Connor was trying to get to Michaela when Cassy held him back. They were arguing, resulting in her being pushed to the ground by the stronger man and hurting her elbow.
"Connor!" Wes shouted as he rushed to Cassy´s aid who sat up with a painful groan, rubbing her elbow.
"Are you out of your mind?" Rebecca inquired, when she watched Wes helping Cassy up and Connor looked at them open-mouthed.
"I-…I-" he stuttered as he walked back, straight against a bookshelf.
"It´s just a scrape." Cassy insisted when she saw a little bit of blood on her fingers after pressing them onto the wound.
"Come on let´s clean this." Wes said helping the girl up and getting her to the kitchen.
"Dude, you need to calm down!" Rebecca hissed at Connor who didn´t want to take orders from the girl that got them into this whole mess.
"I won´t let you drag me down with you!" he retorted angrily, getting in her face.
"Hey. Leave her alone." Wes ordered sternly and Connor backed up. "We need to get out of here."
"Hey! Are you guys in there?" they suddenly heard Asher pounding on the front door. "I see your car in the driveway, Connor!"
"Is that Asher?" Cassy just now came from the kitchen, a wet paper towel pressed against her elbow. "What is he doing here?"
"It´s my fault" Michaela whimpered and Connor simply scoffed, repeatedly saying that they were screwed.
"Is Michaela in there with you? I want my freaking trophy back!" Asher continued shouting and pounding while Connor was laughing his ass off. Laurel went to the window to try and get a look at him and if he was leaving when he suddenly knocked at the exact same window.
"Everybody get down." She ordered and everyone except for Connor and Cassy lay down on the floor. "Connor!" Laurel begged when he was trying to control his laughter.
"I can talk to him. Let me talk to him may- maybe I-I-I- I can-" Cassy stuttered, fearing that he would waltz right in and see their crime.
"No! Get down!" Wes exclaimed and Cassy took a few steps back hitting a wall, before sliding down to the floor, tears in her eyes.
The Keating 6 found themselves in a courtroom where Annalise was discussing Rebecca´s bail with the judge and prosecution. The defense attorney requested that the confession should not be considered in setting the bail amount, as the prosecution was not putting it into evidence which made everyone on Keating´s side suspicious. However, as the written confession was in evidence the judge´s hands were tied and he placed bail at a million dollars.
"A Millie? That´s a lot of lap dances." Asher noticed and Michaela rolled her eyes.
"She´s a bartender not a stripper." She said, taking her purse and standing up to leave.
"Debatable." Cassy murmured to herself, the distain in her voice not to overhear. Annalise and Bonnie met up with Rebecca after the hearing to discuss the process of how she confessed while Frank and the students returned to the house. Cassy´s peers got settled in the living room, going through notes from their other classes for upcoming exams, while the girl went up to Frank.
"Hey um…I wondered if we could talk?" she whispered so the others wouldn´t hear them and with an annoyed huff he led her to the kitchen where they were in private.
"You think those two are screwing?" Asher asked his colleagues, a hint of jealousy in his voice. Laurel looked up from a book, knowing what Cassy had told her about Asher and her, she wasn´t sure how to respond to that.
"Well, we know he has a thing for students." Michaela replied, highlighting some passages in her notes.
"And Frank is hot." Connor added with a smirk while leaning back.
"What is it?" Frank wondered a bit stressed once he and Cassy reached the kitchen.
"I just wanted to say thanks for um…for letting me crash at yours the other night and…return this." Cassy handed him the blouse he gave her. "I handwashed it. Also, I would really appreciate it if you didn´t tell anyone about…about my living situation." She stuttered embarrassed.
"Done. Anything else?" Frank seemed really cold and absent which took Cassy a bit by surprise but she simply cleared her throat.
"Did you find anything? About my family?" she wanted to know and Frank seemed to get even more stressed and tense than already. "Just anything, like at least if they still live here or…live at all."
"No." he simply replied, turning around to leave but Cassy grabbed his arm and held him back.
"No? That´s all? I thought you could do stuff like that…find people? Frank, you have given me nothing ever since I told you, is…is something wrong?" she asked worried but Frank pulled his arm away and came really close to the smaller woman, almost too close for comfort.
"Let´s get one thing straight. I am not some detective or spy that does your bidding. I offered to help and if I say I didn´t find anything then I didn´t find anything. We clear?" he said in an intimidating tone and Cassy nodded, a bit startled by his sudden change in tone and mood. He left the kitchen and Cassy went back to her peers, sitting down on the floor also going through her notes.
"What´d you two talk about?" Asher wanted to know, without looking at the girl next to him.
"None of your business?" Cassy simply stated and Asher gave her an angry side-eye. Clearly, he was still pissed about her using him to get back into Annalise´s good graces.
"Why? Cause you two are lovers now?" he simply replied and the other four couldn´t stop watching the discussion between them playing out.
"Why? Jealous?" Cassy answered sassy, staring down Asher, who now also turned to her.
"Is there something going on we should know about?" Connor joked, pointing at Asher and Cassy who were both quick to deny it.
Once Annalise got home, she seemed pissed and immediately requested Wes in her office.
"Oh, looks like the trophy´s gonna be in play." Asher said in a sing-song voice to which Laurel said that he was just advocating for his client.
"Are those the Tillman outlines?" Michaela changed the subject, only paying attention to Laurel´s notes. "Word Tillman, he won the Kepley Diploma all three years at Middleton. His outlines are the holy grail."
"This is one of Kan´s old outlines." Laurel explained, ignoring Asher making fun of her relationship. Michaela suggested a trade but Laurel was quick to recline it as she had no interest in making business with the smartass.
"I can´t believe you guys." Cassy interrupted Laurel and Michaela´s discussion. "It´s just an exam stop bickering."
"Oh so you don´t care about being bottom of the class?" Michaela said sarcastically to which Cassy shook her head, while standing up and packing her notes away. "Everyone cares about being on top."
"I don´t okay? My schoolyear has been as bad as it could be and it´s been what? A month? Two? I don´t care about being on top, I just wanna make it through this school and survive. Not everyone does." Cassy thought of her friend Lila as her rage got the best of her and she stomped into the direction of the kitchen.
"Sounds like it´s shooting star time." Frank sighed, looking at Bonnie and the they got the students´ attention.
"What´s a shooting star?" Michaela wanted to know, not liking being kept in the dark.
"Hair gel´s got ice in his veins and doucheface is too dumb to care." Frank explained looking to Connor first and then to Asher.
"Wallflower´s pretty sensitive." Bonnie replied nodding towards Laurel.
"My bet´s on prom queen." Frank crossed his arms over his chest, looking at an outraged Michaela.
"Crybaby seems like she could burn out soon." Bonnie added, an annoyed glance towards Cassy.
"What did you just call me?" the girl asked furious, walking towards Bonnie who simply raised her eyebrows as though this was her reassurance. "I just…I can´t with all this." Cassy gestured wildly with her hands before making her way to her bag, ready to leave when Bonnie murmuring that she´s gonna go cry again held her back. "Okay you know what?" Cassy turned around, facing the older blonde and Frank. "I´m sorry that Lila was my best friend and I am sorry that I got a bit too emotional when her boyfriend was talking crap about my dead best friend. Sue me!" she yelled at the group before smashing the door behind her. She knew she couldn´t just leave but she had to get out of there to cool down. However, only a few minutes later everybody left the house and walked to their cars.
"You okay?" Laurel asked Cassy who replied it with a nod. "You want to ride with me to the new client?" she offered and the younger one agreed.
The group walked into a large office building while Annalise informed them about their client – Marren Trudeau, Founder and CEO of Trudeau Securities, accused of insider trading. Cassy was embarrassed about her outburst and tried to stay as far away from Frank and the others as possible but Laurel promised her that she understood and encouraged her to trust her. Once they reached their destination complete chaos welcomed them. Marren was standing on the table yelling at the authorities before taking their search warrant and burning it.
"Enough Marren!" the attorney ripped the piece of paper out of her client´s hand and asked the authorities to tell her the exact charges and show the proof, to which they opened up a laptop and played a video of Marren and Elias Edson, CEO of Edson Pharmaceuticals, the company she was accused of making favorable stock trades, coming from insider knowledge, with.
"That´s a sex tape." Cassy snickered in the back, shocked by how little Marren cared that everyone saw it.
"Take notes kids, cause that´s what Pilates can do for you." Marren said with a smug expression and the Keating 6 smiled.
"I already like her." Cassy admitted to Laurel who nodded in agreement. While Annalise talked to her client in private, she ordered Frank and the students to read the charges and the files the FBI had against the defendant. Frank approached Cassy who was less than willing to talk to him at that moment.
"Hey, I´m sorry for what Bonnie said earlier…it wasn´t okay." He apologized with a guilty expression.
"Wow, since when do you care?" Cassy huffed, not bothered to look at the older man.
"Okay, just wanted to apologize…guess I won´t do that anymore." He turned to leave her when guilt overcame the girl and she held him back.
"I´m sorry. Look, it´s been really hard on me and having to work on a defense for a person I despise doesn´t really help either." Cassy explained and Frank looked at her confused, thinking she was talking about Marren. "Rebecca…I hate her. But if she truly didn´t do it then that means that Lila´s killer is still out there and I just want to find them and hold them accountable." She said in a dark tone and Frank nodded.
"I get that just…don´t let your emotions take over or you´ll be off the team for good." He warned her before he went to another box with files.
The same evening everyone found themselves at the house again, where Annalise told them that they had to find out who the real culprit was before the preliminary hearings. Frank handed out files on each of the employees to the students, telling them to find something out without making them feel like they were interrogated for the crime.
"How do you know it´s one of her employees?" Wes asked as everyone sat down exhaling in annoyance.
"I don´t. I just know everybody hates their boss." Annalise replied before going in her office.
"She´s right. I hate her." Michaela agreed and some of the others nodded.
"Am I the only one that´s psyched about this? We get to be spies!" Asher cheered.
The next day the students went to Marren´s firm to talk to her staff to find out who the mole could be. Cassy has already interviewed two of the staff members without finding any clue whatsoever who could have done it.
"Cassidy? Cassidy Robinson?" a woman suddenly called her from behind and she turned around, realizing in shock that her former roommate´s mother was the one calling.
"Mrs. Lewis, hi." She smiled politely when the older woman embraced her. "I didn´t know you worked here."
"Oh you girls have more important things to discuss, I´m sure. So how are you holding up? With all that Lila stuff?" Mrs. Lewis asked concerned and Cassy waved it off.
"Uh you know…I try not to think about it too much." She replied, clearly knowing with her boss working the case she couldn´t get away from it.
"So, Kendall told me you moved out of Kappa Kappa Theta, is that true?" Kendall´s mother continued, although Cassy clearly was uncomfortable talking about it.
"Yeah, I-…I couldn´t stay there after all that has happened." Cassy explained, trying to push down the sadness that overcame her as she thought back to the night they found Lila.
"Well, where are you staying? You know you can always stay with us. Since Kendall´s still living on campus we have a spare room." The woman suggested but Cassy shook her head.
"Thank you, but I´m good." She smiled and Mrs. Lewis gave her a soft nudge.
"Reach out whenever you need something." She replied Cassy´s smile before asking what she was doing at the office. However, before she could answer Wes called for her and she looked over to her peers which were gathered in a group ready to leave.
"I´m sorry I need to go." She excused herself as she quickly walked over to them. "Anybody find anything?" she wondered but everyone simply shook their heads.
The five students were driving to get supplies for covering up their crime. Cassy sat in the trunk, a constant disgusted look on her face as she couldn´t prevent her thigh from touching the carpet the corpse was tugged in.
"Urgh, I think I´m gonna be sick." She exhaled shutting her eyes and leaning against the back of the rear bench.
"It´s funny isn´t it?" Connor smirked, cold sweat on his forehead. "We´re driving so far out of the city to buy some lighter fluid when…we´re already screwed." No one said a word as he continued to point out all the times people saw them at the house and could testify against them. "These street camera´s recording us this very minute. Everyone say hello to the police – Hi!" he waved at nothing and Michaela sighed, still not fully recovered from her nervous breakdown.
"He´s completely lost it." Cassy murmured just loud enough for Laurel and Michaela to hear. She carefully lifted herself up to look to the front and check on her "friends". "Connor?"
"Yeah?" he replied, his eyes concentrated on the road ahead of him.
"Shut up will ya? You´re not making this situation better, okay?" she said annoyed and Connor chuckled.
"How about some music then?" he turned on the radio, a Christmas carol playing which he quickly started singing.
The team came back to Annalise´s house, telling her that they unfortunately didn´t get any information out of Marren´s employees. Connor was saying something about following another lead, however, Cassy was drifting away her thoughts completely drowned out everything that was happening around her.
"Miss Robinson!" Annalise´s angry voice tore her out of her state of mind. She wasn´t used to being called by her last name and she cleared her throat hesitant.
"I…I didn´t find anything either." She mumbled, looking down to her fidgeting hands.
"So we´ve pissed off our client and have absolutely nothing to show for it. You´ve all outdone yourselves." The attorney was angry and went back into her office while Connor left the house to follow that other lead. Michaela was trying to steal Kan´s outlines from Laurel´s purse when Asher caught her. She was freaking out yelling that they only had a few hours until the exam and she was tired of doing all the work for Annalise and compromising her other schoolwork. With all the noise made about Michaela Wes felt safe to quickly checked the phone he was taking with him everywhere he went.
"Who´s phone is that?" Cassy asked suspicious when she noticed his expression changing as soon as he looked at it.
"What? No one´s. Mine. It´s mine." He stuttered quickly pushing it back into his jeans pocket.
"You´ve got a white lace phone case?" she wondered nodding to the phone now hidden in his pocket.
"No…it´s um…it´s my sister´s. She wanted me to take it to the shop because…she let it fall into the bathtub and thinks that´s embarrassing." He lied which Cassy clearly noticed and as soon as he stood up to leave the room she followed him swiftly into the hallway where they came to halt when Wes hit a dead end.
"Give me Lila´s phone back." She ordered and got a shocked look from Wes. "What? Do you think I´m stupid? I know what my best friend´s phone looks like. Question is, why do you have it?" she crossed her arms as Wes was still processing being caught.
"Do you know what´s on it?" he asked, not answering her question but she just looked at him confused. "Something important must be on it or else-" he cut himself off, not wanting to tell her how he got the phone.
"Or else what?" Cassy came closer, her voice quiet but intimidating.
"Or else Rebecca wouldn´t have hidden it in my bathroom." He came clean and the younger girl chuckled.
"You know, I knew you were dumb, I just didn´t know how dumb you were." She hissed and he furrowed his eyebrows at that comment. "Did you maybe think about why she hid it? Maybe she knew that they would search her apartment and didn´t want anything incriminating in there?"
"No, you don´t understand. She wanted me to find it."
"Oh so you could be an accessory to her crime, right, now I understand."
"No…I think there´s something on there that might help her case." Wes explained but Cassy was still too amused by his naivety.
"Then why don´t you ask her what´s on the phone? If she was oh so clever to make sure you´d find it and come to her rescue?" Cassy wondered sarcastically and started laughing once Wes admitted that she wasn´t telling him anything. Even he felt a bit stupid saying all those things out loud. "Now please give me back Lila´s phone so I can give it to her parents."
"No! There could be evidence on Griffin on here. Evidence that could get Rebecca out of jail." Wes hoped and his opposite got frustrated.
"Oh my god! She already confessed. There´s no way she´s gonna get out of jail now. And it doesn´t look too good that she hid the victim´s phone. That little skank has you all wrapped up with whatever guys like about her and you are just a pawn in her game!" Cassy wanted to yell at him so bad but didn´t want to cause another scene.
"What has she ever done to you that you hate her so much?" Wes replied just as frustrated and Cassy groaned exhausted.
"You know what? Keep the damn phone. Once Annalise finds out she´s gonna cut you anyway." Cassy turned on her heel and walked away.
"Are you gonna tell her?" Wes called after her and she turned around before entering the living room again.
"I´m no snitch." She replied bluntly before joining the rest of the group for a briefing.
The fire was out and Connor started chopping the corpse into pieces.
"Have you done this before?" Michaela suddenly stood next to the tree Cassy was leaning against and the latter looked up, asking what she meant. "Murder." Cassy burst out into laughter, thinking Michaela was joking but soon realized by her expression that she wasn´t.
"Are you crazy? What makes you think I did?" she asked offended.
"Because…you were calm the entire night, you were cracking jokes, you- you-…you had sex." She whispered the last part with a disgusted look on her face. Cassy eyed her up and down, her mind going to all sorts of different places and recalling her actions that night.
"Let me be very clear with you Michaela" Cassy stood up coming really close to Michaela, her tone intimidating. "Just because I wasn´t crying in a corner and refused helping doesn´t mean that I´ve done this before. I´m a first-time murderer, just like you." Cassy scoffed angrily.
"Guys I think I detached the Tibia…or is it the Fibula?" They heard Connor cheering and Cassy gave Michaela one more angry glimpse before walking towards the rest to help Laurel pick up the pices of Sam.
"I didn´t kill anyone." Michaela grabbed Cassy´s wrist tightly. "Wes did." She explained in a harsh tone, making Cassy´s wrist hurt.
"Well, I also didn´t kill anyone. I wasn´t even there until you pushed him down the stairs." She pulled her arm away and left her with loud, angry footsteps.
Frank was sitting on his couch drinking some scotch when he heard footsteps outside his door. He decided to ignore them but they didn´t go away and someone was walking around indecisively. He opened the door and found Cassy standing in the hallway, a surprised look on her face.
"Hi." She smiled awkwardly and Frank sighed letting her in without a word. "Thank you. Look, I know I´m really annoying with this but I just want to find my family. I want to know why they gave me away and what happened and I had no idea how to do that until I met you. You are my only hope, Frank." She sighed as she sat down on the couch and Frank rolled his eyes remaining standing next to the coffee table.
"I get it. But you can´t keep doing this…coming to my apartment, wanting to talk in private with the kids around…they´ll think we´re screwing." Frank told her and she was surprised again, not thinking that he would care about that kind of stuff.
"Okay. I get it. No more sneaking around, that´s fine, but…just update me cause…I feel really stupid for asking you to do this the more you tell me to leave you alone." She explained and he nodded, taking his glass and sipping his beverage. "Also, I brought something. My parents- well, adoptive parents were given pictures of me as a baby so I wouldn´t know I was adopted and wouldn´t ask questions. They sent me some of those maybe…maybe it´ll help, I don´t know." She handed Frank a few pictures and he sat down the drink again looking through them. When he reached the last one his expression softened for a split second but he quickly tensed up again.
"Do you want a drink?" he suddenly asked, pointing to the little bar he had.
"No I shouldn´t…I drove here and-"
"You can sleep here. I can make up the couch for you." Cassy was a bit overwhelmed by the sudden change in behavior.
"Thanks, but no thanks. I should get going anyway. Study for TORTS you know." Cassy grabbed her purse and walked to the front door.
"Yeah, sure um…I´ll look into this." Frank followed her opening the door and holding up the pictures. Cassy gave him an awkward smile before leaving. Frank closed the door behind her and walked into his bedroom with the pictures in his hand. He placed them on a dresser before cramming around in one of the drawers and taking out a wrinkly piece of paper. A small smile hushed over his lips and he quickly put all the pictures in said drawer.
The following day the students met at Annalise´s house after Connor found out Paxton, the secretary, was part of the insider trade and committed suicide. They traced the phone call Paxton made the night before to someone inside the firm and were trying to figure out who could have helped him.
"The purchase order from the Edson shares went in at 2:48 pm. Marren says she was on a smoke break, so we just need to figure out who made the trade from her computer." Frank explained and everyone was thinking and looking through the papers. They were pointing out that two other employees, Talia Lewis and Jimmy Wordshaw, were logged out of their computers at the same time. They gave Annalise the information and she and a prosecutor interviewed those two the next day, catching them with a lie. After they closed the case the students helped packing away the files from their case, happy about finally getting to study when Bonnie came in with Rebecca´s confession tape. They watched it, Annalise quickly realizing that she seemed coerced into admitting to something that wasn´t in the written confession. She informed the judge about it who minimized the bail to a 100 grand.
After that stressful week Cassy sat in her car, drinking wine straight from the bottle. She exhaled deeply when she suddenly saw Connor walking over the street. She hid but kept a close eye on him and noticed how distraught he looked.
"Hey!" she called out of the window she pulled down and Connor came towards her with a confused expression. "You okay?" she asked and he shook his head. "Wanna join me?" she held up the wine bottle and he smiled softly, getting in on the passenger side. "Wanna talk about it?" she wanted to know, handing him the bottle and he shook his head again, taking a big gulp. Once he handed her the wine he looked around and noticed the mess in her car which came from her sleeping in there.
"I thought you´ve been staying at a motel after you moved out of your sorority?" he inquired and Cassy looked at her rear bench and then to him.
"Let´s not talk about it." She faked a smile and Connor agreed. They shared the wine bottle and talked about all kinds of stuff, when Cassy suddenly got a text from Annalise, telling her she had to come to the house immediately.
"I didn´t get one." Connor looked at his phone and Cassy sighed.
"Alright better get going. It was nice talking to you…I like you better when you´re tipsy." She giggled and Connor patted her on the head, messing up her pony tail.
"Thanks…I´ll see you tomorrow." He got out of the car and so did Cassy. She knew she couldn´t drive anymore and Annalise´s house wasn´t that far away. Once she got there her boss urged her into the office and sat her down impatiently.
"Did you know?" she asked stressed and Cassy didn´t understand what she was talking about.
"Did I know what?" she answered and only then noticed Lila´s phone in Annalise´s hand.
"That Lila was having an affair?" she told her and Cassy´s eyes got big and her mouth dropped open.
"What?! No, Lila wouldn´t!" she defended her dead friend but Annalise sighed as she backed up.
"She did, sorry you had to hear it from me. You can leave." She stepped aside so Cassy could leave the office but Cassy was still in shock.
"No! You can´t just drop a bomb like that…How do you know? Do you know with whom?" she wanted to know but Annalise pointed at the door.
"Cassy I don´t have time for this. You need to leave now." She repeated and Cassy stood up hesitant.
"Please, just tell me." She begged.
"I said NOW!" Annalise yelled, startling the girl who quickly grabbed her stuff and walked out of the house. She stared into nothingness, feeling the alcohol kick in even harder than before. Her best friend was having an affair and she didn´t know about it. No, it wasn´t the alcohol that made her dizzy and blur her vision. It was the feeling of betrayal.
