A week had passed, and Kairi had forgotten all about her plans to investigate the cars previous location. Her training kept most of her attention and when she wasn't training or spending time with her family. She was studying one of the multitude of books Master Aqua loaned her. Mickey suggested she take a small break of a day or two so she feel "cooped up" as he put it. She took it only to maybe spend more time with her family and maybe reconnect with some of her old friends she hadn't seen in years. What else was there to do?
When she was dropped off, she remembered to add another thing back onto that list of things to do. The car was still there, undisturbed and dusty as ever. Deciding it wouldn't take that long, Kairi headed straight for the car to look for any indication of its previous world.
Hopping back into the drivers seat, she made a mental note to sketch the symbol on the horn. It could be important. She the began looking around for anything even slightly interesting in her current seating and the passengers side. After that, she tuned to look in the seats behind her. Nothing but an unhealthy amount of dust on the seats. Looking down, she couldn't see much of the floor where a persons feet would go so she attempted to crawl down slightly to get a better view.
Putting her hands down to the floor and looking to her left she saw, nothing. Under the seats, nothing. To her right - OW! Kairi looks to her right hand to see it had been cut with a sharp point sticking from the floor. She did find it strange that that seemed to be the only source of damage to the car radio aside, she quickly became more concerned with the stinging feeling in her bleeding hand.
"Nothing a simple cure spell wouldn't fix." Kairi says to herself as she looks at her hand. Taking a step outside to get some more room, Kairi summons Destinys Embrace and lifts it high into the air. "Heal." She chants, a wave of magic passes through her and just like that, the stinging feeling is gone.
Thinking back, there was nothing in the back seats, so it was time for a new plan. Something might have been left in the trunk that could indicate where it came from. Maybe there was a lever inside that could open it. A loud clang sound rung in the air as Kairi was thinking. Whipping right back around to the car, its hard to see but something had fallen out from under the car. Getting down on her knees, Kairi determined... she had absolutly no clue what it was. It notably had some of the yellow metal the outside of the car had, but why would it need that underneath? She guessed she had a pretty good idea of why no one wanted it. It was falling apart!
Deciding to move on, Kairi tuned to the back of the car where the trunk should be (1). Maybe the was a small button that- CHHEECHOOCHEECHEECHEEE! (2) A slow, mechanical noise hummed. That didn't sound like something falling apart. Kairi watched in awe as the cars back section split in two and began shifting around.
Kairi stumbled to the side to see a mechanical arm coming from the door with the front side shifting to form a shoulder. A head emerged from the hood while it shifted down to become the chest while the previously back of the car had finished forming into feet. The doors folded before folding again to the back of the thing. Things stopped shifting into the sizeable robot. Parts of the car where scattered about its body, most notably the front lights were now prominently featured on the chest. Its head was very rounded with two small antenna like protrusions from the top of the head and two... cheek guards? The robot just had circle shaped components where the mouth would be, the same symbol from the horn on its forehead, but most noticeable were the two large, glowing, blue eyes.
Its stood rather proud looking for a moment before it took notice of its surroundings. Of her.
When its eyes looked down to Kairi, a small wave of fear encompassed her. It looked rather menacing. It then made its move. Kaiir jumped back, into a defensive position ready to summon her keyblade only to be surprised to find the robot had not attack, but rather stumbled backward, tripping over a rock, knocking it down to the ground with a loud thud before crawling away from Kairi a little and then curling very frighteningly.
What were the chances someone heard him fall... none, apparently. Taking notice of its eyes again, Kairi noticed the scared expression that made the robot look more like a lost little boy. Maybe thats just what it was. Overcoming her amazement, Kairi slowly lifted her hands to show she mean't no harm.
"I'm not going to hurt you." She declared as she slowly stepped toward it. It was subtle, but the robot seemed to relax a little. It understood her then. "Can you speak?" She asked it. Its eyes shifted to a more sad expression. No. It couldn't.
She was now closer to the robot, so she put her hand on its arm in an attempt to comfort it. What to do now?
"Do you have a name?" She asked. The robots eyes continue with the sad expression but it was different from the last one. It wasn't saying, 'no, I don't have a name.' (3) "You don't remember?" The robot nodded while also making a mechanical buzzing sound, confirming her suspicion. It then pointed to her. "You want to know my name?" She asked. The robot nodded once again, with the mechanical buzzing. "My name is Kairi. Nice to meet you..." She stopped. She couldn't just call it 'robot'. That would be like naming a person human.
Well, the yellow colour scheme, the mechanical buzzing he made, and the previously inhabited bees, this name was perfect for him.
"How about I call you Bumblebee until you remember your name?" She suggests. Bumblebee slightly perked up at her suggestion. "Will that be alright?" Bumblebee nodded his approval. "Well. Nice to meet you Bumblebee. Welcome to Destiny Islands."
It is then, Kairi notices how late it is. The sun has basically set and in about a few minutes it will be completely dark. Her parents would be worried if she didn't return soon. But she couldn't leave Bumblebee. With his memory gone he could wander off in curiosity and accidentally break something (one of those things being the world order) or be traumatized at being left alone. Either way would be unacceptable. Luckily Kairi had a compromise.
"Bumblebee, could you follow me to somewhere?" She asked. Bumblebee responded by standing back up to his full hight. If Kairi were to guess, he was about exactly twice the size of her in height.
Anyway, there were a thick layer of trees near her house that Bumblebee could hide behind while she wasn't able to be with him. If he decided to go looking around on his own or get frightened, she would be nearby. It was the best solution she could come up with. She lead Bumblebee to said area rather slowly. Every time the bot took a step a noisy clunk sound was made. It wasn't as loud as it seemed yet it still put Kairi on edge. When they arrived Kairi turned back to Bumblebee.
"Can you change back into a car?" She asked. Bumblebee answered by doing just that, and it sure was quicker than when he was converting into a robot. "Okay. I have to go right now. But don't worry, I'll be right back here by morning. Just stay pit and... get some sleep." Do robots even sleep? A buzzing noise of acknowledgement game from the car. That was easier than she thought. With that she faired Bumblebee a good night and rushed to the front of her house.
Upon getting in, she spotted her mother waiting in the living room.
"Kairi, where have you been? I was starting to get worried." Her mother expressed.
"Uh, sorry. I was held up with something." Kairi explained. Technically not a lie. Kairi could never bring herself to lie and would avoid it if possible. She would only do so if it endangered the world order, but that didn't mean she liked it.
After eating dinner, she got ready for bed, sparing a glance over to the trees Bumblebee had parked behind before drifting off to sleep.
(1): A VW Beetles trunk is actually at front of the car. Kairi was unknowingly checking the engine.
(2): This is how I envision the "transform" sound effect is written out.
(3): I imagine Kairi is is part empathic, being a princess of heart.
