Guilty of Humanity - Episode 12
With their one day honeymoon over and the announcement by Sami that Cemal and Suna Gokdemir are the new faces and the operating heads of Gokdemir Holdings their work begins in earnest. Cemal instructs his secretary to organize a meeting with all the department heads to introduce himself and Suna. The meeting takes place that afternoon.
Cemal: with yesterday's announcement by my father of the management changes and the direction of Gokdemir Holdings a formal introduction is in order. I am Cemal Gokdemir your new President and CEO. Many of you know my wife Suna….. Suna's new duties will be to establish a new Label for the company that will place Gokdemir Holdings into the elite status of fashion. She will have a new speciality manufacturing of fabrics that will be incorporated into the new elite fashion line called ' Suna's " …. Her other duties are to be my senior advisor and administrative head. Her directives are my directives.
It is my intention to meet with each and everyone of you in the coming days and weeks to allow you to voice your suggestions and concerns about the company. I would especially like to know your ideas that could improve the company positions.
To answer some of the questions that many of you have been talking about ….. I will try to answer. First Up … I didn't seek nor want this job, but my father decided that I along with Suna could change the image and direction of his great company. My only qualifications for the job is that I'm my fathers son with a vision and drive to that he had when he first formed the company. The negative press that the company has been getting will be addressed with the new improved products that will be released to the public in the coming months and year.
I would now like my beautiful wife Suna to say a few words
Suna: To those of you that I haven't met before, I will do so and to those that I haven't , I intend to do so. My administrative Assistant Neslihan has agreed to return to Gordemir to help us in this endeavor, many of also know. As far as the new fashion line… we are developing new innovative fabrics that will only be used for one of kind designs that will be sold to those seeking uniqueness that will set them apart from others. The old workshop, with it's new staff will manufacture the products that we seek. Thank you, I look forward to working with you all.
Cemal: I will answer whatever company related questions you may have…. If not this meeting will be adjourned . Don't hesitate to come to me with any ideas you may have to improve the company.
As everyone leaves the big conference room Kemal, Suna and Neslihan evaluate the reactions that they saw.
Suna: From what I saw ….. they were looking at you with a questioning eye… your the son of Sami, but so what… They knew Gokhan , but they viewed him as a screw up … They don't know how to take you yet.
Nislihan: Suna is right…. They will wait to see what you can or can't do . The reaction to when you told them I was your administrative assistant made them wonder as to how that came about. They may be assuming that I came back seeking revenge. That should work in our favor… in that they may open up more to me. It was a good start… you got their attention Cemal: Nislihan, give me a list of those I should worry the most about… so I can do research on them.
Suna: Nislihan as you make that list for Cemal, I'm going to the workshop to get with Cevher to see how she is coming along with the workers…. This new fashion line has to become an instant hit, if we are to succeed on everything else.
Suna gives Cemal a kiss and heads to the workshop
Nislihan: She is leaving you with me on the first day… now we will see who will start talking.
Cemal: do I have something to worry about…. With that comment
Nislihan: I look at you as a brother and I would never do anything against you two … my intention is to help you as much as I can…. I owe you two my life .
Cemal: Get me the list , I want to now go to where the work is actually being done. Gokhan had everybody hating him done there , I want to see how the moral can be changed with him no longer there.
Cemal goes down to the production area and asks the department head to identify the different crew chiefs … he would like to talk to each crew individually. His first stop is the crew he was assigned to when he first arrived here.
Yelda: Cinderella man… from janitor to King
Production Chief: Yelda….. show some respect ….. Mrs Gokdemir is the new President
Cemal: I would like to hear what Yelda has to say
Yelda: Now that you are married, did your wife make you fire Cevher….. since she is no longer here
Cemal: No… Suna gave Cevher a promotion … she is the production chief working directly for Suna in our speciality line manufacturing… Yelda you should have been nice to Cevher… she would have taken you with her… since she selected the workers that she wanted in this area
The other workers look at Yelda and realize how badly she just got slapped down for her stupidity. They all realize that Cevher has in fact recruited a dozen people that have followed her. Being on the goodside of Cinderella man and his wife is a good thing. The word spreads throughout the production area The new boss is worker friendly unlike Gokhan.
Over at the workshop Suna meets with Cevher who introduces Suna to the new workers.
Suna: Cevher chose all of you for this project because she thinks you're the best workers to achieve what we are attempting to do. Our fabric not only have to be unique, they must be perfect… no flaws to them.
Suna begins to reveal some of the designs that the fabrics will be used for. Cevher and the workers all agree these cloths will be spectacular
Cevher: Suna, how do you think of such things… these designs are very beautiful any woman would love to wear cloths like this.
Suna: these cloths however, will be made for only certain women…. Those that will be able to afford the prices we will be charging. Once these are accepted for their exclusivity then I will design items that we can mass produce in the other manufacturing plant….. Cevher… how long do you think we can get some of the fabric made. I'm going to need to present a sample soon….. so that Cemal can present it at an upcoming board meeting…. That's our other problem….. Time
Cevher: After the final inspection of the equipment, we will start testing… tomorrow…. We will keep you on schedule.
Suna: Thank you Cevher…. I know we can count on you…. I will see you tomorrow
Suna calls Cemal to see how his schedule is running
Suna: Hi sweetheart…. Do you have time for dinner… so we can eat together
Cemal : My father called and asked if we could have dinner at the mansion …. He wants an update of how our first day went
Suna: here we go they are going to start occupying our time
Cemal: I promise you they won't ….. they need us more than we need them ….. we are still in control… How did it go at the workshop
Suna: I'll tell you when I come and get you … we will go to the mansion together….. I love you
Cemal: I love you too
Suna arrives at the Gokdemir Holdings Building and goes to her husbands office. She enters and closes the door behind her and goes to his desk and sits on his lap and gives him the most passionate of kisses.
Suna: I've waited all afternoon to be able to do this ….. I wish we didn't have to go , I would make love to you right now
Cemal: How did I ever get so lucky to get a woman like you
Suna gives him another kiss and then gets off of his lap because she doesn't want to settle for a quickie … she is in the mode for full love making and they will need more time than what they have now.
As President of the Company …..Cemal has a driver assigned to him with the limousine at his disposal. Suna and Cemal enter the Limousine and are brought to the mansion.
Once in the house Suna and Cemal are told that Kadriye and Emel won't be joining them for diner and that it will be just the three of them. Dinner is served and then Sami asks
Sami: How was your first day for both of you
Cemal: I held a department head meeting to introduce the both of us and gave some insight as to what they can look for… we got a feel of who's who… Suna talked a little about the new product line …. I then went down to the production area to get a sense of the workers where my encounter with a trouble maker actually turned into my favor.
Suna: What trouble maker
Sami: Gokhan always had problems down there… he always antagonized them
Cemal : It wasn't like that today….. Yelda who always picked on Cevher ….. called me Cinderella man and asked if you my dear wife had Cevher fired now that we are married. When I responded that Cevher got a promotion as production chief and was working directly under you …. The other workers laughed at her for being so stupid. The production chief told me that word had spread through out the floor , That I was a worker friendly boss. That's a good start.
Suna: We too had a good first day at the workshop, when the crew that Cevher chose saw the designs and the type of fabric we, were looking for they became excited about making such beautiful cloths.
Cemal: Neslihan ….. made a good point in that with Suna hiring her we will get a better sense of those that will undermine us
Sami: You hired Neslihan….. Why
Cemal: Since the company has been paying her all that money and getting nothing in return …. I wanted her to dig up all the things Gokhan was hiding from you … I didn't want any more surprises coming my way….. We both consider her a valuable asset ….. she is in our camp. She and Suna have become good friends
Sami: Son… I'm not worried as I thought I would be…. Where are you two staying
Suna: Everything has been happening so fast , we haven't found anyplace yet
Sami: Do you want to stay here
Suna: Thank you father Sami… but we need our time alone especially when we are getting to know each
Sami: I understand daughter… The company has a very nice guest house that you can use until which time you find that special place that you call yours… the driver knows where its at.
Cemal: Thank you Dad… that takes a little pressure off of us right now.
Sami: I couldn't be more proud of both of you …. I know I made the right decision.
They say their goodnights and the driver brings them to the honeymoon suite whereby they pick up their cloths and head to the guest house. As the Driver brings the luggage, Cemal picks up Suna and carries her into their first house together. The driver bids them goodnight and the Suna and Cemal walk around this very luxurious suite .
Cemal: There certainly are quite a few perks in being rich … look at this place … do you like it
Suna: It's beautiful… but I will like the place we pick together much better
Cemal: We can enjoy it while we are here
Suna: of course we can,… but we will find our place that we will call home … I don't want to remain a guest in the company's house… I want our house to be ours so our memories can begin
Cemal: I understand what you are asking….. but tonight we can make love here can't we
Smiling and laughing Suna : I've thought of the place we can start.
Suna: remember the day that you told me about Gokhan and Neslihan… do you you know where I found them…. As angry as I was about him cheating… I was envious that it wasn't me enjoying that pleasure with the man I love. Suna: The company has been keeping us very busy, but we will come tonight…. I will tell Cemal ….. see you tonight
Cemal : who was that
Suna: Your mother….. she wants us to come to dinner , which I agreed to. She wants advise on finding a new place to stay
Cemal: I can imagine what that is going to be like…. Esra wanting a mansion and my mother the slums
Suna: Maybe well get surprised… it will also give us a chance to look for a place of our own .
The driver picks them up and brings them to the office. Neslihan is waiting to talk to them.
Neslihan: I don't know if this is a problem , but it could be…. Gokhan made separate deal to allow our shipment to vendors to include products from this Aegean Exports….. Aegean Exports is like a shell company with no products.
Cemal: How did you find out about it
Neslihan: Someone from shipping came up and enquired if this was still going to be allowed now that Gokhan isn't here
Suna: I see you're going to be busy…. I'm going to the shop to see if the test run can be made today…. I love you and will see you later
Neslihan: you guys are so cute together
Cemal: Get everyone that would have any knowledge of this and bring to my office
Cemal calls Sami
Cemal: Dad…. Do you know anything about Aegean Exports and why they would be involved with using our trucks to deliver products…. I'm getting every one involved to get an understanding … it turns out it was a deal Gokhan was involved in
Sami: Tell me what you find out and I'll do some checking myself
Neslihan has the head of shipping along with shipping crew chiefs come to Cemal office.
Cemal: Can anyone tell me what we are doing with Aegean Exports … Help me understand this situation
Head of Shipping: Six months ago , Gokhan instructed me to accept these shipments from Aegean Exports and to deliver them to the designated destinations, which where en route to our destinations .
Cemal: does anyone know what the product is that they are sending… How often are they sending things
Shipping Crew Chief: Gokhan, told all of us that he had everything handled and we shouldn't question … personally I don't like what's going down
Cemal : Explain
Shipping Crew Chief: Everything we send we know exactly what's in the truck, these shipments we know nothing… we 're getting set up if these are illegal items … we don't know … who gets the blame
Cemal: how often do these shipments happen
Shipping crew chief: first of every month
Cemal: have we received any payments … is there any paper trail attached to any of this
Head of Shipping: Gokhan handled everything.
Cemal: What do any of you suspect what that product is…. I know you guys have a sixth sense about these things.
Shipping Crew Chief: My opinion , drugs or guns
Cemal: I want to be informed when your contacted again and when the shipment is to be received
Cemal calls Sami
Cemal: Dad….. did you find out anything…. This thing may be a smuggling operation… drugs or guns…. That's what the crew chiefs think. I'm thinking I should get the cops involved and do a sting operation , this way we're protecting the company from anymore bad press.
Sami : I think your right … Gokhan was desperate for money when that other girl died ….. so he may have made the deal. Get the police involved.
Cemal calls Commissioner Hakan and informs him of the situation and would like him to set up a sting operation so that the company has no involvement in it. Hakan knows of The Aegean Exports Company and has been waiting to catch them in the act.
Suna returns to the office so they can go to Hulya for dinner
Cemal explains the situation that Gokhan has gotten them into with this side deal…. The repercussions is what is concerning him.
Cemal: we will see how it plays out…. How was your day
Suna: the first test run was really good the fabric is what I was looking for….. we will do another run tomorrow to check the consistency of the fabric… Then I'll have the design made out of it.
They arrive at Hulya's who greets them with hugs and kisses… Esra and Cevher are also there. They eat dinner and then begin their conversation.
Hulya : What you said about the trust that we should watch what we spend…. Esra wants this fancy place ….. What should we do
Cemal: How do you want to live….. father has given you money that you can live very well , question is how well. Do want to live like Suna's mother that lived in a Mansion but ran out of money trying to stay their….. You don't ever have to live in the slums ever again… but there are options.
Suna: Mother Hulya… Cemal and I are just starting to look for a place of our own… as we look we can show you also and then you can decide.
Esra: Are you going to look for a mansion like Uncle Sami
Suna: I would never want a place like that…. Cemal and I will find a nice comfortable place that when our children come they will be happy there.
Hulya: Daughter … are you blessed already
Suna: No mother…. But when we are our love will give us beautiful children that I'm certain….… Cevher… did you share at how beautiful the fabric you made today….. Cevher and her crew mad the most beautiful fabric
Cevher: It was very beautiful… but is was your ideas that came to life ….. when you have the Tailors make the garment ….. it will be even more beautiful.
Cemal : you've given great confidence , Cevher … Thank you
Suna: this has been a long day for us , I will let you know when we start our search … Thank you for Dinner , Mother
