Mommy's Mine

Summary: AU-ish. Post-musical. While shopping for clothes for her and Fiyero's newborn baby girl, Elphaba finds that her son can be just a tad possessive, just like his father.

Rating: K+

Inspiration: My teacher's son. He had the cutest voice ever haha.

"That one, Mommy?" Kaiden tugged on his mother's black dress and pointed at a yellow dress.

Elphaba looked in the direction that her five year old son was pointing to and saw the dress he'd pointed out. She smiled down at him and walked with him towards it.

"That's much too big for Delilah, baby. Don't you think?" the green woman carefully raised the sleeping one-month old baby girl in her arms and showed Kaiden just how big the dress was compared to his little sister. "Look at the other clothes we already picked out," she gestured to the medium sized basket he was carrying, "look for something that big. Ok?"

"Ok, Mommy."

Elphaba readjusted the bag with Delilah's diapers and food on her shoulder and walked along the aisles, making sure Kaiden was always by her side and keeping an eye out for if she saw Fiyero return. Their son had gotten hungry after twenty minutes of being at the store, so he went to a nearby shop to buy him a small snack. She smiled and shook her head, that boy had the appetite of his father, she wouldn't be surprised if she saw her husband return with a snack for himself too.

They reached the back of the store and Elphaba was about to move to another section when she felt another tug at her dress. "Mommy, that one?" he pointed at the wall.

Elphaba saw the onesie that had caught his attention. "Hmm," it looked about Delilah's size and was a pastel purple, "that's actually cute," she rubbed her son's cheek and walked over to it. It was actually hung up on the wall well past the point where she could reach.

"Need some help, Miss?" Elphaba turned to the side. A young man with red hair; a worker of the store, she gathered due to his attire; approached them.

"Yes, the purple onesie, please," she pointed to it.

"Pwupoo," Kaiden tried out and Elphaba laughed softly.

"No problem," he smiled at her and grabbed a hook attached to a pole. He hooked it to the hanger and brought the small clothing down.

"Thank you," she grabbed the onesie off the hook.

"You're welcome," he said, "Are you from around here? I've never seen you before."

"I think you would remember someone with green skin," she laughed and the man flushed, Elphaba carefully held the onesie over her baby, who was starting to open her eyes. "No, we don't come here often," she answered.

The purple seemed to compliment Delilah's blue eyes. She was all Fiyero with Elphaba's black hair; interestingly enough, Kaiden looked more like her and had his father's blonde hair.

"Do you need any more help, ma'am?"

"I think I'm good," she looked at the man, "thanks again."

"You're welcome. I uh…I don't think I got your name," he rubbed his neck.

Elphaba looked at him curiously. Why was he so interested in her? Was he possibly from Oz? She pulled Kaiden and Delilah closer and out of sight and turned back to look at the clothes. "Um," she started cautiously, not sure where to go from there. Where was Fiyero?

"Mommy's name's Lefaba," Kaiden answered, stepping in between her and the man, getting a bit agitated; he seemed to sense his mommy was a bit tense. It made him want to protect her and his baby sister.

Elphaba pulled her son in front of her again and turned back to look at the man. "I'm Fae," she decided to go with Fiyero's nickname for her.

"I'm Tris," he reached out to shake her hand.

Kaiden intervened again. He stepped in between them. "No touch Mommy, or Deiah,"

"Kay," Elphaba whispered, gently pulling him in front of her again. She tried to walk away but he just followed her. He kept asking her questions about herself and it had started to scare her. Did he know about the Wicked Witch of the West?

She walked a little bit faster.

"Fae, I don't mean to frighten you. Sorry if I'm prying too much," Tris said softly, keeping more space in between them to avoid scaring her.

Elphaba relaxed a bit, but still kept her guard up. "Sorry, I'm just a bit wary about strangers," it wasn't a lie, but she wasn't about to tell him the whole truth.

He nodded understandably. "I get that. Do you think I might see you around some time?"

Elphaba went back to looking at the other clothes hanging on the wall. "Probably not, we don't live close to here," was it her, or was he staring a bit too much for comfort?

Tris nodded again; wishing this interesting woman would at least turn her gaze towards him. "I see, any chance I could find a way to keep you around a while lo-"

"Why you keep looking at my mommy?" Kaiden noticed.

Elphaba's eyes widened and she looked down at her son in shock, too shocked to say anything to him.

"She's a beautiful girl, buddy; and if you're both ok with it, I'd like to take her out sometime, maybe get to know you properly," he directed that last part to her. Elphaba turned to his direction and her eyes widened even more, but then she relaxed completely.

She sighed softly and shook her head. "No," she held back a laugh.

"Oh" he quickly glanced at her children, "is it complicated because of..." he whispered.

"Mommy's mine," Kaiden said.

Tris kneeled down to him and Elphaba bit her lower lip. Did he really not-

Oh this was going to be interesting.

"Buddy, Mommy is always gonna be yours," he reassured.

"Not youwrs," her son's grip on her tightened, "Mommy's mine and my sistwers," he raised his finger, "and daddy's."

"You bet Kay," Fiyero said. Elphaba smiled widely.

Tris stood up and turned around wide eyed. "Um…"

"Daddy!" Kaiden let go of Elphaba and the basket and ran to Fiyero who was a couple feet away with two bags of chips in his hand.

She'd laid eyes on him when the man had mentioned he wanted to take her out, but she had a feeling he'd probably heard much more.

"Daddy, pwease don't let him take Mommy," their son begged his father.

Fiyero chuckled and rubbed his son's head. "Don't worry, Kay," he let his son take the snack he'd asked for, and picked him up, "like you said, Mommy's ours."

Fiyero walked over to his wife, completely ignoring the store worker and planted a soft kiss on her lips.

"Find anything else, sweetheart?" he touched his daughter's head softly.

"Kay did, actually," she held up the onesie to him, "What do you think of this?"

"I like it, compliments her eyes," he smiled.

"I thought so too."

Fiyero set Kaiden down. "Ready to go then?"

"Mhm," she nodded.

"I can take everything to check out for you," Tris quickly offered. Fiyero handed him the basket, trying not to laugh when Tris wouldn't even look him in the eyes.

Once he was out of ear shot, he and Elphaba couldn't keep it together anymore.

"Well that was interesting," she said in between laughs. She lightly rocked Delilah, she had started to fuss a bit. "How long had you been here?"

"Ever since 'Fae, I don't mean to frighten you'," he raised his voice a pitch, making Elphaba giggle. "How did you not pick up on where he was going? And for that matter why'd he call you 'Fae'?" Fiyero held Kaiden's hand and wrapped his arm around Elphaba's shoulders. They walked to the front of the store.

"I didn't wanna tell him my real name. And the only other time a man was delusional enough to ask me out he screamed 'will you go out with me?' in my face," she laughed.

After paying and exiting the store with a bag, Fiyero shrugged at her. "What can I say, darling? You make a man lose all rational thought."

"Not too hard if there's none to begin with."

"Haha," they laughed and he kissed her forehead.

The family walked to a park nearby and sat at a wooden table so both their little ones could eat. Kaiden settled on the grass, eating his bag of chips; Fiyero helped place a blanket over Elphaba and Delilah so that Elphaba could breastfeed comfortably.

"He's right you know," Fiyero said.

Elphaba, who'd been resting her head on his shoulder, turned to look up at him, a questioning look on her face.

"Kaiden," he clarified, "mommy's mine," he whispered.

She smiled and they kissed softly, pulling apart when kaiden had had enough of being left out and wanted to sit in between them.

As I was thinking about a baby girl name, "Hey There Delilah" started playing and I thought, perfect!
