The trip to the cabin continued, with Bluey and Bingo continuing to find more animals to observe, while their grandad steered the boat. From time to time, Bob would stop to look for animals with his granddaughters, all while taking photos with them.
When they arrived to a point of the lake where it got wider, Bob stopped the boat and went to the cabin get three fishing rods, a box and some buckets. Arriving to the deck, he said:
"Okay, girls, it's time for my favorite part of trip."
"Yeah, fishing time!" Bluey exclaimed, exclaimed.
"But, grandad, I don't know how to fish" Bingo said.
"No worries, Bingo, I can teach you" Bob said. "I also taught Bluey on her first fishing."
"It can be a little boring when we have to wait for the fish to bite, but when they do it's like playing tag-o-war" Bluey said. "And in the meantime, Grandad tells funny jokes."
"Well, what can I say?" he asked, jokingly. "I am a very funny guy."
He opened the box, where there were hooks, artificial baits and a round box.
"Okay, the first thing to do is place the hook at the end of the line" Bob explained, while doing it. "I'll do yours, so you don't cut yourselves on the hook."
Bob then showed them how to attach the hooks by using the best knot, doing it to the three rods, using smaller hooks for the girls'. After that, he said:
"All set. Now, the next thing to do is to place the bait on the hook."
"What's the bait?" Bingo asked.
"It's like candy for fish, to make them bite" Bluey replied.
"Yeah, Bluey is right" Bob confirmed. "Many fishers like to use fake bites, but I'm old school and I got real baits for our friends."
He signed to the round box in his fishing box.
"Ooooh!" Bingo exclaimed, curious.
"Grandad, can we take a picture before starting?" Bluey asked, while Bingo went to get Bob's round box.
"Sure thing, mate" Bob replied, while going to get the camera. "Get your rods and smile to the camera."
They made a posture with the rods and smile and Bob took a selfie with his granddaughters. Once he shot the photo, with it getting out of the camera, Bob when to take it, when he heard Bluey said:
"Bingo, no!"
Bob turned around, thinking something wrong had happened and so he saw Bingo eating an earthworm.
"No, Bingo…" Bob started, but it was too late.
Bingo ate the earthworm, making a funny face when she swallowed it.
"Bwaac!" she said. "This is awful!"
"That's because they're earthworms, Bingo" Bluey replied.
"What?!" Bingo shouted, throwing the box to the deck. "Ewww! But, grandad, you said it was candy!"
"And it is, Bingo…" Bob said, while taking the box with the earthworms from the deck and getting the ones that were out. "For the fishes."
"You should have seen your face, Bingo" Bluey said, while laughing. "It was so funny!"
"No it wasn't!" Bingo replied, both embarrassed and angry at her sister for mocking her.
"Come on, girls, don't fight" Bob told, while taking the box, despite unable to not find the situation a little bit funny. "Bluey, don't make fun of your sister. She made a mistake, just that."
"A funny mistake…" Bluey said, while Bingo crossed her arms together and sulked.
"Come on, let's forget about this" Bob replied, putting the earthworm box in the fishing box. "Let's see the photo we just took."
But when he went to see the photo, he let out a small chuckle that he tried to hide, but was not able to hide it from Bluey.
"Let me see it!" she said, taking the photo and saw that, while it showed Bob and herself smiling with their fishing rods, it also showed Bingo preparing to eat the earthworm. "Look, Bingo, it's you eating the worm! Now we can remember that funny moment forever."
That really upset Bingo who shouted:
"It's not funny!"
Having said that, she went to a corner of the boat, where she curled and adopted a sad face, with some tears appearing on her eyes.
"Oh, Bingo…" Bluey said, also with a sad face. "Don't be like that."
Turning to Bob, she asked:
"Grandad, why did she get so sad?"
"I think she didn't like you made fun of her for eating an earthworm" he replied, while putting worms on the hooks of the rods.
"But that was so funny" Bluey said.
"Yes, but Bingo feels embarrassed because of that" Bob explained. "And despite you didn't meant to, you hurt her feelings."
"But what can I do to fix it?" Bluey asked.
Bob casted the hook of his rod to the water and said, while putting down the rod:
"I have a thing that might work. Help me set the rods and then try to cheer her up, while I go it."
Bluey nodded and then she casted the hook of her rod to the water, while Bob casted Bingo's and then the latter went to the cabin, while Bluey approached Bingo.
"Bingo… I'm sorry for making you feel sad. I didn't mean to upset you."
"But you did" she said. "You laughed at me."
"Well, yeah…" Bluey said. "But it was not mock you. I just thought it was funny… just like when I make silly things and you laugh at them… or when dad does them."
Bingo cleaned the tears on her eyes and then said:
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah" Bluey replied. "I would never make fun of you… not on purpose."
"Thank you, Bluey…" Bingo said, proceeding to hug her sister, who hugged her back, with both wagging their tails.
After breaking the hug, Bingo said, still a little sad:
"But I still want to go home."
"Really?" Bob asked, while arriving to the deck holding something under his arm that looked like a book. "That's too bad, because you'll miss all the fun that still waits you."
Arriving to the side of his granddaughters, he sat down between them and told Bingo:
"Bingo, I understand that you got… embarrassed for accidently eating an earthworm and that it got captured in a photo. But you can't just give up all the possible fun things you can do because of that."
"I can't?" Bingo asked.
"No" Bob replied. "I'll tell you a secret. Did you know that every member of our family got into an embarrassing moment or funny accident at their very first lake trip, just like you?"
"Really?" Bingo asked.
"Yes, I have the proof right here" Bob replied, motioning to the book that was a photo album and placing it on his crossed legs.
