Chapter 3 Welcome to Republic City

It has been 13 years since Sean was tasked by his father Lord Zeus to Guard and protect Korra with his life and since the day that Zaheer and his comrades attempted to capture Korra. The reason Sean kept them alive was so he could find out what their goals were and to see if Unalaq was involved. Sadly none of them would budge on what their objective was but nonetheless Sean made sure Korra's uncle would never see her.

So for the last 13 years he had protected Korra and trained her as an honorable warrior while the White Lotus taught her the three bending arts of Water, Earth and Fire.

Apparently Korra had some problems when it came to Airbending which frustrated her greatly but Sean calmed her down saying she would get it in time.

As for for the two themselves Korra had become close to Sean since she turned 13 having feelings for him since he was there for her at every turn. He taught her to protect herself and still made sure she could enjoy her life despite the amount of training she had to go through. However she began to see past his kind actions and saw something she never saw. Pain, Regret, Betrayal, Sadness and loneliness. Ever since she saw it she tried to learn more about his past but no one would say anything other than he had a complicated past.

Now however Korra was going up against Expert Fire Benders as part of her test.

From the sides Sean watched with a grin seeing how well and in control she was after years of the training her drilled into her.

And she launched the last one up onto the roof.

"And what a surprise they sucked." Sean said chuckling.

"Whoo-Hoo!" Korra cheered making him roll his eyes while the White Lotus frowned. "Hey, why all the doom and gloom, people? We should be celebrating. Three elements down, one to go." Korra said

"Your getting ahead of yourself as usual, Korra. We haven't decided if you passed your firebending test yet." Her fire bending teacher said.

"Ever since you were a little girl and with Sean's help you've excelled at the physical side of bending but completely ignored the spiritual side. The Avatar must master Both." The Leader of the White Lotus said before Sean placed his hands on Korra shoulders.

"Come on now. No Avatar is perfect. Each one is very unique and different compared to the last and not just by nation. She may be a little slow on the spiritual side but in time she will learn it." Sean said making her grin at the praise.

"Do you believe she is ready, Master Katara?"

"Yes. If anyone can teach her what she needs to learn, It's Tenzin." Katara said about her son.

"Very well, Korra. It's time for you to begin your airbending training."

"YES! Finally!" Korra cheered before noticing their looks while Katara smiled.

"Real smooth." Sean teased making her frown before punching him in the shoulder making him laugh before they walked away to the kennel where Naga was now full grown.

"Naga, you should have seen it. I kicked some firebender butt, and I passed." Korra said as her dog cuddled with her.

"Oh jeez I wonder who taught you to fight with form and not randomness." Sean teased making her grin before hugging him.

"Yes, thank you, Master." Korra teased.

"Don't do that." Sean said making her laugh.

Riding on Naga they arrived at a cliff before looking out at the sea.

"You've come a long way from the little shrimp who would hide in the snow." Sean said making her giggle.

"I had good teachers and a really good protector." Korra said making him smile. "Sean...Can I ask you something?" Korra asked a little hesitant.

"Of course." Sean said.

"What exactly happened 300 years ago?" Korra asked making him frown before facing her.

"You notice haven't you?" Sean asked.

"The sad look in your eyes. Yeah." Korra said making him sigh.

"Korra...When I was your age I made some real dumb and selfish choices. And it cost me everything I cared about. I ruined lives...I hurt innocents...I did things you probably would think I could never do. Then one day...something happened that made me regret everything I had done. The day I lost everything." Sean said sadly.

"What happened?" Korra asked.

"I'll tell you when I'm ready. Some memories are more painful to talk about than to remember." Sean said holding her close making her nod and just enjoyed the moment.

Days later

Sean and Korra spotted Tenzin arriving on his Sky Bison Oogi before he landed.

"Excited?" Sean asked.

"Like you wouldn't believe." Korra said before seeing Tenzin's kids Jinora, Ikki and Meelo but they laughed seeing Meelo pulling on Tenzin's ears.

"Mother...Help me." Tenzin begged making her laugh as she picked up her grandson.

"UNHAND ME STRANGE WOMAN!" Meelo yelled.

"Thats your grandmother, Meelo." Tenzin said before Meelo jumped away before landing in front of Sean and Korra making him look up at Sean.

"What?" Sean asked.

"Your huge!" Meelo said making him chuckle lightly.

"Why is it a lot of kids say that?" Sean asked making Korra giggle.

Tenzin was helping his wife down and they saw she was pregnant for a fourth time.

"I'm not helpless. Just Pregnant." Pema said before Katara placed her hand on her large stomach.

"The baby's strong. I sense another airbender in your future making her sigh.

"All I want is one child like me, A nice, non-bender who doesn't blast wind in my face every five seconds." Pema said making Sean snicker.

"Good luck with that." Sean said making Korra giggle.

"Mommy, look. I'm a snow bender!" Meelo said airbending the snow getting some on her making Sean chuckle before she shook it off.

"Were Tenzin and his siblings this crazy when they were kids?" Pema asked.

"Kya and Bumi certainly were. But Tenzin has always been rather serious." Katara said remembering his childhood.

"Mother, please." Tenzin said before looking behind her seeing Korra and Sean. "Korra?" Tenzin asked making her smile as she approached them. "Look at you. So big and strong. You've grown into quite the young Avatar." Tenzin said.

"If only you knew." Sean said placing his hand on her shoulder making her smile.

"Master Tenzin, I'm so glad. you're here. I can't wait to get started." Korra said.

"Yes, well..." Tenzin trailed off.

"Your gonna have to tell her eventually." Pema said.

"Tell me what?" Korra asked.

"You're not staying are you?" Katara asked.

"I'm afraid not. We're only staying for the night. Then I have to return to Republic city." Tenzin said.

"But, no, You're supposed to move here. You're supposed to teach me." Korra said.

"I'm sorry, Korra. Your airbending training is going to have to wait." Tenzin said.

Later

Everyone was at the table eating.

"So how long until you're ready to teach me airbending? A week? A month?" Korra asked.

"It could be much longer." Tenzin said.

"I don't understand. Why are you making me wait?" Korra asked.

"I have a responsibility to Republic City. I'm one of its leaders. The Situation there is very unstable." Tenzin said.

"But you also have a responsibility to teach her since you are the only airbender left since your father passed 17 years ago." Sean said making Korra nod.

"I know and I hate putting it off like this but I have a more important responsibility." Tenzin said.

"So...Then just take us with you to Republic city and you can do both." Korra said making the Leader of the Lotus scoff.

"Absolutely not. The city is far too dangerous."

"Then why is he here?" Korra asked pointing to Sean.

"She's got a point. I can easily protect her in Republic city while Tenzin teaches her airbending and does his job." Sean said.

"I'm sorry but I can't." Tenzin said.

Korra was about to argue but Sean stopped her.

"Lets talk outside for a minute." Sean said leading her outside.

"It's not fair. He's supposed to be teaching me and the idea was perfect." Korra said.

"Well, Katara always said he's stubborn. On one hand I understand what he's going through. A leader must make difficult choices for the people. On the other I also agree he has a responsibility to teach you." Sean said.

"So what am I gonna do?" Korra asked before he placed his hands on her shoulders.

"That is up to you." Sean said.

Soon enough Tenzin and his family left.

From the cliff Korra and Sean saw them leave before she frowned.

"I'm not gonna wait." Korra said.

"No I didn't think you would. I assume you're gonna try to hitch a ride on a transport boat?" Sean asked making her grin.

"You know me so well." Korra said making him smirk.

Later that night

Korra was getting her things and got Naga's gear.

"Remember we have to be quiet." Sean said.

"I'm not stupid." Korra said grinning.

"Says the girl who followed me into a storm 13 years ago." Sean said making her smirk.

"Nice night for an escape, isn't it?" Katara asked making Korra freeze before they turned seeing a smiling Katara.

"I have to leave. I have to find my own path as the Avatar." Korra said making her nod.

"I know you do." Katara said making her smile. "Aang's time has passed. My brother and many of my friends are gone. It's time for you and your generation to take on the responsibility of keeping peace and balance in the world. And I think you're gonna be a great Avatar." Katara said before hugging Korra.

"Thank you." Korra said making Sean smile.

"Good-bye, Korra." Katara said.

Soon the two made a hole before escaping out the compound.

"Hey wait what about Spyro?" Korra asked before said dragon appeared on Sean's shoulder in a small form. "Uh?" Korra tried to say.

"Special abilities remember?" Sean said amused making her smile before they went to her parents.

"Mom, Dad, I'll miss you." Korra said while Sean leaned against Naga.

"We love you so much." Senna said before Korra walked to Sean with a sad look before he placed a hand on her shoulder.

"Don't worry. You'll see them again soon." Sean said making her smile before they got on Naga and left.

The three were now on a transport boat heading for Republic city. As they waited Korra placed her head on Sean's chest as she slept making him smile softly before Spyro appeared on his shoulder before snorting in amusement.

"Don't give that fucking look lizard breath." Sean said Annoyed.

Next morning

Sean woke up with a groan feeling a pain in his neck.

"No offense Naga you are not a good pillow." Sean said cracking it before Korra yawned as she stretched before the doors opened up.

"We're here!" Korra yelled before they got on Naga and bolted. "Thanks for the ride." Korra said.

"Oh sure make us look even more like Stowaways." Sean teased making her laugh before they saw the city.

"Wow. Look at this place." Korra said amazed.

"Not bad." Sean said seeing the airships.

"I've never seen so many Sato-Mobiles." Korra said in awe.

"Hey." Sean said looking forward seeing Aang's statue right next to Airtemple island.

"Thats where Tenzin lives. You ready for a little swim, girl?" Korra asked Naga before she sniffed the air and bolted. "Okay, okay! Food first, than Air temple...WATCH IT, NAGA! LOOK OUT!" Korra yelled as they ran past some cars before into a crowd of people.

"Uh I just realized something...Did we bring any money?" Sean asked making Korra freeze as did Naga.

"Oh man." Korra said hanging her head down seeing that would complicate things.

"Hmm." Sean said looking around before spotting a park with a pond. "There. We can fish there." Sean said making her nod before rushing off.

Soon the two were on the shore with three fish while Naga ate out of the water.

"Have you ever been here before?" Korra asked.

"No. I've been watching you for 13 years remember?" Sean said.

"But I remember there was a time you were gone for 3 days." Korra said.

"Oh that. I had to take care of some things on Olympus. Mostly getting all my weapons so Ares couldn't get them." Sean said with venom in his voice when he said Ares name.

"You two have some serious issues." Korra said.

"For good reasons." Sean said about to eat his fish when he spotted someone in the bushes which Korra noticed and gasped in fright.

"Say can I have one of them fishies?" He asked.

"Oh, uh, Yeah, Sure." Korra said before he took one. "So...Do you live in that bush?" Korra asked.

"Not everyone lives the life of Luxury, Korra. Some people are less fortunate than others." Sean said.

"Ah it's no big deal." He said before a whistle went off making them look seeing an officer.

"HEY! YOU CAN'T FISH HERE!"

"And we're out!" Sean yelled as they got on Naga and ran off.

"What the hell was that about?" Korra asked confused.

"I guess this place has some rules." Sean said before they came to some kind of protect.

"Are you tired. of living under the tyranny of benders? Then join the Equalists. For too long, the bending elite of this city have forced non-benders to live as lower-class citizens. Join Amon, and together we will tear down the bending establishment." The Peasant said. (Thats what I call him)

"What are you talking about? Bending is the coolest thing in the world." Korra said.

"Oh, yeah? Let me guess. You're a bender."

"Way to state the fucking obvious peasant." Sean said getting some to laugh at the name while he looked annoyed and Korra snickered.

"I bet you'd both just love to knock me off this platform with your bending, Huh?" The Peasant said.

"I could. He doesn't have bending." Korra said before Sean got off and approached him.

"Let me guess? She treats you like a slave...AHHHHH!" The peasant yelled as Sean threw the table in the air and him as well before he landed in the water.

"Dumbass." Sean said before getting back on Naga before they took off again.

"I think we're lost." Korra said as they traveled down the street.

"Wheres a map when you need one?" Sean asked before they spotted some shop owner being shaken down by some thugs.

"Give us the money or else..."

"Or else what?" Sean asked making them turn and saw the two before laughing at them.

"Since you're both clearly fresh off the boat, Let me explain a couple things. You're in triple threat triad territory, and we're about to put you in the hospital." The Leader said before Sean's blade went through his head making the other two gasp in shock before it came back to Sean's hand.

"I'll take care of this." Sean said before one tried to Earth bend only for Sean to grab his face before crushing it with ease before the last one ran in fear only to gasp in shock as Sean's blade went right through him with ease before coming back to his hand.

"I know you have no issues killing but that was brutal." Korra said a little disturbed.

"Some habits of mine are difficult to get rid of." Sean said before Metal wrapped around him.

Both turned and saw the police.

"You both are under arrest." One said.

"Oh fuck." Sean said annoyed.

Soon both of them were at the police station and Sean was being interrogated by none other than Lin Beifong while Korra was in a separate room.

"I guess some habits of yours are difficult to stop. But then again what else should I expect from a murderer." Lin said glaring at him making him roll his eyes.

"Let me guess. You know my history." Sean said.

"Oh you got that right. And I got more than enough to put you on the Death Penalty for this." Lin said.

"Ok." Sean said standing up and broke out of his restraints making her frown.

"Sit down!" Lin yelled.

"No. I made mistakes in my past sure. But I'm not that person anymore...Not since that day. You can clearly hate me for something I did in my younger years but I am not that person anymore." Sean said before Tenzin walked in.

"Lin thats enough." Tenzin said making Lin glare at Sean who glared right back.

"This isn't over." Lin said.

"Piss off." Sean said before he went outside before Korra rushed to him.

"You ok?" Korra asked.

"I'm fine. Apparently The Chief hates my guts for my past." Sean said.

"Oh." Korra said before Tenzin frowned at them.

"Don't send us back." Korra said.

"You blatantly disobeyed my wishes and the orders of the White Lotus." Tenzin said.

"Katara agreed with me I should come. She said my destiny is in Republic city." Korra said.

"DON'T BRING MY MOTHER INTO THIS!" Tenzin yelled annoyed with a red face. (This made me laugh like hell)

"Tenzin you can't keep putting off her training. How is she gonna be a good Avatar if she's locked away her whole life?" Sean asked.

"We saw a lot of this today, and it's totally out of whack. I understand now why you need to stay. Republic City. does need you, but it needs me too." Korra said making him sigh when.

"Is this your polar bear dog miss?" A man asked before she licked him and his hair stood up making Sean snicker while Korra laughed.

Soon the four were on a ferry heading to air temple island to head back to the South pole before Tenzin looked at the statue of his father with a sad look before turning to Korra who leaned into Sean as he wrapped an arm around her to comfort her.

When they arrived the White Lotus was there making Korra sigh as they were about to head on before Tenzin's children landed right in front of them.

"Korra!" They yelled before hugging her making her smile.

"Are you staying on the island with us?" Ikki asked.

"No. I'm sorry, Ikki. We have to go." Korra said.

"Aw." Ikki said before they walked to the White Lotus.

"Wait." Tenzin said stopping them. "I have done my best to guide Republic City towards the dream my father had for it. But you are right. It has fallen out of balance since he passed. I thought I should put off your training in order to uphold his legacy, but you are his legacy. You may stay and train airbending here with me." Tenzin said making her smile.

"Yes! Thank you. You're the best." Korra said as the kids cheered before she pulled them and Tenzin into a large hug making Sean chuckle.

Next day

Sean looked to the stars looking at the Dragon constellation with Spyro at his normal size.

"Hey." Korra said sitting next to him. "Sean?" Korra said.

"Yes?" Sean asked.

"Thanks for coming with me. It really means a lot." Korra said smiling at him making him smile back.

"Korra do you remember what I said when we first found Naga?" Sean asked.

"You said I would be a great avatar like the first." Korra said.

"I still believe that. Without question." Sean said making her smile before placing her head on his shoulder.

Meanwhile

In a secrete location a group of people heard the Avatar and her protector were in Republic City.

"Amon...How do you want to handle this?"

"So The Avatar and her protector have arrived early. It looks like we'll have to accelerate our plans." A man with a mask known as Amon said.
