Hi, just want to say thank you to everyone who has been leaving me reviews, I love reading them to find out if people are enjoying the story or not. Here's the next chapter! :)
After finding Kyle on the side of the road the day before, Brax had managed to get him home and give the police some information about Lillie that could help them. He hadn't slept at all that night, and was straight back out searching the next morning, reluctantly letting Heath go with him. Brax was at home with Ricky, even though she didn't know the whole truth about what happened, waiting on some news when there was a knock at the door.
"Alf, hi." Brax says as he opens the door.
"I'm sorry to hear about young Kyle's daughter, is he in?" Alf asks.
"No, he went out searching about an hour ago. Is there anything I could help with?" Brax asks.
"I'm setting up some teams to help the police with the search and was wondering if there was anything specific that could help us, such as what Lillie was wearing or visible birthmarks." Alf says.
"That's great! We think she was wearing a pale pink baby grow with elephants on it and she's got a fair sized birthmark on her right shoulder." Brax says.
"Thanks Brax. I'll call if we find anything." Alf says.
"Thanks." Brax smiles as Alf leaves to finish sorting his searches.
"Are you going to finish telling me the truth now?" Ricky asks as she walks into the house. "I know you're keeping the serious part from me, and I want to know it now." She firmly says, folding her arms as she stares at him.
"Rick, you need to focus on getting through the last few weeks of this pregnancy. You can't get too stressed out." Brax says.
"Where is Lillie?" Ricky asks.
"We don't know." Brax sighs, rubbing the side of his face. "She was taken from Marilyn's yesterday and the police haven't found any prints to go on. They've put searches out and Alf has just come to say he's putting some out too."
"So she's missing?" Ricky exclaims, covering her mouth in shock as Brax nods. "Brax, you should have told me! How is Kyle coping?"
"Not well. I haven't seen him eat or drink anything, and I doubt he got any sleep last night. He was up at sunrise to go out looking and after some convincing, Heath went with him."
"Why would someone take a baby?" Ricky mutters, taking a hand through her hair.
"We don't know. But leave it to us, Rick. The doctor said you can't get stressed this close to labour." Brax says.
"Brax, Kyle's daughter is missing. What else am I meant to do?" Ricky says.
"This is why I didn't want you to know yet!" Brax sighs. "We're sorting it, okay? You don't need to worry." He says as Bianca walks in.
"Hey." She lightly smiles, glancing at Ricky.
"I know about Lillie." Ricky says.
"Right… Well I've just been over at Marilyn's to find out more, and there's nothing. The police are now focusing on the search as they couldn't find anything in her living room or on the pram. They're still using the pram and travel bag to see if they can use something to get Lillie's DNA to help with the search." Bianca explains. "She really doesn't know how it's happened and wasn't sure if she should talk to Kyle, but he's been avoiding it according to Heath."
"What else has Heath said?" Brax asks.
"That he can't get Kyle to take a break or have something to eat." Bianca says. "They've gone all along Old Creek road and through every town they could think of that hasn't already been checked."
"I get that Kyle wants to find Lillie, but he needs to look after himself. He isn't going to be any help if he collapses from exhaustion or-"
"We'll help him, Brax. He's always got us to help him." Ricky interrupts.
"It's going to take a lot to get through to him. Especially at the minute." Brax mutters, wishing he knew what to do.
"Kyle, why don't we head home so you can get something to eat and drink?" Heath suggests.
"No, I need to keep looking. She's going to be somewhere around here." Kyle mutters, staring out of the window.
"You haven't had something all day. A break will do you some good." Heath says, briefly glancing over at Kyle before focusing back on the road.
"It won't. Just keep driving to the next town. We haven't looked there yet." Kyle says.
"Kyle-"
"Just do it." Kyle hisses.
"Okay." Heath sighs.
Heath drives along the road until they come to the next left turning into the town. He drives down the road until they reach the town, then pulls up on the side of the road for them to search. Kyle get's out of the car without a word said and starts looking around the town, Heath quickly following him.
They walked all around the town without seeing any sign of Kyle's daughter, or anyone looking suspicious, so headed back to the car in defeat. Heath knew this was getting to Kyle and wasn't sure how to get through to him. If this happened to him he wouldn't be able to cope, so couldn't begin to imagine what it was putting his brother through.
"Kyle, I really think we should take a break now. We've checked every town on this side of Old Creek, and there's nothing." Heath says as they get into the car.
"There's a couple more we could check on the way back to Summer Bay." Kyle says, looking back out of the side window.
"Rick, how about we go for a walk?" Bianca suggests.
"Yeah, it would be good for you to get some fresh air." Brax says.
"I can't. What if Kyle comes back, or Lillie's found?" Ricky says.
"Then I'll call you." Brax says.
"Fine." Ricky sighs.
"Come on, we'll talk about baby things that the boys don't like." Bianca lightly smirks as they walk out as Brax pulls out his phone to call someone.
Brax - Hey, Case. Sorry, did I wake you up?
Casey - Yeah, you've never been good at working out the time zones. What's up?
B - I would be if you didn't keep moving around every few weeks. But I thought I'd call cause something's happened.
C - What's happened?
B - Marilyn was babysitting for Kyle yesterday, when someone broke in and took Lillie from the pram. But you don't need to worry because we've got it under control here.
C - What? How did someone take her without Marilyn knowing?
B - We don't know. She said she had gone to get a spare baby grow from her dryer and Lillie was gone when she went back. The police have got officers out looking, and Alf sent some teams out this morning as well.
C - Have they got anything to go on?
B - No, they couldn't find any prints in her living room or on the doors, and the pram was also clean. But something will come up, it's got to.
C - How's Kyle coping?
B - Not well. He's been out looking since he found out. We managed to get him to take Heath with him in the hopes that he'd eat something or get some rest, but so far it's not gone to plan.
C - We'll get the next flight out.
B - No, Case, you don't have to do that. We've got it covered here until you're due to come back.
C - Brax, Kyle needs us. And we were meant to be home ages ago anyway, so it's not like we're changing much. And I always promised we'd do Italy with Kyle, but then he had Lillie, so couldn't join us. We can save it for another time. And don't try arguing about it cause I'm coming home.
B - Okay Case, I won't try and change your mind. Maybe it would be good for Kyle to have someone else around. I'm sure Heath's pestering him about eating and resting, and Rick's too close to giving birth now.
C - If Lillie isn't found soon, what happens then?
B - I don't know. We need to stay positive for Kyle's sake. Anyway, let me know your flight details and I'll pick you up from the airport.
C - Okay, see you soon.
Once they had hung up, Brax checks his phone for any missed calls or texts, and saw none. He hoped something came up soon, or he wouldn't know what would happen. Kyle needed them, but he needed Lillie more. She had been his life for the last 5, nearly 6 months, she had to be found soon.
