Chapter 49 Operation Beifong
Its been a week since The Spirit vine incident which have now calmed down. And since Korra faced Zaheer to forgive herself for what she did 4 years ago when Sean died. Now she was finally at peace again and connected to the Spirit world and Raava once more.
Currently They were asleep in bed before Sean woke up and found his wife in a white nightgown making him smile before seeing her holding Calliope in her arms who snored softly before finding Junior, Atreus and Katara in bed as well.
"Be thankful this is one big bed otherwise we'd never sleep." Korra said as she opened her eyes making him chuckle before kissing her as the kids woke up.
Soon the two were at Baldur's office.
"Please tell me you two geniuses have something useful." Baldur said looking at Varrick and Asami before the later pulled out some blue prints.
"It's a flying Mecha suit. Asami got the idea from watching dragonfly-humingbirds. You can take off straight up, fly in any direction." Varrick said.
"What about the Spirit weapons?" Baldur asked.
"Baldur we can't use those things. You saw how the vines reacted when Kuvira started harvesting them in the swamp." Korra said.
"Granted. Still that cannon is gonna put us at a disadvantage." Baldur said.
"If she has it operational yet. Which I very much doubt. It would take days maybe weeks before its fully ready." Reznov said.
"Which gives us time to gather our forces." Tenzin said.
"What about the spirits?" Korra asked.
"Oh please they didn't care about the hundred year war and I sure as hell doubt they care about this one. They don't get involved with human affairs." Sean said.
"I'm afraid he's correct." Tenzin said.
Soon enough everyone left before Sean and Korra were back on Airtemple island and saw Opal, Lin and Bolin getting supplies on Opal's bison Juicy. (Oh dear god!)
"What are you three up to?" Sean asked.
"We're going to save my family from Kuvira." Opal said making him frown.
"I'm coming with. If you run into Kuvira you'll need my help since none of you can handle her." Sean said.
"Be careful." Korra said kissing him.
"Don't worry I'll be fine." Sean said before getting on as they took off.
Later
Soon the four arrived outside of Zaofu.
"Home sweet home." Opal said before she noticed the domes of the city were taken off.
"She stripped the domes off." Lin said.
"The hell did she do that for?" Sean asked.
"Probably needs them for something." Lin said before taking a close look through a scope. "She's got a whole battalion of troops stationed there. There's no way we'll be able to spot anything useful from here. We'll have to go in for a closer look." Lin said.
"Don't bother."
Sean froze at that voice before turning and saw Toph.
"All the prisoners have been moved." Toph said.
"Oh man your still alive?" Sean asked annoyed making her chuckle.
"Nice to see you too muscle head. Looking better compared to the last time I saw you last year." Toph said.
"Uh, Hey, Chief." Lin said surprised.
"Hey, Chief." Toph said.
"Grandma Toph!" Opal said hugging her making her smile.
"You were only up to my waist the last time we were together." Toph said.
"Oh, Man! Oh, I can't!" Bolin tried to say had Sean not smashed his foot. "YEOW!" Bolin yelled.
"Don't act like a fangirl!" Sean said annoyed.
"What you have to pee or something?" Toph asked making Opal giggle.
"No he's a big fan of yours." Sean said.
"Oh that crap. Whats up with him?" Toph asked.
"He's an actor." Lin said making her snort. "So you already checked the city for Su?" Lin asked.
"How'd you even know she was captured?" Sean asked.
"Aren't you forgetting what I showed you in the swamp? I've kept a close eye through the vines. I even saw you killed Kuvira and her army last year. Not bad by the way and nice to see you got that cry baby out of your system pussy boy." Toph said making his eyes twitch in annoyance.
"Now I see why you don't talk about her." Sean said to Lin who smirked.
"You have no idea." Lin said.
"By the time I got here, they were already gone. I snooped around town and heard that they were taken away to some nearby prison camp." Toph said making Opal frown.
"Where would that be?" Opal asked Bolin who looked uncomfortable.
"SPILL!" Sean yelled in his ear making him yelp in shock making Sean chuckle. "Oh that never gets old." Sean said.
"Theres a factory and reeducation facility not too far away." Bolin said.
"And you know this how?" Toph asked.
"Bolin used to work for Kuvira." Opal said.
"He's always doing dumb shit. First he worked for the Triple threats because he needed money for the Pro bending tournament so he, Mako and Korra could play in the finals. Then he dated Eska who treated him like complete shit who thankfully died a virgin. And now this." Sean said grinning making Toph raise an eyebrow.
"And I thought Sokka did dumb shit during the hundred year war." Toph said making Sean chuckle before they went to Juicy.
"Grandma, this is juicy." Opal said.
"And I thought Appa was smelly. Why would you choose this leaky nasty thing?" Opal asked.
"You don't choose your Bison. He chooses you. And once he chooses you, you can't change. Believe me. I checked." Opal said.
Later
Juicy flew the group to the prison camp.
"So how long has it been since you two have seen each other?" Bolin asked.
"Little while now. Couple of years." Toph said.
"Try 20." Lin said.
"Jeez Lin. I can understand you not seeing Su for 30 years but damn." Sean said.
"Ah, time flies when you get to be my age." Toph said.
"I'm 400 years old and time moves very slowly." Sean said.
"Your immortal thats to be expected." Toph said.
"Fair." Sean said.
"I'm surprised Lin came to save Su. I thought you guys didn't get along." Toph said.
"They sorted out their differences 4 years by beating each other up." Sean said making her snort.
"I honestly can't say I'm surprised. I'm glad to see we finally put this all behind us." Toph said.
"Right...WE." Lin said making Sean raise an eyebrow.
Soon they landed.
"Okay, there's the factory." Bolin said.
They snuck into the factory before Toph Metal bended a way in just as some of Ares monsters walked by.
"Oh boy." Sean said seeing the weapon.
"What the hell is that?" Toph asked.
"Thats the super weapon Kuvira wants. Baatar Jr and Zhu-Li work fast." Sean said.
"I still my grandson is involved in this." Toph said disappointed before stomping her foot down. "I think I know where they are. Feel that Cavern a few stories down? It seems empty, but it's guarded by an awful lot of Mech." Toph said to Lin who stomps her foot down.
"Right. Why would you need soldiers guarding an empty cavern?" Lin asked.
"Simple. Their suspended above the ground so they can't bend. Clever. Say what you will but Kuvira is far from stupid. Makes the same mistakes I did sure but not stupid." Sean said.
That when the doors opened up and Kuvira walked in with two monsters guarding her.
"Hmm." Sean said glaring at her.
"I didn't expect you until tomorrow." Baatar said.
"I just wanted to check in to make sure everything was on track. It looks wonderful. Even Ares would be impressed." Kuvira said making Sean glare at her even more about to grab his blades.
"Don't do anything stupid." Toph said making him stop.
"We've had some minor malfunctions, but we should be ready for the test tomorrow." Baatar said making Kuvira look at Zhu-Li.
"You've been working on this the entire time, Zhu-Li. What do you think the problem is?" Kuvira asked.
"It's a very complex machine. Add to the fact we're using something thats never been attempted before...Theres bound to be some issues." Zhu-Li said.
"But you're doing everything you can to fix those, correct?" Kuvira asked.
"Of course." Zhu-Li said.
"She's lying." Toph said.
"If I had to guess she's trying to sabotage the weapon." Sean said.
"I knew it." Bolin said.
"Shut the hell up." Lin said making him shrink.
"Tell the troops and workers to attend tomorrow's demonstration. I want them all to witness this incredible new weapon in action." Kuvira said.
Thats when Sean and the others left.
They arrived back where Juicy was.
"We should be thinking of a way to take out Kuvira again while we have the chance." Opal said.
"Or at least destroy the cannon. If she takes that takes that to Republic city, it could obliterate everything." Bolin said.
"No. We don't have the numbers to take them all on. We came here to free Suyin and her family and the get the hell out. And I'm the only one here who can handle Kuvira. If we brought Korra things would have been different but she needed to stay and look out for Republic city and the kids." Sean said knowing Ares would try something. "Ok look tomorrow her forces will be watching the demonstration. We use that as an opportunity to go underground and save Suyin and her family." Sean said.
"HMPH! I guess your more than muscle after all." Toph said making his eyes twitch.
"Don't push it." Sean said.
Meanwhile
Korra laughed as she played with her youngest daughter who squealed in excitement as Korra used airbending to keep her in the air before catching her.
"Your not afraid of anything are you?" Korra asked rubbing her nose against her's making Calliope laugh.
"Honestly you really are mother material." Asami said walking to her.
"I can't help it if I have a more natural maternal gift." Korra said as Calliope yawned making her smile as she fell asleep in her arms.
"Can I?" Asami asked before Korra handed her to Asami who smiled.
"Thinking about having one?" Korra asked.
"Maybe after Kuvira and Ares are finally defeated sure." Asami said before Korra saw the look in her eyes.
"Whats wrong?" Korra asked.
"I've been visiting my father lately. We've...Finally started to reconnect...But I just can't stop remembering all the horrible things he did. Helping Amon and taking people's bending away. Even yours." Asami said.
"I got it back though and I gave the innocent benders back theirs. And it led to my relationship with Sean before we got married. So some good things came from it later." Korra said.
"I know but...How do you forgive someone like that?" Asami asked making Korra laugh. "What?" Asami asked confused.
"Asami, Incase you forgot Sean did some royally messed up things worse than your dad did. I didn't care because I saw the real him for 13 years of my life before we started dating. And even his own family forgave him and so did we. And besides you know Sean would encourage you to forgive him since he's all the family you have left. And coming from a guy who accidentally killed his own...He knows what he's talking about." Korra said making her smile softly as Calliope yawned in her arms making her giggle.
"Mmm. I guess thats true." Asami said.
Next day
Sean, Lin, Toph and Bolin were at the factory waiting for Opal to give them the signal to begin.
"The test is about to start. Their about to blow up that empty town we flew over yesterday." Opal said on the radio.
"Roger that." Sean said as they jumped down a hole.
Toph made a door seeing her family in a cell suspended above the ground.
"Impressive." Sean said.
"The guards are on the other side of that door. We'll have to be quiet." Toph said as Sean whistled loud enough for Su and her family to hear.
"Miss us?" Sean asked waving making her chuckle. "I can get over there using the wings I got from Icarus." Sean said.
"Right." Lin said as Sean flew over to the prison making it shake a little before Sean cut up a hole.
"Who's up for flying lessons?" Sean asked before grabbing Wei and threw him to the others where Bolin caught him.
Meanwhile
"Is the weapon ready?" Kuvira asked.
"Yes." Baatar said before he started powering it up before alarms went off. "Are you kidding me! I don't believe this!" Baatar yelled annoyed before seeing what the problem was. "Wait the distributor pin is gone. Thats not possible I locked it in last night." Baatar said.
"And this could cause the entire weapon to fail?" Kuvira asked.
"Explode is the correct term." Baatar said making her narrow her eyes before taking her blades out and aimed one at Zhu-Li making her gasp in shock.
"What do you know about this?" Kuvira asked.
"Nothing." Zhu-Li said before the pin floated out of her uniform making her widen her yes.
"Swearing your loyalty my ass. You just wanted to save your own skin." Kuvira said glaring at her.
"You were a monster before you were killed...Your nothing but a demon now." Zhu-Li said making her growl before aiming her blade at her neck.
"You know what? Why don't you have a hands on experience of the weapon you helped create." Kuvira said having some monsters drag her away.
Opal saw all this and frowned.
Meanwhile
"Dude will you just let go?" Sean asked as Baatar Senior wouldn't let go.
"No...Just go...I'll be fine." Baatar Senior said.
"Ok you forced my hand." Sean said wrapping his chain around his legs before throwing him.
"AHHHHHH!" Baatar Senior yelled.
"How is your the warrior in the family and he's the wimp?" Sean asked Suyin who shrugged with a smile before the Guards came out only for Sean to pull out the Bow of Apollo and fired at them killing them. "TIME TO GO!" Sean yelled as they flew to the others.
Heading topside Opal landed in front of them before blowing a silent whistle to signal Juicy.
"Mom! Dad!" Opal said hugging them. "Thank you." Opal said to Bolin making him smile.
"Lets get going." Lin said.
"Kuvira caught Zhu-Li and threw her in the town." Opal said.
"Why?" Suyin asked.
"Because she was sabotaging the weapon." Opal said.
"Ah damnit! Bolin you and Opal go save her. We're gonna try and take out Kuvira and that weapon." Sean said.
"I'm not risking my butt to fight Kuvira or take out a super weapon." Toph said.
"Then stay here." Sean said rushing off.
Kuvira grinned as Baatar was about to test his weapon but when he used a scope to look at the town he widened his eyes seeing his sister.
"Opal? No. We have to stop the test!" Baatar said only for the cannon to top making the cannon tip upwards and fire at the mountain destroying it.
"What was..." Kuvira tried to say before a chain wrapped around her before swinging her around making her growl before freeing herself before seeing Sean who glared at her.
"Hello Kuvira." Sean said making her grin before taking out her blades before they charged at each other.
Lin and her sister used Earth bending to take out her troops before larger monsters appeared.
"What are these things?" Suyin asked.
"Servants of Ares. Who do you think brought her back from the dead?" Lin asked making her frown.
Sean roared as he slammed his fists down on the ground narrowly missing Kuvira before she swung her blades at him and nearly cut his armor had he not used the Golden Fleece to block it and direct it back at her making her growl.
"You may use the blades of Exile well but I have more than just the blades of Chaos." Sean said equipping the Blade of Olympus making Kuvira widen her eyes remembering her last experience with it making him smirk.
"Your still afraid of this blade aren't you?" Sean mocked making her roar in rage before swinging her blades around wildly but he dodged with ease.
"I FEAR NOTHING!" Kuvira yelled before she cut him in the arm making him grunt in pain before jumping back. "I'm gonna enjoy killing you!" Kuvira yelled as she charged at him only to yell as the ground sent a wave of earth at her making her look seeing Toph and her family before Opal flew to them as Sean jumped over to them.
"You give metal benders a bad name!" Toph said pointing at her making her growl as they flew away.
"THIS ISN'T OVER KRUGER YOU HEAR ME! THIS ISN'T OVER!" Kuvira roared.
"Whatever." Sean said.
Later
Korra laughed as her kids were training using waterbending before Katara turned the water to ice freezing her brothers in place.
"I win!" Katara cheered making Korra laugh.
"Honey thats not fair at all." Korra said before Juicy flew to the island before landing as Sean jumped off.
"Daddy!" Katara yelled jumping into his arms making him laugh.
"Hello sweetheart." Sean said kissing her head.
"Is anyone gonna unfreeze us!" Junior yelled making Korra giggle before unfreezing them.
"Glad to see...Your bleeding." Korra said seeing his left arm with blood.
"Hmm. I got that from Kuvira. Don't worry it's nothing." Sean said putting Katara down before Korra used water bending to heal it.
"So you got Suyin and her family back." Korra said smiling.
"And had another annoying encounter with Toph. I swear how anyone fell in love with that woman is beyond me." Sean said with his eyes twitching making her giggle before kissing him.
"I'm just glad your safe again." Korra said holding him close.
"I'm afraid things are only going to get worse." Zhu-Li said approaching them.
"What do you mean?" Korra asked.
"Kuvira is going to attack Republic City in 3 weeks." Zhu-Li said making them frown while holding the kids close.
Authors Note: And now Suyin and her family are safe. Now Next Chapter will take a little while since it's gonna be huge. I'm very sad that we're near the end of this story since I had a lot of fun with this one and it's gonna be the second story I've ever finished in such a short time.
