Chapter 2:

Sam got home a little after midnight and headed to bed after locking the door.

This foster home was a lot better than many of his others. Here he had a foster mom who was in her 50's and that was it. Normally he didn't like anything about these situations but this one gave him freedom to come and go as long as Sam didn't give her any trouble. Charlie had actually gotten Sam into this home. Charlie was a cop who took Sam in for stealing car parts and selling them. Sam told the truth and Charlie gave Sam a deal. Sam had to finish school and stay out of trouble and Charlie wouldn't arrest him. This was made easier when his father was arrested for murder and convicted. Sam was back in foster care. His sister Sarah was 22 and just a mess so he couldn't live with her. Normally you age out of foster care once you turned 18 but Charlie worked it out with this foster mom, who was a personal friend.

Mrs. Brenda only had a few rules.

She liked Sam home before midnight unless he told her he'd be out later.

She requested he keep tidy and just clean up any messes he makes.

She liked him to do some basic chores in exchange for a little money for gas or whatever and letting him drive her old truck.

Sam actually spent quite a bit of his first week here fixing the truck up. He was a city boy and was very good with tools and liked to keep his hands busy.

He also fixed things around the house that he saw. He had already changed 5 burnt out light bulbs, tightened the faucet in the kitchen, repaired the dining table leg and even offered to work on the noisy washer in the laundry room.

Sam had "asked" to go to the party tonight and was told to have a good time. He didn't think he would be out this late but he sure didn't know he was going to meet Andy McNally.

He stripped down to his boxers and got into his bed and thought about his night.

Mrs. Brenda had a decent room for him. It wasn't huge but it had enough room that he felt comfortable.

It had a comfortable full size bed, two nightstands with lamps, a small desk and chair, and a dresser. Then it had a closest with several hangers, not that he had a ton of clothes to hang up. She gave him a laundry basket he kept in the closet for his dirty clothes. Most of his things were in the dresser. The bathroom was down the hall between his room and a linen closest.

Sam had been here for two weeks. He checked in with Charlie a lot. Sarah would deposit money into Sam's account when she could not that he wanted her too. She was a waitress in a bar about an hour away. Otherwise all he had really done is go to school. He was actually finished with his required classes except for one so his schedule was filled with three electives and the one required class, chemistry, which made switching in January an acceptable option. Sam was pretty good in school. Sam had made two friends Oliver and Jerry but maybe a few more tonight.

Sam thought about Andy and how things had ended.

He offered her a ride home when Traci and Jerry had disappeared but she thanked him and texted Traci and 2 minutes later her and Jerry were back. She gave him her phone number and said he could call or text her. She seemed pretty amazing. Sam didn't usually fall like this but she was hot and beautiful in that girl next door way and she was funny and seemed smart. He was very attracted to her and if her blush told him anything she was attracted to him as well. He would have to look for her at school. He knew she had French with Jerry because it was mentioned during one of the games.

Thinking of the games made Sam smile. He liked playing. It wasn't his favorite thing ever but he liked getting to know his new friends better and Andy. He was pretty sure he would play just about anything if she was involved. The only concern for Sam was her father. Detective McNally would probably not like his daughter associating with a convicted murder's kid.

Sam sighed thinking that thought. He didn't want her to have any trouble with her family because of him. He just wanted to know her.

He drifted into a restless sleep dreaming of Andy's beautiful hair and those amazingly soft lips and that sexy body.
