This is my first Ultraman fanfic without it being a crossover: it's based off Ultraman Z. After the finale, I came up with an idea: what if after Z takes off to space, he and Haruki return to do something important.
I don't own Ultraman or their characters, Tsuburaya Productions owns them.
Earth, STORAGE:
At her desk in the office, Yoko Nakashima was looking at a picture of her and Hakuki on their "date" when STORAGE got disbanded. She smiled as she was remembering all the times she and Haruki had spent together then she was thinking about her most recent memory: finding out that Haruki was Ultraman Z.
"Thinking about Haruki?" Yoko looked up to see Kojiro Inaba aka Bako smiling down at her. "STORAGE won't be the same with him gone. But I'm sure he'll be okay, he's an Ultraman." He reassured her and Yoko nodded.
"I hope we see him again." Yoko told him but what didn't know, Yoko felt more than friendship to Haruki.
In Space:
Ultraman Z, in his original form, flew past the planet Neptune when he stopped and turned around : he was looking in the direction of Earth.
"Haruki, are you alright?" Z asked as he was talking to Haruki, who had been quiet since they flew past the moon.
"Yeah, just missing everyone." Haruki answered then Z looked down at his chest as he placed his right hand on his Color Timer. "But I told them I'll come back. Let's go, Z." Haruki told Z but the young Ultraman shook his head.
"Haruki, are you just missing the team? Or just someone in particular whose first name starts with the letter Y?" Z asked and inside, Haruki smiled as he couldn't hide from his partner and best friend: he had a crush on Yoko but never told her as he knew that she would never feel the same.
"Sometimes you need to follow your heart instead of your head," A voice bellowed, Z turned around to see Ultraman Zero flying towards them. "Z, Haruki: go back to Earth. The universe can wait for you two, it's not going anywhere." Zero told them and while Z nodded, Haruki was feeling nervous.
"Are you sure, Master Zero?" Haruki asked and Zero nodded then wiped his top lip with his right hand.
"I'm sure. Go on now." Zero told them then Z flew back towards Earth while Zero watched as the duo flew away. "Gotta thank Leito for the parental advice." Zero told himself then he flew off in the opposite direction.
Earth:
Wandering in the woods alone, Jugglus Juggler aka Hebikura Shota was thinking about his time at STORAGE and how he had changed since he was with the team. He looked up at the sky to look at the clouds to see a dark figure heading towards the wooded area.
"I wonder why they're back," Juggler asked as the figure flew closer: it was Ultraman Z. Hebikura ran towards the area where Z had landed, he then watched as the Ultraman glowed blue then started to shrink until he changed back to being Haruki. "So, you're back? Change of plans?" Jugglus asked which caught Haruki's attention.
"Captain?" Haruki asked but Hebikura shook his head then changed into his alien form. "What do I call you then?" Haruki asked as he didn't know what to call the former Captain of STORAGE.
"I'm Jugglus Juggler." The alien told Haruki his name and the host of Z nodded. "May I ask why you came back? I thought you had gone to protect the universe." Juggler was curious then Haruki looked at the ground as he put his hands in his pockets.
"Z brought me back as I've got something I have to do," Haruki told his former captain which made Juggler curious. "What about you, Juggler?" Haruki asked as he was curious to know what Juggler was going to do.
"I thought I might wander around: see what I can." He told Haruki as he reverted back to his human form. "Being with you lot made me realize how important life is. I might give being good another go." Juggler told him and it made Haruki smile. "Now, what was the important thing you have to do?" He asked and it made Haruki feel embarrassed. "Oh… I know what it is. Good luck, Haruki. Until we meet again." Juggler smiled and before Haruki could say anything, he disappeared in a cloud of purple smoke.
"Kay! Time to get going!" Haruki encouraged himself then he started running as fast as he could towards STORAGE, he had something important to do.
Maintenance room:
Yoko had gone downstairs and was now looking at the three robots: Sevenger, Windom and King Joe Custom. She was remembering the final battle against Destrudos when Haruki jumped out of King Joe Custom and flew towards her, he then changed into Ultraman Z: he risked his secret to save her.
"He'll come back," Yoko looked behind her to see her best friend, Yuka Ohta, walking towards her. "He said he would during the Summer and New Years." Yuka reminded her and Yoko nodded with a smile.
"Just kinda wished Haruki stayed a while before leaving. Captain's left and now Haruki, who's next?" Yoko asked as she was feeling down, Yuka could tell that there was more than Yoko was revealing.
Office:
Haruki walked into the main office where he and others would work on their paperwork and gossip, mostly with Yoko talking about Z. Haruki smiled as he sat at his desk then took out all the Medals he had in the Z Holder: Zero, Seven, Leo, Ultraman, Ace, Taro, Tiga, Dyna, Gaia, Geed, Belial, Cosmos, Nexus, Mebius, Jack, Zoffy, Father of Ultra, Ginga, X and Orb.
"Thanks to our journey together, Z and I have so many Ultra Medals." Haruki smiled then he moved the Zero, Geed and Belial Medals close together: they evolved into the Ultra Rise Medals, creating Zero Beyond, Geed and Belial Atrocious.
"Haruki?" Haruki looked up to smiling at him, he walked over and the pair shook hands. "I'm guessing these are what gave you Z's power?" asked and Haruki nodded, he picked up the Ace Medal and handed it to to look at.
"They contain the powers of Ultras: that Medal has a sample of the power of Ultraman Ace." Haruki explained and nodded as he was impressed with the power that such a small Medal had inside it.
"Quite extraordinary!" exclaimed then he handed the Ace Medal back to Haruki, he then watched the young man open a blue box on his belt and put all the Medals back inside. "Anyways, what brings you back? I thought you and Z were going to help others out in the universe." spoke as he leant against a table as Haruki got up and walked over to the coffee machine.
"Z told me to come back and do something important," Haruki answered then he looked at Yoko's desk. "I had someone important to talk to." He added and looked at the same desk then nodded with a smile.
"Yoko's gone out. She wanted to go out and take a break from STORAGE work." explained and Haruki nodded with a smile, he was about to run off when placed a hand on his shoulder. "Might I suggest a change of clothing?" suggested and Haruki nodded, he ran off to get change while stayed behind and smiled.
City Streets:
Yoko was walking through the shopping district, she wanted to get some new clothes as she wanted to change. She walked into the first shop she saw and started looking around, she picked up some new jeans, t-shirts and a new leather jacket.
"These look great! I wish Haruki was here, though. He always had good taste." Yoko told herself then she smiled. She was always doing things the way she was told: arm wrestle men to see how strong they are and if they won, they could marry her. But for the first time, she had fallen for Haruki and no matter how many times he lost, his determination made Yoko admire him. Yoko had paid for the clothes and left then her phone started ringing, she took it out and answered it.
"Yoko, it's me." It was Yuka and she sounded excited. "I just found out something from : Haruki's back!" Yuka shouted which made Yoko smile and her heart accelerate: seeing Haruki always made her happy.
"Thank you for telling me, Yuka. I'll come back to see him." Yoko told her friend and started walking back towards STORAGE.
"Don't bother. I heard that he's on his way to you." Yuka added and Yoko smiled then looked at herself: wearing long black socks, black boots, blue shorts, a white blouse and a black jacket.
"Oh… okay. Talk later." Yoko told her then hung up, she put her phone back in her pocket and put her shopping bag on the floor then took her hair down. "Why do I feel like a schoolgirl again? Having a crush on the popular guy in school? Calm down, Yoko. It's Haruki." Yoko told herself as for the first time, she was feeling nervous to see Haruki.
A few minutes had passed and Yoko was sitting outside a coffee shop, across the road from the shop she had left. She looked behind her in time to see Haruki running towards her, he was smiling and it made Yoko smile.
"Yoko, I found you." Haruki sighed as he stopped next to her seat, he was out of breath as he sat down opposite. "You wouldn't believe how many clothing shops I looked in to find you." Haruki was out of breath so Yoko went inside the coffee shop and ordered an iced coffee.
"Changed your mind about flying through the universe and helping others?" Yoko asked with a smile as she stirred her iced coffee with the straw.
"Me and Z discussed it and we decided… to stay." Haruki told her which surprised Yoko. "There are other Ultramen out in space and we agreed that there should be one here: to help protect it." Haruki explained just as his drink arrived, the young man then started to drink to regain his strength.
"And you came all this way to tell me that?" Yoko asked curiously as she looked up to see Haruki smiling nervously at her. "There's more, isn't there?" She asked and Haruki nodded. "Well, there was actually something I wanted to say before you and Lord Z left." Yoko admitted then Haruki had an idea.
"Why don't we write down what we want to say then let the other people read it," Haruki suggested and Yoko nodded, she watched as Haruki took out a bit of paper from his pocket and tore it in half. "I always keep some with me, in case I need to remember something." Haruki explained and Yoko chuckled, he then handed Yoko a pen and they both started to write their "secret" down.
"You finished?" Yoko curiously asked as she hid what she had written under her hand. Haruki did the same thing and nodded with a smile of confidence. They turned over their pieces of paper and exchanged them and at the same time, the pair turned over their piece of paper and read what it said. "Haruki, did you use Lord Z's power to quickly swap back?" Yoko asked as she was confused but Haruki shook his head.
"I can't use Z's power in human form, Yoko." Haruki explained then he looked down at what Yoko had written, they slowly showed each other what was written on the pieces of paper and it said the same thing: I really like you. "You feel the same way I feel to you, Yoko?" Haruki asked as he felt nervous but Yoko nodded with a smile then held Haruki's hand.
"Haruki, I admit I have a crush on Lord Z but I'm sure that loads of women have crushes on tough men. Even Yuka, I bet." Yoko told him and Haruki nodded. "So while I do have a crush on Lord Z, I've secretly liked you more." Haruki smiled then placed his other hand on top of Yoko's hand.
"I've never liked someone, no…" Haruki paused then took a deep breath and smiled at Yoko. "I've never loved someone as much as I love you, Yoko." Haruki confessed and it made Yoko smile and blush. "You're kind hearted, funny, tough and may I add, beautiful." Haruki admitted and hearing all that made Yoko feel like a teenager in love again.
"Well, I fell for you for several reasons," Yoko started as she pushed her hair behind her ears. "You're funny, kind, determined, strong and willing to do whatever you can to help people." Yoko blushed then Haruki got up and sat next to her, the pair were now holding hands.
"There's only one more thing to do," Haruki spoke and Yoko was puzzled by what Haruki meant. "Yoko, will you like to be my girlfriend?" Haruki asked as he was still feeling nervous. Yoko smiled then gave Haruki a kiss on the cheek which Haruki didn't see coming.
"Does that answer your question?" Yoko asked with a smile and Haruki nodded with a huge grin as he placed his hand on the spot where Yoko kissed.
"Come with me, Yoko." Haruki suggested and Yoko was puzzled and while she was figuring it out, Haruki had paid for the drink then led Yoko towards the woodland area.
Woodland area:
Haruki and Yoko were now far away from anyone so Haruki took out the Z Riser and looked at Yoko with a smile. Yoko put the two together then she finally understood what Haruki was planning.
"How would you like to fly around with me and Z?" Haruki asked with a smile which made Yoko smile. "And even better, you pick the Medals." Haruki told her as he opened the Z Holder and took out all the form Medals, he placed them in Yoko's hands and she started to look.
"These three." Yoko looked at Haruki and he looked at the Medals Yoko had picked: they were the Zero, Geed and Belial Medals but they changed into the Ultra Rise Medals.
"Kay. Let's do this, Z." Haruki chuckled as he pressed the activation button, causing his Ultra Access Card to appear in the air. Haruki grabbed it then inserted it into the Riser.
"Haruki! Access Granted!" The Z Riser announced. Haruki turned around and placed the other Medals back into the Holder, except the three Yoko had picked.
"Together." Haruki suggested and Yoko nodded.
"Swallow the darkness! The golden storm!" The pair shouted together then Yoko slowly inserted one Medal at a time. "Master Zero! ! Belial!" Once all three Medals were in the slots, Haruki and Yoko turned the fin on the Riser whilst it scanned the Medals.
"Zero Beyond! Geed! Belial Atrocious!" The Z Riser announced then the holo silhouettes of Ultraman Zero Beyond, Ultraman Geed Primitive and Ultraman Belial Atrocious appeared behind Haruki. Yoko stepped back just as Ultraman Z, in his original form, appeared and held his arms out to the side.
"I ask that you chant my name! Ultraman Z!" Z shouted and Haruki nodded then Yoko ran over and held the Riser with him.
"Ultraman Z!" The couple shouted then they pressed the activation button; causing Haruki and the three silhouettes to merge with Z.
"Ultraman Z: Delta Rise Claw!" In a flash of gold, red and purple; Ultraman Z had transformed into Delta Rise Claw. He then knelt down and picked up Yoko in his hand, he then looked up and slowly took off into the sky.
The Sky:
As Z was flying around, Yoko was holding tight and looking down at the city: she had heard about couples doing extraordinary things for one another. But she doubted that any of them went as far as Haruki had gone for her: he used Z's power to transform and was now flying around, showing her the view.
"You found yourself an amazing person to be with, Yoko." Z spoke and Yoko smiled as she had never heard Z speak before, only grunt. "Hold on, I'm gonna try something." Z advised then he moved his hand closer to his Color Timer, Yoko slowly moved towards it then walked through: she had walked through the Hero's Gate and was now next to Haruki.
"Is this how excited Yuka gets over aliens?" Yoko asked as she was so excited to be with Haruki flying with Ultraman Z. "This is amazing!" Yoko shouted and Haruki chuckled then the pair held the Z Riser together as Z flew up higher until they were now in space. "It's so beautiful." Yoko exclaimed as she was looking at space through the eyes of Z and Haruki nodded.
"Let's head back and tell everyone the good news. What do you say, Yoko?" Haruki asked with a smile and Yoko nodded as she was also smiling. "Z, let's head back to STORAGE." Haruki shouted and Z nodded then he turned around and flew back towards Earth.
"You two are an Ultra-awesome couple." Z complimented and that made both Haruki and Yoko happy as now they had revealed their feelings for each other, their new lives as a couple had officially begun.
STORAGE:
All the robot maintenance members, including and Yuka were in the robot hangar bay waiting as Yuka had received a text message from Yoko: she had asked her friend to get everyone together and wait for a special announcement. Suddenly, a huge glowing Z appeared then it changed into a doorway, everyone watched as Haruki and Yoko walked out of it.
"What the…?" Yuka was speechless as she knew that Haruki could take someone into Z's dimension.
"Everyone's here, Yoko. What's the announcement?" told her and before Yoko or Haruki said anything, a purple portal appeared and out stepped Juggler in his human form; wearing his traditional black suit with purple shirt and his hair curved to the side.
"Now, everyone is here." Hebikura spoke then he smiled at everyone. Haruki and Yoko smiled at each other then they held each other's hands.
"Haruki and I are together." Yoko told everyone then they all started cheering and congratulating them, then Yuka jumped in and congratulated Yoko while congratulated Haruki.
"Congratulations, you two." Hebikura complimented and the young couple smiled then Haruki walked over and held out his hand, Hebikura chuckled then he shook Haruki's hand. "And with more good news: the higher ups have said I'm back. Your captain is back and I'm staying!" Hebikura shouted and everyone started cheering again: today was a great day for everyone.
"In the words of Z: today's been Ultra-amazing!" Haruki shouted and everyone started cheering. Yoko and Haruki looked at each other and without caring about anyone's opinion, Yoko pulled Haruki into a kiss and everyone was surprised. Quietly, the group left to get the party ready while Yoko and Haruki stayed in the workshop. After a few minutes had passed, Haruki and Yoko stopped then looked at each other.
"Shall we go and join the others?" Haruki suggested and Yoko nodded with a smile, she gave Haruki a quick kiss on the cheek then walked off to join up with the others. Haruki was on his own, he took out the Z Riser and was thinking about how his life had gone: he merged with Z, met his predecessors and now, he had the woman he liked as his girlfriend.
"You coming, Haruki?" Yoko called over, Haruki looked up at his girlfriend and nodded. He ran over and grabbed Yoko's hand then they walked off to join up with the others.
The couple decided to stay working at STORAGE and no romance during combat, only in the office and outside work. The pair were looking forward to what the future had in store for them and were thankful for their friends supporting the pair as they were starting a new chapter in their lives.
This is the end of this Haruki X Yoko fanfic. I might do more like this with others that we thought would make a good couple (like Asuka and Ryo from Dyna. And Daichi and Asuna from X).
