A Quiet Yuletide evening.

A Witcher fan fiction

The Winters breeze in Beauclair did not chill Geralt's bones like it once did in the mountains of Kaer Morhen, and strangely the longer he stayed in Beauclair the more he misses those chills. Geralt had just arrived back to Corvo Bianco after yet another Slyzard contract and was unsaddling Roach when suddenly the stable door swung open. Cirilla, Geralt's adoptive daughter, ran in jumping into his arms as if she thought him to have perished. "Now doesn't this remind me of when you were just a girl, always so scared I would not return from a drowner contract" Geralt said while chuckling softly, kissing her head. "It has been over a fortnight; it never takes you that long to slay a Slyzard Geralt. Yennefer and I began to worry once Dandelion arrived, saying you failed to meet him at the Cockatrice Inn! Where have you been!?". Geralt smiled that same old smile he had when it came to Cirilla. "The Slyzard seemed to had left its original nest, so I had to track it down again" Geralt tucked a loose strand of Ciri's hair behind her ear, "Lets go inside, I have some early Yuletide presents for you all.".

The moment they entered the manor the parcels in Geralt's arms were knocked to the floor, being replaced with the warmth of Yennefer, after many years together he could tell she has just been weeping. Geralt lifted her head, so he could look into those violet eyes that he longed for. "Yennefer, please don't be upset. I'm home now, and the gold from this contract will last us till Birke. I won't be leaving for many a fortnight my love.". She chuckled, grabbing his face, kissing him with passion. "Even though that is very reassuring darling, you are mistaken, I am crying tears of joy, not of sadness." She smiled at him "Now before I vomit from the stench of Slyzard blood, please for the love of Melitele go bath!". Geralt chuckled "As you wish", kissing Yennefer's hand sarcastically before he headed to the bath.

Once he was clean and smelling of cloves, he donned a linen shirt and hunting trousers, never forgetting his Wolf medallion. As he opened the bed chamber door the smell of Garlic crusted roast entered the room, causing Geralt's mouth to begin watering. He smiled to himself, since Marlene came to be in his service, he has struggled to keep any extra weight off. As he entered the main hall of Corvo Bianco he noticed Dandelion talking to Cirilla over one of Geralt's Van Rogh paintings. However, he could not see Yennefer anywhere. "Ciri" Geralt called over "Have you seen Yennefer since I went to the bath?" "No" Ciri replied "She didn't tell me where she went, all she asked of me was if Dandelion and I could leave for the evening. So, we are going to go get drunk at the Cockatrice Inn and pray Dandelion here doesn't loose any more money!" she replied, slapping Dandelions back. "In my defence I think that Zerikkanian trader had trick cards up those flouncy sleeves of his" Dandelion shot back, with visible frustration. Ciri laughed "of course he cheated, come now my friend. Let us get piss drunk and find a lovely maiden to talk with. Goodbye Geralt, have a lovely evening!" Ciri then grabbed Dandelion by the shoulders and escorted him out the doors and down to the stables. As Geralt was just about to call out for Yennefer, she appeared as if she knew he was looking for her. She was holding a bottle of Est Est and two wine glasses "I bribed Ciri to leave for the evening so we can enjoy one another's company without Dandelions constant ballad ideas. Marlene has cooked us a beautiful meal and has been given the rest of the night off. So, what do you say Witcher? Spend the night with me?" Geralt smiled, pushing her hair away from her shapely shoulders "That sounds absolutely perfect to me, but first I brought you something for Yuletide.". Yennefer's eyebrows raised "I would never be able to deny a gift from an admirer, yet Yuletide is two weeks away? What prompted this?" she asked, "It was finished early and of all people you should know I am horrible at keeping secrets from you Yennefer. I shall be right back." Geralt replied, leaving to retrieve the gift.

Once he returned, he was holding a parcel, no bigger than a small bird, "I had this made for you in the capital, part of the reason I took a fortnight to return. This was made to show you how much I love and cherish you Yen. I whole heartedly could not imagine my life without you in it. You make me a better person, and you make me want to hang up my swords forever and spend the rest of my days with you... Always." Looking into Yennefer's eyes he saw them once again filling with tears, yet he knew they were tears of pure joy. Yennefer placed her hand on his face and pulled him towards her, kissing him with all the passion and love that she felt for him. She then turned her attention to the small parcel, untying the black velvet ribbon so timidly, one would think it was a Grapeshot bomb. Inside was a red box, carefully and slowly Yennefer opened the box to reveal a silver necklace. However, this silver necklace had a pendant the size of a Oren, the pendent was of a Wolf and Raven intertwined in an embrace, with the words "I wish to always be with Yennefer." engraved on the back. Yennefer began to weep once again; she had never been gifted with something so sentimental before. "Geralt I do not know what to say" she said through tears "This is an absolutely beautiful gift, I will wear it always, please could you put it on for me?" She spun around, lifting her cascade of raven black curls out of the way. Geralt couldn't help but kiss her neck as he lay the necklace around her neck, the smell of Lilac and Gooseberries never failed to give him chills and a strong desire to take her then and there. Geralt spun her around so she was once again facing him, "I will start a fire, you shall pour some of that Est Est for us, and we will lay together until the world ends. Or at least till Dandelion ruins the peace and quiet" In-between gentle kisses Geralt whispered in her ear "I love you Yennefer and I want nothing more than to make you happy, I thank Melitele everyday for bringing you into mine and Ciri's life" Yennefer smiled "I love you too Geralt. I am very grateful to that Djinn for leading you to Rinde all those years past. Come now my love, I shall pour the win whilst you start the fire" Yennefer said whilst kissing Geralt's cheek. For the remainder of the night Geralt and Yennefer laid in their bed, reading a loud to one another, laughing, drinking, and finally falling asleep in one another's arms. These were the days they craved for many years' past, being able to enjoy one another's company with no interruption. During these intimate moments both Geralt and Yennefer thanked Melitele for destiny placing them on one another's path, since they both knew their lives would have been very dull without one another.
