A/N – Thanks for the comments! This is going to be a bumpy ride. I'll need to move forward so I can age the kids before Patient 6 arrives, so I will be skipping through several years to show you what's going on in everyone's life once Liz's secret is revealed. Bear with me and again, don't try to do the math lol. I'm sorasing the kids.

I had to take out the references of Jason holding Danny the last time he saw him in chapter one because I realized that would not have been true with all the sorasing I'm doing and things occurring later. There is more of an age difference between Danny and Jake since I moved things around. The events still happened just at different timing. Usually, I don't post as fast so I can fix things like this, but I rushed posting so, sorry. This is difficult to keep straight.

Chapter 3

The plane ride back to Port Charles was quiet. They were on the same flight but seated separately.

Once they landed, Sam returned home to find Patrick waiting. "Helena is dead."

"Are you sure?"

Sam nodded. "Unfortunately, her secrets died with her. I'm going to have to accept that Jason won't remember and that he's gone forever."

He is surprised.

Taking his hand, she looks at his soulfully. "You're not my second choice. Patrick, will you marry me?"

"You didn't need to ask, but yes."

He kisses her passionately; glad the worst is over.

Nikolas burst into the conference room at ELQ to find Michael, Tracy, and Jason sitting there. "What is the meaning of this?" A security guard stood in the doorway ready to escort him out.

"I took the liberty of throwing your garish personal property into a box. Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out," Tracy said.

Jason smiled. "Payback is a bitch."

Nikolas is livid. "You will pay for this."

Jason stood. "I think I've paid enough at the hands of your insane family. If anything, you owe me. The fact that you came after this company, knowing how much her family meant to Emily, is disgusting and shows just who you are; a spoiled, narcissistic asshole, who thinks he's better than everyone else. Well, today, I'm better than you, so get the hell out of here and if you try to take over this company again, I will burn Cassadine Industries to the ground."

Michael fights a smirk. Uncle Jason is back. He might talk more, but his glare is still in full force.

Nikolas is dragged to the elevator as he yells and threatens revenge.

Thanksgiving at the Quartermaines gets more interesting when Sam and Patrick arrive to find Jason there with Liz and the boys.

Jason eyed them for a second. "Hi."

Patrick held out his hand and they shake.

"Happy Thanksgiving, Patrick," Liz said before they warmly embrace.

"How is it in there?"

"Tracy is moody, and Monica is annoyed. It's a good show."

Sam almost rolled her eyes.

The boys take off leaving the adults in an awkward moment. Luckily, Monica rescues them by ushering them into the dining room.

"I'll get the kids," Sam said.

She headed to the den and then stopped right before she entered.

"I heard a secret," Jake said. Danny is a lot younger than him, but he's not too annoying and usually doesn't repeat what they say.

Danny frowns. "From who?"

"My mom and Grandmom Laura."

"Was it good?"

Jake shrugged.

Sam wonders if her suspicion is true. "Boys!"

"Yes?"

"Come eat dinner. You can play video games afterward."

"Okay."

They make their way back into the dining room. For once, the meal wasn't ruined and there was a lot of laughter.

When they were finished, mostly everyone returned to the sitting room.

"I'll help," Liz said.

Alice smiled. "Thanks, but you don't have to."

"I don't mind. I'm used to it." She grabbed some plates and Sam reluctantly helped as well.

When they were finished, the women faced each other.

"So, having fun playing house?" Sam said.

"It's not what you think."

"But you're hoping it goes back to the way things were, aren't you?"

Liz sighed. "What is your problem now, Sam?"

She moved closer. "I think you know something, and I really can't wait to bust you on it. I'm not going to stop until I figure it out."

Liz rolled her eyes. "Knock yourself out…"

Sam left and Liz is lost in thought; hoping that her house of cards isn't about to crumble.

The next day, Sam is pleased when Liz accepts an invitation for Jake to spend time with Danny.

"I'm going to get my Nintendo," Danny said before running upstairs leaving Jake with his mother.

"So, Jake, how are things going?"

Jake shrugged.

She can't understand why Jake doesn't warm up to her.

"Do you get to see your grandmother Laura very often?"

"Sometimes she comes over to see us, but not a lot."

"It must be nice to see her. I know Danny loves seeing my mom. Do you miss your dad?"

Jake looks up. "Which one?"

"Lucky, I mean he is the dad that you remember, right?"

"He brought me home, but left again, so…" He has no respect for the man and is glad he's out of their lives.

"He has always loved you."

"That's what they all say."

"Jason loved you too. He was trying to protect you."

Danny runs toward them as his mother seethes. It's time to go straight to the source. She calls Laura to arrange a meeting.

At the hospital, Carly eyes Liz and then approaches her.

"You need to let Jason go."

Liz looks up as her brow lifts. "We are engaged."

"You're trying to trap him."

"Then I would be taking a play out of your playbook. Don't be mad at me because new Jason doesn't want you or Sonny."

Carly pointed in her face. "You don't want him to remember or figure out who he is because you know he'll dump your pasty ass—again."

"That's wishful thinking, Carly babes. Maybe Sonny needs to find a new enforcer for his weird ménage-a-trois because this Jason wants nothing to do with being at your beck and call twenty-four seven and rescuing you from your selfishness and stupidity. And let's face it, you would kill for skin like mine."

She walks away leaving an angry Carly behind.

Laura sighs. "Sam, there is no secret."

"Maybe the secret is that you and Liz knew all along."

Jason arrives and is surprised to see Laura.

"I just stopped by because I heard about Helena and was concerned. I'm glad you are alright," she said before quickly leaving.

"You want to tell me what was really going on?" Jason asked.

"Dad, can we go home?" Jake said. He's had enough.

"Sure, son."

Jake whispers to Sam that he won't tell anyone about her secret, and they leave as she wonders what the hell he's talking about. Could Helena have said something to him?

Patrick and Alexis arrive.

"I heard with happened with Helena. Maybe it's time to put the past where it belongs."

She knows exactly what her mother is inferring. "I will call you when I'm ready to end the marriage."

Alexis leaves.

"How could you," Sam said.

Patrick is stunned that she's made that he invited her mother over. "We all agreed that this is the next step."

"You are trying to manipulate me."

His jaw drops. "I have to wonder why you are trying to hold back on the divorce all of a sudden. Did you have a change of heart?"

She turns away from him and blinks back her tears.

Jason sits next to Jake on his bed. He had heard what Jake said to Sam. "So, I know you and Sam have a secret. Do you need to talk to me about it?"

Before Jake can respond, Elizabeth enters.

"Hey, guys."

"Hi, mom."

Jake runs to his room. Helena had taught him how to play games with people to get what you want and he intends to do so with Sam. For now, he'll remain silent about what she did in the past to him, Cam, and his mom.

"Is everything okay?" She puts her purse and keys on a table.

"I just feel so lost and I don't know if I'm moving forward or backward."

She bites her lip and just grasps his hand. "I don't want to be the cause of that. I'm willing to break off the engagement so you can figure things out if that is what you want." Hopefully, she isn't making a huge mistake, but she's worried about him and doesn't want to cause him more pain.

He is speechless.

Sam takes a deep breath and then turns back around. "I just feel like you should have more compassion considering that you went through something similar with Robin."

"Sam, what am I supposed to do? You are giving me whiplash. One minute, you're asking me to marry you, and the next, you won't give him up. I'm trying to be patient, but you are not making it easy." Patrick is losing his patience.

She wiped a tear away. "I can't go through with the divorce until I know if Nikolas and Liz knew the truth the whole time." She explains what she overheard.

"I don't think Liz would lie about that."

"You don't know her at all. He deserves to know the truth!"

"I think you're trying to break them up to get him back."

"That's not true. I want a life with you."

He chuckled. "Do you? You say it but you won't walk away from him. You are still holding out hope."

"I love you."

"I know, but I don't think it's as much as I love you."

Elizabeth pulls her ring off and hands it to Jason. "Maybe you need to not be tied to anyone so you can make the decisions you need and decide whether you want to reclaim your old life or not."

"Why are you doing this?"

"I fought with Carly not to mention the countless fights with Sam. Everyone is so scared of losing you. Maybe it's time I just do the right thing."

"What do you want?"

She takes a deep breath. "I want you."

"You are all I want." He kisses her reverently before retreating. "I think we should drop this."

She nods, but she can tell that everything is about to change.

At the hospital the next day, Sam corners Elizabeth and they are unaware they have drawn an audience as Carly, Jason, Alexis, Max, Monica, Patrick, Nikolas, and Epiphany listen in.

"I think you have known the truth about Jason all along."

"Sam…"

"No! This ends right now. Jake told me that you and Laura have a secret. Laura confirmed it."

"You are lying!"

"I can see the fear in your eyes. You were probably glad that Helena died because she kept your secret." Sam's eyes go wide. "You almost confessed that day in the chapel, didn't you?"

Jason steps forward. "Is it true?"

Liz gasps as her gaze locks on him. "Jason…"

"Tell me, did you lie to me all of these months? How long have you known?"

A tear runs down her cheek. "Nikolas told me at the nurse's ball."

Carly gasps and charges towards them. "You bitch," she said before smacking Elizabeth hard.

She grabbed her cheek.

"You kept him away from his family!"

"He didn't remember them!"

"And that makes it okay?" Monica said.

"No—I just didn't know how to tell him because I didn't want to lose everything."

Carly pointed her finger at her. "You lie like you breathe. You claim to love him, but you just manipulated him so you could get your way."

Liz looked around wildly. "Enough! You don't understand how it was for me. I felt horrible about it, but I'm always the one that loses in love. Everyone does way more horrible things then I have, you included Carly, but you get the world. I get nothing!" she yelled. "I finally found a man I thought I could spend the rest of my life with and then find out he's the father of my son. I couldn't face it. I couldn't let him go."

"You are a selfish bitch."

Liz shoved her backward. "Takes one to no one, doesn't it? You have lied with the best of them, keeping Michael away from his father. God, since the day you came into this town, all you have done is tell lie after lie, not caring who you hurt. You slept with Franco after what he did to your son, so don't judge me!"

"It was a tumor. What you did to Sam—"

Liz screamed at the top of her lungs making everyone cringe and step backward. "Don't mention that bitch to me!"

"Elizabeth! You are the one that did wrong, not Sam," Monica said.

Liz laughed. "Of course, everything is always on me. I'm always the one that gets called out and publicly humiliated. Do you know what Sam did to my Jake?"

Sam gasped. "Stop this now!"

"No!" Liz said slightly turning. "You got away with it and still got to keep Jason after wishing that his son didn't exist."

Jason is stunned. "What are you talking about?"

"Your perfect little wife watched while my son was kidnapped by an unstable woman and did nothing. She stood there and then lied to the police and wouldn't help find him! She rubbed it in my face that he was gone every chance she got."

Monica gasped.

"She refused to help us find him. Then to make matters worse, she hired men with guns to scare me, Jake, and Cam in the park to get me away from you and seduced my husband not caring what that would do to my kids. So, you see, I'm not the only selfish bitch here."

"I made a mistake and froze. I was hurting!"

"And I wasn't? I was wrong! I know I was wrong. I should have told him, but it didn't take me two years to realize how horrible my mistake was, unlike you who went on such a path of destruction and were so mean-spirited. You did whatever you could to punish us."

"Did you even think about Danny?"

"I felt bad, but Danny doesn't remember him. He was thriving with Patrick, so I rationalized it. I told myself that even if I had told the truth, he doesn't remember any of us anyway."

"Haven't you put him through enough after you changed the DNA results?"

Everyone gasped.

"Yup, I lied for about eight hours and then told the truth because I felt bad about it. I didn't know he was Jason's son. Can you say the same?"

Everyone is silent for a moment.

"I hate you so much! I needed him," Carly yelled.

"It's always about Carly, Carly, Carly! When is it about Jason? All of you just use him and don't care what he wants."

"He doesn't know what he wants because he doesn't remember! And let's not forget all the lies you've told him."

"He wanted me. He wanted a family with me." She threw up her hands. "I'm sorry. You can't hate me more than I hate myself. There is nothing I can say to make this right."

"You're damn right there isn't," Carly muttered.

Jason is staring at Sam.

"I—you don't know how hard it was for me to see him get back with Sam after what she did. I know I forgave her, and I encouraged him to be with her because I just wanted him to be happy and I had already gone back to Lucky yet again. The truth is that I could never forget what she did. As usual, I never stood up for what I wanted. Finally, I have, and I went off the deep end," Liz said.

"You hurt Jake?" Jason said.

Sam wiped a tear away. "You had lied to me and I thought I couldn't have kids."

"So, you thought that hurting a child was the answer?" Monica said. "Jason, you have the absolute worst taste in women."

His eyes fixed on Elizabeth. "I can't believe you'd lie to me to this extent. I just—I don't—I can't even look at you right now and you," He turned toward Sam, "I can't believe I let you back in my life. What was I thinking? How could I betray my son and his mother like that?"

"Jason, we talked about this and you forgave me. We moved on."

He sucked in a sob. "She may have lied and kept me away from people I don't even remember, but you hated my son? You wanted him gone, Sam. You used a child to get revenge. Right now, I'm glad that I don't remember you. Would you even have told me?" He took off, just making it into the elevator before the doors shut.

A wail left Sam's lips as she collapsed, and Alexis ran towards her.

Epiphany headed towards Liz and steered her to the locker room.

"I screwed up big time, haven't I?" Liz said as she plopped onto a bench.

"I'm afraid so."

"Maybe I don't deserve him…"

Piph sighed. "Maybe not, but you deserve to be loved no matter how many times you have been hurt. I will never condone what you did, but I'm so glad you took those sanctimonious bitches down with you."

Liz sighed. "It did feel good, but now I just feel empty."

"What do you want to do?"

"Can we stay with you tonight? I just need to hide out for a few days and get my head on straight."

"Of course, who is watching the boys?"

"They are at school."

"Go pack and then pick them up and go to my house." She handed her a key. "There are two guest rooms, you can put the boys in one. Just bring their sleeping bags."

"Thank you, Piph."

"You're welcome."
