Chapter 37 The Terror Within
Korra woke up with a yawn as she wrapped her arms around her husband who smirked before holding her close.
"Morning." Korra said half awake before giggling as he kissed her neck.
"Morning." Sean said before she sat up and he leaned down to kiss her stomach making her laugh.
"Oh. I'm getting more impatient for these three to come out already. Mommy wants to hold you three." Korra said holding her stomach making him chuckle.
"You only got another 2 months until your due. You can wait a little longer." Sean said making her smile.
Soon the two got dressed before heading outside seeing Bolin trying to practice metal bending with the Twins.
"Whats the matter Bolin I thought you wanted to practice Metal bending. Or is Opal on your mind?" Sean teased making Korra giggle as Bolin blushed before frowning at him.
"Your not seriously in love with our sister are you?" Wei asked.
"Hey at least this time his love interest is an actual human being unlike last time." Sean said making Bolin shudder thinking of his now dead girlfriend.
"What does that mean?" Wing asked.
"DON'T ASK!" Bolin said in fear making the married couple laugh.
"Still trying to practice Metal bending?" Mako asked his brother with Asami next to him.
"Mako, Metal bending is extremely difficult. No one gets it right away, if they can get it at all! It's not normal." Bolin said before Korra started doing it with ease while grinning.
"You were saying?" Sean asked amused.
"Oh sure, she's the Avatar and you trained her." Bolin said.
"Fair enough." Sean said.
"Guys. It's time to get cleaned up. Tonight's opal's farewell dinner." Asami said.
Bolin sighed in depression.
"Now I gotta say bye to Opal? This is the worst day ever." Bolin said.
"At least she treats you like a human being unlike Eska did. Lord forbid she ever finds someone who can tolerate her existence." Sean said not knowing she was dead along with her twin brother.
As Bolin went inside Korra had a smirk on her face.
"Wanna have some fun tonight?" Korra asked.
"In your condition?" Sean asked making her slap his shoulder.
"Not that kind." Korra said before whispering in his ear making his eyes widen before grinning.
"You are so fucking evil. I love you." Sean said making her giggle before kissing him.
Later
Everyone was at the dining hall as the Chef put down Opal's favorite food.
"Thanks for making my favorite meal." Opal said.
"I'm really going to miss you, Opal. No one appreciates my raw veggie wraps like you do." The Chef said.
"Every time I eat Raw Kale, I'm gonna think of you." Bolin said sadly not seeing someone behind him.
"Boyfriend." A familiar voice said making him widen his eyes in fear as he slowly turned around before screaming in fear seeing Eska making Sean and Korra burst out laughing making him look seeing Sean's right hand glowing before it stopped showing it was an illusion.
"THATS NOT FUNNY!" Bolin said holding his chest.
"HAHAHAHAHA! It was Korra's idea." Sean laughed pounding the table.
"I'm sorry, Bolin. I couldn't help it." Korra said wiping some tears from her eyes.
"You guys are evil." Asami said giggling.
"It was her idea. I just did as she asked." Sean said chuckling. "What the hell did you ever see in her?" Sean asked making Opal giggle seeing Bolin had dated some bad people in the past.
"Zhu-Li! Bring the, uh, Thing!" Varrick said making her do just that. "Check out my latest invention. An Airbender finder." Varrick said.
"Wait, that can find airbenders?" Korra asked.
"Give me that!" Sean snatched it from him before aiming it at Korra then Opal and nothing happened. "What a shock it doesn't work." Sean said.
"I think it's broken." Asami said.
"It's not broken. They need to air-bend into it! How else do you expect it the thing to work!" Varrick asked snatching it.
"If I could have your attention, please. Tonight, my beautiful little girl leaves for the Northern air temple. Opal, none of us could be more proud of you. You're an incredible daughter, sister, friend, and soon-to-be Airbending master." Suyin said kissing her head.
The twins cried a little while her second oldest just rolled his eyes. (Asshole)
"Here's to Opal. May she help lead us into the new era." Suyin said.
Later
Sean sighed as he sat in bed with his wife before she was in her PJ's.
"I feel sad for Bolin." Korra said.
"At least he finally fucking picked the right girl this time. His thing with you was more of a crush." Sean said making her giggle before she kissed him.
"Plus I was already in love with you anyway before I told. you." Korra said making him smirk before they laid in bed. "I love you." Korra said.
"I love you too." Sean said before sleep claimed them.
A couple hours later
Sean slept peacefully as he held his wife.
However suddenly a vision came to him seeing Zaheer and the others arriving in the Estate making him wake up and glared before getting out of his wife's grasp before putting his armor on.
"Honey?" Korra asked half asleep before Sean kissed her forehead.

"Go back to sleep." Sean said as she laid back down.
Zaheer and his group arrived at the Beifong Estate.
Once they arrived outside the Guest house however they felt the air get cold.
"Brrr. The hell is with the chill?" Ghazan asked making Zaheer narrow his eyes.
"Something isn't right. I know this presence." Zaheer said.
"You should." Sean said above them shocking them before an explosion occured in front of them shaking the whole place.
"WHOA!" Korra yelled in surprise as she woke up.
"What was that?" Mimir asked before Korra picked him up and rushed outside.
Zaheer and the others looked in shock seeing Sean growling at them with every element surrounding him and had every weapon at his disposal on his body glaring at them with hatred.
"Remember me Zaheer!" Sean roared.
"Oh boy. Maybe we should have taken him up on that offer." P'li said concerned as Sean let out an inhuman roar as the dome began to open up before lightning shot down around them but they quickly dodged.
Korra and the others rushed out before they saw Sean fighting Zaheer and the others.
"Not good! Kruger's not holding back this time. Look up!" Mimir said making them do so seeing the skies covered in lightning before it began to shoot down.
Sean roared before blasting Zaheer and the others with his full powers before the Very ground tried to grab him before Ming-Hua was grabbed and yelled as she was slammed into a wall making her grunt in pain.
"This time I'll take more than your fucking arms!" Sean roared before blasting a wave of fire at her before Ghazan earth bent to block it making him growl before a wave of water rushed up and grabbed him before slamming him into the walls multiple times making him yell before he was thrown in the air before Sean punched him down hard making him groan.
Zaheer and P'li hid behind a pillar.
"We really should have taken that offer." P'li said as Ming-Hua hid with them looking terrified.
"YA THINK!" Ming-Hua yelled before the pillar was destroyed as Sean growled at them.
"I will make you into a bloody stain!" Sean yelled breathing fire at them but P'li blocked it before using her combustion bending at him but he blocked it with Helios's shield and glared at her.
"Uh oh." P'li said alarmed before he dashed at her and slammed her with the Nemean Cestus making her grunt as she hit a wall.
Zaheer tried to airbend him but Sean dodged with ease before kneeing him in the stomach making him grunt before Sean grabbed him and slammed him down hard.
"I will not let you take away the most important thing in my life. DO YOU HEAR ME!" Sean roared before the skies lit up before red lightning began to shoot down but Zaheer quickly dodged
"Where the hell did this come from? I've never seen him fight like this." Lin said surprised.
"This is his full power. He's not holding back for obvious reasons." Mimir said while Korra looked worried as her husband unleashed everything he had.
Sean let out an inhuman roar as the Zaheer and his group readied to attack before the elements began to merge with Sean before taking form.
"You dare challenge me Zaheer?" Sean asked as his new form looked menacing. "A god of Olympus!" Sean roared. (Basically Poseidon's water form but with every element added to it)
"Oh my god." Zaheer said in awe at such power. "It's nothing personal Kruger. If you understood what we're trying to do..."
"I LOST EVERYTHING 300 YEARS AGO ZAHEER! I WILL NOT LOSE IT AGAIN!" Sean roared before blasting them but they dodged before P'li blasted him in the chest but unlike last time it had no effect.
"Oh great." P'li said annoyed before he tried to smash her but she dodged.
"I will leave absolutely nothing of you in my wake! DO YOU HEAR ME! NOTHING!" Sean roared as he spat out lave at them but they quickly dodged.
Ghazan tried to lava bend him but nothing worked before breathing ice at him but Ming-Hua shielded them.
"This guy is a monster compared to the last time we fought!" Ming-Hua yelled before Sean swatted them away.
P'li quickly went for the head but all it did was piss him off as he roared loudly before trying to crush her again but Zaheer airbent her away.
"Ok thats enough! We're pulling out of here!" Zaheer yelled seeing this was hopeless before he and Ghazan creating a smokescreen and escaped making Sean roar in the air in rage.
(End song)
"SEAN!" Korra yelled making him face her. "It's ok. Calm down." Korra said trying to calm him down as his expression softened before he started to shrink as the elements left him. Sean turned to his human form before he collapsed to his knees and vomited blood before she and the others rushed to him.
"I'm alright! I'm alright!" Sean said calming down. "Using all those powers in one go takes a toll on me. I'll recover in a few hours." Sean said as Korra held him.
"It's ok." Korra said.
Later
"This should help you heal faster." Aiwei said giving Sean some healing herb to drink making him sigh as he drank it all.
"Thanks." Sean said holding his head. "Oooh. I can still feel the effects of using all that power." Sean said as Korra held him.
"How could this happen? You assured us it was impossible for them to get in." Lin said to her sister.
"I think the answer is obvious. They had inside help. One of the Guards most likely." Sean said.
"I concur. It is the most logical answer." Aiwei said.
"Question them all! Whoever betrayed my city will suffer the consequences." Suyin said.
Meanwhile
"WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT!" Ming-Hua yelled.
"Ares was not kidding he wasn't holding back this time." Ghazan said.
"Theres no way in hell we could ever get close to her now if thats his true power. As long as he's close to her and he's like that we're fucked!" Ming-Hua said.
"Hmm." Zaheer said agreeing with her. The sheer power unleashed would make any mere ordinary mortal tremble in fear. He knew he was powerful from their first confrontation 15 years ago but he held back greatly. This time because his wife was expecting three children gave him a reason not to hold back when she was in danger.
"Zaheer. We don't have a choice. We have to take Ares up on his offer." P'li said making him frown.
"Hold on. Theres one thing I wanna try before we make that choice." Zaheer said.
"And whats that?" Ming-Hua asked.
Meanwhile
Sean and the others were interrogating the guards to see if any of them had anything to do with what happened last night.
So far no one was found Guilty due to Aiwei's truth seeking abilities.
The next one however.
"What was I doing last night?" Varrick asked. "Same thing I always do. From 9 to 10, I check my body for ticks. Lyme disease is a serious killer." Varrick said as everyone was annoyed especially Sean and Mako. "Then I did my nightly Varri-calisthenics followed by 30 minutes of breath holding. I filmed the whole thing if you want to watch it." Varrick said before yelping as Sean's blade nearly hit him.
"Did you or did you not sell out Korra's location for money. You tried to start a bigger war in the South to make money like the greedy scumbag you are." Sean said glaring at him.
"Easy Sean calm down." Korra said calming her husband down.
"No I didn't I swear on my honor." Varrick said.
"He's not lying." Aiwei said as he and Zhu-Li left.
Sean sighed heavily annoyed.
"Calm down." Korra said calming him down.
"I know someone sold you out. I wanna find out who." Sean said as the next guard arrived. He was at least a year younger than Korra was.
"Give me your name and tell me where you are from." Aiwei said.
"I'm Hong Li. I was born and raised here in Zaofu." Li said.
"Do you have any knowledge of the people who attempted to kidnap Kruger's wife?" Aiwei said.
"No." Li said making him frown leaning forward.
"Did you help the attackers enter Zaofu last night?" Aiwei asked.
"No, of course not." Li said making him narrow his eyes.
"You're lying." Aiwei said shocking him.
"What? No, I'm not!" Li yelled before Sean dashed at him pinning him to the wall.
"How did they get in and out! I want answers!" Sean yelled.
"I don't know! I'm telling you, I didn't help them." Li said before Sean's blade was at his throat.
"You're a traitor to the entire clan." Suyin said before Sean knocked him out.
"I suggest we search his place." Aiwei said.
When they arrived they searched the place while Bolin was in the kitchen.
"I got something." Mako said finding a note.
"What?" Bolin asked with cookies in his mouth. (Really?)
"It looks like it's from them. Team Assembled. Ready to rendezvous." Mako said.
"And look at this." Asami said with a book in hand before Aiwei read it.
"These are the Guards log books. All their schedules and routes are in here." Aiwei said.
"That guard knows everything. We have to get him to talk." Korra said.
"Oh believe me I will." Sean said about to head out.
"No. Let's give him time to sweat it out." Aiwei said leaving.
Later
The group arrived back at the battle site seeing all the damage Sean did here.
"Yikes. I knew you were powerful and all but this...Wow." Asami said.
"I usually don't let it all out since power can corrupt." Sean said.
"I don't understand why we're not talking to the guard right now. Every minute we waste here, those guys get further away. I mean, how does a random guard get involved with a group of super criminals, anyway?" Mako asked.
"Hmm?" Sean said.
"That guard is only 18 years old, and has lived in Zaofu his entire life. Zaheer and his gang have been in prison for 15 years." Mako said making Sean frown. He had a good point.
"Well...He could be part of a larger group and Zaheer and his group were the leaders. Maybe he was recruited some time ago." Sean said.
"We all saw the evidence. It's pretty overwhelming." Korra said holding Sean close before Varrick appeared.
"Maybe a little too overwhelming." Varrick said.
"Hey, Varrick. What are you doing here?" Bolin asked.
"Collecting pumice stones with Zhu-Li. That battle last night did a lot of damage. But it made some nice exfoliating rocks. And when you got calluses like mine, You take all the pumice stones you can get your hands on. Or in my case...Feet!" Varrick said as Zhu-li rubbed them on his feet.
This made the group groan in disgust.
"You are disgusting." Sean said with his eyes twitching.
"What were you saying about the evidence?" Mako asked changing the subject.
"I was saying that I can smell a conspiracy when I see one. Look, if I was trying to set someone up, I would tell everyone he's guilty, and then plant the evidence in his apartment as proof." Varrick said.
"Oh. You mean like you did to Mako?" Asami asked glaring at him.
"Yes! Just like that. Remember how great that worked?" Varrick asked.
"Wait a minute." Sean said gaining their attention. "Varrick may have a point. The evidence is overwhelming. But Aiwei is the only truth seeker we know in this city." Sean said.
"What are you saying?" Korra asked.
"What he's the one who let Zaheer and his group in and used this kid as a fall guy?" Sean asked.
"You think he set him up?" Asami asked.
"Well, think about it. Suyin said he's a truth seeker which makes it difficult not to believe him. But that also makes him less of a suspect if he's lying about something like this." Sean said making Korra frown.
"We need proof though." Korra said.
The group headed for Aiwei's house before they walked in.
"Lets make this quick." Sean said as they searched the house.
"Uh Sean?" Korra said making him walk to her before they noticed scoff marks on the floor. "Theres only one reason those would be here." Korra said before Sean pulled the shelf back.
A secret entrance was revealed making Sean frown.
"I think we found out how they got in." Sean said.
"Aiwei's coming back." Asami said as Sean closed it before he entered.
"We need to talk about the guard." Sean said making him raise an eyebrow.
Offering them some tea he walked to the shelf.
"So, What exactly is not adding up?" Aiwei asked.
"Don't you think it's weird how young he is? How did he ever get mixed up with this group?" Mako asked.
"Perhaps through a relative. Or maybe he was bribed. We. will find out those answers in time." Aiwei said while Sean narrowed his eyes before his wife held his hand to clam him down. "But if it wasn't him, who do you think it was?" Aiwei asked.
"We're just looking for answers." Korra said.
"And you think you found them don't you?" Aiwei asked seeing the door was slightly open to the secret entrance making them tense. "You have no idea what is coming for you, Avatar." Aiwei said before Sean threw his blade but he metal bended a wall up making it pierce it before Sean rushed to the door and with great force pulled it apart before rushing after him only to find a bomb.
"Oh fuck." Sean said before using quick speed of Hermes to rush everyone out before the place exploded.
"Whoa." Korra said seeing they were outside before looking down seeing Sean's shoes with wings before they vanished.
"Speed of Hermes." Sean said making her smirk before kissing him before he dashed back inside.
Looking inside he found an entrance that collapsed making him frown.
"What happened? We heard an explosion." Lin said rushing in with Suyin.
"Where is Aiwei?" Suyin asked.
"Your damn truth seeker is the mole who sold out my wife. He was lying about the guard." Sean said shocking her.
"I...I can't believe this." Suyin said in shock.
Later
"He had an escape plan all ready to go." Sean said.
"I trusted him with my life. It was all a lie." Suyin said.
"I'm going after him. I put a barrier around the city. No one can come in or out unless invited by you or Lin. If I find Aiwei I find Zaheer." Sean said.
"Sean...Are you sure you wanna do this?" Korra asked holding her stomach.
"Korra, I have to keep you and the babies safe. If I don't end this soon they'll constantly be in danger until I bring them down." Sean said holding her close making her close her eyes knowing this was true.
"Please be careful." Korra said making him nod.
"I promise. Lin I need you to stay here." Sean said making her nod.
Korra watched as Sean was on Naga ride off while the others were in a jeep.
"Come back soon." Korra said holding her stomach.
"Now don't tell me you don't have faith in my son's abilities."
Korra widened her eyes before turning around seeing Lysandra who smiled at her.
"Lysandra?" Korra asked shocked seeing her in the world of the living.
"Surprised? Zeus thought I could give you some comfort since your clearly troubled." Lysandra said making her sigh.
"It's just...This whole pregnancy was supposed to be nice and easy...Now...It's a nightmare." Korra said before she placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Believe me I know exactly what your going through. I was terrified for Sean and Deimos when I was pregnant with them. Having the sons of the king of the gods makes you a target. But I realized worrying about it constantly makes it worse. All we can do is have faith everything will work out. Believe me I know Sean is just as worried as you are. But he has a reason not to fail. Protecting you has always been his job. Now he's doing everything in his power to protect not just you but your children as well. Thats all he needs to succeed." Lysandra said making her smile lightly before hugging her.
"Thanks." Korra said making her smile.
"Everything will be just fine. I promise." Lysandra said before vanishing.
