I was walking happily in the streets of my country. I was really happy because it was my 6th birthday! I was so excited about the surprise party I will have today.
My adoptive mother Miranda probably was already preparing it. She was so nice and pretty. Miranda was the one who picked me up from the street when I was just a baby. Since then she took care of me as if I was her daughter.
Miranda never lied to me about her being my adoptive parent. I always saw her as family anyway. She was a wealthy woman who gave me a luxurious lifestyle of a princess almost.
I stopped in front of a big white mansion. The Shangeru mansion was well known for its elegant construction. I always liked it. The mansion looked almost like a castle from a fairytale for me. I ringed the doorbell and a servant opened the door for me. "Good day Miss Miral. Please come in. The mistress is waiting for you in the underground hall." The servant bowed respectfully to me.
"Thank you!" I ran towards the underground hall. My surprise birthday party is probably ready! It will be so fun! When I reached the door of the underground hall I opened the door without knocking. In that moment my smile turned into a shock. I don't think it's even shock. I was horrified about what I saw before me.
The hall was dark but candles gave light to the area where Miranda stood. Behind her was a big sacrifice altar. On the altar was my dead best friend. Miranda was covered in blood. The smell of blood made me freeze in my tracks. Was it just a bad dream? It couldn't be true right? I will probably awaken soon to find Miranda next to me. After that my best friend Chidori will play with me like always right?
The dried blood made Miranda's long black silky hair look slightly crimson. Her purple dress was also dirty with red stains. Miranda smiled at me coldly. "Welcome Miral to your surprise birthday party. I'm so happy you could arrive to the ceremony in time. You even wore your beautiful white dress. You look gorgeous my child." I could only stare at her. I didn't knew what I should say. Maybe it was a prank? But the smell of blood told me otherwise.
Miranda sighed. "I see I need to explain it to you properly after all foolish naive child. Do you know the reason I took you in in the first place? It's because you are gifted with a special power. As a dark witch I could sense it right away from you. I always adored power. So I invested in you until now. You should be grateful for the good times I gave you. Today you will repay me for it. With the sacrifice of a loved one for you your power can be transferred to me. All I need to do now is splatter your precious blood on the altar. Easy right?"
I was shaking by now. Now I knew for sure it was reality. I wanted to live. I want to live. Move! Move already! Miranda reached me and grabbed me forcefully by my brown long hair. "Let's finish it quickly Miral. I will even do it painlessly just for you alright sweetheart?"
Miranda dragged me to the altar where my dead friend was. At sight of her covered in blood I panicked more and started to struggle. "Leave me alone! Don't kill me! I want to live! Please!" I cried desperately as I struggled. "Please! I want to live!"
'Your will to live is strong. I'm impressed. You want to survive that much? Do you want to survive even if it means you will have to live in this reality you saw now?' a voice spoke in my head. Clinging to my new hope I decided. "Yes! I want to live! I definitely want to live!"
Before me appeared a glowing woman with long silvery hair in a white nightgown. "I accept your resolve. I will grant you power for your wish." "Wh… Who are you?" "I am the shape of your power. Your kind calls me innocence." The woman smirked.
Miranda frowned. "Stop talking to yourself Miral and join your friend!" It looked like only I could see that woman that is called innocence. She was so pretty like a fairy. Her smile relaxed me.
Miranda raised a dagger to stub my heart above the altar. Above my dear friend. Before she could stub me innocence raised her hand and shoot a big energy blast at Miranda. Miranda crashed into the wall.
Innocence pointed at the door. "Quickly child escape while she lost consciousness. Take back your life." The woman disappeared. I took one last glance at my dear friend and ran as fast as I could towards the garden. When I was outside I kept running without looking back. I will live!
