AN: I want to apologize for the mistakes in the last few chapters and for the delay. I have more and more projects in college and the inspiration is not always there for me. I hope to finish the story in the coming weeks, but if that doesn't happen, please be patient. I promise you this story will be over by Christmas. Thank you for your messages and replies. Until next time.

CHAPTER 8
On his way to Remy's, Rick decided to call his mother, to let her know about this case, as Kate named it.
"Hello, Mother."
"Oh, hello Richard. How are you, son?"
"I'm good, I think. I wanted to tell you something. It's about my daughter."
"Please tell me you found her." Martha was so excited that Rick thought his mother's hopes would be crushed. But again, it was about his Mother, not just any woman and but the one that believes in every day's magic and soul mates.
"Not yet, Mother. I asked Roy to help me and he gave the information to another detective. We went to the agency today, but as expected they didn't give us anything. And now I'm going to her place to put together all the information we have."
"Her place? This sounds interesting."
"It's nothing like that. She's just helping me. I am not interested in starting a relationship. And besides, she has a daughter, maybe a husband or a boyfriend. Alright, Mother, I have to go."
"Good. Please let me know if you find anything."
"Of course! Take care of yourself!"
"You too! I love you kiddo, no matter what!"
"I know! I love you too! Bye Mother!" and he hung up as he arrived at Remy's. He ordered two big burgers with fries and two shakes, a chocolate one and a strawberry one. Now he had to go to get the coffees too. Thank god his favorite place was near Remy's. He took their coffees, a black one for him and a Grande Skim Latte, two pumps of sugar-free vanilla. He didn't know if she would like it, but it suited her somehow. 20 minutes later, Rick called Kate to let her know he's out front.
When Kate got home, her dad was having a tea party with Alexis. They even dressed up as princesses and Jim wasn't bothered at all about it. He loved to spend time with his granddaughter, even if that means wearing a tiara.
"Katie, you want to join us?" he asked his daughter.
"As cute as you both are, I'm afraid I can't. And it's already late and you need to go to your firm."
"You're right. I didn't even realize how quickly the time passed. I don't think I'm coming back today. I have a meeting with the dean of NYU. He wants to know me better if I'm going to teach there."
"They didn't tell you exactly if you're accepted there, right?"
"Not yet. But when I will have an answer, you're going to be the first person that's going to find out. I'd better go because I see you're trying to get rid of me. Are you expecting someone?"
"What? No, dad. That's not true. You can stay here all day if you want, and you already know that. And yes. Rick Castle is going to come here. I don't want to drop this case, and we have to put together all the information we have. Alexis is going to take a nap soon, and we can work."
"I can postpone the meeting, if necessary."
"Don't need to, dad. It's only for a few hours."
"Okay then. I will go, but I will call you tonight."
"All right dad. If you're not going to call me, I will, because I want to know about the meeting."
"Of course you will. Let me hug my little princess and I'm out."
Just then Kate's phone rang.
"Sorry, dad. I have to get this."
"Go ahead."
"Hi, Rick. Yeah, I already told the doorman you're coming. He's going to guide you. Okay, see you in a few."
"So, this Rick is here and I'm going to meet him."
"DAD! First, I'm helping Rick find his daughter. And second, I don't plan to date someone I work with. I don't plan to date someone at all. So don't make this awkward, please. Why are you laughing now?"
"Because I'm teasing you and you thought I'm being serious."
"Ha-ha, dad. You're so funny."
"I know. Now, what about you hug me so I can get out of your way?"
"I love you, dad," Kate said while hugging Jim.
"I love you too, Katie bug. Talk to you later!"
Just when Jim was about to get out of his daughter's apartment, Rick appeared.
"I'm sorry to bother you, sir. Do you know if this is Kate Beckett's apartment? The doorman told me, but I didn't understand too well."
Jim thought about making fun of him but decided against this idea.
"Yes, it is. I'm Jim, Kate's father. And if I'm not wrong, you have to be Rick."
"You're right. I'm Rick Castle. Kate is helping me with a case."
"She told me something about it. Let me get her, so you two can start. Come in."
"Thank you, sir!" and Rick entered Kate's apartment. It wasn't as huge as his loft, but it looked so good he was impressed.
He didn't have to wait more than a few seconds until Jim was out of what Rick thought it's the baby's room.
"Kate is going to be here in a few minutes. Now if you'll
excuse me, I have to go. It was nice to meet you, Rick."
"Likewise, sir!"
And with that, Rick was left alone in Kate's apartment.
Well, not alone, only for a few seconds. That gave him enough time to look
around, but all he saw were pictures of a baby. Wait for a second! On one of
Kate's shelves were his books. So he did help her and now she's trying to help
him. This is the work of the universe. 'Wait until Mother finds out about
this.'
"Hey, Rick. Sorry I made you wait. I had to put Alexis to sleep. It seems the princess's tea party with grandpa is exhausting."
"Oh, that sounds cool!"
"You should have seen my dad wearing a tiara." Kate snorted, but then she was serious again.
"Everything he does is just to see my baby smile."
"I would have done the same thing if I was in his place. But I think I would have had the whole outfit prepared for the party."
That made Kate laugh so hard she had tears in her eyes.
"Of course you would. Now, if you want, we can start. I have a whiteboard in my room, let me get it."
After a couple of hours of no leads, Kate got a call from Esposito.
"Hey, Espo! How are you?"
"Hey, girl! I had better days. You know, not all of us can work from home."
"Yeah, well not all of has have a daughter."
"Touchè. I will get straight to the point. We have a weird case and we are stuck; it looks like your specialty. Can I email you some pictures and the details we have? We could use another pair of eyes."
"Sure. I will take a look and call you back if I find something."
"Great, thank you. And give a kiss to my little sobrina. We will wait for your call." And Espo hung up.
Rick was up from the couch to do some stretches.
"Rick, do you mind if we take a break? My colleagues need my help with a case."
"Not at all. I was about to ask you if we can let it for another time. Soon your daughter would wake up and as I said before, I don't want to scare her."
"Of course, if you're sure. Let me just open my emails and then we can decide about when you can come again."
"Alright."
"That can't be right."
"What happened? Is something wrong?"
"I can't do this, but can you look at these pictures for a moment? Tell me these scenes are not familiar to you."
"Oh my god! These are crime scenes?"
"Yes. And it looks like we have to deal with a serial killer."
"But these are from my books. 'Hell Hath No Fury', 'Death Of A Prom Queen' and 'Flowers For Your Grave'. How can someone do this?"
"I have no idea. Can you think of someone? Did you receive disturbing letters?"
"All the time, but I didn't think one of my fans can do this. Look, Kate. I want to help you. Please let me do it. It's my fault this happened, and I want to solve it."
"Let me call the boys and tell them. And after we have to call Montgomery."
Just when Kate was on the phone with the boys, Alexis decided to wake up and cry for her 'ma'. Kate couldn't go to her, so she asked Rick. He didn't know if he was afraid of not scaring Alexis, or if he was scared about interacting with a baby.
"Are you sure?" but Kate only nodded, and he goes in the direction of Alexis's crying.
"Hi, baby. I'm Rick. Oh, don't cry." The moment Rick got her in his arms, Alexis stopped crying. So it wasn't so hard to calm a baby. In the corner of his eye, Rick saw Kate was watching them from the doorway.
