Izuku turned over in his bed. Today had been another average day at school. The same kids making a ruckus in class while only a few others were actually trying to learn. As usual, they kept on until Kacchan yelled at them and they shut up for the rest of class, then start up again the next one and repeat.
After school, he went to the gym with Bakugo, where they exercised and then went home to spar. Bakugo had been pushing both of them harder ever since they started third year. It was like the UA exams were looming over them. Even though Kacchan was confident in them, he still never let Izuku skip a day of training.
Izuku understood why, but he couldn't help but get exhausted from training sometimes, he didn't know how Kacchan had the stamina to do it every day, but he hoped one day to get that level of stamina.
The main thing Izuku's good at is analysis. It's helped him in his time of need and led him to find some interesting people. It's also why he's in this particular...discussion.

The next day Izuku wakes up early to study a bit more. Even with Bakugo's faith in him, he still wants to go over at least one more time. He eats breakfast and nearly faceplants in his cereal. The punishment for staying up late. He manages to keep his head away from too much of the dairy products (take that Bakugo) and finish his breakfast. The cold milk manages to wake him up a bit more and stop him from performing any more spectacular head acrobatics for the day.
He's about to walk outside the house when a hand stops him.
"You almost didn't say goodbye." His mom says as she turns him around.
"Sorry mom, I'm just a bit tired." He says
"Oh don't worry, I caught you just in time," she says as she fixes his outfit, which he haphazardly threw on. "Have a good day!"
"You too!" He says back as he walks away.
"And good luck on your test!" she calls after him.
When he gets to school, Izuku slows down to a stop in front of the building. Then he squares his shoulders and goes in, accompanied by the stream of students walking alongside him to school.
The day passes normally, except for the test they had in the afternoon. Midoriya left the classroom and sat in an empty classroom to do his test, as he did for every other one. The teachers didn't want him to be able to know what everyone else was writing, and he agreed with them, which is why he had brought up the issue of his quirk during tests at all. Had he not, no one but Kacchan would have probably realized the implications of him being next to other test takers during the same test could give him an unfair advantage.
He finished it quickly, and had to agree with Kacchan; he had learned a lot for it, and he really should stop getting stressed about small things like tests, and conversations, and talking to cute boys- and oh my god there he goes thinking about cute boys again.
He covered his face as it started to heat up. He really needed to get it under control. The only good looking boy he could talk to intelligently (and not just blubbering as Kacchan felt the need to remind him) was Kacchan, and that was only because they've been best friends for almost their entire lives, and he couldn't see him in any other way.
He exited the building and saw that Kacchan had been waiting for him by the entrance. He nodded his head in a slight way which was his way of asking Izuku to come talk.
"How was the test, Kacchan?" Izuku asked as he got closer.
"Psh, easy. And it was for you too."
"Yeah, Yeah. "I told you you didn't have to worry". I get it." He snarked back
Kacchan smirked. "And you still won't listen to me when I tell you, will you?"
Izuku smiled back. "You know me. Always worrying about everything."
Kacchan's smirk dropped to a light frown.
"About that, I was thinking, from tomorrow, we should up our training"
"How?"
"We need to improve our fighting ability, and no offence, but we can't do it in your backyard. As much as I want to spar with you for real, Auntie Inko will kill me if I burn some of her plants."
"So what do you suggest?"
"Well, I asked the server how the others would practice using their quirks if they couldn't practice at home, and they suggested finding some abandoned area where no one goes, so that no one will know about us using our quirks, and no one will mind if a few things get broken. So I looked up for any places like that in our area, and guess what I found."
He showed Izuku his phone. On it was a picture of a trash covered beach.
"Oh, that's Dagoba Beach! The currents pushes garbage from the sea to wash upthere and it used to be really nice but now no one really- ohhhh."
"So you understand. Good. We're going there every day until we get into UA."
Izuku thinks that Kacchan gets lots of pleasure from watching Izuku's face change to a look of sheer terror, as evident by the growing smirk on his face.
"E-e-every day?" Izuku asked shakingly, dreading the answer but knowing there would be no way for him to escape his impending doom, "w-what will we even do there?"
Kacchan's smirk grew to epic proportions. "Spar for real"
He cracked his knuckles, and Izuku already knew that he'd be getting home bruised tonight.

Izuku got home two hours later, dead on his feet.
He and Kacchan had first cleared garbage away from a more secluded area of the beach, where they knew no one passing by would see or hear them training/sparring. Then they got to sparring. Kacchan won most of the matches, but Izuku managed to get in a few. Knowing what Bakugo was going to do only helped if he could act on the knowledge. He didn't have much strength to begin with, which is why Kacchan had insisted on Izuku going to the gym with him, and then spar with him now.
Izuku really appreciated all the things that his explosive friend made him do and did for him, but he wished most of them didn't end up with Izuku getting home feeling like his legs would collapse under him and he wouldn't mind joining them on the floor.
He ate dinner and went to his room to go write a bit more in his notes. He finished that, and then went on to Discord, seeing as he was too busy earlier to go on and talk.

Izuku put down his phone with a sigh and laid it down on his nightstand. He closed his eyes, grateful for his friends and all their encouraging words, and was both excited and deeply dreading the coming months of training.

At first they thought nothing of it.
When Izuku somehow knew where they were hiding when playing hide and seek.
When Izuku stopped at an indiscriminate part of the sand box and dug up some coins that he had no way of seeing.
When Izuku hit a mosquito that had been so small no one else noticed and was about to bite Kacchan.
But they started to notice when things like that kept happening.
The kids at his school started to wonder if Izuku could see everything. Every time he passed a hiding spot when they played hide and go seek he found them.
Inko was delighted with Izuku's unexplained knowledge. She thanked him every time he found something she lost without having to look through everything, but just walking around the house. After a while, she understood that it wasn't a natural talent that a child develops, but instead it was probably Izuku's quirk.

She was sure. By now it had already been a few weeks, and she was almost 100% sure that Izuku had a quirk. But she wanted to be completely sure before she told Izuku, because if she was wrong she couldn't stand to see him disappointed.
But she had a plan of how to find out.
"Izuku honey, can you help me with something?"
"What do you need help with?"
"I want to do an experiment, and I need your help to do it."
"Ok"
"Ok, so I want you to walk out of the room and close your eyes. When I tell you to, come back in but don't open your eyes, ok?"
"Ok!" Izuku walked out of the room, excited to help his mom with the experiment.
"You can come back in now! And remember, keep your eyes closed." She called after a few moments.
Izuku walked back in with his eyes closed.
"Ok Izuku, what am I holding in my hands?" Inko had her hands behind her back and in them she had two different All Might plushies.
Izuku walked a bit closer to her. "Em, you're holding my All Might plushies, right? A big one and a small one."
"That's right Izuku! Now, last question, in which hand is each?"
"The big one is in your left hand behind your back and the small one in your right hand behind your back."
"That's amazing Izuku!" She said as she scooped him up in her arms and hugged him.
"So what was the experiment for?" Izuku asked.
"To see if you have a quirk! And you do!" Inko said, almost yelling from excitement.
"I do?! Really?!" He yelled back just as excited.
"Yes! And I think I know what it is!"
"What is it?"
"I think you know everything around you!"
Izuku calmed down a bit at that.
"What do you mean?"
"You probably don't realize it because you're used to it, but people can't just know what's behind other people's backs with their eyes closed."
"Really?"
"Yeah! If you put something behind your back, I wouldn't be able to see it and I wouldn't know that it's there."
"Really?! That's so weird."
Izuku then went to pick up a pillow that was bigger than himself from the couch and put it behind his back.
"So you can't see the pillow now?"
"Pfft, that's not how it works honey. It has to be smaller than you."
She went over to him and put the small All Might plush behind his back.
"Now I can't see it."
Izuku's eyes shone.
"So if I just put things behind me no one will be able to see them?"
"Not just then. You can also put things in your pocket, or your in your bag, or just put it behind other things and then most people won't know that it's there. Same with people and yourself, if you're standing behind a big rock, then people on the other side of that rock won't be able to see you."
At this point you could almost see the stars in Izuku's eyes.
"Ok, we'll have a ton of time to do experiments later, but now we'll have to see a quirk counselor to make sure, and then we'll get it registered," Inko told him.
Later that day, after they had confirmed Izuku's quirk and registered it, they experimented for hours, and even after his bedtime, Izuku was too excited to sleep and stayed awake trying out things until he got too tired and promptly fell asleep on the couch.

The next day Izuku told Kacchan about his quirk.
"So all you can do is know where things are?" Kacchan said when Izuku was done explaining.
"Well, yeah, but it can actually really help with being a Pro-Hero!"
"How?"
"Well, for one, I can know where people are if there's a disaster or there's a fog or smoke that wouldn't let anyone else see. And I'll be able to know in what condition they're in."
"Hmph, still not that good."
"Well, I can also know where the enemy is if they're next to me, and they wouldn't be able to hide anything from me."
"That's... actually sort of useful." Kacchan's voice slowly lost its venom. "Anything else useful you can do with it?"
"Em, well, I can also react faster to things, cause I'll know that they're coming before anyone else will. That can help me with fighting and stuff."
"Ok.."
Now Kacchan was looking thoughtful, trying to think hard how much that would help with being a pro-hero and if that makes Izuku's quirk better than his.
"I'm also not done testing all the things I can do with it, so there might be more stuff."
"Fine, you have a pretty cool quirk. Still not as good as mine, but good enough."
Izuku beamed at that. Kacchan's voice had lost its venom completely now.
"Let's go play Hero and Villain! I can't wait to see your quirk in action!"
"Em, Kacchan, we have school now."
Kacchan seemed startled by that, and he looked around as if just noticing they were standing outside of their kindergarten.
They went in, already making plans to go over to Kacchan's house to play afterward.
