Satisfy my curiosity, would you? What do you hope to gain by taking the Trials? What do you desire most from this wicked world? Is it a need to reclaim something lost? Is it a need to prove your worth? Is it to gain more of the simple things in life? Maybe it's to satisfy a dark yearning we all have? Do you long for all of it? Or perhaps it's none of it?
The Boiling Isles. Named after the raging hot water of the Boiling Sea and composed of the fallen Titan's bones. From them, wild magic was born. It was so potent, all life on the Isles evolved from it. For years, witches and demons explored these powers freely. Through it, they gained the strength and wisdom to survive in such an unforgiving world.
But one day, I was chosen to be the messenger for the Titan. He told me, and me alone, that we were using magic all wrong. As the Titan's voice, his teaching took hold, and I became the Isles' first emperor. As only I had the strength and will to do what was necessary. And lead the Titan's children against the destructive forces that sought on undoing all that he is. With his voice to guide me, I paved the road to change; to bring order to the chaos.
But some chose to resist and thrive in the anarchy they wrought. So, I created the Coven System to keep the knowledge that threatened to bring ruin to us all in my hands alone. The mightiest of the coven's being the one made in my image: The Emperor's Coven. A monument to our order, to our prosperity.
"Well, lemme tell you what I think, your majesty; I think you're wrong about wild magic. Yeah, it's dangerous, but trying to contain it the way you are won't fix that. Magic is meant to be wild. And that's the beautiful thing about it. As for your little Emperor's Coven, you're not as powerful as you think you are. Others are starting to see the chinks in your gold-plated armor, too. And one day, they're gonna see an opportunity arise and go for it. Titan knows I will."
Perhaps, but that will be a story for another time. This story is about two girls. One takes the Trials to forge her destiny, while the other doesn't realize all she could ever need is right in front of her. For both, it's the end of one chapter in their lives. And the beginning of another.
So, I ask you once more; what do you hope to gain by taking the Trials? What do you desire most from this wicked world to be willing to risk your life for? Whatever it is in your heart, I promise you; it can all be found with us. That is if you can make it to the end… Pass the Trials, and everything will be yours. Everything that exists in this wicked world can all be yours.
