The ideas came from John as a result of his most favorite internet series, RWBY.
Another interesting thing is that, when the Terminators were destroyed, after scanning their technical schematics and programming, plus, using her ability to control other machines, Karen was able to learn everything about Legion and how many different models that were built.
After reprogramming them, the Terminators would tell Karen everything they knew.
Every piece of data collected was then stored in a secure flash drive for later use.
The reason for that is because John was adamant about learning everything he could regarding the Terminators.

10 minutes later, Grace was wearing a black tactical fighting suits similar to John's, except that the suit was tighter and more slender, and there were no gadgets or accessories included.
Grace,, for all practical purposes, looked like a blonde version of Black Widow, minus the red hair.
Even though the suit was tight, there was no hindrance of movement at all.
Dani and Diego were outfitted with triple-thick aramid pads on their arms, legs, and torsos.
After that, Karen led them over to the weapon display and said, "Alright. Lets get you strapped up."

All in all, Grace, Dani, and Diego were armed to the teeth.
They all had a rifle for long-range combat, a sawed-off shotgun for mid-range combat, a trench knife for close-range combat, and a revolver for emergency firepower.
Once everything was put away, Karen spoke, "Okay. I think it's time for some target practice and combat training. How about you?"
The others nodded before filing out of the house.
