The rest of the first set went by in a blur of Kou and I spiking, Kuroo blocking, and Noya receiving. We won the first set 25-15, we had a ten point gap. The second set went as quickly as the last, but the third set went slowly.
You might expect me to be panting, breathless. But in truth, I had never actually given up the sport. I continued playing in case I truly did still love the game, and I played for my close friends and brother.
This game was just an endless loop it felt. They spike, we receive, we spike and land a point, we spike, they receive, they land a point. It went on until the thirties, sweat not breaking out on my face just yet.
Across the net, I could see the tall ass guy nodding to a short ginger dude and I figured what they were going to do next, the special quick attack I had heard about from Kou.
I saw him jump and I raced to the ball, making a simple receive. I was going to have a slight bruise, I could feel it. I could feel stares, yet again, piercing daggers through my back.
"Are you just going to stand there? The ball is in the air! Go! Go! Go!" I said, annoyed.
Noya ran up and received the ball as I ran up and hit the ball, ending the game as were two points ahead of them.
"How did you do that?" Noya asked as he jumped in the air excitedly.
"You're gonna need a much harder ball for me to get than that, I could read you two like an open book." I replied bluntly, pointing at the two I was referring to.
Noya bent down on the ground, bowing to me, declaring me a "beautiful volleyball goddess" and their captain apologised dearly to me for Noya. I shrugged it off and went over to Kou, Kuroo, and Kenny.
"Hey, hey, hey." I say as I walk over to them. I received three "hey"'s in return.
"Hey, I'm just asking, why did you quit volleyball when you're so good?" Kuroo asked.
"Well, I never actually gave it up. I still play volleyball at Fukurodani, I just don't love it. I mean, I enjoy it, but I just don't feel any exhilaration or passion for it anymore." I say as I grab a water bottle.
My phone vibrates in my pocket, and I open it up.
"Who is it?" Kou asks.
"Oh, it's my group chat." I reply.
"What did they want?" Kou asks. I shrug again.
"Well, Aiya's birthday is next week Wednesday and Em and I are planning on going down to Aoba Johsai to surprise her for her birthday."
"Isn't Aoba Johsai down in Miyagi though? It's like a five hour drive."
"Well, technically, yes, but when you're riding down with Ember, it only takes like an hour, trust me." I answer as I sweat-drop slightly.
I turned and started heading out of the gym when a short-ish ginger-haired first year blocked my way.
"You're really good! I'm Shoyo Hinata, first year" He exclaimed.
"Umm, thanks? I'm Arisu Bokuto, third year."
"So you two are twins?" He asked.
"No, I'm actually a year younger than him, I just got moved up to third year because second year wasn't challenging enough for me, now if you don't mind I kinda need to go somewhere." I said as I made my quick escape out of the gym.
I walked into the room where Kou had dumped all of my stuff and grabbed my phone to call Ember.
"Hey, what's up?"
"Hey Em! I have an idea."
"Hey, couch Nekomata, I have an idea." I said as I walked up to him.
"And what might that be?"
"Well, I figured, since we have an uneven amount of teams here, and it's the second day of the training camp, I could bring Fukurodani's girls team down, they are all willing to do it."
"That would be a great idea."
"Great, thank you so much, they will be here any minute now." I said as I walked off.
"Boys, a girls volleyball team have agreed to come down here to play matches with you and help out. You better be prepared, they won't go easy on you!" Couch Nekomata said with a mischievous grin plastered on his face.
"We are facing off against the great on." Noya and the buzzcut said as they were praying on their knees in front of me.
"If you want her that badly, you're gon' have to go through me." I smiled as Ember had entered the facility.
"Hope ya don't mind, but I kinda brought back-up from down under 'cuz we were short a couple members. I even brought along the baby" As Ember said this, Yua entered the gym.
"My Baby!" I yelled as I ran up to hug her.
"Will you please stop calling me that. I'm only a few months younger than Yoko."
"Arisu, you wont believe it. Our little baby has a boyfriend." Ember teased.
"Our little baby is growing up!" I said as fake tears ran down my face and my hands were clasped together in a praying motion.
"HAHA! I've missed you guys picking on the team baby!" My eyes went wide as Aki surfaced into the gym.
"AKI! I thought you and Yoko were on my side!"
"That was until we both realised how fun it is pestering you." Yoko said as she too entered.
"Okay, where are Ami and Aiya? We are only missing those two, and then we can play!"
"Okay, well, those two lazy asses are in shock after I drove them all the way down here with Yua-"
"The only reason Aiya is slightly flustered is because you drive like a psychopath on your damn motorcycle!" Ami interrupted.
"Aiya is right here, and over her daze from your reckless driving!"
"If it weren't for my driving then those two wouldn't have gotten down here within the hour!" Ember yelled.
"Okay, guys, cool it down. Introduce yourselves to the guys." I said as I gestured my head to all the guys in the room. They, of course, were all staring at us because of the loud entrance.
A chorus of "Sorry" echoed through the gym from the six airheads behind me.
"My name is Ember Nakajima, I'm a setter."
"My name is Yua Hayashi, I'm a libero."
"I'm Yoko Aoyama, I'm a middle blocker."
"I am Ami Miyagawa, I play wing spiker."
"I'm Aki Fujikawa, I play middle blocker too"
"Aiya Hamada, nice to make your acquaintance, I play as an all rounder, just in case anyone ever needs to sub out."
We all head to different courts, but we need to warm-up first. We all stretch and head to the court, I can feel the anticipation radiating off of everyone, anticipation that I cannot reciprocate.
"Earlier I heard you talking about how our baby is all grown up. What's that about?" Aiya asks.
"Well, little Yua has herself a boyfriend." I snicker.
"He's not my boyfriend!" Yua interjects.
"Well you certainly were drooling all over him. I believe your exact words to describe him were 'Hot, so very, very hot.' Then when you realised I was listening you turned red as a tomato!" Em laughs as Yua, true to Ember's words, is turning red as a tomato.
We played against Ubugawa first and won the set 10-25, meaning they had to do a penalty lap. Then we played Karasuno, we won that set too, 5-25. Just after they finished their penalty, all of us girls listened in to their conversation.
"Okay, guys, you just got your asses handed to you! What happened?" Their couch asked. Kageyama raised his hand.
"It's not that we're bad, it's that they are really good."
"You're right Kageyama. Tell me, do any of you recognise them?" The coach asked again.
Only two people raised their hands, a silver haired guy and Noya. The silver haired setter was the one to answer.
"Well, if you didn't already know, they are ranked in the top three female teams in Japan, by themselves any of their players could beat us alone, especially Arisu, Arisu is ranked in the top three female aces, too. That's why they are such a strong team, because they are strong as individuals, but they are all stronger as a collective because of their unbreaking bond of trust with one another."
The team turned to us and Kageyama asked;"Is this true? Are you really in the top three teams and in the top three aces?"
"Yeah. I'm sure some of you might recognise us from volleyball monthly. We all appear basically as often as that pretty boy Aiya always hangs out with."
"Doesn't Oikawa live down in Miyagi though?"
"So do I." Aiya says
"Whenever the volleyball tournament comes around, Aiya and Yua come down from Miyagi to Tokyo so they can play for Fukurodani with us. To be honest we technically can have our future career set in stone together if we wanted."
Dinner came by in a flash and the 'super seven' as Yoko liked to call it all sat down on a table with Kou and some of his friends.
"Hey, I gotta ask, do you guys still use those ridiculous nicknames? Cuz I still like to be known as the Breaker!" Aiya said proudly
"Umm, you were only nicknamed that cuz you broke Ami a while back during a practice, and yes we all still go by our nicknames."
"Wait, you guys have nicknames for each other?" Kuroo asked.
"Yea, Yoko likes to call us the super seven, which we never agreed on, Aiya is known as the Breaker because she always finds a way to break Ami, Ember and Arisu are known as the Double Homicide Duo, Ami is known as the great entrance because she is always so over-the-top, Yua is known as the Baby because she is the youngest the shortest and the most immature, Aki is known as the Dad, and I am known as the Mom." Yoko said as though it were the most obvious thing in the world.
"Wait, why is little Arisu known as one of the double homicides?"Kuroo asks. We all break out in laughter. Ami, Aiya and Yoko are rolling on the floor in laughter, Aki is laughing so hard she's wheezing, Ember and I are clutching our stomachs from laughing so hard and Yua is just straight out crying from laughter, oh what a baby she is.
"Long story." Yua says as in between laughs.

- Ember has a motorcycle and drives so fast she can get from Tokyo to Miyagi in an hour, if she were to get in an accident during this ride she would get seriously hurt
