("Trolls 2 Many Hits Mashup" - Anna Kendrick, Justin Timberlake, & James Corden)
Yo, I'll tell you what I want
What I really, really want
(So tell me what you want
What you really, really want)
I'll tell you what I want
What I really, really want
(So tell me what you want
What you really, really want)
I wanna... (Ha)
I wanna... (Ha)
I wanna... (Ha)
I wanna... (Ha)
I wanna really, really, really wanna zig-a-zig, ah
Poppy, Branch, and Biggie suddenly performed the pop medley that Meadow feared would occur, dancing like complete idiots in the process as an insult to injury. However, it was far worse than she or anybody else could've forseen. Why the trio decided that this was the best idea they could've come up with to recruit the Country Trolls she would never knew. The only thing she did know was that things would go downhill from the very first song.
Who?
Who?
Who-who?
Who let the dogs out?
Who?
Who?
Who-who?
Who let the dogs out?
Who?
Who?
Who-who?
Meadow cringed at the usage of that particular song in the medley. Ugh, that's too far. Then, the trio burst into a nearby bathroom stall to grab and hurl a trio of toilet paper rolls into the air. One missed Meadow and Pennywhistle by that much, one was caught by a clearly confused Trollzart, and one hit Delta squarely in the face...who wasn't fazed a little with the exception of a frown of disdain.
It's such a good vibration
(Yeah, come on, come on, come on)
It's such a sweet sensation
("Oppa Gangnam Style!")
("Gangnam Style!")
("O-O-O-O!")
("Oppa Gangnam Style!")
So far, the only ones invested in the problematic pop medley were Pennywhistle, Trollzart (surprisingly enough), a young Country Troll who attempted to mimic their dance moves, and a mysterious Country Troll standing nearby a bar's exterior pillar. He donned a large white hat, green denim dungarees, and black hoof-like shoes while chewing on wheat and chuckling in amusement.
Hey, pretty girl, what you doing tonight? ("Gangnam Style!")
I wanna see what you got in store ("O-O-O-O!")
("Oppa Gangnam Style!")
Meadow wanted to shrunk out of the light and back into the shadows, her confidence waning. Delta only stood there with her jaw hanging in disgust. Even the deceased Country Troll opened his coffin to stare at them in utter bewilderment.
Party rock is in the house tonight ("Come on!")
Everybody just have a good time ("Rave on, party on!")
Party rock is in the house tonight
We just wanna see ya ("Tell 'em, Poppy!")
Shake that...!
. . .
. . .
. . .
"You suck!" The same tumbleweed that chased away his preteen pursuers shouted as he flew passed the trio.
Delta's jaw went back into place as she shot a sheepish Meadow a narrowed glare.
"I'm sorry, you were saying?"
The same Country Troll with the big white hat watched as Poppy, Branch, and Biggie were subsequently lead into the town prison. He got close (but not too close), leaned against another pillar, and crossed his arms as he watched Delta chew out the three primary offenders.
"You know, you're extremely lucky that I've taken a liking to your fellow Pop Troll friend. You could've been executed, you know that?" Delta locked the cell door, "Now I want you three to sit in here and think about what you've just done."
"We're sorry, ma'am. We really are," Branch apologized, "This was my idea. I was the one who convinced Queen Poppy to use our Pop Music to recruit you in fighting Queen Barb of the Rock Trolls."
Poppy looked in Branch in shock as he willingly took the blame for something she did. It made her feel guilty, but Delta wasn't finished.
"Music? Music?! Let me tell you something, sir. That was not music. It was a crime against it. Worse still, you used your Pop Music to disturb the peace in my town in a misguided attempt to serve your benefits. Now, if you excuse me, I have to help my people wash what you call "music" out of my ears."
Still, Poppy's patience was wearing thin and desperate times meant desperate measures. She pushed the two boys out of the way and grabbed onto the bars, unintentionally sending Delta stumbling backward.
"Ma'am, please! What Branch said is only half true! It was my idea to perform the pop medley, but we only did it because we need your help! We're here to warn you about Queen Barb!"
Suddenly, one of Delta's deputies readied a lever-action rifle at Poppy's face, the sight of which made her blood run cold and her heart beat fast. Branch immediately shielded Poppy with his body as the Country Troll deputy continued aiming his firearm at the couple, much to the shock of Delta and the others.
"Just give me the word, boss," the Country Troll threatened to smirk.
"No," Delta shook her head, "Not here."
The Country Troll didn't seem to listen, so Delta bravely grabbed the barrel of the rifle and swung it so it aimed at her instead.
"Not here."
This managed to get through him, who groaned in disappointment as he was led away by Growly Pete and the other deputies. Delta pinched the bridge of her nose and turned back towards the cell, where Branch was holding a now softly sobbing Poppy.
"Sweetie?"
Poppy looked up from Branch's arms, wondering what Delta had to say.
"I already know about Barb and her world tour."
"You do?"
Delta sighed solemnly and continued, "Yes, and quite frankly, I'm not worried. If it's true what you say, and Barb is coming for us, then I will be prepared to defend Lonesome Flats with all I have. Now, the only reason I'm jailing you three is because you three committed a crime. I'm just doing my job and protecting my people, just as I will when Barb gets here."
Just as she turned to walk away, Delta glanced over her shoulder in remorse. "I appreciate your concern, Queen Poppy, but I don't leave my people or my town behind."
The Mayor/Sheriff turned away completely and walked to her shelter, pursued by Meadow, Trollzart, and Pennywhistle.
"Mayor or Sheriff..." Meadow was the first to snap out of her shock, "What...what happened back there?"
"I don't know..."
"Why did that Country Troll almost kill Queen Poppy?" Pennywhistle popped her head from Meadow's hair.
"I don't know..."
"And why did that Country Troll even consider that terrible option in the first place?"
"I said, I don't know!" Delta snapped, sending the trio stumbling backward the same way she did as Poppy unintentionally frightened her. Realizing her mistake, she softened her expression and sighed, "I'm sorry. I wish I had all the answers, but I don't. I don't know why that deputy tried to shoot Queen Poppy, but I'll find out. In the meantime..."
Delta then headed into a nearby store and emerged a few moments with a set of clothes tailor made for the Country Trolls but modified to suit visitors.
"Say, wallflower, your name is Meadow, right?"
"That's right. Meadow Spriggs."
"All right, Miss Spriggs. Take these," Delta handed Meadow the clothes, which she gave a good look at before turning back to the Mayor/Sheriff for an explanation.
Delta herself merely stated, "You're gonna be here for a while."
It was around the evening that things were taking a turn.
Donning a purple-and-white flannel shirt, denim jeans, and a fur felt Stetson hat, Meadow was helping Delta and Growly Pete perserve the peace, all the while worrying about her friends. Two thoughts had plagued her head in that time. The first thought was what would happen to Poppy's gang if they didn't make out in time. The second thought was concerning Delta, whom she saw as a...complicated figure, to say the least. On one hand, she was clearly a sympathetic authority figure and a good leader to her people, going as far to staying behind to fight off any attackers to give them a chance to survive. On the other hand, that stubborn demeanor of hers was going to get her killed.
Meadow's train of thought was derailed by the sight of a peculiar-looking Country Troll approaching the jail. He donned a large white hat, green denim dungarees, black hoof-like shoes, and a thick lasso with a hook at the end. Her suspicions raised but not confirmed, she left her post to investigate, armed with nothing but her fists and the shovel she was given to help plant their crops. As much as anything plant-related was her life, her friends were far more important.
"Hey!" Meadow harshly whispered to get the Country Troll's attention. When it was, he put his index finger up to his lips to get her to be quiet.
"What are you doing?"
"What are you doing?"
"I asked you first."
"All right, all right," the Country Troll raised his hands in surrender, "Listen to me. The name's Hickory, and I'm here to break your friends out."
"What?" Meadow backpedaled in surprise, "Why? What's in it for you?"
"I heard and saw what happened back there in the afternoon," the Country Troll named Hickory sighed heavily, "The detainee and the jailer both held some valid points, but we can all agree that the deputy who aimed his weapon at Queen Poppy took it one step far."
"Do you who he is?"
"Yeah, and you ain't gonna like it. Do you know what a Party Crasher is, Miss Meadow?"
Meadow's eyes widened in horror before they narrowed in resentment.
"I do."
Meanwhile, in her office, Delta was being held at gunpoint by the same deputy.
"Sorry, Miss Delta...but sometimes you have to do what you gotta do."
CLICK!
The smirk on the deputy's face faded as his rifle failed to work. Delta wore a smirk of her own.
"Maybe sometimes you need to check if your gun is loaded."
With the deputy's cover exposed and him getting distracting by his misfiring firearm, Delta immediately went for his rifle, grabbing it by the barrel and making sure it aimed away from her face this time. The both of them struggled for control of the weapon, with the deputy throwing hits straight into her face. Delta was once more unfazed and threw punches of her own, only ten times harder. Throwing him against a nearby bookcase, the Mayor/Sheriff managed to get the rifle to properly function and fire two shots into his chest.
BANG! BANG!
The gunshots echoed throughout the town's radius, catching the attention of Poppy, Branch, Biggie, Meadow, Hickory, Growly Pete, Pennywhistle, and Trollzart. Meadow, Hickory, and Growly Pete went in Delta's office first and found the Mayor/Sheriff holding the rifle on the deceased deputy traitor. Hickory walked over and leaned down to pull off the mask off, confirming his earlier statement and Meadow's own suspicions.
"What in the Sam Hill..."
"A Party Crasher," Meadow muttered with utter disdain.
"Mayor/Sheriff Delta..." Hickory slowly stood up and turned to face her, "I believe we are about to be under attack."
"Well, dangity-doodly," Delta cursed before reloading the rifle and handing it to Hickory, "Growly Pete, round up the deputies."
Growly Pete growled in agreement and complied with his leader's orders. All of the deputies filed in and retrieved shotguns and lever-action rifles from their hidden arsenal, loading them with ammunition in preparation for an inevitable shootout. Delta had a feeling that these Rock Trolls were more technologically advanced than they were, but that didn't mean they shouldn't take a fighting chance.
"Miss Meadow," Delta handed Meadow a shotgun, "do you know how to shoot?"
"Of course not! I'm a pacifist!"
"Well, you're gonna get a crash course! You load the shells into the magazine then pump the fore-end to load and fire. You then pump the fore-end again to eject the empty shells. Got it?
"Sure. Perfectly not confusing."
"Right then. Hickory!"
Delta looked around for the Country Troll in question but he was long gone.
"Now, where did that dang boy head off to...?"
