Note: Everything is going to go to Hell in this chapter, so get ready for various deaths. I hope that you guys are okay with bloody corpses. Now, let's let chapter five arrive.
Chapter 5: Dangers of Corneria's Skull
The raft pushed through the fog as the group guided it through the stream.
"Easy now," Wolf said, "keep her against the current."
"Keep your weight in the center, boys." Fox directed, "Weight in the center."
The husky soldier stopping poling and saw something, "Holy mackerel, look at that!"
Everyone looked up and saw a dinosaur staring at them. The men went into a panic as the massive lizard approached them. They then shoved each other off the raft, which made them easy prey for the monster that was about to eat them. The dinosaur then dived and approached the raft. The beast then shot its head up, which caused everyone to fall into the stream. A sailor drowned while another let the bombs sink to the bottom.
The rest of the men ran out of the water and onto the bank with the dinosaur in hot pursuit. With the fog out, it made it hard for anyone to actually get away from the beast. Tim ran towards the jungle, leaving the others to deal with their attacker. The rest of the group ran out of the fog before running left to right, followed by the beast. Tim ran into the jungle while the others climbed a bank. Unfortunately, the sailor was being followed by the dinosaur. As the group climbed higher on the bank, they heard the screams of the sailor they left behind.
"It's Tim he's after." The husky sailor said.
The group saw the dinosaur approach Tim, who was loudly screaming. Everyone stared at this, horrified.
"Hasn't anybody got a blaster or rifle?" Wolf asked.
Everyone looked at each other, finding that they had no weapons.
"They're all at the bottom of the lake." Fox said.
"Then give me one of those bombs." The lupine said to Jimmy.
"I had to let them go to keep from drowning." The gray hound said.
"You fool." The filmmaker growled.
"You lost your gun." The sailor said.
The dinosaur came up to Tim, causing him to scream louder than he did prior. However, his screams stopped when the beast bit down on him. The group looked sickened, knowing that the sailor suffered a horrible death. The dinosaur then carried his dead body into the jungle. Now that that was over, they turned away, led by Wolf.
Klotz was retreating towards them with Krystal (who was unconscious) in his hand into a mire. The giant ape was far from them, but the group had no time to spare.
"Down! Down!" Fox said to the men.
Everyone threw themselves behind shrubbery.
"If only we had some of those bombs!" Wolf said.
A fight then broke out between Klotz and the three-horned beasts. The huge ape then hurled boulders down at the beasts, which killed only two of them. The third retreated, as if surrendering for now. After the battle, the group got out of the shrubbery. Upon seeing them, the three-horned beast charged towards them. Everyone ran out, with the beast following them. As they ran, they had to run under a low-hanging branch.
A sailor, who was a gray parrot in striped trousers, was the last to try and go under the branch. However, he hit his head on it, falling down. However, he managed to pick himself up.
"Boys?" The sailor asked, somewhat dazed, "Boys, where are you?"
Upon seeing the beast charging towards him, the sailor shrieked and ran off. However, the beast wasn't letting its prey go. As the striped-trousers sailor ran through the woods, he took refuge behind a tree. Unfortunately, this would prove to be the parrot's undoing, as the three-horned beast knocked the tree down and pinned him. The monster gored him to death, leaving behind a mangled corpse. The sailor died a particularly awful death.
The remaining men ran towards a deep ravine, where a huge tree fell over. They saw Klotz crossing the log with Krystal. The group ran from left to right, stopping when they saw the massive gorilla. They then turned around to see a two-horned beast. The monster was sniffing the ground, having sensed the men. It then ran towards them, causing them to run out. However, they ran back in, led by Fox.
Waving them on, Fox led them past a huge tree and towards the log. The men followed him, shouting. However, Klotz heard their shouts. Angered that someone was trying to take his Bride away from him, the giant gorilla placed Krystal on top of a dead tree and snarled, intent on killing the group. The ape then went towards the ravine.
Fox led the men up the log, allowing them to walk across it. They had to be careful, as one careless step would have caused one of them to fall to his death. They eventually came off the log and onto the bank. Wolf was about to cross the log until he saw something. Shouting, he got everyone's attention. What he saw was Klotz, who snarled at them.
Wolf ducked into the shrubbery, out of sight. The men also saw Klotz and ran back across the log. As they did that, Fox climbed over the bank. The group were about to come off the log, only to be stopped by the two-horned beast. The rest of the men rushed across the log while Fox climbed down over the bank, using a vine for support. He then entered a cave in the side of the bank that was some ten feet below the top.
Fox watched helplessly as the men ran back on the log, with Klotz menacing them as he came up to it. Much to Fox's horror, the giant gorilla began to rock the log, which terrified the men who were on it as he roared. Two of the sailors fell off the log, falling down to the ravine and landing in the mud. The rest of the group struggled to stay on, clinging to the log as Klotz shook it. From the other side, the two-horned beast menaced them with its horns. Another sailor fell to his death, landing in the mud.
Klotz continued to rock the log, with the men looking horrified as they struggled to stay on. Wolf was also horrified as he watched through the shrubbery. Both the massive ape and the two-horned beast attacked the log, causing more men to fall to their deaths. Klotz then roared at the men, beating his chest. One of the sailors shrieked in terror, which made Klotz try to grab at him. Luckily, the sailor managed to dodge his grasp. However, this did not stop the gorilla from shaking the log once more.
Without warning, Klotz lifted the log, which caused the remaining men to fall to the ravine. The ape looked down at the men who had fallen. However, some of the men turned out to be okay, only to be attacked by massive insects. These insects ate the survivors, leaving nothing behind. Fox watched in horror, only to be sensed by Klotz. The vulpine looked up, wearily watching for the massive ape.
Upon seeing the vine shake, Fox saw a giant spider coming up the vine. With no time to spare, the First Mate got out his knife and sliced the vine, causing the spider to fall to the bottom of the ravine. Klotz then reached into the cave, trying to get Fox. However, the vulpine eluded the beast's hand, stabbing at it. Wolf watched as Fox did this, albeit in utter awe. The vulpine succeeded in stabbing Klotz's hand, causing the gorilla to lick his hand and snarl angrily.
Krystal woke up, having fainted earlier. Somewhat dazed, the cobalt vixen looked down to see a snake crawling along beside her. She then gasped in terror. Her captor, on the other hand, was trying to reach down for something. This was something Krystal was absolutely frightened of. She knew that there would be dangers on the island, but she wasn't expecting to get carried off by a huge gorilla. It was only a matter of time before someone saved her.
A meat-eater, which looked like a T. Rex, approached Krystal on the tree. Terrified for her life, the vixen screamed, which got Klotz's attention. Knowing that his Bride was in danger, the huge ape stopped reaching for Fox and ran towards the meat-eater. He then engaged the threat in a battle as Krystal watched. The ape managed to beat the monster, saving his Bride. However, the cobalt vixen was astonished by the fact her captor saved her life.
After beating his chest in defiance, Klotz continued to fight the meat-eater. However, the dinosaur threw the ape at the tree Krystal was on, which caused it to fall. The cobalt vixen screamed as this happened, with the tree pinning her down. She then watched in horror as Klotz brutally killed the meat-eater, breaking its jaws before wiggling it to make sure. Pounding his chest with a triumphant roar, the giant gorilla moved towards the log to get Krystal. The vixen screamed, hoping that someone would hear her.
Krystal continued to scream as Klotz lifted the log and reached towards her. Picking the vixen up, the giant gorilla looked down at her with interest in his eyes. In response, Krystal looked up at him in fear. She was hoping that the beast wouldn't hurt her. However, he didn't look like he was going to hurt her. Klotz then walked off with Krystal, with the vixen still fearful of him.
Wolf cautiously exited the shrubbery, moving towards the edge of the ravine where the sailors got killed. Horrified at what he saw below, he then looked across to see Fox exiting the cave. The vulpine then climbed up the vines to the top of the ravine. Wolf felt the urge to call him, but he had to be cautious. When Fox climbed to the top of the bank, he heard someone call him.
"Fox - Fox McCloud." Wolf softly called for him.
Somewhat startled, Fox turned around and saw Wolf.
"Hey Fox." The lupine greeted.
"It didn't get you, huh?" The vulpine asked in annoyance.
"I got to cover, same as you." The filmmaker said while looking around, "I guess we're safe now."
"Safe like a cow in the stockyards." The First Mate looked down the ravine, "There's only two of us left alive to save the girl."
"I can't get across now."
"I don't want you to. You got to go back to get some more of those birds."
"You wouldn't follow that beast alone, would you?"
"Someone's got to keep on his trail while it's hot." Fox said, "Maybe I'll get a chance to snake Krystal away, and if I don't, I'll figure out a way to signal your party where he's taken her."
"I guess that's the only out." Wolf said.
"Sure it is." The vulpine stated, "Get going now and don't get croaked until you give the office to Peppy."
"Okay, Fox." The lupine waved back as he walked into the shrubbery, "Good luck."
"See you later ... maybe." The First Mate said as he ran off, on his way to save Krystal.
Note: Interesting story, isn't it? Let's just hope that Fox is able to save Krystal. Also, we can all hope for the best in the rest of the story. What did you guys think about this chapter?
