So, I realized that in my daydream, I wasn't very specific as to how certain things would lead up to another thing, but I'm sure you guys would be happy if I skipped them. Maybe not now, but later on you guys will. So on with the show!

Teoitotia's POV:

3 Months Later...

Fujin visited us quiet...a lot of times now. He spends most of his free time inside our magical dome, but when we're not there, we spend it isolated in nature. We did the stuff we always did; talk, train, and explore. He doesn't spend a significant portion of his time watching movies anymore. I was amused when he told me that that was what he usually did when he had free time, which was a lot. Ever since he went to check on Jackson Briggs after the whole Revenant situation, they seemed to hang out when I'm not available. It really is amusing that a powerful being did..mundane things. The no-good spirits seem to have calmed down. Today, Fujin and I decided to train at a part of the coast of the Mexican state of Guerrero where there are too many dangerous cliffs for people do settle there. No one was there for miles. We were training our balance to the extremes. We tried to knock each other off balance without destroying the platforms we stood on. He caught me twice, but I caught him six times already. We were allowed to use all of our gifts besides shapeshifting. He had supreme control over the wind and over his spirit like any teotzin should, but I had control over all the elements and supreme control over my spirit. I was almost an absolute master in every sense over my spirit. I discovered new tricks, but he fell behind after I taught him a while ago. He was only working with what he had. He said that I wasn't even trying, but I didn't say anything. After our training, we sat on the edge of the cliff that was farthest from land. Our feet were hanging as we talked about our flaws and strengths.

"Your spirit control really is an a whole new level."

I looked at him with a blank stare, then I smiled. "The only reason I knocked you off more times is because you fell behind in your spirit training."

"You seem to adapt really fast. I tried different fighting techniques I know you have never seen and you countered it rather quickly."

I laughed. "My mother made sure I picked up everything our people have ever learned and I learned many things on my own."

We fell into a comfortable silence that then turned into an uneasy silence. I wanted to say something that was on my mind that I haven't realized until a few days ago, but I couldn't get the words through my mouth. He spoke first and I turned to face him and had only one leg hanging off the cliff. He was looking down and sat up straighter. His body language reflected nervousness.

"Teoitotia...I...I've realized some things and after careful reflection-" my heart was starting to pound fast enough that almost the only thing I hear is my blood flowing through my body, "I have to ask-" He moved to position his body like mine and there was a few seconds of silence, but it was deafening. He looked into my eyes. "Will you allow me to court you?"

Holy ancestor of mine.

It felt like my spirit fell through my body. I stared at him and I saw that he wanted to break eye contact. After a few seconds of silence, I finally said, "I was about to tell you the same thing. Although, a little differently." His face lightened up and I could have sworn his eyes did too. "I guess you can say I did a little self-reflecting too." I felt my cheeks redden and I looked down at the ocean. Then I moved my eyes to look at his face...and he was smiling so I quickly looked back at the ocean to prevent my face from getting redder than it was already. I could tell that he was enjoying this too much.

General Teoitotiatzin, a no-good spirit captain escaped its prison and went rouge. One of the spirit warriors that went to check up on it was injured, but she should be fine.

It was the Supreme Junior General. My face was a bit more serious and I tilted my head slightly more. Fujin must have understood that someone was communicating with me. Before he said anything, I said, "I'm needed elsewhere." I turned my head back to see his concerned face. I grinned at him and put a hand flat on the ground where he couldn't see it. "Well then, catch me if you can." I slid my hand towards the ocean and the earth pushed me towards the ocean so I went flying. I landed in the ocean and my spirit propelled me into the land and just before I hit the land. I moved my hands and wrists in the way that forced the land to curve into half a sphere. I landed softly and the earth engulfed me.

Fujin's POV:

I smiled like the happiest being alive as Teoitotia threw herself into the ocean. My existence could end right now and I would be fine with that. I pushed myself off the cliff and before I fell halfway the cliff's height I shifted into the winds. I landed on top of the Sky Temple and jumped down from the roof. I waved my hand across the stone door to the Jinsei Chamber. As soon as it opened, I saw that Kojin and Sarutahiko were in the middle of a conversation. They turned their heads to look at me.

"What's this? Fujin smiling?" said Kojin taking a step back when I got within conversation distance from him. I didn't realize that I was smiling and quickly moved my muscles to my usual look.

"What occurred, brother-in-arms?" asked Sarutahiko taking interest.

I sighed. "Well, if you really want to know-"

Kojin interrupted me and said with a smile, "I think I know..."

Sarutahiko rolled his eyes and told me, "Continue."

I avoided making eye contact with either of them and crossed my arms. "A few days ago, I did some self-reflection and I was thinking about my increased exposure to the Tliltetepah. I was in their home almost every three days I started to wonder, why was I getting too attached to them? But I realized that I was actually becoming attached to Teoitotia-"

Kojin interrupted me and laughed. With a smile he said, "You asked if you could court her didn't you?"

Sarutahiko turned his head to face him. "I told you." He grinned. "I win...you know what."

Before their conversation went any further, I interrupted them, "You both knew where I was heading down this path before I did?"

I uncrossed my arms and Sarutahiko said, "Of course, I knew it before any of you. The Nahuas don't call me 'Smoking Mirror' for nothing. I saw your behavioral change. It started off normal as it does when you meet someone new that has the potential to become your comrade, but your behavioral change signaled something else. Coming up with the conclusion is easy from there. Since I see Kojin more often, I explained my thought process and seemed to agree with it after thinking about it. We made a bet. Remember, this was about a year ago. I said that it would take you about a year to figure it out, clueless as you are. Kojin said that it would take about half a year."

Once he was done, I asked, "What about Raiden?"

Kojin answered, "Oh Raiden... He spends most of his time with Earthrealm's champions that he barely noticed your behavior. You immediately switch back to your normal self by the time you meet with him, so there were no clues you could have offered him."

I let out a deep sigh. Sarutahiko grabbed my shoulder. "No need to worry. However, when you tell Raiden about your 'revelation,' let us know beforehand. I want to see him flustered with that information."

I had enough and have been trying to keep my emotions in check for quite a while now. "Alright, you two can go back to your stations."

I sensed that Sarutahiko understood why I said that. He had a small smile on his face and pulled Kojin along. "Let's go Kojin."

Once they were gone, I stood standing where I was, looking at the ground. The only sound heard was the Jinsei moving around. I kind of don't want to tell Raiden. I know why he would be shocked. If I told everyone else, they would see her as primitive and undeserving of my feelings. Who knows what the world would try to do. Argus' wife, Delia, had it hard enough, and Edenians were more open-minded than most Earthrealmers today. My saddened stare turned into a determined face and I looked at the Jinsei. I will be with her. Even if it means only ever meeting her in secret.

... ... ... ... ...

One Year Later...

Teoitotia's POV, Age 35:

Fujin only spent his free time in Tliltetepetl. We have been testing each other's limits and opening ourselves more to each other. I thought back to about year ago, when I told my mother, grandmother, and uncle about my...situation.

Flashback

After Fujin and I made it official that we would be exclusive to each other (not that Fujin had that problem in the first place), I wanted to tell my mother that night. When I walked into our home, she was moving water around meditating.

"Na. Can I speak with you for a moment?"

She sent the water back in the ceramic bucket and turned to look at me. "Of course. Should I sit down?" she asked raising her eyebrow.

Oh great. I feel like she's already suspicious about what I have to tell her. "Let us sit, Na." Once she sat on her knees and I on my short stool, I started, "Na, you see how uncle Iztakoatl has been kind of pushing me to seek a mate so we could start the courting process that could eventually lead to marriage because he wants to start preparing to step down so I could take over?"

She nodded, so just as I was about to continue, I felt myself start to blush. But my she interrupted me, "You found someone."

I moved my head back a bit. "That wasn't a question."

She smiled and looked at me like I was blind to something I could easily have seen. Then she started to tell me:

Flashback within a flashback (What the hell is happening?)

Teoitotia's Mother's POV:

I saw Teoitotia with the Great Lord of the Wind walking around the farm fields from a hill quite far from them. A group of hunters passed by them and one of them stopped to say to her, "Teoitotiatzin, you look as beautiful as a white flower within a garden of dirt." He was openly flirting with her and Ehecatzin subconsciously reacted and gave the man a hardened look. The man apologized and went to catch up with his party. Ehecatzin then brought up a favorite philosophical topic of hers. My face showed shock in realization.

Oh great ancestor of mine.

He's courting her.

End of flashback within a flashback

I stared at her as she finished her story. I felt my face and ears burn in embarrassment. "You knew this whole time that I, and he, were harboring feelings!? Most important of all, you knew he was, technically subconsciously, courting me!? And you never said anything!?"

She looked at me more seriously now. "Had I told you, you could have panicked and done something you would have regreted the rest of your life. It could have even led to you committing suicide..."

My face softened. "Na." I pulled her into a hug.

While still in my embrace, she tearfully said, "I knew that it was no coincidence that two spirits such as yourselves would spend as much time together."

Before she continued, my eyes widened and I pulled her back from me. Oh my... "Na, when I first started training him to move his spirit beyond his body, mine went forward as if to meet him. It was like I lost control. Na, I never lose control."

She wiped her eyes. "Your spirit must have known far earlier than I did."

My grandmother slipped right through our guard and was by the door when she asked, "Whose spirit knew what before you?"

Oh man.

End of Flashback

When I told my uncle that I was in the process of courting and being courted, he was happy. When he asked who it was, I told him, almost whispering, that it was the Spirit of the Wind. His eyes widened and almost dropped his spear like he forgot how to use his hands.

I chuckled at the memory. I couldn't stop whatever rumors were spread around my people. I let them say what they did. Fujin and I never confirmed anything because we had to keep it a secret. My uncle forced anyone who went outside our protective dome to never speak about Fujin visiting or interacting with me. I'm sure Fujin wanted to keep our situation a secret for different reasons than mine.

Recently, I have been feeling the urge to conduct our ritual...and other things. I'm not sure if he felt the same things, but I was too embarrassed to ask. Any kind of action like kissing and hugging (and other things) was prohibited until marriage, so we only held each other's hands and caressed each other's faces. A few days ago, I told Coyotlantli about Fujin and I. His reaction was more funny than my uncle's. He then told me that he was planning on marrying a young woman form the House of Reeds. It was my turn to make fun of him so I did.

I waited for Fujin on a hill near the farm fields where no one could see us. He can now teleport inside the protective dome without having to ask my uncle for permission every time. Coyotlantli was keeping me company.

"Eh, have you heard that Setototl's hunting party was planning on challenging us to a game (The mesoamerican ballgame)? They think they have enough skill. I'll tell you-"

Winds furiously gathered on an area above the crops and out came Fujin, who landed on a cleared path. I stood up and walked towards him as Coyotlantli stayed behind. Fujin held up his forearms with his palms facing up. I reached to put our forearms together as we looked each other in the eye.

"Was everything alright?" I asked.

"The Neatherrealm demons just became restless and tried to break into Earthrealm. They were taken care of."

We unlinked arms and he looked up to Coyotlantli. He nodded to him and Coyotlantli greeted him with a bow.

Teoitotia-

Oh come on.

I looked up to Fujin. "My uncle demands my presence. It seems the elders want to speak about something."

He nodded and said, "I will wait for you here."

I shifted into an eagle and flew towards the House of Laws.

Fujin's POV:

Coyotlantli was still here and I called to him in a low voice, knowing that he could hear me, "Coyotlantli, would you mind if I had a moment with you?"

He nodded and came from down the hill. "How may I help you, Great Lord?"

I was beginning to get a little flustered, but I went on before my face showed it. "What are your traditions regarding asking permission for marriage?"

If he was surprised, he didn't show it. "Go to the eldest female of her house. In this case, approach her grandmother. Tell her that you have intentions for marriage and ask for her permission. Should she say yes, then she will tell the rest of her house that you have intentions on marrying Teoitotia. Then, you could ask her yourself. If she says yes, then you have nothing else to worry about. She will tell her grandmother of her answer and things will go smoothly from there." (This was legitimately a tradition of some ancient Nahuas)

I paid extremely close attention to his instructions. "Is there anything else I should know?"

That question seem to have gotten him flustered and there was a faint blush on his cheeks. "Well, I suppose I should tell you of one thing..."

He looked around to see or hear if there were any witnesses. When the coast was clear, he let our a heavy sigh and half-whispered, "Since no one will probably tell you this, I might as well. On the day you both consummate your union, you will undergo a highly sacred ritual that bonds you both. It involves manipulating your spirits, and I will leave it at that. She's part female and the second act is...a female thing." He was beginning to get more red, but he pushed himself. "You know that we essentially have two sets of instincts combined into one." I nodded. I never put it that way, but I noticed that. "At a certain point, she will become vulnerable...extremely vulnerable. I won't say much more besides, to treat her gently and not break her trust, or that will end your relationship, and she will commit suicide...and you would follow." He continued to look down and I felt my face become slightly pale. That was an extreme concern for her family because if she was gone, not only did their strong-spirited relative die, but their line would no longer continue. Teoitotia told me that having her cousins take over wasn't the same thing because her house groomed her her whole life to make sure she was ready to take over as tlatoani. Not only did she know much more, but the people respected and were loyal to a strong spirit with a honorable personality leading them. Then he asked, "May I take my leave, Great Lord?" I blinked a few times and said, "Of course." He left as a coyote with his tail between his legs and ran until I no longer saw him.

My heart was pounding and I tried to calm down by breathing. After a few minutes of standing in the fields, I assumed that Teoitotia's meeting would last a bit longer. I walked up the fields to find her grandmother. I walked along the part of the village where the houses were more spread apart. Teoitotia told me that her grandmother loved to be in the fields because that was where she met her mate. I asked her why the leading family did things meant for commoners. She said that it was a way to understand and connect with the people. Also, it let them connect with the world in general. Then she got philosophical and said, "A true tlatoani joins his or her people in daily life. Sure, there has to be one that has to deal with all the political and military issues, but if they have a mate, they (the mate) will speak for both of them in those daily activities." If her grandmother wasn't in the fields, she was at their home cooking and cleaning. Teoitotia told me that her grandmother usually did those basic things because it not only reminds her of the past times, but it gives her alone time, which she doesn't get very often while advising her uncle, helping her aunt, and taking care of her cousins (they were still very young by their terms).

I walked to the House of Malinalli. At the doorway, I greeted its residents. "Cualli tiotaqui." (Good afternoon)

Teoitotia's grandmother look up from her embroidering instruction to Teoitotia's two female cousins. She responded, "Niltze, Ehecateotzin. (Hello, Wind Spirit) How may I be of help?"

Teoitotia's cousins stood up, bowed, and greeted after her, "Niltze, Great Lord."

"Niltze, Itzatetl and Huitzlampatocht." I nodded. I looked at the wise woman. "May I speak with you for a moment?"

She turned to the girls, "Iztatetl and Huitzlampatocht, take these cacao beans and go see if Koztixochitl (Yellow Flower) has any more black and red cotton thread."

The girls took the cacao beans and before they left, they bowed to me again and said in unison, "Xiauh ica cualtzin." (Goodbye)

"Ye niauh," (Goodbye) I responded.

They left and the grandmother signaled for me to sit on the short stool, "Please, sit." I sat and she repeated, "How may I be of aid?"

Now or never as they say. "Cihuatlapianitzin, I intend on marrying Teoitotia and I came here to ask for your permission." I raised my hand with my palm upward and bowed my head down a little bit.

I waited for her to respond. Then she asked, "Great Lord of the East, you last forever no matter what form. When she reaches the age of 180 years old, her body will start to break down. About 30 years from then, will you be willing to take care of a woman who cannot even stand up from her own bed? Who cannot easily feed herself? Who will perhaps lose most of her senses due to her battles in her youth? She, or should I say he, who is both female and male? She who is both good and no-good? She who has people to speak for; who will become your own? Should she die, would you be strong enough not to join her? For the sake of Earthrealm?"

Wait what? I know she believes in things I don't agree with all the way, but "female and male?" I quickly let it pass my mind. I can deal with that later. "I, Fujin, Spirit of the Wind, Great Lord of the East, will take care of her no matter her condition. She could be like that tomorrow, and I would still marry her. She is an odd one, but I accept all her flaws if she accepts mine. I accept the responsibility of being co-tlatoani should she marry me. Should she die, I will use all the willpower of the south to live on for the sake of my responsibilities as a teotzin."

She had a saddened face throughout and as I finished, she had didn't show any emotions. Then she said, "Spirit of the Wind, Great Lord of the East, Queztalkoatl-Ehecatzin, you have my permission to propose to my grandchild." She smiled at the end. I immediately went in for a hug.

"Tlazocamati huel miac." (Thank you very much - "Tlah-soh-kah-mah-ti oo-eh-l me-ahk")

She hugged me in return and then I let her go. She asked, "When do you plan on asking her?"

"I would like to ask her tomorrow just at sunrise."

"I will tell my house in the morning."

"I know that at the union ceremony, gifts are exchanged. What do you think she would like?"

She thought for a moment. "I would suggest you ask her mother."

"I see. Thank you again." I stood up and bowed at her. "Until we meet again."

She bowed in return. "May luck be with you."

I walked out of the house and went back to the fields. It was already dark. I looked beyond the dome and saw the clear sky. I heard a jaguar give a low roar. I turned around and saw her.

I apologize. I was needed more time than usual. It was a meeting pertaining to the tribes of the north.

"You should go rest then."

What I need to do, is hunt. I haven't done it in quite a while. Would you care to come along?

"Lead the way."

She took off south. I followed her as winds. I was now able to control the speed of my teleportation. When she stopped, I sat on a tree at the end of a small hill followed by a river. She lowered herself and almost touched the ground. She seemed to have her eyes set on her prey. I sat on a thick branch and silently watched. I dared not move a muscle. She moved to the river banks which was were a few meters above the river itself. She looked at the dark waters and stayed still. She moved her head along, making sure her prey was in her direct line of sight. Nothing moved and all was silent. Then she pushed herself into the river and made a large splash. I moved my head to follow her as she furiously moved trying to subdue her prey that I finally saw to be a crocodile slightly longer than her. Amazing. The splashing stopped and I knew that she captured it. She held it in her jaws and moved along to the river bank that was at the same level as the river. I moved along. She dragged the corpse out with a growl. She let it fall and looked at me. You can go home should you wish. "I think I will just lie on this tree. I'll wait for you." I leaned back on the tree and closed my eyes. I heard bones breaking and muscle being ripped from each other.

After those sounds stopped, I opened my eyes and saw her underneath my tree. I stepped down. We held onto each other's forearms.

"You should go rest now," I said in concern.

She chuckled. "You should go do what is expected of you then. I'll run home. I like a good run after a hunt. You can go home."

We paused for a bit and then I asked, "Would you like to go to Mixtepetl (Literally "Cloud Mountain" and it's a made up mountain) to see the sunrise?" This wasn't the first time I asked her, but the first time we did this was the day I concluded that I had feeling for her.

"Of course."

I wanted to do other things to her, but it's not appropriate in her culture until marriage. She let me go and stepped back. "We'll see each other in a few hours then."

She nodded and I went back to the Sky Temple. My mind wandered to the day I told Raiden about Teoitotia and I.

Flashback

Raiden didn't have much to do that day so I decided to inform him about my...status, so to speak. I found Raiden, Kijon, and Sarutahiko having a conversation I stood by them and once they finished, I asked, "May I have some words with you Raiden?" Kojin and Sarutahiko looked at me like they knew what was going to happen and walked off. But I knew that they just went to hide so they could hear Raiden's reaction.

He turned to me. Concerned, he asked, "What is it?"

"Nothing of extreme concern, Raiden. Please relax." He did and I continued without making eye contact, "I see no need to drag this out so," I looked at him, "I would like to inform you that I am courting someone." His eyes widened and blinked in extreme surprise, but kept a straight face. "You already know this spirit; Teoitotia." I kept on looking at him in the eye and saw that he stumbled trying to find the words.

After a few seconds of silence, he lifted his arm to touch my shoulder and spoke, "It is indeed, surprising news. I never expected something like this."

"Neither did I," I said honestly.

"I suppose a congratulations is an order," he said with a small smile and I did so too in return.

End of flashback

I chuckled. Ever since that day, my bothers-in-arms became slightly more easygoing with Teoitotia. She was shocked by their sudden change in behavior. I snapped out of my thoughts and went about my duties. A few hours.

I'm getting so hooked to my story that I'm basically neglecting the Underworld one. LOL. Thanks for reading! Please review! I would like some feedback!
