Note: Sorry if I took so long to update this, I've just been busy with my other stories. As for the story itself, you might be thinking "Wow, Fox is a sexist jerk". Well, this version of the story is based on the King Kong movie from 1933, and Fox is Jack, so Fox is playing a jerk. However, that doesn't mean that he and Krystal won't be a couple, will it? Now, it's time for chapter three.

Chapter 3: The Island

"Sweet Corneria!" Captain Hare cried, "How am I supposed to steer the ship in this fog?!"

"We're near the island, so you shouldn't have to steer for long." Wolf said.

"If we don't see it when this fog clears up, we never will." Fox spoke, "We've never quartered these parts."

"No bottom at thirty fathoms!" A sailor who was a lynx called out.

"Of course the guy who made that map was guessing at the position." Fox nervously said.

"How will we know if it's the right island?" Krystal asked.

"The mountain that looks like a skull." Wolf answered.

"Oh," the cobalt vixen said, "I forgot that you told me that. Skull Mountain."

"Bottom! Twenty fathoms!" The lynx sailor shouted.

"Shallowing fast, Fox, dead slow." Captain Hare said.

Fox went to the communication device of the Angel, where he sent a message to the engine room. Back at the bridge, everyone was unable to see through the fog.

"Damn the fog!" Wolf growled.

"Sixteen fathoms!" The lynx sailor yelled.

"What does she draw, Skipper?" Wolf turned to Peppy.

"Six." The hare answered.

Everyone was straining their eyes, struggling to look through the fog.

"Listen!" Fox called, "Hear anything?"

"No." Wolf said.

"No." Krystal answered.

There was a slight pause until a robin in the crow's nest of the ship called out.

"Breakers ahead!" He cried.

Captain Hare jumped for the communicator.

"Ten fathoms!" The lynx sailor shouted.

The communicator let out a jingle before the noise of the engines reversing came on.

"Let go!" Wolf bellowed.

The chains of the anchor rattled prior to the metal weight splashing in the water. The communicator let out another jingle, allowing Fox to speak.

"That's not breakers." The vulpine said, "That's drums."

True to his word, there were drums rolling in the distance. After hearing it, the ship's crew started to lower boats. Back at the bridge, Captain Hare was looking at Corneria's skull through binoculars while Wolf, Fox, and Krystal were near him.

"Well, Skipper, see anybody?" Wolf asked.

"Not a living thing." Peppy answered, "I think that there are more houses in that thick bush."

"Funny how they haven't spotted us." The lupine filmmaker said, "I think that the whole population would be on the beach."

"Listen." Captain Hare said.

The four listened carefully, being met with the faint throbbing of drums.

"Maybe they have seen us and are signaling." Wolf suggested, "Well, Skipper, do you believe me now? There's Skull Mountain, the wall - everything just like my funny map. Come on, let's get started."

"Twelve men go with you." Captain Hare told him, "The rest stay aboard."

"Who's in charge of the gas bombs?" The lupine asked.

"Jimmy. That young feller." The hare pointed down to a gray hound on the deck.

"Good." The filmmaker said, "Leave the Second Mate aboard, Skipper. I need you, you might be able to talk to these birds ashore."

"I'm going ashore with you, aren't I?" Krystal asked.

"You bet." Wolf said.

"She ought not to go until we find out what goes on -" Fox spoke before being cut off.

"Say, who's running this show?" The lupine said in a good-natured tone, "I've learned by experience to keep my cast and cameras right with me. You can never tell when you want 'em."

"But it's crazy to risk -" Fox tried to speak again.

"Oh, go on, Pup." The filmmaker interrupted, "Get busy. Deal out the rifles and ammunition. And get me a couple of couple of huskies to carry my stuff."

Fox reluctantly walked off. Wolf shook his head over the vulpine, then Krystal.

"Bring the costume box." The lupine said, "We might get a great shot right away if we're lucky."

The boats went towards the beach, where the sound of the drums got louder. Wolf put his camera on a tripod, letting a sailor (who was a husky) shoulder it, another sailor, a pigeon, had a magazine case, a third sailor, a frog, had the costume box, two more sailors, a black bear and a cardinal, had trade-goods in boxes, and Jimmy had the case of gas bombs.

"You guys with the camera stay close to me." Wolf said, "Where's Jimmy with the gas bombs?"

"Here, sir." Jimmy answered.

"All right." The lupine said, "Stick around. And watch your step. There's enough trichloride in that case to put a herd of hippos to sleep."

"Aye Aye, sir." The gray hound said.

"What nice-looking boats." Krystal said.

"Canoes." Fox stated.

"Fox," Captain Hare instructed, "have two men stay with the boat."

"All attended to, sir." The vulpine said.

"Now, all set?" Wolf grinned, "Ready, Skipper?"

"Ready." Peppy came up to him.

The boats parked on the beach, allowing everyone to see the village where the wall was visible over roofs. The sound of the drums got louder.

"Not a soul in sight." Captain Hare said.

"That wall, Skipper!" Wolf spoke, "What do you say to that, eh?"

"Colossal!" The captain cried, "It might almost be from Sauria."

"But what's on the other side?" The lupine was curious, "That's what I want to know."

"Who do you suppose could have built it?" Krystal was awe-struck.

"Aw, I went up to Corneria's ancient ruins once." Fox was trying to not be impressed, "Those are bigger than this - and nobody knows who built it."

"Oh boy!" Wolf said, trying to strike his usual note, "What a chance! What a picture!"

Chanting came out of the village, which made everyone freeze in their tracks. Krystal then clutched Fox's arm in terror, being as frightened as the sailors. All of a sudden, the chanting died down to muttering. Wolf was the first to shake himself back to reality.

"Come on!" The lupine said as he led everyone into the village, with them walking behind him cautiously.

"Hear that?" The filmmaker said, "They're saying 'Klotz'! 'Klotz'!"

"I hope that you'll be able to speak their lingo, Skipper." Fox looked at Captain Hare.

"Can you catch any words yet?" Wolf asked.

"I'm not sure." Peppy said, "It sounds something like that Sauria language."

"What do you suppose is happening?" Krystal asked.

"Up to some of their heathen tricks." Fox said, "Now don't go rushing out to see."

"All right." The cobalt vixen said, "But isn't it exciting?"

"Sure." The orange vulpine stated, "I wish we left you on the ship."

"I'm so glad you didn't." The vixen smiled.

The group approached a masking house, stopping near it.

"Wait." Captain Hare said, "Easy row. Stay here until I see what goes on."

Everyone did so. However, Wolf cautiously looked around until something caught his eye. That something was an odd ceremony.

"Holy damn!" Wolf said, "What a show! Skipper, get a look at this!"

Captain Hare carefully approached him, taking a look at the ceremony as well.

"Did you ever see anything like that?" The lupine spoke, "If I can steal a shot before they see us -"

The filmmaker then turned towards the sailor who was holding the camera.

"Hey!" Wolf said, "You with the camera!"

The sailor approached him.

"I want to see." Krystal told Fox.

"Come on and look," Peppy told her, "but be careful."

Krystal looked around the house, seeing the ceremony itself. As for Wolf, he moved over and began setting up for the scene before him. The chanting got louder. That was until the Chief, a coyote, saw the group and shouted in his language.

"Too late," Wolf said, "they see us."

"Run for your lives!" Jimmy cried.

Before he could run, Fox grabbed him.

"Hold on there!" The vulpine growled, "What are you running for?"

"No use trying to hide now." Wolf said, "Everybody come out here in plain sight. Put up a bold front."

Fox, Krystal, and the sailors came towards Wolf and Captain Hare. As they did that, the Chief turned towards his villagers and spoke to two bobcats. These bobcats were some of the warriors of the island. The Chief and the warriors walked through the crowd, with the women moving out of the way. The group watched in tense silence as this happened.

"Say, let's get the hell out of here." The pigeon sailor said.

"Stand still, you fool!" Fox said to him.

The sailors fingered their rifles in utter nervousness. They felt that today was going to be their last.

"Steady, boys." Wolf said, not taking focus off of the Chief, "Don't get nervous."

Krystal held on to Fox's arm, with the orange vulpine putting his arm around the vixen without looking at her.

"Never let a native see you worried, boys." Fox said, "Bluff 'em."

The Chief stopped in his tracks, speaking his native language to the group in a harsh manner.

"Come on, Skipper," Wolf looked at Captain Hare, "make him a friendly speech."

Peppy slowly spoke the language the islanders spoke. The Chief sternly responded in the language as well.

"He understands you, Skipper! What's he saying?" Wolf spoke.

"He wants us to leave." Captain Hare said.

"Talk him out of it." The lupine said, "Ask him what is going on."

The captain did so, pointing down to a female coyote who was tied to two poles. The Chief and the natives then chanted. All the group could understand was "Klotz!"

"He says that the girl down there is the bride of Klotz." Peppy said.

"Great!" Wolf spoke, "Find out what they're going to do."

All of a sudden, a brown wolf ran towards the group, looking angry. He then spoke the language of the islanders to the Chief, who then looked at Captain Hare and said a single word.

"What's that?" Wolf asked.

"He must be the witch doctor." Peppy said, referring to the brown wolf, "He says that the ceremony is spoiled because we have seen it."

"Calm the old boy down." The filmmaker said.

Captain Hare looked at the Chief and repeated a word to him. In response, the Chief bellowed out a word, causing the warriors to advance towards the group.

"I don't like the looks of this, Wolf." Captain Hare said, "The women have cleared out. That's a bad sign."

The Chief saw Krystal, then turned to the natives while shouting. The islanders looked at the cobalt vixen and murmured.

"What's that?" Wolf asked.

"He says 'look at the blue woman.'" Peppy answered.

"Women with blue fur aren't common on Corneria." The lupine said.

The Chief continued to shout in his language.

"'A gift for Klotz!' He says" Captain Hare said.

The Chief then pointed down to the sacrificial victim while speaking.

"He's offering to trade us six of his girls for Krystal." The captain spoke.

Krystal gasped, struggling to smile. She didn't know what to feel.

"You got her into this, O'Donnell." Fox glared at Wolf.

Captain Hare spoke to the Chief, being met with the coyote growling menacingly. The warriors stepped forward, which caused the sailors to finger their rifles.

"I'm going to take her back to the ship." Fox said.

"We'd better all get out before they think to cut us off from the beach." Captain Hare said.

"I guess so." Wolf said, "But tell him we'll come back tomorrow to make friends."

The captain did so, speaking to the Chief. The coyote did not move, but he glared at them.

"Get going, Krystal." Wolf told Krystal, "Don't act scared. Everything's all right. Smile, Krys. Talk to Fox. Keep your chin up!"

Krystal smiled in spite of being afraid, doing what Wolf told her. She retreated to the Angel with Fox, being followed by the sailors, Captain Hare and Wolf. Despite being surrounded by all these people, the cobalt vixen didn't feel safe.

Later that night, Krystal spoke to Slippy on the hatch of the Angel.

"- and an enormous wall, Slippy," Krystal spoke, "all the way across that piece of land where we went ashore."

"What about the girl who was dressed in flowers?" Slippy asked.

"The poor thing," the cobalt vixen said, "she looked as though she was too frightened to feel frightened. You know?"

"Sacrifice." The toad nodded.

"The Chief said that she was the bride of Klotz." The vixen said, "Slippy, what do you suppose Klotz is?"

"My guess is that he's the island's god." The chef honestly stated.

Ignatz galloped past them.

"Oh, there's Ignatz!" Krystal cried, "He's broken loose again."

Slippy ran off in pursuit of the monkey as Krystal watched on, laughing. Fox entered the hatch, looking at the vixen.

"Why aren't you in bed?" He asked.

"I can't sleep." Krystal answered, "Those drums are making me nervous, I guess."

"I think Wolf's off his nut, taking you ashore today." The vulpine said.

"I was sort of scared there for a while." The cobalt vixen said.

"You weren't the only one." The First Mate stated.

"I wonder what we do next?" The actress asked.

"That's what's worrying me." Fox said, "O'Donnell is such a fool for taking risks like this. No telling what he'll ask you to do."

"After what he did for me, I'll do anything he wants." Krystal said.

"Don't talk like that." The orange vulpine said, "When it comes to getting a picture, he's crazy enough to try anything."

"I won't go back on him." The cobalt vixen stated.

"When I think what might have happened today," the older male said, "if anything happened to you."

"Then you wouldn't be bothered with a woman on board." The younger female laughed.

"Don't laugh, I'm scared for you." He said, "I'm sort of scared of you, too. I-I guess I love you."

The two foxes looked at each other, startled by what he said.

"Fox!" Krystal spoke, "You hate women!"

"I love you, Krystal." Fox said, "I don't suppose you don't like that about me, do you?"

Krystal looked at him, then took a step forward. Fox's arms went around her before they were interrupted by a familiar voice.

"Mr. McCloud!" Captain Hare called, "Are you on deck?"

"Yes sir." Fox responded.

"Please come here a minute." The captain called.

"Yes sir." The vulpine said.

"I'll wait here for you." Krystal said.

Fox kissed the vixen and reluctantly went off. Krystal couldn't help but smile. Unfortunately, this would not last, as the Witch Doctor grabbed her. The vixen couldn't scream as he lifted her over the rail, carrying her back to the beach.

Fox, Captain Hare, and Wolf were speaking over a chart table. The three were talking about their plans for tomorrow.

"While we're at it," Wolf spoke, "we might as well find out who Klotz is."

"He's their tribal legend," Captain Hare said, "their god, of course."

"You're planning to make a movie off of an urban legend?" Fox asked Wolf.

"How do you know Klotz is a myth?" The lupine spoke, "That wall wasn't built for fun."

The sound of drums came from the distance.

"It's after ten." Captain Hare looked at his watch.

"If only I could take pictures by firelight!" Wolf said.

Fox looked down at the deck, only to see that Krystal wasn't there.

"What is it, Fox?" Wolf asked.

"I was looking for Krystal." He said, "She's gone below, I guess."

"How about turning in for the night?" Wolf looked at Captain Hare.

"No, not for me." The captain said.

"I'll sit with you then." The lupine stated as Fox went off.

"I wish you'd take a star sight." Peppy said.

Fox got out the instruments, "Yes sir. I guess it's been a long time since the map-makers got a brand new island to put down."

"That's about it." Captain Hare made a marking on the chart, "We'll make it absolutely sure tomorrow noon."

Wolf yawned before looking at his watch.

"About midnight." The lupine spoke before looking towards the shore, "Hey, look at that."

"Torches going through the village." Captain Hare said.

Fox left the area, going down to the main deck.

"Looks like the night before election." Wolf said.

The noise of the drums increased.

"I wonder what's up." Peppy said.

Down on the main deck, Fox was speaking to Slippy.

"I haven't seen Krystal in an hour, maybe two." Slippy said.

"I guess she's in her cabin." Fox surmised.

The vulpine walked off, leaving Slippy by himself. The toad searched the deck until he saw something on the rail. It was a native bracelet. Realizing what had happened, the chef ran and shouted on the deck.

"ALL HANDS ON DECK EVERYBODY!" Slippy screamed, "ALL HANDS ON DECK!"

Everyone went to the bridge, where Slippy went towards Wolf and Captain Hare.

"I found this on deck!" The toad cried.

"A native bracelet!" Captain Hare said.

Fox came towards the group.

"What's the matter?" He asked.

"Slippy found this." Peppy showed him the bracelet, "Someone's been aboard the ship."

Slippy walked away.

"God!" Fox said, "Where's Krystal?"

"In her cabin -" Wolf tried to speak.

"No she isn't!" The vulpine cut him off, "I just looked."

He then ran off. The sailors were all confused.

"Everybody man the boats." Captain Hare told them, "Get your weapons and the gas bombs together."

The captain took out his weapon, a blaster, and put it in his pocket.

"The boats, Skipper?" Wolf looked at him, "Do you think -?"

"They might have stolen something." Captain Hare said.

The two looked at each other before they started to head out with the crew, realizing that they had to go on a rescue mission.

Note: In this story, Krystal does not have her telepathy. Why? She's playing an Ann Darrow role. Seeing as Ann didn't have powers, it probably isn't right to put Krystal in her shoes. I probably should have made Fara Ann. However, it's a fanfiction story, so you can write what you want. Also, I am eager to get this done before the end of the year. What did you guys think about this chapter? Let me know when you leave a review or give a constructive criticism. Until next time guys, peace!
