Chapter 5
"Damn… again? Third one and it couldn't take a hit…" Saitama sighed as he wondered about the city. He had encountered a few monsters that day but they were all easily defeated. Yet for a strange reason, people have been watching him a lot more recently. Civilians for one were in aw as he stopped a monster so fast. Others called out. "Are you a Neo Hero?!"
"A what?" Saitama asked back. "I work for the Association…" he said.
"That place was run by a monster!" one man shouted in anger.
Saitama paused to consider his words. "A monster you say? Would a monster make sure that the heroes under their command were protected and well equipped? Not to mention training, the food, lodging and medical needs are look after all the while paying them a living wage?" he asked.
"She was still a freak of nature!"
Saitama shrugged. "To you maybe, but you're a freak of nature too. I mean, who goes around shouting at random people?" he asked and continued on his way. "Some people are a pain in the ass…" he muttered.
He still looked back on that day. When the sound that drove Garou and the family crazy, he understood completely, after all, he was one of the few that could hear it as well. "If I had that shit bombarding my ears that long, yeah, I would go nuts too…"
He remembered the card Zombieman gave him, it was the action needed to take out the family if they did not control themselves. Saitama was asked not only to take out Garou, but Melee as well. The reason being, they wanted to go together. But another reason, if one was killed before the other. The rage that would consume them, would make the fight all the more difficult.
Well, for some people at least.
When he arrived to try and stop them. Melee was already shot through the heart by a strange bullet. Garou got so upset that he erupted in the abandoned district of City Z. He tore down buildings in his rage until he too was taken down by a single bullet between his eyes.
"Who knew something so small could cause such harm…"
He paused once more. "Why am I thinking about this?" he wondered aloud. But shrugged his shoulders to it. Perhaps he was that board he decided to reflect on that day.
"Saitama?"
He paused and looked about. Until he saw Blue, the Neo Hero. "Oh, hey," he said carelessly. He tried to walk away until Blue grabbed his arm.
"I told you," he said. "I knew this would happen all along, but, still, you sided with them. Why?" he asked.
Saitama stared at him oddly. "Well, you're still wrong about them." He said in a board tone. "If you are looking at them from a monster perspective, when they were in agony, anyone would lash out in pain. The thing is, they knew their own strength. They didn't kill anyone now did they?"
Blue sneered. "It's no excuse!"
"What excuse?" he asked. "The sound was annoying as hell, I was getting upset with it."
Suddenly, a look of shock came over Blue. "You mean that's true?! There was a noise driving them insane?" he asked.
"Yeah, it's like nails on a chalkboard, along with the scraping of dry clay with an air horn blasted in your ears. I would be pissed off too if that's all I heard"
His glare lightened. "Still, at least they are of no threat anymore…" he muttered.
Then there was breaking news. Saitama looked to the TV and paused. "Huh, Tempest is on… but why is he bowing to the media?"
#
"I have… not been completely truthful to my origins."
It was the press conference he was dreading, however he knew it had to come out. Raiden was already doing everything he could to discredit Tempest, so he decided to strike first. "I wish to explain something to everyone here today. The so-called Sweet Six as you have dubbed them, yes. I am one of them. Yes, my biological father is Amai Mask, however, I was raised by Garou."
The media went into a frenzy. "Who is your mother!?"
"What does this all mean?"
"What are you trying to say?"
The questions kept coming. However Tempest sighed once more. "Perhaps this will be easier to explain. This is security footage that was outside of the arena…" he said and played the video.
He watched on as the media stopped and stared. Their eyes wide, when suddenly, a look of horror came over their faces. Many turned white as the video came to an end. "Wait, didn't that happen a few days ago!?" one woman reporter asked.
"Yes,"
"And yet…"
"I hadn't eaten in a while, when that happens, I can digest something big rather quickly…"
It didn't settle the room the least bit, but one reporter put his hand up. "Are you saying that… you never used your full strength in the sumo, right?"
Tempest paused. "I used what strength I needed. I had trained myself to use what would be necessary to win. In this state, I am very strong and hold back. When I am a serpent… I could easily kill someone with a single strike."
Murmurs began. Tempest however stood up and lowered his head in apology. "I am sorry for hiding this from the world, the fans, and those who believed in me. As such, a there is no room for a Yokozuna in this industry that lies to the world. I am deeply sorry and will retire if that is asked of me…"
They paused. "If?" they whispered.
The chairman stood up. "I didn't know of Tempest… ability until recently. He told me before the press conference and quite frankly, I wish he had told me the day we met. HOWEVER, despite these events, not once have I seen Tempest use this inhuman strength against another. He also states he is the son of one Amai Mask. Never have I seen a vein on his body that would indicate that he cheated to win. We are going to review it for now, however we will keep him out of the sumo ring until the decision has been made."
"I will accept the decision, whatever it maybe. Until then, I will be working for the Association in fighting monsters." He announced. "That is all I have to say for the time being."
Tempest stood as the media shouted out more questions. He was able to leave with the chairman into another room. From there, the two fell silent to each other. "I…" Tempest began to say.
However, the chairman made him stop, a simple lift of his hand and Tempest fell silent. His head hung shamefully. "You did what you had to do, or no one would have allowed you to sumo wrestle. Correct?" he asked.
"Yes," he said meekly.
"Also, had it not been for you… many of the sumo wrestlers would have been killed that day. That monster was coming to the arena wasn't it?"
He nodded once more.
"I… I never really had a dream before when I was younger… when I learned about sumo wrestlers and how they acted, how proud they were of their strength and ability… the fact that they enter the dohyo with nothing more than their own strength. I wanted to be one, also it was the farthest thing from being associated with Amai Mask at the time… I don't exactly see eye to eye with him. I considered Garou my true father for he raised me."
The chairman nodded in understanding. "No wonder you got so good. He must have run you ragged!"
"And how… it didn't help part of my training for Raiden was to have all five of my older brothers come at me at once!"
The chairman sighed aloud. "I will wait and see what happens. At the moment, this is not in your favor."
"I understand sir, but let me say this…" he bowed his head once more. "Thank you for giving me such an opportunity,"
He was given a bow back. With that, Tempest changed into civilian clothing. He figured it wasn't right to wear the Yokozuna or any sumo gear while he is out of the industry.
For now, he will help fight against the monster pandemic.
Not to mention, find the man who gave the order to have his family killed!
