"No. No!"

Krauser shrieked, driving his fist into the heart monitor. He destroyed every piece of equipment in the room, creating a flurry of sparks and medical papers slowly falling to the floor like feathers. He collapsed at Leon's side, staring into his lifeless emerald eyes.

"I'm sorry, Leon. I couldn't save you."

Ashley came running into the room.

"What happened?! Leon!" Ashley cried as she saw the scene, burying her face in her hands.

"It wasn't supposed to end like this! You were supposed to rescue me and take me back home, and you could finally have your vacation..!" The blond girl wailed uncontrollably. Krauser felt nothing, his eyes staring at Leon's limp hand hanging towards the floor.

"Goodbye, Leon."

Leon couldn't move. He was completely immobilized, swimming in a sea of darkness. It was somehow relaxing, and let himself sink further into the abyss. Was he finally dead? Or just somewhere in between? Regardless, the complete absence of pain and fear was the most amazing thing he'd ever felt.

"Come back to me... Leon..."

"Words drifted in and out of earshot. Who was talking? One, no, two people. A girl, who was crying, and a guy, whose voice was trembling.

"...time to go... have to leave..."

"No! I won't... leave... behind."

"Goodbye... Leon..."

'So, you're just going to give up then? After everything?' That voice. Luis. Leon opened his eyes, saw the Spaniard standing before him in the expanse of black.

"Luis... but you're..."

"Dead? Si, amigo. But it's not your time yet. We will meet again, I'm sure of it." The Spaniard turned, walking into the darkness.

"Luis! Wait!" Leon cried out.

"Wait!"

Krauser froze in the doorway, barely hearing the raspy whisper. He turned in disbelief to see Leon alive, arm outstretched towards him shakily. He rushed to the agents side, making quick work of his bindings.

"Leon, thank goodness!" Ashley hugged him hard, eliciting a groan of pain from the agent.

"Well aren't you a sight for sore eyes..." Leon said, forcing a weak smile and hugging her in return.

"Stay still, I have to patch you up properly before we continue." Krauser produced a can of first aid spray and some bandage. He thoroughly sprayed the incision in the agents back and the worst of his wounds before using up the entire roll of bandage as best he could.

Leon swung his legs over the edge of the table and stood shakily. He finally met Krauser's eyes, which for the first time he'd seen, were shining with unshed tears.

"You saved my life again." Leon said matter of factly.

Krauser scoffed like it wasn't a big deal. Leon walked up to him.

"What I was going to say before Wesker, well... I still love you."

Ashley gasped, completely ruining the moment.

"You two are a thing? Oh my god! No wonder you kept turning me down!" The blond girl huffed and Leon laughed, genuinely laughed for the first time in he didn't know how long. He met Krauser's gaze again, leaned in and kissed him hard. Muscled arms wrapped around Leon, pulling their bodies flush together. Their tongues swirled together, fighting for dominance. When they finally pulled apart, both men were panting softly, their breath mingling together.

"The sudden flashing of red lights and a blaring alarm sounded. "ISLAND WILL DETONATE IN FIFTEEN MINUTES."

"We have to go! Wesker's activated the fail safe. This whole place is going to be underwater!" Krauser shouted over the noise. "There's a boat at the dock on the east side of the compound. We can make it if we run!"

Krauser led the way, with Ashley close behind and Leon taking up the rear. They ran through a maze of buildings and ruins, encountering several Las Plagas on the way. Krauser drew his pistol and began making quick work of them.

"ISLAND WILL DETONATE IN TEN MINUTES."

"There's an elevator that'll take us down to the docks on the far side of that machinery." Krauser tossed Ashley the key.

"We'll cover you. Run as fast as you can, get to the boat, and get it ready okay?" Leon looked into her eyes and she nodded.

"You can count on me!"

"Ok, go!"

Ashley ran. Leon followed close behind her. One of the Las Plagas got to close and he drew his knife, throwing it between the creatures eyes and killing it. The sound of Krauser's bullets echoed behind them steadily. They made it to the large, metal elevator that was meant for moving machinery. Ashley ran in and Leon stopped, waiting for Krauser. He'd killed all the Las Plagas and was making his way toward them when an explosion went off between them, creating a huge black cloud of smoke. He could just make out a second form.

"Jack!"

Leon turned back to Ashley, hitting the down button on the elevator. The doors started to close.

"Get the boat ready, I need to help him! If we don't make it there by the last minute, you need to leave!"

"Leon! I wont leave without you!" Ashley banged on the elevator. He stepped back and watched it begin to descend before turning and running through the smoke.

"Wesker! This ends here." Leon growled. Both Krauser and Wesker turned. Wesker's demonic eyes burned into his own.

"I must say, you really are all looks. You should have left when you had the chance. Now you're going to die."

"Think again, Wesker!" Krauser lunged at the blond while he was distracted, taking him to the ground. Leon ran towards them as Wesker threw Krauser off him, sending him colliding with several flammable barrels, spilling dozens of gallons of gasoline over the ground.

"ISLAND WILL DETONATE IN 5 MINUTES."

Leon jumped on Wesker's back, attempting to get a firm choke hold on the tyrant. Wesker threw them backwards, crushing Leon into the wall. He cried out in pain and lost his hold, Wesker flipping the agent over him and smashing him into the ground.

Leon screamed with the audible crack of bone breaking as Wesker drove his foot down on the agents arm. His breath hitched and he writhed beneath Wesker. Three gunshots tore into Wesker's chest, causing the tyrant to take a few steps back. Leon crawled back, putting space between them.

Wesker vanished, appearing before Krauser and kicking him in the chest. He dropped his pistol and staggered back towards the edge of the platform. Leon stood and ran towards them as fast as he could, the gun in his sights.

Krauser swung his bladed arm, narrowly missing Wesker's throat as he leaned back. The tyrant trusted his hand out, grabbing Krauser by the throat with crushing force. Leon grabbed the gun, running and taking aim at Wesker. Leon fired, the bullet hitting Wesker in the back of the head. The tyrant staggered and Leon ran into him full force, sending them all crashing into the icy water below.

Ashley started the boat, revving it and pulling away from the dock as she watched three figures plunge into the water. She slowed the boat, coasting in a small circle.

"Over here!" She waved at Krauser and he treaded over.

"Where's Leon?!"

"I don't know! I cant see him."

The water was calm for several moments. Finally Leon broke the surface with a gasp.

"Come on, we gotta go!" Krauser pulled himself up onto the boat while Leon swam over. He offered his hand, pulling the agent up. Ashley put the throttle forward, rushing the boat away from the island causing the two men to fall to the floor. Not twenty seconds later several large explosions went off, sending most of the buildings into the water. Leon looked down at Krauser, who he was unintentionally straddling. He leaned down, kissing the blond roughly.

"Looks like you were the damsel in distress this time." Leon said as he pulled away, smile on his face as he leaned back, the rocking of the boat the most relaxing thing he'd felt in weeks.

Once they arrived at the airport, the private jet was ready to take them back to Washington D.C. Ashley boarded first and Leon stopped at the bottom of the steps, turning to look at Krauser who hadn't moved.

"Leon, you and I both know I can't go back to the states."

"I can talk to the president, I'm sure he can work something out..."

Krauser shook his head. The turbines on the plane started, creating a growing noise. Leon frowned, knowing this moment would come all too soon. Leon looked up at the luxury plane behind him, which was stocked with food, liquor, weapons and clothes. He wanted nothing more than to be well on his way home, putting as much distance between himself and his memories of Spain. When he looked back, Krauser had a look of horror on his face. His phone was clenched tightly in his hand.

"Jack? What is it?"

"I have to go. Goodbye, Leon." Krauser turned to leave, but Leon grabbed his wrist.

"Jack, what the Hell?!" Leon grabbed the blonds arm, spinning him around. He thrusted his phone into Leon's hands, and he looked at the message. It was nothing but a photo from an unknown number, showing a woman with guns pointed at her.

"This is your wife... isn't it?" Leon asked, although he was sure he knew the answer.

"Its Wesker's men. He's made this personal."

"Leon let his hands fall to his sides. This was all his fault.

"I'm coming with you. We're going to kill that bastard once and for all." Leon said firmly.

"You've done enough. Always so stubborn. When are you going to realize that your fucking actions have consequences, Leon?" Krauser sneered. Leon took a breath, ignoring the jab and stood his ground.

"Then I'm going to deal with the consequences and right what I've wronged."

Krauser looked at Leon, shocked. This wasn't the man he'd known back in South America at all.

Ashley appeared at the top of the stairs.

"Hurry up guys, I want to go home!"

"You heard her. We'll stop in D.C. then head straight for South America." Leon's emerald eyes burned as he shared a look with Krauser. They made their way up the steps into the luxury plane, headed towards home.
