Chapter Five

Familiars and Tutors

Finally Healer Longsword declared them healthy enough to have the blocks removed. All except the Godparent to Godchild Block, which she said Griphook was looking in to in order to discover who their Godparent's were, and why the test results showed potential harm if the block was removed. Once more the twins were escorted to the healer's private office. This time they were given a number of potions to assist in unblocking the abilities. Once the potions were properly in their systems, Healer Longsword began to wave her hands in a complex pattern while speaking in Gobbledegook. The twins both felt their bodies fill with a wave of pain before they blacked out.

They woke up the next day feeling much lighter than they had previously, as if a weight had been removed from their bodies and minds. Rosemary thouht back through her muggle schooling and found that she could remember things now with a crystal like clarity. Even the little details which had always seemed somehow muddled in her mind were now sharp and clear. She also could sense a pull in the back of her mind. Following it she got a vague sense of another body.

Hello? She thought, trying to direct her thought at the other body.

Rosey? A familiar voice replied inside her own mind.

Harry? She asked.

That's me. This must be part of the twin bond. Harry said. Rosemary could only nod.

Dead useful though, she replied, Now you wont need to wonder about what I'm about to do.

That'll make my life easier. When we get to school we will have to figure out just how far this bond will go. We will also have to shut it down during test. Harry's mind voice said with laughter. Rosemary smiled at her brother.

Our metamorphmagus abilities should be unblocked too now. You could try hiding your scar, since that seems to be your defining feature in this world. I'm going to see if i can change my hair. Remember that the books said the key to it is focus.

Rosemary watched as her brother erased the scar from his forehead before she focused on trying to change her hair to straight shoulder length electric blue, just to see if it would work. Her hair did straighten and change length, but it wasn't changing color. Rosemary refocused her hair on the color blue, and was mildly surprised when it changed to a shocking lightning blue, before returning to her original fire red, wavy, waist length hair.

"Looks like I'm going to have to work at this." Rosemary said. Harry laughed at her.

"I think I've got it somewhat." he said, "How do I look?"

Her brother had managed to make his scar disappear, and had put green streaks through his hair to match his eyes, and red tips to match her hair.

"Nice, I like it." she said.

"Thanks Rosey." Harry said. She smiled at her brother, he had always been quiet around others, but when it was just the twins he could be very mischievous, and a bit of a sarcastic git, but she loved him anyway. Maybe the Wizarding World would help him come out of his shy shell a bit.

Healer Longsword entered the room, and Harry got quiet again, but his hair remained black, green, and red, showing a bit of his personality.

"I see you two are already adjusting to your abilities. I appreciate you not attempting to play with your elemental abilities while your here."

"Of course, Healer Longsword. Is it normal to feel so light after having blocks removed?" Rosemary asked. The healer nodded.

"It is not unusual to feel like a weight has been lifted from yourselves. The blocks both prevent the use of aspects of your magical core, and drain on it, so having them gone and having the drains gone from your core helps. Now, were going to keep you two here for a couple more days, just to make sure that your cores are settling properly. After that, I believe that Griphook is looking for tutors for you to help in training your abilities, as well as your newfound responsibilities. You will probably get to meet them in a few days, he said that he was very close to getting agreement from at least one family. He's become rather fond of you two, and I must admit, in the time that you've been under my care, I have as well." Healer Longsword said. Rosemary found it somewhat nice that the healer was rambling just a little.

"Healer Longsword, I don't want to seem like we're demanding too much of your time, and I would never seek to impose on your gracious hospitality, but we were wondering if you would perhaps be available, and agreeable, to becoming our personal Healer. Not to take you away from healing anyone else who might be in need of your outstanding care, but..." Rosemary trailed off, not certain where to go from there.

"But when you are in need of healing to have it known that I am your, as the muggles call it, primary physician? I would be quite happy with the arrangement, as it would enable me to properly ensure that the two of you are being cared for, and as I just said, I've become rather fond of you two children." Healer Longsword replied. Both of the twins lit up with that.

"We've become rather fond of you as well, Master Healer." Harry said. Rosemary nodded in complete agreement.

"Now, I have already sent an owl to Madam Pomfrey, the Mediwitch at Hogwarts, with your potions, and prescriptions, as well as your diet plan. That way, she can let the house elves know so that they can get you your food and potions every meal, all that you will have to do is put your hand over the plate in front of you and pulse your magic through it. Do you understand?" Healer Longsword asked patiently, bustling around the room with her usual check ups on the twins. They both nodded an affirmative. She smiled at them, leaving the room even as she turned to look over her shoulder at the two children. "Good, I'll let the two of you get back to your studying."

A couple of days later Griphook followed Healer Longsword into the infirmary with a stack of paperwork in his hands, and a snarl of a grin on his face.

"Well, Heir Black, Heiress Potter, I've been doing a lot of digging and contract writing the last two weeks. You certainly know how to keep a goblin busy and happy with his work. To start, Heiress Potter, your Godfather is a werewolf, a mister Remus John Lupin. He was known to be best friends with your father in school, and a brother figure to your mother after she and her sister had a falling out in school. Given their deaths, and your bond blockage, it is no wonder that his side of the bond is showing neglect. We believe that removing the bond will help him heal, and thus do you no harm." Griphook started, while Healer Longsword once more got to work removing the last block on Rosemary.

"Now, Heir Potter, your Godfather is Lord Sirius Orion Black, Head of the Ancient and Noble House of Black. We cannot remove your block because at this time he is currently in Azkaban, for the murder of 1 wizard, 12 muggles, and conspiracy to murder your parents and the two of you. However, there is no evidence of a trial, never-mind the fact that his Godfather Oath prevents him from doing anything that would cause harm to you. So, currently we are looking for a soliciter to take on the case of Lord Black, and see what can be done about getting him a proper trial, preferably with Veritaserum, the most potent truth serum in the world.

"That business aside, I do have tutors lined up for the two of you for the remainder of the summer, starting the day after tomorrow, with a few of those tutors continuing to meet you at Hogwarts to further your education. Now, Mr. Tonks is a solicitor as well as a certified Healer, and will be tutoring you in laws and healing. Mrs. Tonks will be tutoring you in Etiquette, all those tiny little details about life that you don't realize that you need to know. , who goes by Tonks, is a Metamorphmagus, and will be teaching you about how to control those abilities. We did manage to make contact with Mr. Lupin, who is a defense prodigy, so he will be tutoring you year round in Defense Against the Dark Arts, as well as coming in to take over some of his Godfather responsibilities. As he is a registered werewolf, he cannot actually bring you into his home to raise you, he legally isn't allowed to. Mr. William Weasley will be coming in as a tutor in Ancient Runes, Astronomy, Arithmancy, Potions, History, and when you get far enough to understand it, Curse-breaking. He is one of our best Curse-breakers, and one of the top students to graduate will also be tutoring you year round. You will have the Tonks family tutoring you on Mondays and Fridays, Mr. Lupin tutoring you on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and Mr. Weasley tutoring you on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Any other classes you need tutoring in can wait until you get a grounding there, or you school grades show that you are either ahead in your classes, or behind. Is that clear?"

"Yes, Master Griphook." Harry said nodding, with Rosemary nodding along. By that time Healer Longsword finished unblocking the bond with Remus for Rosemary. Suddenly Rosemary felt like she was walking in the forest by the park near number 4. It was like being wrapped in a hug by the wilderness. Rosemary smiled, a look of wonder in her eyes.

"Now, here are your potions for the rest of the summer, as well as a guideline for your diets. I believe that you have a meeting with Hagrid today to get your pets. Off you go, you two. Be good. I expect to see you here as soon as you get off the train at the end of the year." Healer Longsword said. Harry and Rosemary hopped off their respective beds, with their bags and grabbed their trunks. They waved goodbye for the year to Healer Longsword as Griphook led them out to the main floor of the bank, giving them copies of their schedules for their tutors for the year, including their school year after class lessons. They thanked him and waved goodbye as they met up with Hagrid, who led them off into Diagon Alley once more.

They walked into the Magical Menagerie at Rosemary's insistence, she had a sense that that was where she needed to go. Inside, she was drawn through the shop all the way to the back, where she found a basket, with a beautiful small creme cat inside, with black paws and ears, a purple teardrop shaped flame on her forehead, and bright amber eyes. Inside with the feline was a litter of kittens, with their eyes open, clearly having recently finished weaning, and now at the age of being able to be sold. One of the kittens was an all black cat with cream colored paws and a grey flame on her forehead, directly between two emerald green eyes. The kind woman at the front of the shop followed her back.

"Ahh, I was wondering who was coming for these lovelies. Maji, my queen, brought them out today. She always knows when one of her kits is going to a new home. They're lovely elemental cats, with a bit of kneazle mixed into the stock. They're very intelligent, and deadly loyal beauties. So, do you know which one is yours dearie?"

"This beautiful little one calls to me." Rosemary said, as the black kitten pounced onto her shoe. She bent down to pick up the little kitten.

"Shadow-Fire looks like. It'll be 20 galleons, sweetie. Do you need a basket and collar?" the lady asked.

"Yes please, ma'am. What do you mean by Shadow-Fire?" Rosemary asked as she picked out a whicker basket with a purple blanket, and a red collar, bringing them up to the counter.

"That's her element. You can tell by the coloring on her. Her Momma was a fire cat, for sure, but the flame on her forehead tells you she's fire cat, and the coloring indicates shadows. What'll you call her?"
"Midnight. Her name is Midnight." Rosemary said. After paying, they headed over to Eyelops Owl Emporium, where Harry found a gorgeous snowy owl with golden-amber eyes. He wasn't drawn to her, like Rosemary was to Midnight, but he said that was fine, because he felt that he was nowhere near hs familiar. After bidding farewell and thank you to Hagrid, the twins made their way to the Leaky Cauldron where they set themselves up for lunch, and got themselves a room for the remainder of the summer until the 1st of September.
