Guilty of Humanity - Episode 15
Month's have passed, the sting operation that Commissioner Hakan put together produced the results that he was hoping for. The leaders of the Aegean Exports have all been charged and imprisoned for their extensive gun smuggling and illegal drug distributions.
Gokhan Gokdemir was very helpful in this operation since he gave Commissioner Hakan the names of the leaders that were blackmailing him into using Gokdemir shipping to transport their products. Today Commissioner Hakan has to tell Sami Gokdemir what happened.
Sami: Commissioner Hakan….. it's been some time since we talked last …. I understand you resolved the Aegean Export problem
Hakan: Mr Gokdemir….. your son Gokhan made it all possible ….. but with great sadness I have to inform you that Gokhan was murdered last evening. I'm deeply sorry for your loss
Sami: How could this have happened…. You assured us that if Gokhan collaborated he would have been in protective custody….. How did this happen
Hakan: We have the persons that did this, but the crime bosses were determined to send a message that no one betrays them… they bribed our prison guards to turn the other way … they will be prosecuted for their actions. I have no other words to tell you other the system failed.
Sami: Hakan…. Yet my son is dead …. The system failed is no excuse… you gave us your word…. Please leave
Sami calls Cemal
Sami: Son I want extra surveillance on yourself and Suna
Cemal: What happened Dad
Sami: Hakan was just here to tell me the system failed, Gokhan was murdered last night in prison….. They can't protect us so we must protect ourselves.
Cemal: I'm sorry Dad… even though I didn't get along with Gokhan… he didn't deserve this…. I'll take care of this
Cemal calls Hakan
Cemal : Hakan…. What went wrong and what danger is my family in
Hakan: We got those involved ….. they will be prosecuted
Cemal: Hakan… that's not good enough… What will be done with the crime bosses
Hakan: They have been put into isolation…. Look I understand you and your father are upset , but I still have to operate in this system as bad as it is… until they are sentenced I'll put extra surveillance on your family members
Cemal: I'll take care of our own surveillance… with people we can trust… do your job this time and put those bastards away for good… At least tell me this are they coming after us or was Gokhan the only one they wanted
Hakan: Gokhan was their scapegoat….. he pointed them out and they made him an example…. They now know you and your father won't tolerate them and aren't afraid of them. They will go else where for distribution methods. Any consolation they won't be coming after your family.
Cemal: bring Gokhan's body to us so that we can have a proper funeral for him
Cemal talks to Suna
Cemal: sweetheart… even though Gokhan wasn't your favorite person of late, but we just got word that he was murdered last night and I'm taking extra precautions in keeping all of us safe.
Suna: Gokhan is dead… how did they let this happen…. He does one good thing in his life and he gets killed for it. What extra precautions are you taking
Cemal: I've hired special opps body guards for the family until the funeral just to be safe. Hakan doesn't think they will be coming for us since they know we aren't afraid of them , but this will be just a precaution
Suna: I don't know if I'll ever get use to this life… why can't we just go have a simple life for ourselves.
Cemal: We are in it right now and we have to make the most of it….. we are a team right
The funeral takes place and all the major business heads of Istanbul come to show their respects to Sami Gokdemir and his family. Commissioner Hakan also makes a visit and talks to Cemal
Hakan: Cemal… this is no consolation on a day like today, but in away it is appropriate…. The crime lords were all found dead in their cells last night…. Apparently their higher bosses were so embarrassed by their actions that put so much light on their dealings that they removed the embarrassment. Your family is safe
Cemal: Thank you Commissioner… living under this cloud as be stressful on everyone
Hakan: Again , I'm deeply sorry for the grief we caused your family.
Gokhan's casket is lowered into his grave sight, Sami and Cemal both put their shovels of dirt unto it covering the casket completely. This last sight was to much for Emel to bare and faints. The body guards who were standing close to her manage to catch her before she fell to the ground. Sami runs to his wife to try to comfort her but he has been on the receiving end of all her criticism and rants since she heard of Gokhan's death.
Back at the mansion, The family doctor prescribes tranquilizers to keep her from going into a further depression , but her scorn of Sami continues for ever bringing them to Adana and bringing that side of the family back into their lives and causing so much grief for Gokhan. The grief continued weeks until one night Emel decided that she rather be with her son than continue to live in this world. She takes the full bottle of tranquilizers before she went to sleep permanently.
The next morning the servants found Emel in her bed lifeless. Sami begins to question as to why this much tragedy has come to him in such a short time. The Funeral preparations are made and once again all the business leaders attend to give their condolences to Sami and his family. Hulya and Esra both attend to show their respect to Sami.
Hulya grabs Sami's hand with both of her hands and tells him: You're not alone… if you should need me I will be with you
Sami looks into Hulya's eyes and understands the message that he has been waiting and wanting to hear these past twenty five years … Hulya has forgiven him.
The time of grief has passed and now the time of accomplishment is about to be unveiled. The first board meeting for Cemal is to take place with the unveiling of the Suna line of high fashion. The meeting begins with Sami as Chairman of the Board making an introductory statement.
Sami: Sometime ago I found myself wondering as to what was happening to this great company that I built. I went to all the so called experts and was given answers that weren't very satisfactory…. This has never been an ordinary company but always an exceptional company that was becoming ordinary. That was unacceptable to me. For the grace of god my number one son that I didn't know I had enters my life and I saw traces of myself when I started this company. Who better to revitalize Gokdemir Holdings than a duplicate Gokdemir only better, stronger and more determined… My son Cemal and his beautiful wife Suna took the challenge that I gave them and have exceeded all my expectations. Please look at the following video of how all this came about.
Master Tailor Ali gives a brief description of the process that took place from design to to fabric selection and ultimately the final products. Mister Ali shows clips of Suna formulating the designs that are unique and stylish of anything the market has to offer.
Next phase is the fabric manufacturing whereby Cevher and her crew weave the choice of fabric that Suna has desired to make her designs as unique as they are. Each design is conceived for the unique look for whatever occasion the customer may desire.
Master Tailor Ali and his staff carefully fit Suna so the final product is made to perfection. The video ends with Suna dressed in each of her designs
Cemal: As you can see from the video a great deal of effort was placed into a product and a product brand that can only be called Suna …. My beautiful wife Suna is here to let you see the final product and why we are so excited that this fashion line will place Gokdemir above our competitors.
Suna enters and all eyes on her dress that does make a statement. She walks around as each board member gets a closer look and gives their approval to the finished product.
Suna: I would like to give my husband and my father -in- law my thanks in letting me do this experiment the way it needed to be done. We have an exceptional crew that have paid close attention to every detail in this process. A special thanks to Master Tailor Ali for his advise and support in making this come together the way it has. The video that you have seen will be a main staple to our advertising campaign that will be directed towards our selected market. Cemal and I will answer whatever questions you may have.
Each board member asks questions about targeted markets , market shares and the impact on this high end sector that has been dominated by named designers.
Cemal: Which of you can say that this line hasn't sold itself…. With Suna as it's spokes person , our test markets have shown that Suna's name will be equated to the top designers. We are extremely confident that Suna's will be that for Gokdemir Holdings. I would also like to report, that the first quarter financial numbers reflect the other changes that have been made in production and shipping. I decided to change our production pay to commensurate with actual production , whereby the more a worker produces without flaws the more compensation they will receive. This has resulted in lower waste factors, less employee turnover and increased production, that increased our first quarter financials whereby the net profit increased by 10% or increased shareholder return by 10%. This is just our first quarter…. I'm anticipating further gains with other programs that we have been experimenting with and will be discussed in future board meetings.
Sami returns to the podium and thanks Cemal and Suna…. Then asks for a visual vote of confidence in the new direction that Gokdemir Holdings has under taken. A unanimous visual vote was received.
Sami: At the next board meeting the company will experience even further growth in the everyday sectors of the company. Thank you all for the vote of confidence …. This meeting is adjourned.
Cemal: Dad tell us straight…. Is there anything we can improve upon
Sami: Coming out of the shoot you two have done an amazing job… now you have to keep it up …. There are many one hit wonders….. to repeat this kind of success quarter after quarter will be the hard part. I'm extremely confident that you two will be up to the task. I'm so happy I would like you and Suna and Hulya and Esra to join me for dinner at the mansion tonight…. May this be our first family dinner.
Cemal: Are you sure mom will come
Sami: I hope she will … All I can do is ask
Sami calls Hulya
Sami : Hulya … you recently told me that if I should need you… you would be there… tonight I want to have a family dinner celebrating Cemals and Suna's big day in front of the board of directors… I want this to be strictly us and no outsiders …. Will you and Esra and the baby come…. I will have the limousine pick you up
Hulya: Is this strictly for the celebration or is there more to this invitation
Sami: Cemal, Suna, you , Esra and the baby are the only family I have left other than my mother and she has gone back to her own home. I am alone and I want to be around my family after 25 years ….. Will you come
Hulya: Since it is just us…. We will be with you…. Do you know of the new home that we are in
Sami: Cemal has kept me informed…. The driver will be there at 6:00 PM
On the way to the mansion Suna and Cemal have a conversation that isn't about the business
Suna: Ever since you told me about this dinner, I just can't help wondering if this is Father Sami trying to get back together with your mom…. They were each others great love
Cemal: I don't know about that… there was a lot said the past twenty five years…. Maybe it's just an olive branch and we are the only family he has left
Suna: I know I could never forget our love no matter how angry I would be with you….. if that was the case… there is only one great love in anyone's history
Cemal: You're such a romantic and I love you for it…. But we will see how this plays out.
As it turns out Suna and Cemal arrive at the same time Sami's limousine with Hulya and Esra and the baby arrive….. All five of them enter the mansion together with a very happy Sami eagerly waiting for them.
Sami has decided to make this dinner special in that the entire meal will be be from the Adana area. The chef prepared the following dishes that got everyones attention. The first course is the Yuksuk Corbasi - Turkish Wedding Soup served with Lahmacum a spicy flatbread that looks like Pizza.
Suna: Father Sami, what made you decide this … this is so good … I love Adana food ever since you brought me there… Cemal brings me to the cart vendors on the coast and we just pig out
Cemal: she does pig out… she loves Adana food
Hulya: Daughter….. I will teach you the different Adana recipes
Esra: Sister…. You have gone to 5 star dining and you prefer Adana food….. what's wrong with you
Suna: 5 star doesn't make it that good….. This food is tasty … I can't wait for the Adana Kebabi
Cemal: My wife would be very happy in Adana … I've known that from the first time I laid my eyes on her in Adana.
Sami: Adana has very special memories for me and Suna you are correct Adana Food is great…. I always pigged out their maybe that's why I got so fat
Hulya: Do you remember how many Kebabis you ate that first time we were together… I couldn't believe how well you ate
Sami: The ones you made for me I even ate more
Suna and Cemal look at each other and smile, Sami and Hulya are remembering their good times together.
The Next course is the famous Adana Kebabi served with Roasted Peppers and Large Tomatoes , with Onion Sumac Parsley Salad and Lavas.
Suna: This is not fair… this is to good , how am I going to fit in those Designer Dresses that I have to showcase.
Sami: Hulya… you would have been so proud of our son and daughter in law today… they had the board of directors thoroughly impressed…. They were such a hit today
Suna: after tonight I will have to fast for a week… but this is worth it
Esra: Cevher has told us how beautiful you are in those dresses, will we be able to see them
Suna: Of course you can…. I brought the video that we are using to promote them …. We all can see it after dinner.
Hulya: daughter…. You and our son working together so well together, warms my heart that he has found such a wonderful wife as you. When can we expect grandchildren
Suna and Cemal look at each other with the biggest grin on there faces
Cemal: Mother, let me just say that we are enjoying each other as well as two people can… If we are blessed with children… they will be conceived in love and welcomed.
Suna kisses her husband on the check giving her approval
Sami: This house hasn't had a dinner like this in a very long time … I hope we can do it more often
Hulya: I agree , but next time we will do it at our house… I would like to show our daughter Cemal's favorite recipes.
Suna: If this keeps up … I will be fat…. Cemal we will have to have more sex to keep my weight down
Sami, Hulya and Esra bust out laughing as Cemal continues to blush and Suna has this look on her face that says did I just say that.
Sami: I think it's time for the video , before our two stars tell even more of what they do.
After seeing the video Hulya can't help but to comment: Daughter… it is your beauty that makes those dresses so beautiful….. You have done an amazing job… Bless you child for coming into our lives.
Suna: Thank you Mother Hulya, that means a lot to me… but you can't let me get fat, until I get pregnant
Hulya: you do want children
Suna: I want children with Cemal more than anything… our children will make our love complete, that is what I care about the most… fame , power, money are temporary, family is forever.
Kemal: Now everyone understands why I love her so… so is as unique as those dresses she designs.
Hulya: we must go, baby Asaf is ready for his bed…. Thank you for the most enjoyable evening for all of us ….. Sami, we are family and you will not be alone.
Hulya, Esra and the baby are driven home… Esra asks : Are you and Uncle Sami starting to see each other differently
Hulya: daughter… we have many wounds to heal, tonight showed that we can at least try …. Sami has always been my greatest love and was my greatest enemy…. We will see which one wins.
Before Cemal and Suna leave Sami wants to talk to them more.
Sami: Thank you both , tonight was an evening that I haven't had in this house… a real family dinner …. This house came alive… I would like to suggest something to you and your under no obligations to do so…. Today you showed me that the two of you are ready to take Gokdemir Holdings to new heights….. In doing so you will need a house like this to accomplish things that will be in store for you. I would like you to move into this house and treat it as your own. If by some miracle …. I can convince your mother to come back to me, I want to show her the world… This house will always be yours and your children… make it the place it deserves to be.
Suna and Cemal look at each other and can't believe what Sami has just offered and what he would like to happen with Hulya.
Cemal: Suna and I will have to talk about this, because this was not what we had in mind, but we do understand what you are saying. As far as mother… I have no objections, mother needs to be treated like a queen after all those years of hardship.
