IZZY'S POV

I drop the final box with a thud. I finally have everything inside. Now to unpack.

"Bells?" Dad hollers up the stairs. I sigh and trudge down the stairs.

"It's Izzy, Dad." I smile slightly./p

"I know but you'll always be Bells to me," He says looking down.

"Dad, I can't stand to be called that anymore. Please don't." Wetness gathers in my eyes.

"I called you down to ask if you have plans tonight?" I know he wants me to make friends.

"I do. I have to unpack." I smile up at him.

"Let me know if you do end up heading out. I've left some money for you by the fridge." Dad chuckles.

"I probably won't. I have so much to do. Besides I sold all the clothes Alice forced on me. I'm good on money for a while. I'm just glad I finished painting and got everything inside." I stretch.

"Iz, I'm glad we took the long way. We're already communicating better."

"I am, too. I should get back to work if I want to get to bed anytime soon."

"Alright, alright." He backs away with his hands raised in surrender. I roll my eyes but chuckle.

"Dad? Could we go to the mall tomorrow? Make a day out of it?" I ask awkwardly.

"Of course, hun. Just let me know when. I'm gonna head to bed."

"Night, Dad," I call after his retreating figure.

By the time I finish unpacking, I am exhausted. For some reason my eyes are drawn to my window. I squint and can make out the figure of a large bird. I open the window and shoo it away.

"Weird ass bird." I sigh as I close the window.

The next morning...

I dress quickly pulling on leggings, a sports bra, and a huge hoody. I chuckle noticing it's all in black. I pull back my hair before heading downstairs.

"Waffles are in the toaster, the juice is on the table," Dad says leaning in front of the coffee maker.

"Morning, Dad. You ready for this?" I grin. I can't think of any time I've been this excited to go shopping.

"Ready to spend time with you? Yes. Shopping. Eh." He shrugs, his mustache twitching. I can tell he's fighting a smile. He's just as excited as I am. I grin, grabbing a waffle as it pops up. I slather it in Nutella, practically bouncing in place.

Dad just shakes his head as he grabs his waffle. He eats it all in three bites before chugging the rest of his coffee./p

"Drink your juice so we can go." He chuckles. I chug it as quick as I can and grab my phone.

"Race you to the car!" I shout and hightail it out of the house. Right as I reach the driver's side door, the car locks. Damn it./p

"I may not be faster than you, but I am smarter." He grins. I huff and roll my eyes but move over to the passenger side door. He unlocks the car and we both get in.

"Okay, so salon first. I need my hair cut and colored. Come to think of it you need a haircut, too." I look over his curls and mustache.

"Eh, I suppose I do." He runs his hand through his hair. I can't help but chuckle as I pull out my phone and start reading. It's not like I have anyone to talk to anyway.

"Dad drives us to the next town over to go shopping. I honestly couldn't tell you where we are since I fell asleep.

When we finally arrive at the salon Dad and I are separated by stylists.

"Hi there, hun. My name is Kayl. I'll be your stylist today. Do you have anything in mind or would you like to see a book?" A rather tall man asks radiating friendliness.

"I want it thinned and lots of layers. I also want to dye it black." I say shyly. Grow up, Iz. He doesn't know the old you.

"You're sure? Your hair is a virgin. There is no going back." He gives me a concerned look in the mirror.

"I've had it black before. It's been years but yes, I'm sure." I flash him a smirk. He shakes his head but starts cutting.

An hour later I am finally allowed to look in the mirror. What I see shocks me for a moment. My hair is no longer just a curtain to hide behind. It cascades down past my shoulders. The layering is exquisite. And the black just makes me look paler.

"I love it!" I squeal.

"Well, that's good. Don't we have some shopping to do though?" I smile up at Dad in the mirror before faltering. His mustache is gone.

"You look so much younger, Dad." I giggle. He just waves me off as a blush settles on his cheeks.

"Are we gonna go or not?" He pretends to look at his watch.

"I'm coming, I'm coming," I mutter rising from the chair. As I went to pay, the little receptionist waved me off and pointed to my dad. I shook my head but followed him out to the car.

"You didn't have to do that, ya know? I have the money I made selling all of the shit Alice bought me." I stare out the window.

"I wanted to. Besides while you were getting finished up, I looked up some shops for you. There's only a few in the mall so I figured we could stop there, do some shopping, and get lunch." He grins and I can't help but smile back.

"I am never doing that again." Dad plops down on the couch. I can't help but do the same.

"I agree. Who knew shopping so tiring."

"It's now late evening and we just got home from shopping. I got a whole new wardrobe and a ton of makeup though. Who knew all those designer labels Alice bought me would come in handy?

I got up and stretched.

"You heading to bed?"

"Yupp. I'll put away all that shit tomorrow. I'm beat." I smile lazily.

"Sure, sure. Tomorrow you're making breakfast." He calls after me as I climb the stairs. Ugh.

I change into simple black satin pajamas before falling into bed. As darkness claims me, I swear I see that crow staring at me from my window.
