A/N – Thanks for the comments! You guys crack me up. Yes, the last chapter was dramatic, but this one is more serious in nature and will change everything.

Chapter 4

Carly burst into Sonny's office with Max right behind her. He pulled the door closed, but not all the way so he could hear them talk.

"That bitch Elizabeth and Nikolas knew that Jake was Jason all along."

Sonny frowned. "What?"

"She has known since the nurse's ball."

"That was months ago."

"I have to give it to her. I never thought she'd ever stoop this low. You should have seen how devastated Jason was."

"Why were you there?"

"I was meeting my mother at the hospital when Sam started accusing Elizabeth, and don't even get me started about her. Did you know that she watched Jake get kidnapped and just stood there and then did nothing to help find him when she knew where he was? She also hired men with guns to scare the kids and Elizabeth at the park."

"I knew."

Carly's head tilted. "And you encouraged Jason to get back with that bitch?"

"It's not like you haven't done things and realized later that you were sorry."

"She didn't sound too sorry to me."

"What's your point, Carly?"

She leaned onto the desk. "My point is that these bitches need to pay. I want you to go after Elizabeth for what she did."

"You want me to kill Elizabeth?"

Carly sighed. "I want that hypocritical bitch to disappear. I don't care what you do to her. Jason doesn't need that lying skank around him."

Sonny shook his head. "Elizabeth is Jake's mother."

"And? Jason can take care of him. Nikolas needs to go too. The Cassadines are like a stain on our town. He knew before Liz did. When it comes to your business, it's amazing how fast you're willing to take someone down, but when it comes to people like Sam, Ric, and now Elizabeth; people who hurt someone that you supposedly love and are loyal to, you look away and I'm sick of it. I can't lose him again. I don't have it in me."

He does agree about Nikolas but figures Jason will want to handle that. Ric was family and Sam—she was Jason's problem. "Maybe I can pay Elizabeth to leave or send her somewhere."

"Your loyalty needs to be to Jason. He has always had your back no matter what."

"I'll think about it."

She stomped out and Milo followed her so that Max could follow up with Sonny.

"What do you want me to do, boss?"

"I don't know. Elizabeth has always been a huge distraction. The lie about Jake ate Jason up and maybe it's time that she disappeared before she can do more damage."

"What about the kids?"

He rubbed the back of his neck. "Jason is probably so mad that he'll be glad to be rid of them, but he might want Jake."

"She just got him back." How could he even think about taking a child from a mother like that?

"I know, but you know Carly, if I don't jump on this, she'll do something stupid."

"Give me a day to try to think of a place and a plan."

Sonny nodded. "Alright, let me know what you come up with." He doesn't want to have to deal with it.

Max left and went to his apartment and made a call. "Francis, we have a big problem."

Johnny stared at his friend who had stood as he listened.

"What happened?"

"This guy who doesn't look like Jason showed up maybe eight months ago. Apparently, he had an accident and they had to do surgery. Anyway, he got involved with Elizabeth and I guess Nikolas knew he was Jason and told Liz and she lied for months, and now it all came out."

Francis had put him on speaker.

"Jesus…" Johnny said.

"Do you think it's Jason?" Francis asked.

"Maybe, but I'm not sure. Supposedly, there is a DNA test and some other things, but Helena Cassadine, who is dead, and Caesar Faison messed with his head and he has no memories at all, so it's sketchy."

Jason had told Francis and Johnny to make sure they protected Liz if something happened to him and she's in trouble, so they kept tabs via Max.

"What else?"

"The shit hit the fan and Carly is livid. It turns out Sam watched Jake get kidnapped back in the day and wouldn't help save him. She wanted him gone."

"And Jason let her back in?"

"Yeah, after Liz went back to that dickwad Lucky again, she even encouraged him."

"What idiots," Johnny muttered.

"Anyway, Carly hates Elizabeth and convinced Sonny to make her disappear."

"What!" the men said at once.

"I don't think he wants to kill her, just send her away, but I think he wants Jake to stay."

"Wait, I thought Jake was dead," Johnny said.

Everything had been such a mess that he had forgotten to tell them. "Helena had him. He's been home for a while. Lucky found him."

The other men are stunned.

"We can't let him take her," Johnny finally said.

"I agree. What do you want me to do?" Max asked.

"I want you to kidnap her and the kids and take her to your father. We'll meet you there."

"I'll do it." He ended the call and then dialed Paulie, his cousin. "Where is she?"

Paulie observed as Liz picked up the boys from school. "She just picked up the boys."

"Follow her and let me know where she goes and then stay back and watch. You only report to me. Sonny can't know."

Paulie is surprised but agreed. "Okay."

Max hung up the phone and called his dad.

"Hey, what's up?" Maximus said.

"We have a problem." He gave his father the cliff notes.

"A jet will be ready in two hours. Are you coming with them or staying there?"

"I'm staying here so I know what is going on. It will look too suspicious if Milo or I leave now."

"I agree. I'll take care of her." He'll bring them home as soon as he can.

"Francis and Johnny are on their way."

Maximus smirked. "I figured as much. I'll put them in the safe house near the lake. We own most of the grounds, so she can hide there."

"That's a good idea."

"Later."

Max tossed his phone on the bed and then went to get changed. The faster this happens, the better.

Jason sat on the grass near the lake in the backyard of the mansion. The life he knew had been shattered and not only that Jason Morgan is a complete and utter moron when it comes to women.

Alice sat next to him. "Are you okay?"

"No."

"I'm sorry." News travels fast and the whole family is aware of the fiasco. "Do you still love her?"

He sighed heavily. "Yes. I'm mad as hell, but at the same time, I don't remember anything. Maybe it would be different if I did. I don't know. I'm in love with her and I'm not sure how to turn that off."

"Elizabeth has been through a lot and I'm not saying I agree with her methods, but sometimes people reach their breaking point and do stupid things."

"Like Sam?"

"That's a little more complicated because she targeted a child. From what I understand from Lulu, Sam was hard to be around at that time and was quite cruel. She was shot and thought she couldn't have children, but is that an excuse? I don't think so." The younger woman had come to visit Tracy while the Q's were talking about what happened and filled them in.

"I don't remember her. What if I'm so screwed up that I still want a woman who would do that?"

"Jason wasn't normally the forgiving type, so I do think he loved her. Elizabeth forgave her, or at least she said she did, so maybe Jason thought it was okay. Lulu seemed to think that Liz encouraged you to be with Sam. Besides, Liz had already moved on, so maybe Jason was lonely." It was weird talking about him in the third person.

"I am starting to have flashes and it scares me."

"You have to face it if you want to move forward."

"I know."

"Maybe you should talk to Elizabeth tomorrow and hash it out."

He nodded.

"You have a child together, so you need to at least be civil."

"You're right."

"Come inside and you can sleep in your old room. You need some rest, and nobody will get by me."

He slightly smiled as he wiped his face. "Thank you."

IiIiIiIiIiIiIiIiIiIi

Patrick entered his house to find Sam on the couch.

"I know I'm probably the last person you want to see, but I've changed."

"That still doesn't negate what you did."

"It doesn't matter that I've changed, and everyone forgave me?"

"Sam, why are you here? You pretty have made it clear that you want Jason. I can't keep doing this. I won't put Emma through it either."

She stood. "I've already packed my things and they are in the car. Just know that I love you. I'm the same person that you fell in love with. That has to mean something."

"I'm not sure that it does because you love him more."

"Patrick…"

"Maybe you owe it to yourself to find out if you can make it work with him."

"I don't know if he'll forgive me."

"He has in the past."

She nodded. "I'm sorry."

"Me too."

She left and tears flooded his eyes.

Max and Milo picked the lock on Epiphany's door and then crept into the house. She grabbed a bat and then jumped out swinging, almost lopping Max's head off.

"What the hell are you two doing here?"

Liz slipped into the hallway. "What is going on?"

Max sighed. "Elizabeth, I need you to get the kids and come with me."

"Why?"

"Because if you don't, Sonny is going to do something stupid on behalf of Carly."

Her eyes widened.

"Is that fool planning on killing her?" Piph asked.

"I don't think so, but he wants her to disappear."

"Max, my life is here."

His brow rose.

She groaned. "You have a point. I don't have a life here anymore. What about Jake? Jason would miss him."

"To be honest, I'm not convinced he's Jason. DNA tests can be faked. There are just too many things that don't add up."

Liz sighed. "I think you're wrong."

Her love for the man is clouding her judgment. "Sonny will let you leave with Aidan and Cam, but not Jake."

Liz and Epiphany are livid. "There is no way in hell that I'm leaving my son." It just chaps her hide that Sonny is being so cruel when she had been so kind to him in the past.

"Then come with me."

"Where?"

He gazed at Epiphany.

"I won't tell anyone. You know that. I would never endanger their lives."

"I'm taking them to my father. A jet is waiting. There is a small village near a lake. You'll stay there. It's owned by my father. Elizabeth, you can't come back here. It's not safe."

She swallowed hard. Truth be told, it's not like she has a lot of friends here and if Jason does remember and goes back to Sam, she'd hate having to watch them be together again. "Okay."

"Elizabeth…" Piph is pissed that she must run away because of that bitch, Carly.

"I'm sorry, but I have to do what is right for the boys. They are all that matter now. I'm done with dating, engagements, marriage—I'm going to focus on raising them. I've always wanted to go to Italy. There's nothing here for me but heartache. He won't forgive me, Piph."

"You don't know that. He's just hurt. You're running away, Elizabeth."

"I know, but my boys are growing and need a better example. Can you believe that Jake is thirteen?" She hates that Helena had kept him away from her for so long. He is so different now and moody. It's hard dragging out what happened to him on the island, but he seems to not mind seeing his therapist.

"He's growing so fast."

Liz wiped a tear away. "I have to do this, Piph."

They embraced.

"Maybe someday, I can visit."

"We would love that."

She retrieved the suitcases and toys she had packed and handed them over and Milo and Max packed the truck and then helped her wake up the boys and hustle them inside. Thankfully, they were tired and didn't ask a lot of questions.

Elizabeth and Epiphany hugged once more before they left and then Max sped to the airport and got them settled on the plane. Maximus had contacted two undercover men and they are there as well to help Liz with whatever she needs.

IiIiIiIiIiIiIiIiIiIi

The next day, Sonny yelled for Max.

"Yes, boss?"

"Did you figure anything out?"

"Well, my father has some safe houses in central Canada. I could ask him. No one would look for her there and we could keep an eye on her."

Sonny thought for a moment. Once he pulled the trigger to put this in motion, it can't be stopped. "Do it."

"What about Jake?"

"Let her take him. Jason gave him up before for his safety. Once he remembers, he'll be okay with it."

"Carly might not be happy about it."

"She'll have to deal."

"I'll make it happen today."

About two hours later, a disheveled Jason showed up.

"Jason, what's wrong?"

"I can't find Elizabeth and the kids."

He frowned. There was no way Max had done anything yet.

"Are you sure?"

"The suitcases are gone. The kids didn't go to school and she didn't show up for work."

Sonny sighed. "Maybe it's for the best."

Jason exploded. "How the fuck is it okay that my son is gone? I love those kids and her."

"She betrayed you!"

"So did you!" He froze, not even knowing where that came from.

"You remember?"

Jason shook his head. "I have to find her."

"I'll do what I can."

"But you want her gone?"

"She has always been your Achilles heel. She has lied to you about Jake and asked you to give him up. She changed Danny's DNA test. I don't hate her, but she has hurt you so much."

"I think I've hurt her too."

"Yes, you have, but trust me, she has done worse especially this last go-round. Maybe she just went on a vacation to give you time to clear your head."

Jason sighed. "I want them back at any cost."

Sonny nodded. "I'll get someone on it right away."

"Thank you."

He left, so Sonny picked up the phone.

"What's up, boss?" Paulie said.

"Elizabeth Webber has disappeared with the kids. I need her found."

"And what am I doing when I find her?"

He swallowed hard. There is no going back now. "Make it look like the accident, but make sure the kids are safe—just her. Jason isn't thinking clearly, so I need to do what is best for him."

Paulie wanted to gag. "I'll get on it."

He ended the call and then phoned Max who is livid. He let his dad know, grateful that he had acted when he did, or Jason would have never forgiven him.
