I will admit that in the last chapter, it was all background, but in this one will introduce more Mortal Kombat elements. From the character names list (in both Ch 1 and 2), get used to seeing the main character, her mother, her best friend, her maternal uncle by blood, and her ancestor from thousands of years ago. There will be more and I get that these names can be overwhelming for non-Nahuas but please, bear with me. Enough talking; you came here for this...Before I forget! The village has a population of about 600. Anyways, here it goes.

Teoitotia's POV, Age 18:

It's been almost 6 years since my father's death. My mother stepped down from her position to look after herself and I. Her brother, my uncle, had no other choice but to become tlatoani. Today I became the fourth-in-command for my people, military-wise. This is for my father. I'm very young for this position, but my spirit is strong. Very strong. I'm surprised my mother didn't commit suicide by now. Mating produces the most sacred bond for us and when someone from a pair dies, the bond from this world is broken and the living of the pair lives with extreme pain for the rest of their lives, that not long after, they kill themselves. When both die, that bond in connected again in the next world. Living with a piece missing from you is hard. My maternal grandfather was killed before my birth, so I knew that my grandmother could hold onto this life until her natural death. If my mother decides to join my father, I wouldn't hold it against her. She's was there for me when I passed the right of passage. After that, I became the first-in-line to speak for my people. She can leave should she really want to. Sure, it will cause me further pain, but I can deal with it and I have to force myself to keep on living. Not just for my people, but for the sake of the our bloodline. Technically, my aunt and uncle can take over my place in line for the position, but I've always wanted at least one child, so I have to find my mate first, or have an arranged marriage. See, there is no love at first sight, you have to fall in love and court each other until you either both agree to marry or break it off. I would say that I'm not lonely. I have my best friend, Coyotlantli, and my other companions.

I heard my uncle mention to my mother about the next Mortal Kombat tournament coming up. Cool. Now, move on will life and earn the title of General. But the fact that the next Mortal Kombat tournament is in about a decade stayed in the back of my mind for some reason...

NOTE: The ranks go like this: Tlatoani, General, Supreme Officer, Supreme Junior Officer, Junior Officer and onto lower ranked captains and so on.

... ... ... ... ...

Teoitotia's POV. Present Time. Age 29:

I've been the General of my people for a few months now, and I have to say...it's not that different from being the Supreme Junior Officer. At least, it feels like that to me. It could be because I was already the next-in-line to become tlatoani... Huh. I suddenly remembered that the Mortal Kombat tournament starts in a few days. My uncle told me that if Outworld wins this one, they have the right to invade Earthrealm. It's according to the EldEr GoDs' rules. The sap from our trees are worth more than their rules. When I met with my uncle this morning he told me that should Shao Kahn invade Earthrealm and approach our lands, we will retaliate and kill them all. I don't know a single one of my people who would oppose to that. We have been at peace and governed ourselves for centuries, no way we are giving that up.

... ... ... ... ...

The Mortal Kombat tournament starts today, let's just hope our realm wins so we don't have to deal with another realm.

... ... ... ... ...

I heard from a forest spirit in China when I was patrolling with my spirit that Outworld challenged Earthrealm to another tournament on their own turf. I believe Tlalotzin, known as Raiden, was forced.

... ... ... ... ...

I stood in attention as soon as I felt a portal open from the north (of Mexico). I cannot be the only one who felt that. I stood up from my stool placed in the edge of the garden of my home (which is still my mother's as well) and went to the farm fields. I need confirm this feeling with my mother, and if my grandmother is there, then her too. As I walk to the fields, I pass by a lot of my people, which is the most usual thing because although we were not living in the center of the the village, we were still close to it.

"Teoitotiatzin." Coyotlantli nods in acknowledgement and respect.

"Axax, please stop it." I roll my eyes.

NOTE: "axax" is pronounced "ah-sh-ah-sh"

Coyotlantli, now the Junior Officer, laughs, "We are in public."

"Yes, but we're near the border now."

"Then it was fun to annoy you for a few seconds."

We both went into a comfortable silence. Then I said in a low voice, "Did you feel that portal open up north?"

He looked surprised and then concerned, "I did not. I usually don't feel for things up north. Our indigenous neighbors usually seem fine and nothing really happens to the majority concerning the no-good spirits."

"I agree, but I felt a portal open." Silence again.

"You plan to meet with your mother and the tlatoani."

"Quema." ("Yes")

"But they won't let you leave. The tlatoani is calling back all of those outside of our barrier."

"Quema."

"Yet, you will still try."

"Quema. I believe it is time to go beyond our realm."

"May luck be with you then." he said knowing that this was not a matter of the military anymore.

"I will see you some other time then." I said bowing my head slightly.

"Quema." he agreed bowing his head slightly more than mine.

I hurried to meet my mother. I already detected the specific location of her spirit and I am sure she did the same.

"Na." I say as I bow my head slightly.

"Teoitotia." she responds as she leaves her picked crops in her basket.

"Is my grandmother here?"

"She is near. A few fields down."

Then I must only speak with my mother. I am running out of time.

"Did you feel the portal open up north?"

"I did." she said. I believe she already knows where this was going.

"Na, you know I must go. I feel like it is time we open ourselves up to the world. New dangers come. More pressing dangers than captains of the no-good spirits."

"Then go to your uncle. Gather the council of elders and speak your mind."

I blinked a few times. She's encouraging me?

"Alright Na. I will do as you advise." I lower my head in respect.

Too much walking to arrive at the House of Laws... I decide to shift into a jaguar and jump on the rooftops. I go to the nearest house and put my arm out to it with my fingers pointing down. Then I flick my hand up so it rest horizontally with the earth. I step up the piece of earth I elevated and jump onto the rooftop. I shift and run. I find an alley where no one can see me and shift back. What would they think of the General running on rooftops? I approach the House of Laws and walk up the stairs. As I approach the guards, they bow and say, "Teoitotiatzin." I respond, "Brave ones." I walk up the stairs and notice my uncle's attendant speaking with a captain. I have no time for small talk and approach him.

I nod in ackowledgment to him and say, "Attendant, where might I find my uncle?"

"The Speaker is recording what happened with the tribes of the south."

"Tlazokamati." (Thank you) I say and knowing which room he meant.

Once I am at the doorway, I pause, look down at the ground, and bow saying, "Tlatoani, I am here with concerns of the north."

He stand up and says, "I felt it too Teoitotia and enough of the formalities!"

"I am being respectful uncle." I remind him, but kept my eyes down. With Nahuas you never make eye contact and you must look down when in the presence of someone of higher status.

"I see you want to take action, which requires going against the law placed by our ancestor as well as my order."

"That's correct, uncle."

"I will gather the council of elders."

"Tlazokamati." I say as I bow my head. I know that he is currently calling the elders. We can communicate with each other via our spirits.

"Go to the throne room." he finally says. I bow and head there. The throne room consists of the red entrance wall, two parallel walls painted with the symbols of each house, and the last wall, where the decorated, black stone throne is closest to, is painted with the 4 Great Lords (Search up "Ehecatl," "Huehueteotl," "Tlaloc," and "Tezcatlipoca") and Ometeotl (Can also be searched up) at the very top. I stay near the entrance to give respect to the elders, for they should be closest to my uncle in this case. Oh man, I can already hear what the elders are going to say. The elders finally arrive after a few minutes. I bow and greet every one of them. My uncle's attendant enters from a doorway close to the throne, holding a decorated spear, and announces, "Presenting the Speaker." We all look down and bow slightly as my uncle comes out, grabs his spear, and sits on the throne.

"Thank you for answering my sudden call." he said gently. We sit on the mats. Then he continues, "Teoitotia, please present your case." He lifts his arm gesturing to me to stand. I do so and walk to the center of the aisle near the entrance. I bow while lifting my arm bent, with my palm up, and closed eyes saying, "Thank you Speaker and thank you elders for being here." I straighten my body posture and look at the straight ahead but not at the face of my uncle. "Wise ones, I am not the only one who felt a portal open in the north. Others can confirm this event. I am here to tell you that our world is being invaded by Shao Kahn, ruler of Outworld, and we must take action, or at the least, I must take action."

"Speak as you will." my uncle says to the elders.

An elder of the House of Eagles responds, "What do you have in mind, Teoitotiatzin?"

"Elder, I am asking for the permission of all those present in this room to let me go and aid the outside world."

Another responds, "What are you suggesting? The outside world has been through terrible events and it has recovered. The Great Lords are actively helping them. Why should we?"

"Elder, that has been the case, but I sense that greater dangers are arising. This could very well be the start."

"Did you have a vision?"

"Amo (No), but it is what I feel. I am also here to say: We have been isolated for centuries. I understand why and do not judge, nor feel anger towards my elders. But times have changed. Technology has improved and with that, greater dangers."

Another elder says rather angrily, "Why should we help them? Those white men that have harmed not only our neighbors, but do nothing to atone for their ancestors' action towards the indigenous peoples of all over the world."

"I understand you concern Elder, but if the world has changed so much in the past century and a half, then we must change as well; we must open up ourselves to world and if you do not wish to do that then it is alright, but you must let me help."

The elder of the House of Eagles asks gently, "What specific plan do you have in mind should we approve of your request?"

"Great Elder, I plan on approaching the Essential Spirits themselves," I see that some elders' eyes widen in shock, "and do what must be needed. Our people will not partake a part in this plan. I am the sole representative. I can not only serve the Essential Spirits, but serve as a diplomat should I need to make deals with other nations."

Another elder asks, "Do you understand that we do not wish to open ourselves to the rest of the world immediately?"

"I understand Elder."

"What do you plan to do about it?"

"I plan on keeping my presence a secret to the rest of the world and let my, or our, selves known by a chosen few."

"Who would those chosen few be?"

"For now, I see that we only need the Essential Spirits to know that I am taking action. Should there be more danger and a need for cooperation between more groups, I will let myself be known by the 'White Lotus' and 'Special Forces.'"

"I see."

I look at each of the elders' faces and see that the majority are not convinced. Come on. The elder of the House of Eagles rises, turns towards my uncle, bows, and says, "Speaker, I am sorry to interrupt, but I have a message of most utter importance."

"Speak, Elder." my uncle responds.

"My fellow council members, when I recently became a member and when Teoitotiatzin was only an infant, her father approached me and told me that he had saw in his dream something and he entrusted to me his dying wish should something happen to him. He told me that should a day of danger come and Teoitotiatzin feel a desire to break free, then we should let her, without any trouble from other authority."

The other elders softly gasped and I heard one whisper, "Yeicuetzpalintzin had a vision that long ago about her?" Then another said, "If that was Yeicuetzpalintzin's dying wish, then have to choice but to fulfill it."

The elder that was starting to get on my nerves retorted, "How to we know you are telling the truth? Do you have another witness?"

The other elder responded, "I do not have another witness, but you can look into my spirit should you really require proof."

"I am your witness." I turned around and the elder turned their heads towards the entrance to find my mother there. Na? She looks at me and smiles. She announces, "Although, I was not actually there at that exact moment. Pardon me Speaker and elders." She bows at the last part.

"Omeuitzilitzin." Many elders respond while bowing their heads in respect.

"Just after my mate told him, he told me. You can also look into my spirit should you require proof," my mother said smiling. My uncle smiled back.

The elder against my plan spoke, "Omeuitzilitzin, there is no need I believe you."

The last wishes of former speakers were honored greatly and should be accomplished at any cost. Should they be reasonable of course. So my uncle, with relief said, "Very well. First of, Teoitotia has a well-formulated plan. Does anyone have any objections?" Silence. "Does anyone not want to allow her, alone, to go out into the world and start the process of letting ourselves be known?" Silence. "Then we can say that Teoitotia has my permission as well as those of the elders, to venture out and complete her mission on her set terms. Thank you for attending this urgent matter. Teoitotia, I believe you should hurry. A few hours have already passed. You are on your own. You are all dismissed." He starts to stand up and his attendant leans over to support his lower arm. As soon as he leaves, the elders stand up, wish me luck, and leave. The elder of the House of Eagles approaches me. "May luck be with you." I respond, "Tlazokamati, Great Elder. For everything. We can speak further when I return." He bows his head to my mother and I, and leaves.

"Let us go and speak with your uncle," my mother says.

"Quema."

We find him getting himself comfortable to continue his recordings. I speak first, "Tlazokamati uncle, for this chance. I know you feel uncomfortable with these changes."

"You are most welcome and true, that I am, but remember, you are the next in line and must know how to handle these types of matters. They were bound to happen sometime soon, if not in my reign, then in yours," he assures me.

"Where did all this wisdom come from uncle?" I ask in a playful manner.

"Something must have struck my head," he says supressing his chuckle.

"You must go. Change and gather your necessities, Teoitotia," my mother says urgently.

"Quema. I will leave go to the house." Before I leave, my mother hugs and kisses me, then my uncle hugs me as well saying, "Teoitotia of the House of Black Stone and Immature Maize, make us all proud. Now go." I go outside the entrance of the room, bow, clench my fists, pull my arms back slightly, lift my left leg, and simultaneously stomp my leg and straighten out my arms aiming towards the earth. At that instant, the earth swallows me and I am traveling underground and the earth spits me out inside my room where my clothes are. I grab obsidian knives, spear, and macahuitl (with extra blades) one at a time, hold them in my open hands, and wish for them to become a part of my spirit. Then they vanish. I pick out my clothes and take a quick shower (Nahua elite showered up to 2 times per day, also why would you not shower if you were to go meet important people?).

Then I dress; I put on my dark green jade nacochtli (earplugs), circular sputum jewelry, and a short necklace of black-painted jaguar bones and a white jaguar tooth, put my neck-length hair into a temillotl (search it up) and wrap it with a red band with quetzal feathers, put on a plain white, linen maxtlatl (loincloth) with red bands on the ends and a white hipcloth bordered in red, wrapped a flesh-colored, linen cloth around my small breasts (because the outside world is very uncomfortable with nudity and will not pay attention to you), tied my tilmatl (cloak), white with tenixyo (also search that up) that reached to right above my ankles, over my right shoulder, and put on gold wrist bands. Lastly, I put on my sandles made of deer skin. I don't know if I need my moccasins or not, so I stored them just in case.

I walked to the northwestern border, looked back towards my village, and thought, "For my people, ancestors, and father." Shifted into a golden eagle and flew towards the White Lotus Headquarters.
