It's been a very long time since I started writing this, but I had some inspiration! I've edited this initial chapter and also have a few more chapters planned. Please note this story will have dubious consent and some lewd content.
Chapter 1: Honesty
Yui tried to quell the fluttering sensation her stomach as she eyed her surroundings. She no longer knew if her shaking was attributed to her fear of the Sakamaki brothers, or the effects of their blood consumption. She'd only been living with the household for a few days, but already she was on the verge of exhaustion. Her mind replayed the icy bite of fangs piercing her flesh, combined with the metallic scent of blood.
The vampires were adamant to torment her. Right from the start, the brothers were quick to snatch her up her time whenever they could. Yui had thought the attention was flattering, but it became apparent they were only after her blood. She'd come to realise that refusing or hiding offered as much protection as tissue paper did against thorns. They were so keen to push her to her limits to get what they wanted, and it was slowly breaking her both mentally and physically.
Yui gritted her teeth. She shook away the unpleasant pang of futility and walked unsteadily down the corridor. She was clinging onto one last thread of hope.
"Why are you standing outside my room?" came a low voice.
She squealed and spun around. In her uneasy state, any small thing sent her heart into a frenzy.
Reiji walked up to her, "Did you not hear me? I asked you a question." His voice embodied an impatient tone, and his expression failed to hide his distaste.
"Reiji... I-I just..."
"Good grief, it would make things a great deal easier if you speak up. I was in the middle of titrating the essence of herbanacium etarancus, only for you to ruin my concentration."
"I-I'm sorry for disturbing you... I'll leave now..."
Reiji turned as if to go back into his room, but he paused, hand hovering over the doorknob.
"You know what, human?" He turned back and shot her a piercing glare, "As compensation for disturbing my work, the righteous thing would be to offer to help me out."
Yui scrunched her eyes shut and braced herself for the impact of fangs against her neck. Nothing happened. Reiji sighed. "What a pathetic girl, that's what you expect from me? If that's what you wanted, you should just go visit any of my brothers instead. Your reaction is most disgusting."
"I'm sorry..." Yui said in a quiet voice. It frustrated her, but after only a short time living with him, she realised objecting to his belittling insults was wasted energy. She took a deep breath and looked up at him, "How can I help you?"
Instead of answering, Reiji led her into his room and made his way to his desk. He picked up one of the glass flasks amidst a vast array of vials and test tubes, inspecting it with profound intensity. Yui gawked at his outlandishly complicated set up.
"Sit there," he ordered, pointing to his couch. Yui obliged. Strangely, she felt grateful towards him for not taking her blood forcefully, like she'd been conditioned to expect.
Reiji looked deep in thought. His eyes didn't stray from the glass vial he was swivelling over a gentle candle flame.
"You should be grateful a gentleman like me has the courtesy to aid those in need. I've a feeling you... desperately need some help..." He turned toward her, his eyes concealed by the light reflecting off his glasses. Reiji smirked. "Well? You can't possibly believe I'm oblivious to the heinous activities my brothers are engaging in with you under this roof..."
Yui choked. "What...?"
"You really can't keep your voice down when you're with them, can you? Day in day out, all I hear is your moaning, such a nuisance." He narrowed his eyes at her, knowing full well the dim lighting amplified his ominous expression.
Yui gulped and dropped her head, terrified.
"So, I have a proposal. If you complete a simple task for me, I'll forbid my brothers from so much as touching you…" The corners of the man's mouth twitched, but he suppressed a grin, "And you may leave the household if you wish afterwards. My proposal is simple, all you have to do is take two of my drugs. Each one only has temporary effects that last a few hours, what do you say?"
Yui thought it sounded too good to be true. There had to be some sort of catch. Those drugs had to be really dangerous...
Reiji nonchalantly shook the effervescing liquid and effortlessly predicted Yui's train of thoughts. "I have no interest in poisoning you or permanently harming you. After all, my orders were to keep you alive. Let me reassure you, when I administered my drugs to various rodents, they were just fine… canines reacted remarkably well to them too!"
Yui didn't want to think about how Reiji managed to involve those poor creatures. Maybe in his eyes, she was just another animal to toy with. But Yui was out of other options. Undoubtedly, Reiji's proposal would offer her some relief from her current predicament. To get away from her horrific torment and accompanying helplessness, Reiji's drugs were probably heaven in comparison.
"Okay. I'll do it." Her words came out a lot more confident than she felt.
"Wonderful, I appreciate your cooperation. But remember, human, refuse a potion and I will no longer grant you protection or freedom."
Yui nodded. Reiji removed his concoction from the flame and set it aside to cool. He swiftly moved to open a cabinet, and drew out an intricately decorated tea set. Yui watched in awe as he began brewing tea in a manner that perhaps reflected years if not decades of finesse. The fragrant aroma soon filled the room.
He set a cup on the coffee table in front of Yui, then sat down across from her, blowing on his cup to cool down the contents. "As someone in a position of responsibility, I feel obliged to check in on how you are faring. My brothers can be... difficult to deal with, but I hope you are somewhat settling in to life in this house."
Yui was so surprised by his concern that she gawked at him for a few long seconds. The same Reiji who in the past few days basically ignored her existence, only referred to her as 'the human' and barely spoke a word to her apart from his initial introduction, was now concerned about her.
He tilted his head and looked at Yui over his glasses, "Well? Have you not the decency to respond?"
"Oh, thank you for worrying about me!" Being the unassuming girl she was, she quickly welcomed Reiji's new found friendliness. The stress and tension had worn her thin and now, Reiji was sitting having tea with her, asking her how she was. Yui had been so alone, with nobody to listen to her worries or even talk to on an equal level. The normalcy of this small interaction hit her, and she felt suddenly like she wanted to cry. "I... really am grateful..." she said smiling with tears prickling at the corners of her eyes. "It's been a long time since I've sat down to have tea with anyone."
"Strange girl, crying over tea. Words can't describe how foolish you look right now!" Reiji sipped his tea indignantly. Yui picked up her teacup and brought it to her lips. The light floral scent was soothing. She felt like it warmed not only her body, but her heart too.
"Chamomile," Reiji said.
"What?"
"The tea. Chamomile is renowned for its sleep-inducing properties, being a natural sedative, it also relieves symptoms of anxiety. The flowers were grown in the garden, I dried them out and prepared them myself."
"Oh wow, you're so considerate Reiji, it's delicious."
Reiji chuckled, "Naive girl. You're forgetting where you are. You can't possibly believe I'm treating you like this with pure intentions..."
"Well, I try to see the good in people, and I have faith in you," Yui replied with new found resolve. Although his brothers had no qualms messing with her, Reiji had stayed above it.
Reiji nodded, "Right, we both stand to benefit more thinking this way. Trust is important."
Yui finished her tea and set it down on the table. Reiji had tipped the contents of the vial he'd been heating into a small glass. She looked at him quizzically as he handed the glass to her. It was filled with a murky green liquid and still warm. "I've been working on this," he said, "Drink it."
"But... what is it?"
Reiji raised his eyebrow. "The entire point is to assess the effects of my new drug. If I were to tell you that, your preconceptions would cause biased results."
Though it was apparent he was knowledgeable and confident about his pursuits, his words did little to alleviate her unease. Yui held the liquid at arms length, hesitant to bring it any closer. Reiji crossed his arms and glowered at her as if threatening to terminate their agreement outright. She gulped and hastily downed the liquid. It was sour and pungent, the taste overstaying its welcome, lingering on her tongue.
Reiji gestured at the tea set on the table. "What was in that tea cup a few minutes ago?"
"Chamomile tea," Yui was confused by the random question.
"Good, now I will ask you again but please answer with something other than Chamomile tea. What was in that cup?"
"Chamomile tea," Yui said. "I mean… Chamomile tea…" she gasped and covered her mouth with her hand.
"I see, so it's like that," Reiji muttered and jotted something in his leather bound notebook. "This time you must abstain from answering. What was in that cup?"
The girl felt a strange nausea building up in her chest. The words blurted out uncontrollably, "…Chamomile tea."
Reiji grinned, "Brilliant. Yui, aren't you an honest girl?"
"Honest? Yes, I was brought up to try my best to be…" she said, wondering why she even answered seriously to his mockery.
"Tell me," he said, narrowing his eyes, "Are you still a virgin?"
"...Y-yes…" she divulged, cheeks burning. She felt so exposed, unable to stop herself from outing even the most private things.
Reiji scoffed and muttered something under his breath. "Well, well… just as expected. From my observations, I have a feeling you get a thrill out of being toyed with, is that so?"
"Yes that's right…" She said, trailing off as she heard herself speak. They weren't the words she intended to say. Had she lost every ounce of self-respect?
"Wait, what I meant to say was, I actually kind of like it…" Yui closed her eyes and wished she could sink right through the ground. When she dared to open her eyes, Reiji wasn't staring at her judgmentally, but engrossed in his notes. Much to her horror, she realised he must be recording her every word. She had never felt so self-conscious.
Yui tried to deny it again but the words caught in her throat and she ended up making a spluttering noise.
"Well, that's enough. I've adequate understanding of the effects now to conclude this a success. You may leave."
"What? Are you sure... that's all?"
If he had picked up on the tinge of dismay in her voice, he didn't react to it. The interrogation had been oddly exhilarating.
"Be back here in an hour for the next drug, the effects of this one should wear off by then."
Yui thanked him (although she wasn't sure what for) and excused herself. She glanced nervously down the dark corridor. She prayed she'd get through the next hour without any encounters with the other vampires. Cautiously, she paced down the corridor, freezing at every stir like a criminal, until she finally slipped into her room.
It wasn't long before she heard footsteps. Vampires didn't need to walk, they could be at their desired destination at the blink of an eye. She figured it was solely to taunt her. And it was working. Yui leapt up from her bed and threw herself into the wardrobe, just as the door swung open. She willed her heart to quieten its hammering.
"Oh, Bitch-chan~! Where are you hiding?" Laito's drawl was met with silence. Laito thoroughly took delight in paying her visits in the middle of the night and sliding into bed with her. Her body grew hot at just the sound of his voice.
"Hiding is pointless... I can smell your sweet, sweet scent," he drawled, voice thick with longing.
BANG. The wooden panels of the wardrobe reverberated from the impact. The hairs on the back of Yui's neck stood up.
"Found you!" Laito sang. Light leaked into her hiding spot, revealing Laito's smirking face. He grabbed her shoulders to prevent her cowering further behind the clothes.
"I'm tired of hide and seek, let's play another game. Hmmm... let's see.. how about Truth or dare?"
"No! I don't want to!"
"Oh? Could it be that you want me to drink your blood and have some real fun together right now?"
"W-wait! Please don't do that... I'll play then."
Laito laughed and pushed her against the back of the wardrobe. "Since you're so reluctant, I'll go first, I pick truth." He grinned, revealing a fang. Yui sensed Laito knew something more than he was letting on.
"What... what were you doing before you came here?" She asked in a small voice.
"Ahh, I was fantasising about how cute Bitch-chan's moans are, nfufu. But then I couldn't help but overhear you having a very interesting conversation with Reiji."
Yui's heart sank.
"Now, truth or dare, Bitch-chan?"
"..."
Laito pouted and impatiently shook her, "Aww don't be such a spoil sport, answer me!" When Yui still didn't reply, he pushed her harder against the wardrobe.
"...D-dare."
He smirked at her. "I dare you to pick truth next time."
Yui blinked. "W-what? You can't do that-"
"Yes I can. Bitch-chan, ask the question!"
She wanted nothing more than for this game to end but was even more terrified about the consequences of refusing. Reluctantly, she obliged. "Truth or dare?"
"Dare."
"I… dare you to leave my room for the next two hours." She held her breath, waiting for his reaction.
"Oh no can do, I'll have to pass on that one."
Her face fell.
"Aww, little bitch is getting upset, you really had your hopes up!" His knee shifted up between her thighs. "So, do you hate me, Bitch-chan?" He asked before she could push him away.
Yui tried to keep her mouth shut, but the urge to speak overpowered her silence. "Yes, I hate you! You force me to do horrible things and hurt me without batting an eyelid!" Under normal circumstances, Yui lacked the guts to yell something like this directly at her tormentor's face, but in this moment she couldn't hold back.
"Aaah, Bitch-chan..."
He traced his lips across her collar bone. "...The more you hate me, the more I... want you..." Laito's manic laughter muffled against her skin, sent vibrations to her core. He savoured the whimpers he evoked from the girl.
"Tell me, what do you want me to do?" He whispered in her ear.
"Kiss me," Yui said, and despised herself for it. She didn't want to admit it, but despite hating him, her body was pining for more of his touch.
"Bitch-chan, so you wanted me all along! It seems you're just as thirsty for something..." Laito taunted.
He flicked his tongue against the corner of her mouth and bit down on her bottom lip, drawing blood. Yui flinched and tried to turn her head, but the vampire entwined his fingers in her hair to pull her back, making her eyes water. Laito slipped his tongue into her mouth. Yui's head began to feel light as he forcefully kissed her.
Laito's fingers lingered on her leg and then ventured upward, gliding under her skirt. Yui scrambled to push his hand away from her inner thigh.
"Oh? But we're enjoying ourselves so much. You really want to stop now?"
"No, I want more..." Her words were completely contrary to her actions. Reiji's drug was making this situation a complete mess. She was desperately trying to push Laito away yet at the same time, begging for more. The mismatch between her words and actions delighted Laito.
"Aaaah... seeing you struggle really turns me on... if only you could see your own face right now. Nfufufu... I know, since you're so eager today, how about you tell me... your fantasies?"
Yui choked. This was a nightmare. She tried hard to resist by keeping her mouth shut but it was impossible to hold back. A few moments later, she'd spilled everything, and Laito was grinning even wider.
"Thank you for being so, so honest, Bitch-chan! Who would have thought such an innocent looking girl could say such lewd things…" Laito said gleefully.
He picked her up and next thing she knew, Yui was sprawled on her bed. Laito was straddling her hips leaving only enough leeway for her to clumsily squirm around. Her movements only seemed to invigorate him more. "Shall we really invite Kanato and Ayato to join in on the fun now?"
Yui clamped both hands over her mouth, "Mmmn."
His hair brushed against her cheek as he whispered in her ear. "It seems like such a waste to share…"
The vampire drew his slender fingers up her leg and hooked them under the sides of her underwear, giving it a teasing tug. "I'll let you keep this on for now…" he chuckled. Yui squeaked.
He grabbed her leg and yanked it up to expose the pale skin of her inner thigh, trailing his tongue up her soft flesh. She shut her eyes, anticipating a bite.
Suddenly, Laito's weight lifted.
"Ah, Reiji..." Laito said dryly, directing his voice behind her.
Yui opened her eyes. A dark haired figure at the door was scowling at them.
"Laito," Reiji spat the name out with disgust, "To think you would engage in such indecent behaviour with the door wide open."
"I like to think of it as an invitation for you to join in, not that you'd really do so..."
"I require Yui for some important business, so Laito you must take your leave." Reiji ordered.
Laito pouted, "Well now, you've completely ruined the mood!" Before he got up, he whispered in Yui's ear, "It's such a pity we couldn't finish this time, Bitch-chan..."
Back in Reiji's study, Yui was immensely grateful for being rescued.
"You didn't come back," He said. "I assumed you'd forgotten but it turns out it was more a case of... being physically unable to do so. Now, there's extra data to be collected, so tell me all the events that occurred." He picked up his notebook. Much to her dismay, Yui found herself recounting the events in profound detail.
Reiji didn't react when she admitted her answers to Laito's perverted questions. He kept writing without a pause. When she was finished, he placed his pen down on his desk and walked over to her side.
"You may have realised this by now, but the drug I gave you was a modified truth serum," Reiji explained, "It seems to be much more potent than expected, able to coerce its user to truthfully answer questions even when they attempt to hold their silence."
Yui nodded and he continued.
"The drug will wear off soon... but aren't you concerned by being here? Has it not crossed your mind, I could be just as dangerous as Laito?"
"Oh, I'm not worried!" Yui wondered if she'd offended him, "I can't imagine you doing anything like that… I mean, you have a dependable air to you, so I trust you!"
"Oh really?"
There was an awkward silence as they stared at each other. Yui was the first to look away. Reiji cleared his throat and picked his words carefully with a smile.
"Well, you can rest assured, there is no way I will act with rashness comparable to that lust driven lunatic."
Reiji handed her a small vial of liquid, gleaming a deep purple colour and motioned for her to drink it. Yui did as he instructed. A gentle, flowery taste lingered on her tongue. She would have thought it was just herbal tea if not for the colour.
"Reiji, I've taken two of your drugs. Now you'll uphold your half of our agreement like you promised?"
"Not so fast, we haven't observed the effects of this drug yet. But of course, I am a man of my word and I will honour our agreement," Reiji said as he strolled over to the door and held it open for her. "For now you may go, the effects of this one may take some time to manifest."
Yui beamed. "Thank you, I'm so glad I can depend on-"
"Oh but Yui, let me correct you, you haven't taken two drugs. You've taken eleven."
She froze.
"I trust you'll be back very soon," Reiji flashed her a smile. She caught an unsettling glimpse of his protruding canines before the door closed.
Then it hit her. Something was very, very wrong.
