Chapter 45 The Coronation
It's been about two weeks since Sean finally came back to Republic City after Jinora and the others found him. His sons were happy to have him back. His daughter on the other hand kept her distance since she was upset he left.
Sean of course let her have her space since he understood why she was upset with him. Korra of course tried to get them back together but nothing worked. So they both gave her some space until she was ready.
Right now however Sean laughed seeing Junior and Atreus use water bending against Meelo.
"WHOA!" Meelo yelled trying to avoid getting hit before his legs froze and Junior froze his head before he fell backwards making the boys cheer while Sean laughed his ass off.
"Nice works boys." Sean said as the two ran off before Sean broke the ice.
"Why do I have to be target practice?" Meelo asked making him grin.
"It's not my fault you annoyed your sisters so much they made you do this." Sean said laughing making him glare before he walked away.
Arriving at the training circle he saw Katara playing with Jinora and Ikki before she saw him and ran away making him sigh.
"Give her time." Tenzin said.
"I never should have left to begin with." Sean said.
"You did what you thought was required to regain what you had lost." Tenzin said.
"And look where that got me. My muscles went down ended up wounding myself and got this new scar on my right eye and worst of all my own daughter is avoiding me like a disease. I don't blame her for not wanting to be near me." Sean said.
Korra however was listening from the wall behind them and frowned knowing she needed to fix this.
Walking to Katara's room she was about to open it when she heard her crying making her concerned.
"Katara?" Korra asked walking in before she hid something behind her back. "What was that?" Korra asked having a pretty good idea.
"Nothing." Katara said.
"Katara." Korra said making her look down before pulling out a photo of the family two weeks before Sean left to regain his warrior spirit.
"See? I told you. You don't hate your father." Korra said hugging her as her daughter cried.
"Why'd Daddy leave?" Katara asked making her sigh before rubbing the tears out of her daughter's eyes.
"Honey listen to me. There was an incident that happened 2 weeks after you and your brothers were born. A man named Zaheer threatened to kill Tenzin and all the new airbenders at the Northern Air temple including your uncle Turok. Unless your father surrendered himself. He could never let innocents die for his sake not even just to be with you three. Zaheer of course lied and didn't uphold his end of the bargain and captured your father." Korra said shocking her.
"Why?" Katara asked.
"He was a lying monster. Zaheer used a poison given to him by an evil monster worse than him and forced it into your father. But it wasn't a poison. It unleashed a monster inside your father that he had contained for centuries. And it was gonna hurt you, Your brothers, Me and everyone else. The only way to stop it was for your father to take his own life." Korra said shocking her.
"But..." Katara tried to say.
"Your father gave up his life for you and your brothers so you would be safe. But his best friend Spyro...A powerful and Nobel dragon used a powerful ability that brought him back from the dead...At the cost of his own life. For his sacrifice he became part of the Dragon constellation that we showed you three. Only the most Nobel dragons become part of it. But coming back from the dead your father lost his warrior spirit something he's always had for years. He left to try to get it back so he could fight to protect us incase something happened. But it didn't work." Korra said making her look down. "I know your upset about him leaving believe me so was I. But I understood why he left. And believe me he hates himself for leaving us." Korra said holding her.
From the door Junior and Atreus looked at their sister.
"Mommy?" Junior said before they faced him.
"Come here." Korra said before they ran to her before she hugged all three. "I love you three so much. And so does your father." Korra said.
Later
"Argh!" Sean said annoyed as he tried to put on his armor but it wouldn't fit anymore since his muscles went down. "You gotta be kidding me." Sean said making Korra giggle.
"We really need to get you back into your Prime condition." Korra said putting it away as she was in formal clothing.
"The hell am I supposed to wear?" Sean asked.
"You could always dress up like a normal person in these lands for a change...In fact." Korra trailed off.
"Oh no." Sean said alarmed before she dragged him away.
"Well?" Korra asked grinning. He was dressed in more civilian clothing in water tribe blue making him growl before burning them.
"Hell...NO!" Sean said making her burst out laughing. "Ok thats it." Sean said before using his magic to put on something he hasn't worn in nearly 400 years. His Spartan Armor when he was a Captain.
"Hmm. I actually like this." Korra said inspecting it.
"I'm surprised it still fits me. Then again I didn't have have as much muscle back then." Sean said.
"Well it still looks good on you regardless." Korra said kissing his cheek making him chuckle.
Today Wu would be crowned King.
"How the fuck does that pathetic dumbass end up a king?" Sean asked.
"My thoughts exactly. And I thought the Earth Queen was bad but he's more interested in looking popular." Korra said before they walked outside seeing the others ready.
"Ain't that your Spartan Armor?" Turok asked.
"My regular armor doesn't fit me anymore since I lost a lot of muscle. I need to get it back." Sean said.
"You will in time. But for now we need to attend the Coronation." Tenzin said as they left.
Arriving at the place they saw several world leaders from every corner of the globe.
"Sean." Tonraq said approaching him with his wife.
"Hey guys." Sean said as Senna hugged him.
"We're so glad your safe." Senna said.
"That reminds me. Where the hell did you even go?" Reznov asked.
"Uh the Earth Kingdom swamp. Hence where I got this." Sean said pointing at his scar. "But being brutally honest I'd rather go through that again then Deal with Toph Beifong a second time." Sean said surprising them.
"Wait you met Lin's mother?" Tenzin asked.
"Did we forget to mention that?" Sean asked.
"Whoops." Jinora said.
"That woman is a nightmare. She chased me through the damn swamp saying she was helping me. She just wanted to kick my ass." Sean said annoyed making most chuckle. "It's not funny." Sean annoyed.
"I consider it payback for lying to your family Kruger." Reznov said.
"Your lucky I can't fight or I would kick your ass." Sean said annoyed. It annoyed him completely. He couldn't fight or do anything Violent at all since his Warrior Spirit left.
"Hello, Republic City!" Bolin said rushing in. "Bolin is back." Bolin said.
"So we noticed." Sean said gaining his attention.
"Sean? Your back!" Bolin said running to him before pulling him into a hug.
"Uh Bolin I'm happy to see you too...But let go." Sean said making him blink before doing so.
"Sorry. Got a little excited there." Bolin said rubbing his head.
"Never thought I'd be allowed back in Republic City four elements." Varrick said gaining their attention as Sean's eyes twitch in annoyance.
"You must be joking. Why is he here?" Sean asked annoyed.
"Oh...While you were gone Varrick was given a full pardon because of Kuvira." Korra said making him growl.
"Well look at these fine young men. I'll bet they could help me with some projects." Varrick said looking at Junior and Atreus who looked at each other before using the water in the lobby to freeze him making the parents widen their eyes before bursting out laughing.
"NICE GOING BOYS!" Sean said proud making them grin while Katara giggled.
"Guys?" Mako said gaining their attention.
"Well most of the group is all here." Sean said.
"It is now." Asami said walking to them as Katara ran up to her making her smile as she picked her up.
"So I hear someone has been guarding Prince idiot." Sean said looking at Wu who was looking at his reflection before posing making Mako's eyes twitch.
"I would rather be going through another war like the convergence than be doing this." Mako said.
"Same." Reznov said. "Even Midgard is insulted by him becoming King." Reznov said.
"Sean?" Suyin asked approaching him.
"Hey Suyin." Sean said.
"You certainly look better than the last time I saw you." Suyin said pleased.
"Mostly." Sean said before her son approached them.
"Hello Mother." Baatar said.
"Hello, Baatar Junior." Suyin said displeased.
"It's just Baatar now. Kruger it's good to see you again." Baatar said.
"Likewise." Sean said.
"So, Now that you've seen all the good we've done since we left Zaofu, you must be sorry that you didn't come and help us." Baatar said to his mother.
"I don't know if I'd call marching all over the Earth Kingdom, forcing people to bow to Kuvira, Doing good." Suyin said not happy about that making Sean look at his wife raising an eyebrow making her shrug.
"You're going to have to get over your grudge with her. I'm sure you've heard that we're engaged. She's going to be an official member of our family." Baatar said.
"I'm just glad that she'll be stepping down after tomorrow." Suyin said.
"Kruger would you rather have Kuvira or that idiot?" Baatar asked.
"Definitely the first." Sean said annoyed since he hadn't really heard much of Kuvira's methods since he was more focused on raising his family. But even still anyone was better than Wu.
Thats when they saw said idiot flirting with Kuvira.
"I hope I'm not out of order saying this...You're pretty easy on the eyes for a military type. I'll put in a good word for. you with the hotel staff, maybe get you a little upgrade. I've been living here for years. They love me." Wu said making Sean's eyes twitch in annoyance.
"This idiot is more annoying than Aphrodite. And I mean that." Sean said.
"Thats...Debatable." Korra said.
"I won't be needing your help. We've reserved the presidential suite." Kuvira said.
"Well, I think someone is pulling your chain, gumdrop. See, I'm in the presidential suite." Wu said arrogantly.
"Not anymore. I had you moved out." Kuvira said smirking making Sean and the others chuckle.
"Wait, What? Cam, Where's all my stuff?" Wu asked one of the employees in worry.
"We moved you into a very nice junior suite on the Seventh floor." Cam said.
"Junior suite?" Wu asked depressed.
"Something you should know about me I always get what I want." Kuvira said smirking.
"HA! Well, theres the highlight of my day." Sean said chuckling getting her attention.
"Kruger. It's good to see you again. I had heard you went missing for a while." Kuvira said.
"More along the lines of finding what I had lost. Didn't exactly work." Sean said.
"I don't suppose you've reconsidered my offer to help lead my forces." Kuvira said.
"Ah no. Those days are long behind me." Sean said wrapping an arm around his wife who smiled.
"I see. Still the offer is always open if you change your mind." Kuvira said as she and her people walked away.
"When did she make you an offer?" Tonraq asked.
"About a year and a half ago. I turned her down since I wasn't interested." Sean said.
Later
Soon enough the coronation was underway as everyone watched.
Sean snorted however seeing the disappointed look on Wu's face while his wife silently giggled.
"Oh this is good. He doesn't have a crown to match his Ego." Sean said chuckling.
Thats when Kuvira was offered her medal and gave her own speech.
"Growing up in Zaofu with Suyin Beifong, I learned the idea of a royal family passing a title from one generation to the next was archaic, and that technology and innovation should be what drives a nation forward. It was the pathetic rule of kings and queens that caused the Earth Kingdom to descend into such incredible disarray." Kuvira said.
"Well, she's not completely wrong." Sean said to Korra who nods.
"It's taken me three years to get it back on track, And there's no way I will allow it to slip back into the dark ages." Kuvira said.
"I really don't like where this is going." Reznov said.
"What is she up to?" Sean asked.
"I'd like to make an announcement to the world as a whole. The Earth kingdom is no more. And from here on out, this man has no authority." Kuvira said shocking the audience and Wu.
"Wait, what? But I just got the royal Brooch!" Wu whined making Sean sigh holding his face.
"Stupid moron." Sean said making sure to watch the language around his kids.
"Idiot." Korra said feeling the same.
"I have created a new Earth Empire, and I will continue to lead it into the future myself, bringing about a new era of prosperity for my people." Kuvira said as her supporters cheered for her which was a lot compared to Wu's that was very small.
"What the heck is she doing?" Julia asked.
"Hold on." Sean said.
"And Let me assure my fellow leaders of one thing." Kuvira said grabbing the medal. "Anyone who crosses our borders or stands in our way will be crushed." Kuvira said as she crushed the medal making her supporters cheer.
"NO!" Wu yelled before stomping to Sean. "Your supposed to be this great warrior! I want you to remove her!" Wu yelled.
"I'm not a warrior anymore since three years ago. And even if I was I sure wouldn't do anything you asked." Sean said glaring at him.
"I AM A KING! NOW REMOVE HER!" Wu yelled.
"Get lost." Sean said.
"Such a loser." Junior said making his siblings nod before Wu grabbed a juice drink and threw it at the kids splashing them shocking everyone as they tried to get it out of their eyes.
"Aah." Junior said trying to get it out.
"Oh mother." Turok said pissed off grabbing a towel.
"HEY!" Sean roared getting in Wu's face who looked nervous. "You got some nerve. I would rather support Kuvira then some punk who throws a temper tantrum. My kids are more mature than you. And they sure as hell wouldn't act out like that." Sean said making him cower.
"What are you gonna do?" Wu asked nervous making him grin.
"Oh it's not me you gotta worry about. Regretfully I can't do anything violent...But she can." Sean said looking at his wife who for a better term looked royally pissed off as she cracked her knuckles.
"Oh no." Wu said before screaming as Korra Earth bended him in the stomach making him fall forward as she kicked him really hard in the face before airbending him into a wall hard knocking him out.
Sean shook his head before grabbing a towel and wiped off the juice off his daughter's face while Senna got the boys.
"You okay Sweetheart?" Sean asked making her nod.
"If I didn't hate that jerk before I really do now." Korra said using some water bending to wash her face.
"Lets just go home." Sean said as they left.
Later
"Well that was...Annoying." Reznov said.
"Kuvira's got my full support. I would rather support her than some fuck head who threw a drink at my kids like a little brat. Hell all three of them are far more mature." Sean said leaning against a wall.
"But her statement was a little...Concerning." Julia said.
"I'm sure she didn't mean that in a completely violent way. She just wants to show them she means business. And considering how Wu acted I'm sure everyone would rather support her than Wu since even she was ticked off about that stunt he pulled." Sean said before someone knocked on his door before he opened it showing Suyin. "Hey Suyin." Sean said letting her in.
"How are the kids?" Suyin asked concerned.
"They'll be fine. All I can say is Kuvira has my full support. I'd rather support her than a punk who had the nerve to do that to little kids." Sean said making her frown.
"You might want to rethink that." Suyin said.
"And why would I do that?" Sean asked.
"You haven't told him have you?" Suyin asked Reznov and Julia who shake their heads.
"Told me what?" Sean asked.
"Kuvira's tactics are...Similar to yours." Suyin said confusing him.
"Mine?" Sean asked.
"She means during your time as a Spartan Captain...Minus the killings." Julia said making him frown.
"She's actually conquering the Earth Kingdom?" Sean asked.
"Yes and doing things the same way you did almost 400 years ago. After Zaheer was locked away she started studying some of your history...Minus the last thing you did under Ares service. She studied your old tactics from the pages of history and she's using them now to conquer the Earth Kingdom. Those who don't support her are thrown into prison camps." Suyin said making him sigh.
"What do you want me to do about it? I can't fight anymore. My warrior spirit is gone. I tried my very best to get it back and nothing worked." Sean said.
"I'm not saying you should get involved. I'm just saying you should know whats she's done." Suyin said before leaving.
"Great. The person I'm supporting is making my mistakes." Sean said annoyed.
"Theres always gonna be someone in a new generation who repeats someones past." Reznov said.
"Hmm." Sean said before Korra came out.
"I got it all out of their eyes. I'm still pissed about what he did." Korra said.
"We're gonna head back to the island." Reznov said as the two left before Korra noticed Sean's concerned look.
"Whats wrong?" Korra asked walking to him.
"Suyin just stopped by to tell me about what Kuvira's been doing. She's using my old tactics when I was a Spartan Captain. She's actually conquering not uniting the Earth Kingdom." Sean said making her frown.
"And that bothers you." Korra said holding his hands.
"She's making the same damn mistakes I did. And I can't stop her." Sean said before she held his face.
"Sean it's gonna be ok. I'm sure things will work out perfectly fine." Korra said kissing him.
Later that night
Sean and Korra slept peacefully as he held her while the children were asleep in their room.
Thats when Sean found himself back at the Metal clan seeing a massive army with Kuvira's symbol before seeing her standing over Suyin.
Sean opened his eyes before sitting up rubbing his face.
"Whats wrong?" Korra asked sitting up to hold him.
"I just had a vision. Kuvira's gonna invade Suyin's home." Sean said shocking her.
Morning
"Are you absolutely sure?" Tenzin asked as they were in Raiko's office.
"My visions have never been wrong before. Athena sends most of them to warn me to stop something from happening. Thats how I knew Zaheer came after Korra both times and when Alrik came after her at the Eastern Air temple." Sean said.
"This is most troubling. If Kuvira takes the Metal clan she'll have full control of the Earth Kingdom and have the largest military in these lands." Raiko said.
"We'll get the united forces ready." Tenzin said.
"By the time you get them ready it'll be too late. Me, Korra and Tenzin's kids will go there and try to talk Kuvira out of this. Maybe she might at least listen to me." Sean said.
"Because her tactics are similar to yours?" Tenzin asked.
"Oh this is your fault as well." Raiko said making everyone glare at him.
"Do you want your life to be shortened even more?" Sean asked making him glare. "I didn't think so." Sean said.
Later
Sean, Korra and Tenzin's children were getting ready to leave on the Bison.
"Your leaving again?" Junior asked his father.
"Just for a little while. Theres something your mother and I have to do. Look out for your brother and Sister." Sean said.
"Ok." Junior said before Sean walked to Atreus.
"Don't worry we'll be back before you know it." Sean said ruffling his hair making him laugh before Sean walked to Katara who."Sweetheart?" Sean said but she said nothing making him sigh before walking away.
Katara's lips began to quiver before.
"Daddy." Katara cried making him freeze before turning to face her before she ran to him making him crouch before she ran into his arms. "Please don't go!" Katara cried.
"Shhh. It's okay. Listen, your mother and I have to go. Your Remember Suyin right?" Sean asked making her nod. "She's in trouble and we're going to help her. Once we get that done I promise we'll be right back." Sean said holding her face. "I am not leaving you or your brothers ever again. I promise." Sean said kissing her forehead.
Korra had small tears running down her eyes seeing the two reconnect.
The five soon left before Sean saw his wife's look.
"What?" Sean asked making her smile before laying her head on his chest.
"I knew she would forgive you soon enough." Korra said making him smile holding her close.
"All good things come in time." Sean said before closing his eyes.
