Chapter 2

As I walked to school I picked up my two best friends, and well I guess my only friends. Dylan well he's tall, had blond hair, buff from all the training he does to get out of the house away from his mom, light blue eyes, and a sly thief smile that could win over any girl's heart. Even though he could very easily overpower his abusive mother he never does I guess he feels bad for her when his father left her. Yes, both of our fathers left us. Even though he says he remembers a little bit of what his father looked like and how he acted we both became friends because of our "daddy issues." Now I truly don't believe that he really remembers what his father acted like or looked like I mean unless he was some big celebrity or some all-powerful god, but I'll never tell him that. I can't risk losing any more people that are close to me.

My other friend Liam well he's interesting. He's normal height, skinny, and fit, his eyes are crazy they look like a terrible storm when he's both angry and calm, but of course, they look like they're more powerful when he's angry, and his insanely dark black hair makes him look really scary. To be quite honest I don't know much about him. I mean I don't know the kid's age even, and I've been too scared to ask him. The only person he really seems to get along with is Dylan, but I mean everyone can get along with Dylan. Now that I think about it though I wouldn't want to be anywhere near Liam if Dylan hadn't befriended him.

"Yo, Mya!" Dylan shouted at me, "You were totally out of it. Did you hear anything I just said?"

"Umm no, I have a lot on my mind right now," I muttered back to him. He shot me a glance like he knew I was thinking about Liam, but he continued his rant about whatever he was talking about before he interrupted my train of thought.

Suddenly, a man stepped out from an alleyway right in front of us. He glanced at Liam and quickly bowed.

"My Lord," he barked.

During my state of shock, I was able to get a good look at him, and he was nowhere near close to being human. His face was… seal-like?! While his hands weren't hands instead they were replaced with flippers! I glanced around to see if anyone walking down the street could see what I could.

"What are you?" I asked out loud not even meaning to.

"What does it matter to you?" the seal man snarled at me, "If the boy weren't here you and your other half-blood friend would be dead."

I glanced at Liam and he looked completely calm, but when I glanced at Dylan his face was fully panicked. I was about ready to run away from the scene when Liam spoke up.

"Be gone like I have told you and the rest of your kind before," Liam spoke calmly and with a grin on his face as if he was used to seal men bowing to him in the middle of the sidewalk. Now I have lived in New York all of my life and I have seen some pretty weird things, but this was completely new to me.

"Yes, my Lord." and with that the seal man was gone. While Dylan and I stood completely in shock at the scene we had just witnessed Liam was a block and a half away, and he didn't stop to wait for us.
