"HOW ARE WE GETTING OUT OF THIS ONE, BB-8?"

Eight First Order fighter jets were directly in front of Poe Dameron with their blasters aimed at him, while a band of rogue marauders were behind him with their canons pointed as well. To say that he was between a rock and a hard place would be an understatement.

His engine managed to get shot by one of the pirates causing a bunch of lights to flicker red. He was too far out to receive any assistance from allies. And he could barely make out what the command center was trying to relay to him on his comms.

While Poe Dameron may be considered the greatest pilot in the resistance, he knew that there was no way he could fly his way out of this. So, for the first time in his life, Poe considered defeat. BB-8 made it painfully aware that their only only hope would be to surrender to the raiders and pray that they take mercy upon them.

But Poe had other ideas.

They just went through hell and back to get a top secret package from the middle of nowhere before the standoff even occurred. Making it even more clear that whatever was in the wooden box cloaked in a dead nun's ripped fabric, it was worth dying and killing for.

Poe could crash land on the nearest planet. Even though his senors were too messed to even clarify if it was possible to even enter that atmosphere, much less confirm if there were living species down there.

All he knew was that he would much rather take the risk of dying in an unmarked grave in that desolate planet with the package than let the First Order and raiders kill him and take it.

Knowing what he had to do, Poe took a good deep breath. He did good in life, considering everything that was given to him. He had great parents. Sure, his best friend was a droid, but it was one hell of a droid. And he fell in love a couple of times. Yet, the thing he was most proud of was that he would die fighting for a cause he believed in. And that meant more than anything.

"It's been an honor serving you, General."

Those were the last words General Organa heard before Poe Dameron closed his eyes and plunged his broken spaceship toward the unknown planet.
