said, "come on Dave, let's go get some ice cream."
"Right behind you, Rick", Dave said.
The two coven members, whose names were Rick and Dave, walked away to get some ice cream, not realizing that they had just been tricked.
"Willow, Gus", Luz said, "you two are geniuses."
"Thanks", Gus said, "we were just trying on the costumes for fun, but then Willow suggested we use them as disguises."
"Nice going", Luz said, "well, we found out where Amity might be, so now we're going to go rescue her."
"Gus and I will keep a lookout for you", Willow said, "in case there's any more trouble."
"Thanks", Luz said, "now let's go!"
Luz went with Eda, King, and Lilith to the Emperor's throne room, and as Willow and Gus walked away, the bumped into none other than Odalia Blight, who did not look happy at all.
"Oh", Willow said, "hi, Mrs. Blight."
"What are you two doing", Odalia asked.
Willow and Gus looked at each other as they tried to come up with something.
"We're new recruits", Gus asked.
But Odalia wasn't buying it.
"We got the invitations to join last night", Willow said.
Odalia still didn't buy it, and Willow and Gus could tell.
"You know what, we'll show ourselves out", Willow said.
"Wise decision", Odalia said.
And with that, Willow and Gus began making their way to the exit.
"Well, so much for keeping a lookout", Gus said.
"I sure hope Luz and the others make it in time", Willow said.
Meanwhile, Luz, Eda, King, and Lilith arrived at the entrance to Emperor Belos' throne room, but before entering, Lilith had something to say.
"I must warn you", Lilith said, "within this room is a sight that some of you may find to be very disturbing."
"Do hot chicks sit on the Emperor's lap when he's on his throne", Eda asked.
Eda chuckled at her own joke, and Lilith let out an annoyed growl.
"Why do I even bother", Lilith asked.
Lilith opened the door, and they entered the throne room, which was pitch black.
"Why's it so dark in here", King asked.
"Hang on", Luz said.
Luz pulled out a light glyph and tapped it, and the paper turned into a ball of light, which Luz used to help her see, and eventually, they found Amity locked in a cage.
"Amity", Luz said.
"Luz", Amity said.
Luz hurried over to the cage.
"You came back", Amity said.
"How could I not", Luz said, "I can't just let the girl who loves me get petrified."
Amity was surprised to hear this.
"You mean you figured out that I like you", Amity said.
"That's right", Luz said, "and also, I like you too."
Amity was happy to hear this.
"You really mean it", Amity said.
"I sure do", Luz said.
"Oh, Luz", Amity said.
"How poetic", a voice said.
Everyone looked in the direction the voice came from and saw Emperor Belos standing at the doorway.
"The happy couple is having one final moment together", Belos said.
The door shut behind him, and the lights turned on, lighting up the room and revealing things like the petrification device and the Titan's heart, the latter of which frightened Eda.
"Holy Titan, what is that thing", Eda asked.
"I tried to warn you", Lilith said.
"Welcome back, human", Belos said, "I was hoping you'd show up."
Luz turned to Belos and pulled some glyphs out of her pocket.
"Let her go", Luz said, "or the Emperor's Coven becomes just the Coven."
"Let's not get ahead of ourselves", Belos said, "I'm willing to be reasonable about this."
"Like you were about Lilith bringing me to you", Eda asked.
"Silence", Belos said.
Belos pulled out his staff, and cast a spell that froze Eda, King, and Lilith in place.
"Anywho, here is my offer", Belos said, "I'm willing to free the Blight girl, and, as a bonus, allow your allies to go free as well, if you remain here to fulfill your destiny."
Luz was shocked by Belos' offer.
"And if I refuse", Luz asked.
"You may walk out of this castle", Belos said, "but Amity and your other friends shall become permanent additions to my collection of petrified witches."
Luz was torn by the choice she was presented, and she looked back and forth at Belos, Amity, and her other friends as she struggled to come up with a choice.
"You'd better choose, Luz", Belos said, "or I choose for you."
At last, Luz came to a decision.
"Fine", Luz said, "I surrender."
"Excellent", Belos said.
Luz walked over to Belos, and he put his hand on her shoulder.
"Don't do it, Luz", Amity said.
"I have to", Luz said.
Belos began walking away with Luz.
"Worry not, my dear", Belos said, "you will soon come to realize that this was the right decision."
"You're right", Luz said.
"What", Belos asked.
"This was the right decision", Luz said, "because it's your downfall."
Luz pulled out an abomination glyph, dropped it on the floor, and tapped it, causing an abomination to rise from the ground.
"What", Belos asked.
"Abomination, destroy that machine", Luz said.
The abomination complied and brought down its mighty fists on the petrification device, severely damaging it.
"No", Belos shouted.
"Abomination, attack", Luz said.
The abomination ran towards Belos and punched him, sending him flying back into his throne.
"That should do it", Luz said.
Luz tapped the piece of paper, causing the abomination to disappear, and hurried over to free Amity.
"Hang tight, Amity", Luz said, "I'm going to get you out of here."
Luz put a fire glyph over the lock and tapped it, and it melted away, allowing her to open the cage door and Amity to run out and hug her.
"Oh, Luz", Amity said.
Luz returned the hug, and Eda, who had been freed from Belos' spell with King and Lilith after he had been knocked back, ran over to them.
"Excuse me", Eda said, "I hate to cut in on the moment, but I think it's time for us to go."
"Oh, right", Luz said, "come on, you guys!"
Luz, Amity, Eda, King, and Lilith hurried away, and Kikimora walked into the throne room and saw Belos on his throne.
"My liege", Kikimora said.
Kikimora hurried over to Belos' aid.
"What happened", Kikimora asked.
"Luz", Belos said, "she came back and escaped with the Blight daughter."
"Oh dear", Kikimora said, "what should we do."
Belos was about to respond, but he felt a great deal of pain.
"What is it, my lord", Kikimora asked.
"Need palisman", Belos said.
"Very well", Kikimora said, "I will get you one right away!"
Kikimora hurried away to get a palisman for Belos to consume, and after she had gone, he looked out his doorway.
"I'll get you yet, Luz Noceda", Belos said.
