Changes I've made:
-Character storyline had been altered
-Misako is not with Nya and Lloyd
-Lloyd receives his power a different way
"Harumi." A whisper escaped Lloyd's voice as he stared off into the distance towards the girl who had a look of fear in her face as she stood standing at the roof of the collapsing building. Lloyd just stood there and watched, holding Skylor's unconscious body in his arms, a look of denial and sadness on his face, yet surprisingly managed to hold it straight. He felt powerless, but at the same time knew he couldn't do anything. Even with his powers. Harumi had caused him pain and heartbreak. He trusted her, only for her to betray him in the end.
He sensed something different in her though. He sensed a change, yet, he wasn't certain.
She had stolen his father and manipulated him to the dark lord he was in his full appearance, replacing him. Yet, it seemed like all the anger from before left him as he watched the building collapse to the ground, the sound of his father screaming in misery could be heard echoing.
Lloyd didn't realize a tear had escaped his eye before feeling it itch from lingering on his face too long. He wiped it away and snapped out of his trance when Dareth yelled out, "I hate to break the moment, but we got company!" He pointed out to the mega glowing purple stone creature, Garmadon's
Colossus as it marched back towards them in the distance. Gasping, Lloyd turned back around and began to drag Skylor's unconscious body back to the roof entrance room.
He recalled Skylor and Kai's relationship. The two really seemed to have a bond as Lloyd's kind began to get clouded with their romantic moments together; even just the two of them talking came off that way to him. He glanced at the girl and then back towards him, the weight of hers slowing him down. Why was he feeling this way all of a sudden? He couldn't answer himself. Jealousy? But for what? He squinted his eyes shut for a moment, trying to clear his mind again, it was only making him more upset. He must be feeling this way because he had just lost someone who was close to him.
He wondered how things would've been if he actually sided with Harumi. Would she still eventually gain legitimate feelings for him? Would he have obtained his father's love despite the man he once knew was no more? Too many questions and too many possibilities. What's done is done. He's the green ninja, that's his title. Though, ever since his power's were gone, he began to doubt being it anymore. His destiny is to protect Ninjago. He has the blood of the first Spinjitzu master. He's part Oni. There's no room for him to take his father's way.
He's not like his childhood self anymore.
"Lloyd, hurry up! It's almost here!" Nya yelled out, holding the exit door wide open as the sound of the Colossus's stone feet could be heard echoing closer in the distance. Lloyd glared as he tried to pick up the pace, the weight of Skylor was gaining on him. Without his powers, things had been way more difficult. He eventually pulled through and left, Nya shutting the door as they ran to the streets. "We gotta head to the Battle Wagon!" Nya yelled out as the roar of the Colossus neared them, the sound of things crashing echoed through the city. The vision of Harumi stilled flashed before him. First the rest of his friends, the Ninja were gone stuck in the realm of Oni and Dragons with no idea when they'll return, now Harumi gone.
Stop caring for her. She betrayed, manipulated, and hurt you. Most importantly, he missed Kai's protective self against him. Kai always went out of his way to protect him. He never even asked, he just instinctively tended to him the most, like he was his brother. Lloyd definitely felt something towards the other boy, he felt grateful. Without Kai rescuing him way back in the volcano, he wouldn't be here. Ninjago would've totally been different. It's all thanks to Kai. He can't let his life go to waste when it was saved by him. He's here for a purpose and that purpose is to protect the people of Ninjago and restore the balance of good and evil.
They continued to run, Dareth in the lead as he kept watch while Nya swooped in and helped Lloyd out with carrying Skylor. "I don't know if she'll make it Lloyd," Nya confessed, panting as she too sounded out of breath. Lloyd looked over at her, surprised. "What's making you say that? There's gotta be something we can try. I mean, she's Kai's girlfriend!" Lloyd exclaimed, staring towards Nya who had a hopeless and saddened look. Lloyd couldn't fathom it either. He couldn't imagine anyone else going through these feelings like he was as well. It felt like he had drank a bottle of poison and the results were about to kick in any moment. He couldn't see Kai upset, he knows how much Skylor means to him. If Skylor were to die now, she would die a hero.
Lloyd began to wonder again. What if they never took control of the Colossus. Mystaké would still be alive. Harumi would've still been alive. Even Skylor would've still been alive. It was his plan, now he feels even worse for it. He's the cause of all these deaths. It's all his fault. "I-I'm sorry." Lloyd suddenly spoke up. "With what?" Nya spoke up, her panting growing sharper the more they ran. "I put us in this mess. If I never told Skylar and Mystaké to and grab Garmadon's power..." Lloyd paused, staring down at the ground as he seemed to be going through another phase of emotions. "Lloyd no," Nya started, already knowing what he was referring to.
He hesitantly looked up at her with an upset look. "They went willingly, not unwillingly. There's a difference. We all agreed as a team. You didn't force anyone," she reassured. "Things were bound to fall apart at some point Lloyd. Have you seen what's out there? A ten story tall stone creature is causing havoc amongst the city—"
"Well, well, if it isn't Lloyd and Mrs. Petty," a figure laughed, coming out from the shadows as they played with a dagger in their hands, a smirk laced their face. "Ultra Violet." Lloyd spat, glaring towards her as both Nya and him came to a stop. Dareth had already been tackled to the ground by bad as he laid curled up into a ball. Lloyd got ready to fight, despite knowing he had no powers. "What're you going to do? Attack me with an imaginary power ball?" Ultra violet laughed, before taking out the purple Oni Mask. "Ayeyeyeyeyeyeyaaaa!" She screamed before charging towards Lloyd and putting the mask on. Lloyd took out a metal sword he had for some form of defense and began to ready himself. "You go get the truck! I'll hold them off!" Nya nods, and frantically begins running, only to get stopped.
"Going somewhere?" A giant gray skinned beast, Killow rhetorically asks, surprising Nya as he came out of the shadows. Nya didn't get a chance to answer before Killow puts on the second orange Oni Mask and begins to laugh evilly as the power of the mask takes shape on his face. Horns begin to come out along with a bright flare of orange light. Kilo began to charge towards Nya as Lloyd glanced over. Nya began to use her elemental power of water by extracting it from a nearby hydrant. Forming the water into balls, she began firing them towards the beast, only to stun him for a moment. "Back you fool!" She grunted, repeating the process.
Dareth moved from his spot and ran to a nearby alley to hide, peaking over behind a garbage can go see the action. "They're too strong! We can't hold them off!" Nya exclaimed as they stood next to each other, trying to fight their enemies off. Lloyd continued to grunt as he blocked any attacks Ultra Violet made and the two were sure to get out of the way for anything they threw towards them. Suddenly, just as hole seemed lost, a huge ripple could be heard sparking over Ninjago as the sky opened up. Everyone looked up to see dragons coming out. One large red dragon roared in the sky while the other medium sized followed.
"They're back!" Lloyd exclaimed in happiness, the two of them letting out elated smiles. The dragons made an angled turn, passing Garmadon's tower and making their way towards both Nya and Lloyd. Kilo and Ultra Violet backed away, getting intimidated as the dragons swooped down lower to the ground. "Jay! Cole! Kai! Zane!" They both exclaimed in relief and happiness as the group United. Hugs exchanged here and there while the two caught up with the young adult Sensei Wu. After greeting Wu, Both Lloyd and Kai shared a hug for a brief moment. Both Kai and Lloyd asked each other if they had been okay, almost as if it was an extinct. As they hugged, Kai's eyes landed to the body of Skylor's laid on the road still unconscious.
He pulled away and ran towards her body. "Skylor?" Kai asked as he took a seat next to her, picking her unconscious head up under his hands as he looked down at her. "Wake up, I'm here," he whispered, hoping she'd wake up even though he wasn't sure what exactly happened to her. "What happened to her? Why won't she wake up?" Kai asked, a saddened look on his face as he turned towards Lloyd and Nya. The rest of the Ninja stayed quiet. "Kai..." Nya started in a brief low mellow whisper as she slowly approached him.
"She saved us," Nya continued. Meanwhile Lloyd stayed quietly, the same lump of guilt that was lingering in him from before because of his doubts started to grow back inside him. Kai's never going to talk to me once he realizes her death was my fault. I shouldn't have devised that plan. I shouldn't have. Innocent lives were killed. Of all plans I could've thought of. Lloyd felt at the verge of tears as his lip quivered. He stared down at the ground. "She went to steal Garmadon's power to control the Colossus. Turns out it was too much power for her to handle and control to the point she blacked out," Nya continued to explain as Kai stood there shaking his head in denial. "No... no I mean she just couldn't..." Kai closed his eyes, dipping his head down in sorrow as he glanced over towards Skylor's body. The sudden roar of the Colossus could be heard even closer.
"You Ninja go take care of the Colossus. Lloyd, I need your help to defeat your father!" Sensei Wu called out to the grieving boy. He wiped his face and nodded, knowing he's gotta do what he's gotta do regardless of the circumstances. He ran towards Wu's dragon, looking back to see Kai grieving at the loss of his girlfriend, shaking his head in denial as he peered over her face while Nya rested her hand on his shoulder.
— "Ninjago has been blessed with two brave souls. They taught us that just because of your age or job does not define the type of person you are inside. From a former tea lady with her innermost secret hidden from the world, to a former enemy in crime who later joined the Ninja in helping to save Ninjago, we'd like to thank these two brave souls for risking their lives for the betterment of rescuing Ninjago city. Thank you for your sacrifices Mystaké and Skylor Chen."
The service man read aloud the ceremonial oration as Lloyd sat next to Kai, being there for him despite also losing someone close to him. Enemy or not.
Shockingly, Kai began to cry in Lloyd's shoulder, letting it out for a moment before stopping. "No... No. she-She wouldn't want me. Crying," he coughed up, wiping his face as Lloyd stared over at him before turning to the ground, finding it harder to keep it to himself as he fidgeted a little around his chair, as if he needed to use the restroom. The sermon continued as the crowd sat quietly, their heads bent. Mystaké's death was hard on Wu as well as Lloyd glanced over to see his mother Misako rubbing his shoulder from behind as Wu's head dipped down in sorrow.
"I-I'm sorry." Lloyd finally spoke up as Kai glanced over to him for a brief moment and then back down to his lap and sighed. He quietly nodded in understanding, but Lloyd didn't mean solely that. "No, I mean I'm sorry. It's all my fault," he sighed, looking down at the ground in disappointment. "What do you mean?" Kai finally spoke up, his voice still a little shaky as Lloyd hesitated to tell him. "It was my idea for Skylor to go grab my father's power to control the thing. If I never told that plan, she would still be here. Even Mystaké."
After pausing, Lloyd was surprised Kai was quiet. He glanced over to see him having his eyes a bit wide for a moment. "Lloyd, come on don't hurt yourself like this. If it wasn't for you, we wouldn't be here. Like Nya said, they agreed. You didn't force them. It was for the betterment of Ninjago. They all knew what they were putting themselves into. With war comes sacrifices. I know you'd never do anything like this to hurt me or anyone for that matter. You're a strong and brave kid." Kai didn't stutter or flinch despite his precious sentences being a little shaky. He spoke with full force as Lloyd stared at him in amazement.
Then, Lloyd began to break down for a moment as he turned to his lap and shook his head for a moment. "I... I.. Don't even know who I am anymore." He whispered lowly, but Kai could still here. They were two broken boys needed to be fixed, and the only way they can be repaired is by being together during these times. "You're a hero Lloyd. You beat Garmadon and saved everyone when hope seemed little. You taught us and led us through when Sensei Wu wasn't there. You're Lloyd Montgomery Garmadon. The green ninja."
Kai continued to speak with a straight face, almost as if he hadn't lost anything, but his red eyes from crying gave it away. "No... I'm not even green anymore. My power's are hardly back Kai. I'm just sitting here in a green robe."
"Lloyd color isn't something that should define who you are. Neither should a uniform or power. It's your personality, hope, and morals that should define you. Regardless of you not having your powers, you'll get them back. You're still a hero regardless. You saved us, Lloyd. At least give yourself credit for that."
Lloyd turned back over to him, smiling faintly before remembering his loss as well. Kai instinctively brought his hand closer towards Lloyd's, holding it in the process to make him feel a bit better. "Whatever happens now. We can beat it. I promised I will be there for you, and I'm keeping my word." As Lloyd felt contact with Kai's hand, he suddenly felt his insides spark. His body began to glow green while Lloyd sat there studying himself in amazement. All eyes were staring over toward's Lloyd as people wondered what was going on. Kai stood there smiling faintly, as the rest of the ninja for a brief moment knowing what was going on. Lloyd was getting his powers back. Lloyd stared out towards Kai, smiling a little as his once black eyes changed back to green, his green uniform changing back to a more advanced look just like the rest of the Ninja's. Eventually, the green light went away and Lloyd was staring back at everyone. He was back to normal. After people got over the amazement that was seen before them, the ceremonial orator gathered the crowd back and Kai and Lloyd stared at each other with a smile. "I told you," he whispered, joining his hand back with Lloyd's instinctively, a flash of glow sparking between the two joined hands for a moment.
They may have lost good people, but they also learned that with pain, comes ease; with patience comes reward, with loss comes recovery, and with hopelessness comes hope.
