Chapter 2: Visitors from the future, a new threat, the mysterious masked hunter Shadow. (Edited 7-12-20.)
Note: This chapter will handle the introduction of Grace, Dani, Diego, and the REV-9.
But trust me, it is going to be very different here.
I decided to do some serious editing for this chapter because I felt a much more grand entrance was needed here.
I really hate the idea of siblings being torn apart.
So, in this story, Dani and her brother Diego both play a big role in the future.
Also, if Grace was meant to be a strong, but sexy female hero, I plan on making her one in the proper way.
Try to imagine a blonde Scarlett Johansson playing Grace.
Now don't get me wrong, I like strong female heroes, but only when they are done correctly.
So, let me just say this about John...

Anyway, on to the story!
It was a dark summers night in June of 2020.
A man dressed in black with a metallic mask stood outside of an abandoned house in the Mojave Desert with a medium-sized package in his arms.
"Oracle, is this the spot?" he said.
Over his radio, a female voice answered, "Yes. A time displacement portal will open up there in less than 20 seconds. You know what to do."
"Understood. You better be right about this one. The one we detected earlier was a code red. Hopefully, this one will be different. Over and out." the man answered.
He dropped the package on the ground and disappeared.
5 seconds after he vanished, a time displacement portal opened up, and the body of a woman flew out of it, landing with a dull thud on the ground.
As the woman stood up, her figure and features became more noticeable.
The woman stood at 5-11, with short blonde hair, dark brown eyes, and a slightly chiseled face.
She had the body of a female athlete, large CC-cup breasts, and a toned sexy abdomen.
The only problem was that, she was totally naked.
The woman looked around a little before she noticed a package on the ground with a white piece of paper that said, 'URGENT!'
The woman picked up the paper and unfolded it, revealing a note that read...
Listen to me very carefully.
We know who you are.
We know where you came from.
And, we know why you're here.
However, we don't have time to explain.
But know this, we're on your side and we want to help you.
Inside the package is some clothing, weapons, and a set of keys.
The keys are for a car that's parked behind the house.
Take the car and head south until you reach this set of coordinates...
671972 DEGREES WEST BY 44.50177 DEGREES NORTH.
Be there by 10:00 AM tomorrow and you'll find what you're looking for.
Now get moving!
Shadow and Oracle.
The woman was stunned and a little suspicious.
Nevertheless, she opened the package.
And just as the note said, there was a black pair of tactical pants, a white muscle shirt, a pair of black military boots, socks, and a light grey long-sleeved hoodie, all in women's style.
The weapons consisted of a pump-action shotgun and a 2-foot long fighting stick made of black anodized metal.
And sure enough, there was also a set of car keys.
The woman quickly put on the clothes, got the weapons in position, took the car keys, and found a 2009 Silver Porsche behind the house.
She turned the in the ignition, the motor rumbled to life.
She put the car in gear and drove off into the night, headed in the direction of coordinates described in the note.
Earlier that same night, an advanced Terminator, known as the REV-9, was sent back in time to Los Angeles, to murder a woman named Dani Ramos and her twin brother Diego, who would both become a threat to the machines in the future.
Dani was 21 years old and stood at 5ft-9 with long black hair, dark brown eyes, an athletic body type, and CC-cup breasts.
The woman who came through the other time portal, known as Grace, was sent from 2042 to protect them and someone named Connor.
The REV-9, disguised as Dani's father, infiltrated the automobile assembly plant where Dani and her brother Diego worked, but was thwarted by Grace.
After a very intense battle, Grace and the Ramos siblings were cornered.
Little did they know that someone very important was following them.
Outside the factory...
Is the target in position?" asked a male voice.
"Affirmative, Shadow. Target acquired. Prepare to engage!" said a female voice over the static sound of the radio.
"Understood, Oracle! I'm going in!" shouted Shadow who opened the door and began running at full speed through the factory, being very careful not to hurt anyone.
Back inside the factory...
Grace and the Ramos siblings were paralyzed with fear as the REV-9 Prepared to throw one of it's custom-formed pikes.
When suddenly...
"HIIIIIIIIIYYAHHHH!" shouted a voice.
Grace, Diego, and Dani looked up just in time to see a large dark humanoid figure lunge forward, kicking the REV-9 backwards at least 50 feet before landing directly in front of them in a crouching position.
As the figure stood up, the little group got a much better look at the figure.
They could tell from the body shape that the person was a male.
He wore what looked like a black tactical jumpsuit covered with what looked like black armor plates, matching boots, gloves, and a metallic plated mask covering his head.
He had what looked like a sub-machine gun on his right thigh.
There was a gray and silver revolver on his right hip.
On his left hip was what appeared to be a long 12-inch circular piece of metal, but it was hard to be sure.
The masked man stood up to face the REV-9 and growled, "You motherfuckers just keep on coming! When's Legion gonna learn?! There ain't nobody that can bring me down, man or machine!"
With that, he pulled up the large weapon on his right hip and prepared to shoot.
The REV-9 threw one of it's metal stakes at the man which hit him right in the chest, causing him to grunt and fall to his knees.
Grace and the Ramos siblings were terrified.
As the REV-9 walked over to retrieve it's metal stake, the most shocking thing happened!
Once the stake was gripped, the masked man suddenly looked up, grabbed the cyborg's arm and said, "Gotcha!"
Then he fired his weapon.
As a result, the REV-9 was blown back 15 feet by automatic gunfire and fell to the floor.
The masked man jumped into the air, did a frontwards flip, and landed right next to the cyborg.
After that, he grabbed the cyborg with his hands and slammed it against a concrete pillar several times, then threw it to the floor.
With the others...
Grace asked, "Who is that guy? He's wailing on that thing like it's nothing at all!"
Dani and Diego were equally amazed!
Back to the fight...
As the REV-9 stood up, the masked man charged at it and yelled, "Shadow Flying Power Kick!" and performed said move on the REV-9, which sent it flying all the way across the factory and crashing into the wall.
As the masked man stood up, he quickly ran over to Grace and the siblings before saying, "Come with me if you wanna live! Lets go! Come on! Move!"
He quickly led them outside to a silver Jeep Wrangler with a convertible top.
He put the Dani and Diego in the back seat, Grace in the front passenger seat, put his sub-machine gun in a storage compartment between the front seats, got in the driver seat, gunned the engine, and drove off as fast as possible.
While they were driving, the masked man asked, "Are you Dani and Diego Ramos?"
Dani leaned forward and said, "Yes we are. Why?"
The masked man shouted, "Do exactly as I say! Exactly! Don't move unless I say. Don't make a sound unless I say. Do you understand? DO YOU UNDERSTAND?!"
Dani squeaked, "YES! Please don't hurt us!"
After a few moments, the masked man announced, "I'm here to help you. I'm Shadow, an American crime fighter, BN-38416, sent here to rescue you! You've been targeted for termination!"
With the REV-9...
When the REV-9 finally regained it's bearings, it went outside, highjacked a semi-truck, and pursued them.
Back in the jeep...
Dani and Diego were shocked at the news.
Dani shook her head and protested, "This is a mistake! We didn't do anything!"
The masked man, now known as Shadow, answered, "No, but you will. It's very important that you live."
Diego finally spoke, "I don't understand! How could that man just get up after all that-"
Shadow interrupted, "Not a man. A machine. A Terminator. Legion Systems model series REV-9."
Grace froze with shock upon hearing those words.
Dani asked, "A machine? Like a robot?"
Shadow replied, "Not a robot. A cyborg. A cybernetic organism."
After a few more moments of driving, Shadow slowed down the jeep, started driving around slowly, and continued, "Alright, listen. The Terminator's an infiltration unit. Part man, part machine. Underneath, it's a hyper-alloy combat chassis, micro-processor controlled, fully armored, very tough. But outside, it's living human tissue. Flesh, skin, hair, eyes, and lips, grown for the cyborgs."
Grace asked, "How do you know all that?!"
Shadow parked the jeep and answered, "I've been hunting these things since I was a teenager. The REV-6 series had rubber skin. We spotted them easily. But the REV-9 models are new. They look human, sweat, bad breath, everything, very hard to spot. I had to wait till he moved on you before I could zero him."
Dani just scoffed and tried to climb out of the jeep.
But Grace held her down.
Dani suddenly bit down on her hand, causing Grace to wince.
Shadow grabbed Dani by the face, causing her to release Grace, grabbed both of her wrists, and said calmly, "Cyborgs don't feel pain. She does. Don't do that again."
Diego pleaded, "Please. Just let us go."
Shadow said in a stern voice, "Listen! And understand this! That Terminator is out there. It can't be bargained with, it can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear! And it absolutely will not stop, ever! Until you are DEAD!"
Dani sank into the seat with fear on her face before she asked, "Can you stop it?"
Shadow shook his head and sighed, "I don't know. Without the right weapons, I don't know."
Then, he pushed a button that brought up and secured the convertible top, climbed out of the jeep, and said to the others, "Stay in here and keep quiet. I'll be back in a few minutes."
After that, he closed the door, and disappeared behind a small building.
Inside the jeep...
Grace leaned back to face Dani and said, "Something tells me we can trust that guy. Anyway, I think a proper introduction is in order. My name is Grace Harper. An augmented female soldier from the future, sent to protect both of you and another person."
Diego asked, "Augmented?"
Grace replied, "Cybernetic implants and enhancements which give me superhuman strength, speed, and reaction abilities. The only downside is that I can fight on superhuman levels for a very short period of time before my energy cells are depleted. When my energy cells are depleted, I will be as weak as any other human being. A great deal of food and medication is needed in order to replenish my energy."
Diego nodded, "That makes sense."
Dani then asked, "Grace, why us? Why does it want us?"
Grace said carefully, "There was a nuclear war a few years from now. Everything around us, all of it, just gone. Because of Legion."
Dani asked, "What's Legion?"
Grace answered, "Legion was an AI originally developed for cyber warfare. At some point, it grew self-aware and became a threat to humanity. An attempt was made to neutralize it with nuclear weapons, resulting in a nuclear holocaust that almost wiped out the human race. After that, Legion created a global network of machines to terminate human survivors."
Diego asked, "Did you see this war?"
Grace said, "No. I grew up after it, in the ruins, starving, hiding from HK's."
Dani was confused, "HK's?"
Grace replied, "Hunter Killers. Patrol machines built in automated factories. Using your knowledge of computer skills, you and your brother created a devastating computer virus that could've disrupted Legion's systems and stopped it. Sadly, the plan was discovered before we were able to implement it. You and your brother were able to escape. Everyone else wasn't as lucky. And that's when things got horribly bad. Most of us were rounded up and put in camps for orderly disposal."
She pulled back the sleeve on her left arm, revealing a strange burn mark and said, "This was burned in by a laser scanner."
Dani and Diego could only cringe in horror at the mark.
Grace continued, "Some of us were kept alive, to work, loading bodies. The disposal units ran night and day. We that dangerously close to being wiped out completely. We thought for sure that all was lost."
Dani and Diego were scared.
Grace shifted a little, then turned back towards the siblings with determination on her face and said quietly, "But there was one man, who taught us to fight, to storm the wire of the camps, to smash those metal motherfuckers into junk! He turned it around. He helped us to win the war and brought Legion to ruin. He's also the 3rd and most important person I was sent to protect. His name is Connor. John Connor. Your husband, Dani. Your future husband."
Dani and Diego were shocked!
Moments later, footsteps were heard as Shadow returned and got back in the jeep after telling Grace to get in the driver seat.
The first thing Grace asked was, "Where were you? What were you getting?"
Shadow answered, "Ammo. I just got a call from Oracle saying that the REV-9 has located our position and is closing in. We got to get out of here."
He quickly pulled out and reloaded his sub-machine gun while Grace gunned the engine and drove off.
The REV-9 soon spotted them and raced forward in pursuit.
"SHADOW! The enemy is behind you and closing fast!" said a female voice.
Seconds later, they felt a jolting impact as a large semi truck rear-ended them.
Grace recovered and shouted, "It's him!"
Shadow replied back, "Son of a bitch! He just won't quit!"
After that, the others could only watch in stunned silence as Shadow pushed a button, transforming his little sub-machine gun into a powerful looking full-sized assault rifle.
He pushed the button that controlled the convertible top and folded it down.
Grace asked, "What are you doing?!"
Shadow answered, "Watch the road!"
With that, he stood up and turned around to see the REV-9 driving in a semi truck.
Shadow raised his rifle and opened fire in an attempt to blow up or disable the truck.
After firing 25 shots on full auto, he eventually succeeded in blowing up the truck after shooting the fuel tanks.
With the truck destroyed, he told Grace to stop the jeep, which she did.
Then he jumped up, did a frontwards flip through the air, and landed gracefully on the ground.
Diego asked, "Where are you going?"
Shadow said to them, "You stay here. I'm gonna check it out."
And so, he moved cautiously forward.
Only for the REV-9 to emerge unharmed and demonstrate it's ability to separate between it's endo-skeleton and it's liquid metal shell.
Meaning it was 2 machines in one!
Thinking quickly, Shadow aimed his rifle and fired all remaining shots at the REV-9's liquid metal shell, blowing it further and further backwards until it fell off the bridge.
Once that was done, the rifle was transformed back into it's smaller form and Shadow put the weapon back in it's place on his right thigh.
Then he turned towards the metal endo-skeleton of the REV-9 and said out loud, "Hope you brought your trunk, cause I'm sending you right back where you came from!"
After which, he pulled out the 12-inch piece of metal attached to his left hip, then with the click of a button, it transformed into a 6-foot long retractable bo staff!
Shadow twirled the staff a few times, displaying his level of skill, then ran into battle.
He bludgeoned the cyborg a few times to stun it before swinging in a wide arc with so much force that it sent the REV-9 flying off the bridge to the ground below.
With the enemy temporarily disrupted, Shadow retracted the staff and put it back in the sheath on his left hip.
Then he went back to the jeep, opened the driver-side door, and told Grace to get back in the passenger seat.
Once that was done, Shadow climbed in, put his large weapon back in it's storage compartment, started the engine, and quickly drove away.
20 minutes later...
After driving for a while, the group stopped off at an abandoned warehouse and went inside.
Once the group was seated, Shadow finally asked, "You guys okay?"
Grace and the siblings nodded.
Shadow replied, "Good. I was able to ward off that piece of shit. But he'll be back. Therefore, we need to be ready."
Grace jumped up and said in a rather rude voice, "Why'd you bring us here?! Who the hell do you think you are?!"
Shadow snorted in disgust, "I think I'm the one that just SAVED YOUR LIFE!"
"Look, I had everything under control!" snapped Grace.
Shadow retorted, "Not from where I'm standing."
Grace raised her fist, preparing to fight.
Shadow did not even flinch, "You saw what I did earlier against that machine, remember?"
Grace sneered, "You obviously have no idea who you're dealing with, buster."
Shadow replied, "Oh, yes I do, bitch! Or should I say Grace Harper, a cybernetically augmented female soldier from the future who was sent back through time to protect Dani and her brother Diego here who've been targeted for termination?"
Dani was stunned!
Diego was surprised!
Grace was shocked!
Once she recovered, her first question was, "How do you know that?!"
Shadow answered, "My partner, otherwise known as Oracle, has told me everything about you. She heard every word you said in that jeep while I was gone."
Grace was confused, "First off, who is this Oracle? And more importantly, who are you?"
Shadow said, "My partners name is no concern of yours. As for myself, when it comes to the outfit that I'm wearing, my codename is Shadow. But, when the outfit comes off..."
With the click of a button, the metallic mask that Shadow was wearing began to retract and fold up until his entire head was exposed.
While Diego was intrigued, Grace and Dani couldn't help, but blush as both women took in the man's features.
The face that had been revealed to them had the youthful appearance of a young man in his early or mid 20's.
He had short black hair, his face was chiseled and sharp with faint signs of developing sideburns.
But, what really stood out for Grace was the man's bright blue eyes which held the look of a battle-hardened man who had been training and fighting nearly all his life.
Dani stood up, walked over to him, and said, "You look really handsome, mister. Please tell me your name."
The man smiled, "My name is John Connor..."

At the beginning of Terminator 2, an actor named Michael Edwards makes a brief cameo appearance as an adult John Connor.
That is what the adult John Connor looks like in my story.
