Chapter 2 The Power of a god
It's been about a month since Sean was sent by his father to protect and train Korra as the new Avatar.
Currently right now she was playing a game of hide and seek with her currently hiding in the snow to avoid him.
"Korra." Sean called out looking for her as he passed right by her making her giggle silently but he heard it making him grin slightly.
"Sean." Senna said approaching him. "Have you seen Korra? I can't find her anywhere." Senna before his eyes drifted to the lump of snow making her grin seeing what he was doing.
"Play along." Sean whispered. "No I can't find her anywhere." Sean said.
"Oh thats a shame. I made her favorite lunch." Senna said making Korra widen her eyes but refused to come out.
"Oh well if she's not gonna come out I guess I'll have it." Sean said before she jumped out.
"NO WAY!" Korra yelled before she realized she had been played making them both laugh while she pouted before Sean picked her up.
"Found you." Sean said.
"Thats cheating." Korra said making him chuckle.
"Oh calm down I already knew you were there now go get washed up." Sean said before she ran inside.
"She really looks up to you. Probably wants to be exactly like you." Senna said making him frown.
"I hope not." Sean said making her sad.
"We know exactly what happened in the past. Thats all it is in the past." Senna said making him smile sadly.
"I appreciate the words Senna...But theres a special place in hell for people like me. For the things I've done and the innocents I've killed." Sean said walking away making her sigh seeing the pain he felt was very deep.
Soon enough Korra was watching Sean go head to head with some of the best of the White Lotus.
Sean roared as he threw one into a wall knocking her out before kicking the other down before wrapping a chain around the last one before slamming them together knocking them out with ease.
"Wow!" Korra said in awe.
"Very impressive. Those are some of the best in the order and you took them down in less than a minute." The Leader of the White Lotus said.
"Years of practice and combat. Although no offense your standards for your members has gone down somewhat since the end of the hundred year war." Sean said.
"Maybe. But are they very skilled. In times of war it brings out true skill and purpose within benders. Since there hasn't been a war since then those types of Benders have decreased to a degree."
"I see. Unfortunately this is regretfully true. War brings out greatness in warriors. I would know." Sean said before Korra rushed to him.
"That was cool! Can you teach me?" Korra excited making him chuckle.
"It would be an excellent idea to start training her."
"She's still young. I want to enjoy her childhood first before she starts training to become the Avatar. Remember thats why Aang left before the war began because the Monks tried to force him to become the Avatar too soon." Sean said.
"I suppose but she's more eager than Aang was."
"Come on. Please?" Korra said with a puppy eye look making him smile.
"Ok fine. If you're that Eager to learn." Sean said making her cheer. "I swear she reminds me of..." Sean tried to say but stopped himself. "Never mind." Sean said.
Of course she had a Water Bending Master. Katara Aang's wife and former Water bending Master of Aang's.
Of course Korra ended up burying Katara in snow making Sean burst out laughing.
"How do you like that? A water bending master beaten by a little girl." Sean said laughing making her grin before doing the same to him. "YIKES!" Sean yelled getting buried in snow making Korra laugh before running to him.
"You were saying?" Korra asked making him grin before burying her in the snow. "AHHH!" Korra yelled trying to get free.
"Care to run your mouth now little Avatar?" Sean asked before pulling her up making her laugh.
Katara couldn't help but smile seeing the two. Like many here she had recently heard the stories about him and the tragic past he had.
"Those two." Tonraq said amused.
"I can definitely see Korra healing the wounds as time passes. It almost reminds me of when Aang and I were young as we helped him forgive himself for leaving the airbenders." Katara said before they saw a storm.
"Looks like we're gonna have to cut this short." Sean said.
"Aww." Korra whined before they went inside.
After a couple hours they could hear howling.
"Polar bear dogs?" Senna asked.
"A whole pack of them from the sounds of things." Tonraq said before Korra mimicked the howling making Sean chuckle before closing the door.
"But I wanna go play with them." Korra said.
"Oh play with a bunch of animals that are bigger than us that could gobble you up in one bite. I don't think so." Sean said amused making the parents laugh.
"I'm not afraid of them. You have a dragon thats bigger than a boat and he's friendly." Korra said.
Sean was about to retort but stopped when he thought about that. Technically thats true but only because Sean found him when he had just hatched from an egg and was the last of his kind with rare special abilities.
"Sorry Korra but he's right." Senna said making her pout before they got ready for bed.
Sean slept in a hammock before he heard the howling again making him raise an eyebrow before getting out and went outside quietly.
Walking outside he went to make sure the dogs didn't come to the house.
"Where are you going?"
Sean blinked before turning around seeing Korra in warmer clothes.
"You gotta be kidding me. How did you hear me?" Sean asked making her grin. Sighing Sean could only smile. "I swear you remind me of someone I knew when she was your age." Sean said.
"Who?" Korra asked.
"I'll tell you later. Since you're already out we might as well keep going." Sean said before they continued to walk.
Soon they came to the sight of a polar bear dog pup who had clearly been separated from the pack.
Korra however perked up before rushing to it.
"Korra!" Sean said following her as the pup growled.
"Your just a pup, Wheres your pack? Are you Lost?" Korra asked before it growled.
"Easy Korra. It's a wild animal." Sean said.
"I'm not gonna hurt you. I'm friendly." Korra said fishing through her jacket before she pulled out Fish Jerky making it sniff it before it ate the fish making Korra laugh. "Your not scary just hungry." Korra said making Sean smile lightly before laughing as Korra began running like a dog. (Incase don't know where this is from I got it from the comic where Naga and Korra first met)
However he quickly noticed the storm was getting worse.
"Uh oh. Which way is home?" Korra asked worried.
"Hang on." Sean said before using his magic to make a large mound for them. "Inside." Sean said getting them to do so before he sealed it. "This is not what I was planning to do. You should have stayed at home Korra." Sean said.
"Like you did?" Korra said grinning.
"Don't get smart with me little lady. I was making sure the rest of those animals didn't come close to the house. I didn't expect to find a pup." Sean said.
"Why'd they leave her?" Korra asked.
"How do you know it's a she?" Sean asked making her grin while he rolled his eyes. "Anyway It was probably an accident cause of the storm." Sean said before seeing she was shivering. "Cold?" Sean asked.
"Maybe I could fire bend." Korra said.
"Wait!" Sean said before it shot up startling her and the Pup who yelped.
"Sorry." Korra said sad.
"Korra. Being the Avatar isn't about fun. It's about a great responsibility something you have to realize now." Sean said making her sigh.
"I thought being the Avatar was fun but it's just a bunch of rules." Korra said before she felt her hand being licked by the Pup making her giggle. "That Tickles!" Korra laughed making Sean smile before holding them both close to keep them warm. "Do you think I'll be a good Avatar someday?" Korra asked making him smile.
"Korra I haven't the slightest doubt you'll do great things no Avatar has done since the the first." Sean said making her smile before she fell asleep.
Next morning
"KORRA!" Tonraq yelled.
After waking up both of them saw both Korra and Sean were missing.
"Oh where are they?" Senna asked really worried before the mound Sean made blew up making her yelp before Sean came out with Korra on his shoulders.
"Sorry about that. I went to make sure the dogs didn't come to close to the house and Korra followed me and we got trapped in the storm." Sean said making them sigh.
"Of course she did." Tonraq said making Korra grin.
"Plus...We had an unexpected rescue." Sean said before Korra went back in.
"Rescue?" Senna asked before Korra and the pup came out surprising them.
"This is Naga." Korra said.
"Naga?" Tonraq asked.
"She got separated from her pack. So she needs a new home. Can I keep her?" Korra asked making both parents look at each other.
"Ask you Father/Mother." Both parents said making Sean chuckle.
"Real smooth. Oh just let her keep the dog. Besides." Sean said seeing the two play together. "How you gonna separate that?" Sean asked making them smile. "It would be like someone asking me to get rid of Spyro and I've had him since he first hatched 300 years ago." Sean said.
"Oh I suppose." Senna said.
Days later
Sean was outside looking at the stars with Spyro next to him.
"A nice night to look at the stars." Katara said approaching him making him smile.
"It's one the few things that keeps me calm and forget the past." Sean said before Korra jumped him making him chuckle. "And heres the other." Sean said making Korra laugh.
"I've seen many star constellations in my day. They all are unique and very beautiful." Katara said.
"Do you know any?" Korra asked Sean who smiled.
"I do actually. You see that one up there?" Sean said pointing up to a formation of stars. "That is known as the Dragon constellation. But they aren't just made up of stars. It's made with the souls of the most honorable dragons." Sean said making Korra look up in awe. "When an honorable dragon dies his or her soul Ascend beyond the heavens and joins those stars. Many of which were like Spyro." Sean said making him snort before lying down.
"Wow." Korra said before Sean spotted someone entering Korra's home.
"Who's that?" Sean asked making her look.
"Oh dear. Thats Unalaq. Tonraq's younger brother and chief of the northern Water Tribe." Katara said having heard their history.
Frowning Sean placed Korra on Top of Spyro before Naga jumped up making her laugh.
"Stay right there for a few minutes...And I mean it this time." Sean said sternly making her nod before he went inside.
"Unalaq my mind is made up." Tonraq said sternly making his brother frown.
"You would deny her a teacher who could teach her what she must know?" Unalaq asked.
"Is it training for her or for your own benefit?" Sean asked walking in making his presence known.
"So...The rumor is true. The Gods did send a protector for Korra. Kruger I believe...Or...Should I call you the Ghost of..." Unalaq tried to say before Sean placed his blades on his neck making him gasp in shock at such speed.
"Do NOT call me that." Sean said threateningly making him sweat before he placed his blades down. "I don't know what game you think you're playing but Korra will not be getting any training from you. I can easily tell theres an agenda behind your training and I will no let you use her for your own gains." Sean said making him frown. "Begone. And do not come back...Or I'll kill you." Sean said before Unalaq left.
"I'm sorry about my brother. He's always been fascinated with the spirits." Tonraq said.
"I'll be making sure he stays far away from Korra. I do not trust him." Sean said before going back outside before seeing Spyro wrapping his tail around Korra as she fell asleep making him smile.
A week later
Once again Korra was hiding from Sean who looked around.
Thinking she was in the clear she stood up from the snow and grinned but.
"Boo." Sean said behind her making her yelp in shock while he laughed.
"No fair! You're cheating!" Korra yelled.
"How am I cheating? I got good sensory skills and your doing the same thing over and over again. Think of something different." Sean said making her pout making him laugh before picking her up and placed her on his shoulder. "Now come on Its almost nightfall." Sean said leading her inside.
While Korra was having dinner with her family Sean sat in his hammock before he suddenly received a vision of a large number of people coming here with dark intentions making him narrow his eyes before he got up and left.
"Where you going?" Tonraq asked before Sean motioned from him outside before they left.
"I just received a vision no doubt from Athena." Sean said.
"A vision of what?" Tonraq asked.
"A group of people are coming to take Korra away. I sense for dark intentions." Sean said making him frown.
"I'll get the White Lotus." Tonraq said.
"You do that...But keep them here. I'm gonna see if I can stop them before they get to the house." Sean said before rushing off.
Arriving at where he knew they would come he saw a large group of people. At least 25 in total making him narrow his eyes before they stopped in front of him.
"Who are you?" Sean asked keeping his guard up.
"That is none of your concern. We will have the Avatar. Now stand aside." The Leader said.
"I said who are you?" Sean asked again narrowing his eyes on them.
"My name is Zaheer. My friends are P'li, Ghazan and Ming-Hua. Who are you?" Zaheer asked.
"I'm Korra's protector." Sean said making one of them laugh before approaching him.
"This is the best the White Lotus could do. Hire one lousy man?" One member said arrogantly before getting in his face. "I'll bet I could easily..." He didn't get far as Sean grabbed him by the face and squeezed making him scream in pain before a sickening crunch was heard shocking the others before he was dropped and. Sean stepped on what remained.
"I am not just a mere bodyguard. I am the son of Zeus. King of the gods of Olympus who created these lands after the great war against the Titans. Leave now...Or suffer the consequences." Sean said.
(Insert Fury from King Kong Video game)
Ghazan was the first to attack using rocks which turned into lava before Sean dodged with ease before pulling out the blades of Chaos and attacked him but he dodged before two others attacked him only to get cut in half.
"Kill him! He's nothing but a false god!" One said before Sean's eyes glowed.
"Is that so?" Sean asked in a godly voice before he was surrounded by water before it began to take form into a person. (Poseidon's battle form in God of war 3)
Others yelled as Sean used the water to grab them before crushing them under great pressure.
"Though I may be the son of Zeus I was trained by all the gods for 300 years! You are nothing but bugs!" Sean yelled slamming his fists down.
P'li narrowed her eyes before using firebending with her mind to him in the center making him yell out in surprise.
"Aim for the chest! It's his weak spot!" Zaheer yelled.
Meanwhile
Tonraq and the others could sense the battle from far away.
"I don't like this." Tonraq said before Korra came out and felt the vibrations in the ground. Feeling very worried she started to run out till her father picked her up. "No Korra. You need to stay here."
"But..." Korra tried to say.
"Stay. Sean's dealing with something. Just be patient." Tonraq said while Korra looked worried.
Back to the action
Sean roared as he blasted several of his enemies with Water making them scream in shock before P'li and Ghazan hit him in the chest making him roar before he was forced out and landed on his back before his armor started to crack due to the force of the combined attack. Standing up his armor. began to fall off and growled.
"He's vulnerable! Finish him!" One yelled before the skies lit of with thunder before lightning flew down and killed most of them with ease.
Zaheer rushed in with a blade and began to attack him but he blocked it with his own blades with ease.
Doing this gave Ming the opportunity to use her water bending to attack him turning the water to sharp ice before it hit him making him growl in anger before dashing to her with insane speed before grabbing her arms and pulled making her cry out in pain.
"What are you doing!" Ming yelled in horror.
"This." Sean said before pulling them off making her shriek in horror as her arms were pulled off making her friends look in horror.
Ghazan roared in rage before trying to Lave bend him but he quickly dodged with ease before dashing at him and kneed him in the stomach making him gasp in shock before P'li hit him in the back making him grunt in pain as he started to bleed before punched Ghazan in the face hard knocking him out.
Only Zaheer and P'li were left.
"It's been 200 years since I've ever had to battle like this." Sean said before yelling in pain as he was hit from behind by Ming who despite not having arms still was using Water bending making him growl before he dashed to her and grabbed her face before slamming it into the ice knocking her out cold before Zaheer jumped on him and tried to stab him but Sean pulled him off before stepping on his face repeatedly before P'li hit him with her strongest blast yet making her smirk.
However she widened her eyes as he walked out of the smoke and despite the heavy bleeding was still alive before pulling out a thunder bolt and threw it at her making her scream in pain as she was electrocuted before passing out.
(End song)
Sighing he fell to his knees before using the last of his strength to use his magic to send them away to deal with later.
Getting up on shaky legs Sean walked back to the house.
Meanwhile
Tonraq had placed Korra with her mother as they waited.
"I say we send out a search party. It's been hours." The Leader of the White Lotus said.
Korra however spotted a figure heading towards them and gasped as she ran to it.
"Korra!" Senna yelled rushing after her.
When Korra reached the figure she gasped in fright. Sean stood before her covered in deep cuts and bleeding heavily from the damage he had received.
"Oh my." Senna said covering her mouth before Sean collapsed just as the others rushed to him while Korra began to cry seeing him like this.
3 days later
Sean slowly opened his eyes seeing he was in Korra's home before looking around before he felt something on his chest making him look before seeing Korra asleep on his chest making him smile. Placing a hand on her cheek she yawned before rubbing her eyes and looked at him and gasped in joy.
"YOUR AWAKE!" Korra yelled hugging him making him laugh.
"I'm not so easily beaten Korra." Sean said holding her close before the others walked in.
"Well, I see you're finally recovered." Katara said.
"Ah. I've had worse wounds than this. But those guys were very dangerous." Sean said sitting up as Korra sat on his lap.
"Yes your father warned us about these four. Recommended they be put in particular prisons that can contain them. Who were they?" Tonraq asked.
"Korra." Sean said as Katara took her away much to her annoyance. "The four I spared were Zaheer, P'li, Ming-Hue and Ghazan. The last three were very talented benders that actually did a lot of damage to me. Zaheer despite not being a bender was dangerous nonetheless. They said they were after Korra. Why though they never said. My only guess is they don't want the Avatar to become powerful and wanted to slow down the progress. Or...There was something else. All I know is your brother might have something to do with this." Sean said confusing him.
"My brother? I admit he's obsessed with Spirits but I doubt he would kidnap his own niece." Tonraq said.
"Then answer me this. A week after your brother left these guys showed up. Now how would they know to look here first?" Sean asked making him frown since he couldn't deny it. "The last time I ignored my instincts I paid the price. I am not gonna make that mistake again. Not for her sake." Sean said.
"Hmm. What do you want to do? All we have is coincidence and suspicion." Tonraq said.
"Keep him the hell away from her. The second I saw him it bugged me." Sean said before he got up and walked outside.
And thats when Korra jumped him making him laugh.
Despite the heavy injuries that while not life threatening to someone like him he would do it all over again just to protect someone who had become very important in his life for the first time in 300 years. And Korra when she got older would one day heal the wounds of his past and help him forgive his past actions.
Authors Note: And with that the lower Red Lotus members are dead and the strongest are in prison cells meant to contain them. And next Chapter is welcome to Republic City. I do have some special plans for this story in the future and escpailly during season 3 so be prepared cause I have no interest in losing my focus on this story since It might in time become just as good as a Savior sent by the gods.
