I know that this took a little longer to post than my recent chapters, but it's out now, yay!

Also, a quick shout-out to Anonymous for reviewing, as well as everyone else who's reviewed in the past! Your support means so much to me. :D

District 4: Marine Gray, Age 16

"Why is it my responsibility to guard the Cornucopia?"
"Because I told you to. That should be reason enough, considering that I'm the leader of the Careers."
"Oh my God. Nobody cares that you're the stupid leader! And besides, why can't Nemo just do it again?"
No way," Nemo responds immediately. "That's not fair. I did my duty yesterday. Today, I get to go out hunting."
"Why don't you just do it?" Juno asks Octavian angrily.

"Because I need to be out in the jungle, killing tributes," he says. "Juno, why don't you-"

"That's it. I'll guard the freaking Cornucopia," I finally say.

"You don't have to do that," Juno protests. I shake my head.

"It's fine, whatever," I say. "You guys go out hunting. Try to kill some people."

Juno kicks the dirt angrily but finally relents. "Alright," she says. "Come on guys, let's move." I take a long drink of water as I watch them leave. Juno and I have gotten pretty close in the arena, but her constant bickering with Octavian is starting to drive me crazy. I mean, I hate Octavian as much as her, but unlike her, I know when to keep my mouth shut. Juno just can't let things go. As soon as he insults her in any way, she lashes back out at him. At first, I thought it was kind of funny, but now… Well, now it's just ridiculous.

Calm down, I think to myself. You won't have to deal with them for much longer. The thought makes me smile a little. In a week or two, they'll both be dead, and I'll be wearing the victor's crown.

District 9: Albin Ainsley, Age 15

I trudge through the jungle, listening to the crunching sound the leaves make when I step on them. I keep turning my head, expecting to see Erin walking beside me, but all I see is empty space. Despite the constant twittering of the birds, the arena feels completely silent. The quiet presses down on my skull, reminding me that I have no more friends left in this jungle. Two of my old allies are dead, and the one that's still alive is a crazy psychopath willing to kill people without a second thought, even when they trusted him.

The dinging of a sponsor parachute tears me from my thoughts, and I grin, looking up towards the sky. When the parachute lands, I peek inside to see what I got. My eyes light up when I see two gleaming silver knives as well as a few cans of soup inside the package. I pick up the knives and examine them with satisfaction. When I find Scorpius, he'll probably assume that I won't have a weapon. But he'll be wrong.

I can't wait to see him again.

District 2: Octavian Grimes, Age 18

There's nothing I'd rather do more in the world right now than kill Juno Armstrong.

She just will not shut up. Her loud voice probably isn't helping us find tributes, either.

"Hey," I hiss at her, interrupting her rant about God-knows-what. "Could you try and be a little more quiet? We're trying to hunt tributes, you know, not scare them away."

"Oh, stop whining," Juno says.

"I'm not whining," I retort. "I'm just saying that you need to- hey!"

I stop talking when I hear the sound of pounding footsteps. A tribute- or tributes- are trying to run away from us.

"After them!" I roar, taking off in their direction. Through the cracks in the trees, I see a flash of bright red hair and grin to myself.

We've found Ariana and Blaze.

District 2: Juno Armstrong, Age 18

I sprint as fast as I can after our old allies from One, my blood pumping with adrenaline. Ariana is shooting arrows at us she runs, but it's not really doing much other than slowing her down. Blaze runs ahead of her, but he keeps having to pause and wait for her to catch up with him. Obviously, he doesn't want to leave her behind. That'll be a fatal mistake.

Ariana is having trouble aiming since she's trying to move so fast, but she's still a pretty good shot. I gasp lightly as she fires a shot that flies straight towards my skull. I don't have time to dodge, and so instinctively I raise my arm to defend myself. The arrow sinks into my flesh and I scream. The blow isn't fatal, though, and the pain does nothing but make me angrier. I sprint towards the pair with a speed I've never known before and thrust out with my sword. Ariana's eyes widen and she ducks under my blade. She grabs an arrow and tries to stab me with it, but I grab her wrist and twist it until I hear her cry out in pain. I prepare to finish her off when she uses her free hand to punch me in the face with surprising strength, sending me reeling backwards. I feel blood running down my face, probably from a bloody nose, and rage courses through me. Blaze charges at me with his spear, but Octavian and Nemo run to meet him.

I gain my balance and swing wildly at Ariana. She leaps to the ground and rolls away, grabbing a large stick in the process. When I bring my sword down again, she holds the stick out and our weapons collide. The stick is thick enough to keep from breaking at the force of the impact. Maybe this will be harder than I thought, I think, struggling to push my sword down towards her neck.

Ariana knocks my weapon away and leaps to her feet. For a split second, I take my eyes off of her and see how my allies are doing against Blaze. Nemo is on the ground, holding his leg and groaning in pain. A few feet from him, Octavian and Blaze are locked in a vicious duel. Blaze is so occupied with the fight, however, that he's left his back completely exposed. I grin and arch my sword down at him, preparing to cleave him in half, when I'm slammed backwards into the dirt. I drop my sword in shock. Ariana is on top of me. Before I can react, she hits me in the head as hard as she can with her stick. My vision goes spotty for a moment as pain shoots through my body, but I don't let it stop me. She's pinned my wrist with her knees, but when I thrash under her, she loses her balance a little and I'm able to snake my arm out and grab my sword. Her eyes widen, but she doesn't have time to move before I've stabbed her in the chest.

District 1: Ariana Angel, Age 15

"ARIANA!"

"Go!" I scream at Blaze. "Win for me!" He hesitates for a split second, but when he sees what he's up against he quickly flees into the jungle. The other Careers chase after him, leaving me alone to die. I can only hope that he gets away.

I stare up at the leaves on the trees as my life is torn away from me. I can't believe I'm really dying. I'm never going to go back home and see my parents, or my friends, or Caleb, or Aquarius…

Stupid. I'm so stupid. Stupid for volunteering for the games in the first place. Stupid for agreeing to run away from the Careers with Blaze. Stupid for thinking I was good enough to take on Juno. I'm just so stupid…

"I'm so sorry," I whisper at the sky. I'm not even really sure what I'm sorry for. Maybe it's for letting down everyone I loved back in District 1. Maybe it's for killing Carline. Who cares, really? I just want the world to know how sorry I am. For everything.

I die with the thought of Aquarius smiling at me. I bet he's proud of me. Even though I didn't win, he'll always be proud.

District 4: Nemo Fisher, Age 18

"Dang it! He got away," Octavian growls, kicking the dirt. He and Juno walk over to where I'm leaning against a tree, breathing heavily. "You okay?" Octavian asks me, glancing at my leg.

"Yeah," I say, forcing myself to push off from the support of the tree. While we were fighting, Blaze gave me a nasty stab in my calf. It doesn't look fatal, but it hurts like crazy, and blood is oozing from the wound. When Blaze bolted, I tried to run after him with Octavian and Juno, but I didn't get very far.

"Alright, we should probably go back to camp early," Octavian said. "We need to treat Nemo's leg before it gets worse." I give a small sigh of relief. I doubt Octavian would have said that if anyone else in our alliance had gotten hurt. I guess maybe the 'inner-alliance' I proposed with him may pay off after all.

"Can you walk?" Juno asks. I take one step and immediately stagger forward. Juno scowls. She looks around for a moment before picking up two large sticks. "Okay, here," she says. "You can use these as crutches." I thank her, and the three of us begin to walk back to camp.

While we walk, we pass by the spot where Ariana died. Juno spits in the dead girl's face. "That's for betraying the Careers," she says, her voice full of contempt. Then she begins rifling through Ariana's supplies.

I look down at my former ally and feel a bit of sympathy. I don't blame her for abandoning us; the other Careers are all monsters. I think about the way Juno and Marine high-five after murdering a tribute, or the way Octavian brags about how many kills he's gotten, and I make a decision. I can't be with these horrible people any longer. I'm going to do what Ariana and Blaze did. I'm going to run away. I don't care about the pact we made, about sticking together until the final eight. I can't think of myself as a good person as long as I'm aligned with the Careers. So sometime soon, I'm going to run.

I glance ahead of me, making sure that Octavian and Juno aren't watching me, before kneeling down gingerly and closing Ariana's eyes. I figure I should try and give some respect for the dead.

Alright, that was that!

11th Place: Ariana Angel- Stabbed in the chest with a sword by Juno Armstrong, District 2 female

Oh, Ariana. I liked this girl a lot, and it was very fun to write for her. Unfortunately, I just couldn't see her winning. She was the youngest Career in the pack, which definitely gave her a big disadvantage. And when Blaze decided to leave, she was put into a lose-lose situation; if she had stayed, she would've had to explain why her district partner had just suddenly left with a big chunk of supplies, which would probably have ended badly for her; but when she went with Blaze, she instantly put a target on her back for the other Careers. I'm sure Ariana's family and friends will be devastated over her death, but hopefully they'll be able to recover. RIP, Ariana. She was the first Career to bite the dust. :(
