Season 2. Tag to There goes the neighborhood.
This is my version of how the Tornado episode should have gone… I mean they never even mentioned Julie's feelings and anyway… here I go.
The tornado came out of nowhere. Tim was looking outside and then there it was. Quickly, Tim grabbed Julie's hand and rushed her to a possible safe location, he had Julie underneath him. He was protecting her. Or so he hoped.
Julie was scared. She felt Tim around her. She wrapped her left hand around his arm pulling him closer. All of a sudden the windows blew in and the shelf they were hiding behind tiped over pinning them.
Julie was knocked to her side but clung on to Tim. She was on her back under him just holding him. He was holding her too but he let go and placed his hands on the ground behind her and then grunted in pain.
Julie snapped her eyes open and saw that the shelf was on top of them and Tim was holding it off of her with his body. He was in a push-up position. She felt his hips sink down onto her thighs and she could feel that he was excerting some real effort into keeping her from being crushed.
After what felt like minutes but was probably only one minute max. She felt him try to push up. He sank back down with a groan.
"Hey. I think we're stuck. Are you okay?" He asked.
She nodded. "I am. Are you?"
Tim looked into her eyes and could see the fear and the concern.
"Uh… I've been better… I think I've got some injuries here." He said trying to be calm about the pain he felt on his back and his ribs on the left side. He knew enough from football to know he probably had at least one broken rib and he didn't even know what else was wrong.
Julie slid her hands to his waist and he flinched.
"Sorry! What do we do?" She asked removing her hands.
Tim looked around as best as he could. He couldn't see anyone else but knew about 7 other customers had been in the store. He wondered if they could help… or if they were… He didn't want to finish that thought.
He licked his lips and decided a plan.
"Okay… Julie… I'm going to uh… lift up as much as I can and you can slide out and then we can go from there."
Julie thought that was a shit plan.
"Tim. That's a shit plan. You're hurt. We should just hold still."
He put his head on her shoulder. She could feel his sweat and could tell how tired he was getting.
She used both of her hands on his waist and pulled him down full on top of her.
The shelf stayed about 3 inches above him and he kind of relaxed.
"Am I crushing you?"
"Not at all. Are you okay now?"
He swallowed. "Better. I was trying to hold the shelf up…."
"I know. You're not superman… you know?"
He turned his head to face her and his breath tickled her ear.
"I know. Just… wanted you safe."
"Well… I'm good." She felt something warm and wet on her right hand. She pulled it up and then immediately slid it back to the floor. It was blood. She had Tim's blood on her hands. They needed help. And soon.
Tim felt her heart rate increase.
"You sure about that?" He asked kind of slurred.
She turned and looked at his face. He was slightly pale and his eyes were closed. He was in pain.
"Oh shit. Tim, open your eyes. Stay awake. Please. Someone will help us."
He smiled but didn't open his eyes.
"Yep. Jules. Someone will help us." He slurred again.
She didn't have anything to do. She did the only thing she could even think of, she pushed her lips against his in a sweet kiss and suddenly his eyes opened.
"Jules…"
She giggled a little.
"Well that got your eyes open. Tim we gotta get you to a hospital. I'm getting nervous here."
He licked his lips.
"Okay well… now that I'm not actually holding the shelf we could try to scoot down towards the aisle and then out from the shelf."
"Okay."
So they carefully scooted inch by painful inch for Tim. Finally they were halfway when they heard a voice.
"Hey, You kids alive?"
"Yes sir!" Julie answered.
"We need help getting out." She added.
"Okay we got two of us here… we can pull ya. Oh son, you're bleeding. You okay?"
"He needs help!" Julie shouted.
"I'm okay…" Tim whispered into Julie's shoulder.
Julie could feel how much he was sweating and shivering and she knew his back was bleeding somewhere. She was scared for him.
The two men carefully pulled them out and Julie slid out from under Tim. She got a good look at his back. His shirt had like fifteen slices all over from glass one particularly bad one was on his left side by his ribs. That was the big bleeder.
"Tim?"
"mmm?"
"Tim! Eyes open. NOW." She touched his cheek.
He opened his eyes and was able to sit up with some help. Julie knew she needed to get him to a doctor.
Later if you asked what happened Julie would say Tim saved her. Tim would say Julie saved him. In reality it was a little of both. Tim protected Julie from the storm but Julie got him help after when he was hurt.
