After enjoying the various desserts offered that ranged from Dango to dorayaki to mochi and more, Fat Gum and his interns were nearing the end of their lunch break and were getting ready to head out- making sure to find Risa before they did.
"Thanks again for the meal, Miss Risa!" Red Riot said, grinning at her.
"Yes, t-thank you," Suneater meekly added.
Risa smiled. "You're welcome here anytime you'd like. Thank you again for saving me yesterday." She walked them to the door and stood just outside, waving as they started heading out.
"If you're ever interested in becoming a hero, Miss Risa, you're welcome to stop by my agency," Fat Gum offered, looking down at her as she stood more than two heads shorter than him.
Risa's smile grew and she put her hands behind her head, looking up at him. "Thanks, but my place is here." She looked at the restaurant lovingly. "Mazeru means everything to us and it's my job to keep it safe, to help Gramps however I can in his old age, and keep Granny's memory alive best I can."
Fat Gum smiled at that. "Well, the offer still stands. Anyway, I should catch up with the boys, so thanks again for the wonderful food."
Risa returned her gaze to him, beaming at him. "You're welcome here anytime you'd like, so I'll look forward to your next visit."
Fat Gum was taken a bit by surprise at that comment, finding his cheeks beginning to blush when she added, "You're doing a good job teaching those boys, they're going to be great heroes one of these days." She reached up and patted his arm as she headed back to the entrance. "You're an excellent role model and they're lucky to have you." He stood there a moment, processing what she said before an embarrassed smile grew and he turned towards where Red Riot and Suneater were awaiting him.
'She sure is something,' he said to himself, catching up to his interns and taking one last glance at Mazeru. 'I'm definitely going to come back.'
The rest of the day was uneventful and sluggishly slow, as Wednesdays typically were for Mazeru, so Risa and Seiryo spent most of the time cleaning, repairing the damage that Matsuro did, and getting food prep ready for the following day.
"Well, that's the last of the dishes, why don't we call it a night?"
Risa looked at Seiryo. "You sure? There's still some prep to do."
"We've done enough to tide us over 'til after breakfast rush."
"Alright, if you say so," Risa stretched and looked at the clock. "Should we close up and take a walk around town?"
"Sure, that sounds wonderful actually," Seiryo said, nodding. "It'll be nice to have some fresh air after a long day."
"I think there's a vendor fest going on tonight, too, we could go check that out?"
"First thing's first, let's get washed up."
Risa chuckled. "Alright, you go on ahead, Gramps, I'll clean up here." She waited for her grandfather to go upstairs to their home, then when the door closed behind him she made her way outside and stood with her arms crossed. "What do you want? Didn't I already make it clear? I'm not interested."
The one she spoke to was the current head of the criminal organization- the Dorifutā Gang- that her father had been apart of, a man by the name of Kenzan Haruno.
"Your quirk is wasted here, Risa," Kenzan said, stepping closer. "I mean using it to cook? That's just sad."
"I'll use my quirk however I see fit, thank you, now get off my property." Risa flared her quirk slightly, making her eyes glow like they did before.
Kenzan put his hands up and stepped back. "Fine, fine, but I'm not giving up on you. Your father was a great man, well-liked in the organization, and they would welcome you with open arms, too."
"Not. Interested." Risa flared her quirk a bit more, tiny balls of her Frostfire beginning to dance eerily in the air around her like a dozen will-o'-the-wisps. "Leave."
"Say no more," Kenzan offered her a somewhat sarcastic bow. "I'll be seeing you again, soon."
Risa stood there with her Frostfire Wisps until she was sure that Kenzan was gone, then turned to go back inside.
For months now, Kenzan had been bugging her about joining the Dorifutā Gang and taking her father's place- nearly sixteen years after his death- but she had no interest in taking on any sort of criminal activity. She loved Mazeru and intended on doing the best she could for her grandfather.
Quickly finishing the cleaning and shutting off the lights, making sure the main entrance was locked, Risa made her way up to her home and sighed. 'That man needs to give it a rest already...'
"Risa, shower's free."
"Thanks, Gramps."
Seiryo knew something was on her mind, but she gave him the "I don't want to talk about it right now" smile and excused herself. 'What's going on, Risa?'
Down the hall, Risa grabbed a fresh change of clothes before going to the bathroom where she set her clean clothes to the side, then tossed her dirty clothes in the hamper and stepped into the steaming water- letting it wash over her.
Feeling much better as the warmth seeped into her body, she sighed with content. 'Much better.'
She washed her hair and let the conditioner sit in her hair a moment as her thoughts turned towards Fat Gum and his interns. She had never met the pro hero before but was well aware of his reputation and prowess in battle. He made enough of a name for himself that even just mentioning him was enough to give underground folks pause.
'He's not that bad, seems sweet enough.' she thought.
Risa rinsed out the conditioner and finished rinsing off her body, then hopped out of the shower to dry off and get dressed- slipping on some baggy shorts and a tank top before throwing her hair up in a messy bun while it dried.
'I did enjoy seeing them today, though, I do hope they come back.'
