Chapter 7

It was the final days before the world went to the polls.

Electra has been gaining supporters rather quickly. Ever since the incident and the increase of monster attacks, she has put aside her campaign and had started to fight.

Her actions spoke louder than words.

People have got to asking where the military power was that Ubet used to take out Garou and his family? Why aren't they deployed to protect the cities? Where are they to help save those around them?

Question after question the people asked, but no answer was given. Electra however sighed aloud to it all. She wants to know the answer to that too, but there was another issue. How did Ubet get military backing so quickly.

She then remembered that Alley was to meet with Lt. Cane on projects and the equipment contract she was under. There was no word from Cane let alone anyone like him calling the shots.

It was the commander at Ubet's beck and call who has been running things.

Curiosity got the better of her, Electra went to the military base Alley spoke of. The base had long since been abandoned, yet still used for various activities and training.

There were no guards, no one at the gate or on the complex. She wondered about peering into various buildings until one caught her attention.

The walls were clearly blown out!

"That was done on the inside…" she muttered and took a closer look.

She peered in.

The place was a mess, yet a startling discovery lay on the floor. "Blood?" she whispered.

Upon a closer inspection, it was indeed blood, yet it had long since dried. "Did someone get shot or possibly attacked?

Then she heard something!

Electra was on edge, she reached into her back pocket for a taser that Alley gave her just before the campaign just in case. She was at the ready until…

She froze as someone grabbed her from behind with a gun!

"Who are you!"

She stuttered a little. "E… Electra Max!" she stated.

She feared for her life until she was suddenly released. Turning around, Electra froze. "Lt Cane?!"

The old man smirked. "It's been a while, I didn't think anyone was going to come back here, that son of a bitch commander…" he muttered.

"Sir, what happened?"

Lt. Cane explained that during his meeting with Alley Brawler, his phone updated and downloaded something, when it affected Miss Brawler he knew something was wrong. "I tried to get all personal on it, my universal phone was cut off. Whoever made Miss Brawler go mad with rage, was anticipating on her killing me in the process."

She froze. "It was all set up wasn't it?"

"And how!" he said. His head shook in disappointment. "Miss Brawler made me this suit, for such an emergency. It took the bullet, yet at the same time, I don't even know how she did it, added a bleed feature to it. It would appear that I was bleeding out, when I wasn't harmed at all!"

"It was all a set up…"

Cane nodded.

"Sir, if you have been fine this whole time, why haven't you come forward with this?"

He sighed aloud. "I don't know what to tell you. Some young fella claiming to be Miss Brawler's son told me to stay hidden. Bois… I think his name was…"

"Boros?"

"That's it!" he stated. "Anyway, he appears to be working on something… for a boy who lost his mother he is oddly calm about it…" he said offhandedly.

Electra agreed.

She has heard from the other heroes about Boros, he was adopted by Alley but he is in fact an alien. Yet the power he possesses could rip a world apart, why hasn't he out of rage?

"I am going against Mr. Ubet. Can I count on your support?"

Cane smirked. "What do you need for me to do? It's about time I put that bastard in his place, that commander won't know what hit him!"

She went back out on the trail, yet kept the details of Lt. Cane's whereabouts and health a secret. For now, she will focus on winning this election and ensuring Ubet doesn't win.

She decided to hold a rally that day and get the people on her side. There are those who are realizing now that despite what Garou and his family were, they weren't the real monsters that they should be concerned with. "Look around you! Mr. Ubet said that ridding ourselves of the so called monster heroes, our world would be a lot safer… do you feel safer now!?" she asked the crowd.

They booed back.

"It's not safe, our world has shifted, and I know many people believe I am bias to these heroes because of my brother Lightning Max being one of them. But let's face it. They weren't monsters at all. The situation that befell them, was not their doing. I don't have the proof yet of this, but I promise you I will find it and prove to you all what they did, wasn't by their own free will." She said. "Ladies and gentlemen, look at me. I lost my brother, many of you know the pain of loss. I feel it too, and that is why when I am elected. I will do everything I can to ensure that you are protected and safe. I will increase funding for the heroes who do what is asked of them, who go out of their way to save the cities in need, not the rich ones, not the well off clusters of 'high rollers' as you all know them as. Ladies and gentlemen. I know this world is a scary place, for I am just as scared as you are. But trust in me, and I promise you. We will make it a less fearful place to live in"

They applauded her.

They cheered for her.

There were people on her side!

She ended her tour for the day, only to get a strange phone call. "Hello?"

"Electra Max?" came a rather calm and settled voice. But she knew it well.

"Wait… Amai Mask?!"

A small laugh was heard. "Indeed I am, Miss Electra, I have been asked a strange favor from the one named Boros of all people… are you aware Mr. Ubet has a one bullet left from his… subjugation of Garou's family?"

She paused. "Why would you tell me this? What would it matter?" she asked.

He took a deep breath. "Well… I was thinking, if there is one bullet left, he intends on using it. I wish to take it out of his hands, for you see… the sweet six are my children and they are in danger of it. Even if one is lost to me, it will be a great upset to say the least. I need to try and take it from him. Any thoughts?"

She pondered over the notion. "We could also use that as evidence when we charge him… I mean how could he have something like that in his possession?"

"I wondered that too, a young upstart of a politician having a weapon that could take out a legion of strong heroes because of who they are? It's all too… how do I say… convenient in my mind."

"I agree… do you have any suggestions on getting it out of his hands?"

There was a pause. "Not quite, however. I just wish for you to be made aware of this. Be careful out there."

"Thanks…" with that she hung up her phone.

Electra Max will continue on, in the name of her brother and his friends, she will still fight for them!
