Kairi waved goodbye to the gummi ship as it flew off. Training had been relentless today. Master Aqua had started teaching Kairi more advanced keyblade techniques, upon her request, and it was exhausting, but she went through with it anyway if it meant being a step closer to helping Riku in saving Sora.
Now, she was back on the beaches of Destiny Islands, ready for some well earned rest. As she turned toward the town, her eyes drifted off to what looked like a small yellow car of some kind.
That was strange? Destiny Islands was small enough that the people didn't need cars, whats one doing right here. Deciding it wasn't any of her business, Kairi entered the town.
First thing she did upon entering her house was head straight to her room to collapse onto her bed. Anything else could wait for tomorrow. With that she fell asleep.
Upon awaking, Kairi went though a change of cloths, had a shower, and ate breakfast with her mother and father. Upon finishing, she waved goodbye to her family and headed off for another day of training. Heading to the beach to get picked up again, Kairi spotted the car again. Now that she could see it clearer, it wasn't parked on anyones property. Why was it there than?
Deciding it couldn't hurt to take a closer look, Kairi slowly approached the car. from the sound of it some flys had already decided to make it home with all the buzzing going around. Looking around, the car was very... round. It was like a beetle or something of the sort. Some rust aside, everything looked alright. Deciding it couldn't hurt, Kairi attempted to open the drivers side door. It was unlocked, allowing Kairi access inside of the vehicle.
Dust aside, the inside didn't look too bad.
"This must have been brought here during the year I was asleep." Kairi says to herself. She sits in the drivers seat as she wipes some dust off of the centre of the steering wheel, revealing a strange symbol. After that, she noticed the keys were still in the ignition. Whoever owned this sure wasn't responsible. She or anyone could take this whenever they wanted. Luckily for whoever it was, Destiny Islands is a small place and not many people are trouble makers of any sort.
Turning to the console in the middle of the car, Kairi spotted what looked like the radio. Checking to make sure no one was around to both not disturb them and incase the owner came along to get her out of the car, Kairi turned on the radio once she determined no one was around. The radio came on, a bit to quiet. Raising the volume a little bit, the radio emitted nothing but static. There was a radio station on Destiny Islands, it was the most technology the islands had, so had to pick that up right?
Maybe, but Kairi didn't know much about radios to be conclusive about it. Maybe it was just simply broken. Then the buzzing made its way into the car. Upon closer inspection, it wasn't made by a fly but by a bee.
'Best get out of its way',Kairi thought as she hastily exited the vehicle. 'Maybe my parents know how it came here and why it IS here.' She thought as she closed the door. For now, none of that was her concern. Right now she should focus on her training so she can join Riku in saving Sora.
Unknown to her, Kairi had accidentally left the radio on. It picked up a signal, though not the Destiny Islands radio station. This signal did not even come from Destiny Islands.
"No.." Someone weakly said through the device.
"Thats B-127s signal." A different voice said.
"Can you trace it?" Another voice asked.
"There appears to be a dampening field where ever he is." The second voice explains. "With the right equipment, it won't be a problem."
"So can I kill him?" The third voice asked, referring to the first voice.
"No. We need B-127s signal alive." The second explains. "Get him to Decepticon HQ in Kaon. Quickly!"
Today was just practicing what had been learned yesterday, so it wasn't as taxing on Kairi's energy as it was that day, though it was still exhausting.
As soon as Kairi exited her ride, she was met with another of the islands sunsets. Taking a moment to stare, at it after the gummy ship left, she found it didn't feel as special with out Sora or Riku. Hopefully she wouldn't have to watch them alone much longer. Turning back to see the town she spies the car again. It really did look out of place amongst the town she had grown up in.
Upon getting home she finds the strength to sit down for supper with out falling asleep.
"Your father is away on business." Kairi's mother explains as she eats with her adopted daughter. "I'm glad you can eat dinner with me tonight."
"Yeah. Sorry about yesterday. I was really worn out." Kairi explains.
"I understand... hows the training going?" Kairi's mother asks. The hesitation. Her parents weren't fully on board with Kairi's desire to be what is essentially a warrior, though they knew how stubborn their daughter was when she had her heart set on something, so they supported her in her decision to continue her training.
"Its going well, just... its going a little slow." Kairi explains.
"Well, its only the second day." Her mother reasons. "I'm sure no one would be able to get it all by weeks end."
"I know. I just... want things to get back to normal as soon as possible." Kairi explains. There is an uncomfortable silence for the next few minutes before Kairi remembers about the car. "Mom, there is this car parked near the beach. Do you know why its here or who owns it?"
Smiling at the topic change, her mother responds. "It just appeared a few months ago. Your father had been asking around at the time but it didn't seem to belong to anyone here. No one knew where it came from or how it got there. We decided to just leave it thinking who ever left it would eventually come back for it. Guess they don't want it."
"I see." Kairi says. Dinner was pretty good from that point onward and Kairi got a good nights rest after that.
The next day was the same as the first. Wake up, breakfast, then out to the beach to be picked up. As she wondered if the keyblade training covered gummi ship piloting, so she could fly herself to training, she spotted the car again. Thinking back to what her mother told her, she couldn't help but see some parallels between the car and herself.
She figured it was from another world judging from the symbol on its steering wheel, much like herself. Both were dump off with no warning onto the islands, though in the cars case it could be because it was unwanted. Kairi hoped she didn't fit with that last bit, though she had a strong feeling that she didn't, thankfully.
As she waited, she had an idea. After training she could search through the car, seeing as no one would have any issue with it, and maybe find out what world it came from so she could visit it one day. Maybe with Sora and Riku! Hopefully it was someplace Sora had never been to before. After all, he has gone to so many worlds Kairi had lost count of how many he had been to long before her year long slumber. Curiosity of what the world would be like and what it would be like when she Sora and Riku would explore it kept Kairi's mind occupied on the flight to training.
Let me know what you think of this fic so far. I've had this idea for months and am only now getting it out there.
