Chapter 2
A/N: So it's been a while since I watched Once Upon A Time. If Maleficent and Regina are slightly out of character, I apologize. On with the story!
"Do you think mom will ever turn back?" the pre-teen boy from the vision asks. He appears to be between 11 and 12, but small for his age. His purple and blue shirt was loose on his skinny frame, and his black skinny jeans were dragging on the floor. His eyes weren't as bright of a green as Hadley's and Mal's. Being closer to a yellow-green. He was facing a platinum-haired 17-year-old girl as she adjusted his black beanie. "Oh and Elyse, your hands are cold."
"Malice, I have ice powers. My skin is always cold," Elyse points out as she gets the beanie settled just right. "Maybe we should try a baseball cap. I feel like it would look better."
"I have one here," Hadley says as she climbs off her bed and grabs the black baseball cap with blue accents off of her nightstand. Herkie gave it to her for her 15th birthday. She walks over to her younger brother and pulls off the beanie, making his hair stick up before putting the cap on him backwards. "Mom won't turn back. She never was a good mom so it's for the better."
Malice scratches the back of his head as he looks down. Even though Maleficent wasn't much of a mother to him, he still cares about her. His empathy is what convinced the Council to let him over. Unlike the other VKs, he wasn't on a trial period. His age and size worked in his favor. Mal, Evie, Carlos, and Jay were seen as threats when they first arrived. Hadley was seen as defenseless because of the broken leg. Malice is seen as a scrawny kid, making his stay at the high school easier. "Don't you wish that mom ever cared?"
"Yeah… but I don't worry about it. She will never change," Hadley states after a moment of thought. She had it easier than her siblings growing up thanks to Hades and Persephone caring about her and Hadie. Mal was the one to raise Malice because of Hadley being too young to help at first. She walks over to Malice and pulls him into a hug. Knowing that her little brother needs the affection. "You always have the option of going to Arendale with me or Castle Beast with Mal. We both managed to find families with our significant others."
"I know… I'll just keep hoping that maybe mom changes," Malice says as he sits down on his bed. Little did they all know, Malice's wish was about to be granted.
A purple vortex opened up in the middle of the forest by the school. The two villains from Storybrooke are thrown up out of the portal and land on the grass next to the vortex. Two suitcases landing next to them. Not far from the portal. Mal was sitting under a tree working on an art project. When the adults appear, she jumps up and quickly backs away from the portal. "Well the landing could have been smoother," Regina comments as she gets up and brushes off her silk black slacks. When she notices Mal, she knows that they are in the correct realm.
"Who are you? How did you summon a portal?" Mal asks as she pulls out her phone. Only needing their identities before texting Ben about a possible threat.
"I'm Maleficent," Maleficent says as she gets up and fixes her black hat. When she meets the teen's gaze, she sees the worry and confusion. "My friend here is Regina. Your realm would know her as the Evil Queen."
Right as Mal sends Ben the text about the two villains, Regina scoffs. "We aren't here to take over Auradon," Regina states knowing that the teen likely texted for backup.
Fairy Godmother appears next to Mal shortly after the text was sent. Wand in hand so she can teleport the villains to an interrogation room in Castle Beast. "I was sent to bring the two of you to the castle to be questioned. The girl who will be asking you the questions is on her way there now," the fairy explains before waving her wand. The villains and their bags disappear in a cloud of blue smoke.
"Is Hadley questioning instead of guards?" Mal asks once the villains are gone. Hadley has been sitting in on mock interrogations for the past few months. As training just in case a villain needs to be questioned.
"Ben thought she would be the best choice," Fairy Godmother states before waving her wand one more time. She and Mal disappear from the forest and appear in a room filled with cameras in Castle Beat. In the cameras, they could see the two villains sitting at a table in a magic-proof room.
Hadley walks into the room with an air of confidence. Aviators on even though she is inside and a blue pleather jacket on despite it being quite warm. A little bit of ice on her right shoulder remaining from the car ride. "How did the two of you make a portal? It is supposed to be near impossible."
"They sent a kid in to question us? The king here is risking a child getting hurt?" Regina states having expected a hero or a guard to come question them. Not one of Maleficent's daughters in this realm.
"You won't hurt me. If the two of you were planning on attacking kids, my sister wouldn't be alive," Hadley says confidently. Being called a kid didn't faze her. It's the reason why she was chosen. Ben thought Hadley's age would make her more trustworthy. "So the portal… magic bean, magic hat, or a wish?"
Maleficent was looking at Hadley trying to see if there are any similarities between them. The only thing she could see being similar is her confidence. "Magic bean. We needed a fresh start. A second chance," she says calmly. Figuring the process will move along faster if they told the entire truth to the girl. Perhaps it will open up the chance for them to get to know their children in this realm.
"What do you consider a second chance? World domination?" Hadley asks seeing if she could throw the villains for a loop. So far, she couldn't sense any ill intentions from the adults. A good sign for the travelers.
"We lost our families. They don't want or need us anymore so we left. A fresh start seemed needed," Regina says. Noticing that the teenager seemed to be relaxing. That she believes the story they are telling her, which thankfully was the truth. This girl could be their gateway to the other children.
"How did you lose your families?" Hadley asks. Leaning forward on the table arms crossed on it. This last answer will determine what she tells Ben. So far, they've passed.
"My daughter is in her 30s, she was taken by heroes. I missed my chance to raise her," Maleficent states as she takes off her black hat and sets it on the table.
"I have a 20-year-old and a 14-year-old. My older child, Amelia, went back to her father to live on his pirate ship. My son wanted his birth mother," Regina admits after a minute of silence. Unlike Maleficent, Regina got to raise her adoptive children. At least Amelia stuck around until she was 18. Henry is still a child in her eyes. Making his rejection all the more painful.
After a minute, Hadley stands up and walks over to the door. "I believe you two. I'll see what I can do," she states before leaving the heroes in the room.
A/N: So as I write this story, I will be working on a fanfiction about Amelia. Starting at season One of OUAT. So I will be working on that story for a bit.
