I've been debating how to write this message out, especially because I know that the response to this is likely to be negative. However, in the end, what needs to be said needs to be said. So, it is with great sadness that I am officially cancelling Fate/Trigger Happy Havoc effective today. This means this whole project will now no longer exist, it is finished. I'm more than aware that this news sucks, especially for those who enjoyed this version and the previous version. However, to explain, I will go into two things.
First, I will explain why I'm cancelling this project and second, I will explain what was meant to happen as a sort of "closure" for those who were still interested in this project.
Now then, the main question of why I decided to cancel this project. There's actually multiple reasons as to why I canceled this project, but I'll touch on all of them in no particular order. Some of them tie in together, but some of them don't.
Danganronpa was something that was a huge part of my writing style and definitely an inspiration to me when I hit college. The keyword being "was." As I got older, I started to notice some issues with Danganronpa that I didn't notice before back in high school.
For all intents and purposes, the series was edgy Kingdom Hearts. All you need to do is replace "light, darkness, and hearts" with "hope, despair, and talent." You had anime kids interact with mascot characters and, unlike Kingdom Hearts, which revels in its silliness even though it genuinely wants to be taken seriously, the series tended to get needlessly edgy at times. The only reason people actually felt despair in the fandom is because their favorite characters died.
All of these are actually easy to ignore. It's surprisng how much I would be willing to ignore these problems. However, I still cannot say that I like Danganronpa anymore and am willing to be within the fandom. I wish I could say "I'm in the DR fandom still," but I'm not. Due to certain events pertaining to an ex-friend of mine, my view of Danganronpa has been tainted. I cannot say with absolute certainty that I want to play these games or participate within the fandom of the series. I don't want to participate within the fandom, help spring it up. I can't do it.
And that's another reason why I cannot bring myself to continue writing Fate/Trigger Happy Havoc, if I wanted to get as much information as I can and do so much research on these two series? I'd have to play Danganronpa or watch the first anime. I cannot do that, I cannot touch this series with a ten-foot pole without being reminded of how an ex-friend hurt me. I don't want to put myself in this situation. With Fate/stay night, I genuinely still love it, I still enjoy it, and I do want to play the visual novels and understand more of the series. I even bought the Fate/Extella games on my Nintendo Switch and enjoyed the living heck out of it. However, Danganronpa is a different story. When I play it? I am reminded of how much someone hurt me and I need to put it down.
I bought nearly the whole series on Steam. Maybe I'll be able to play it again one day, but for now, I cannot play the series without being reminded of what happened. This is detrimental to my writing process, if I cannot understand these characters well? Why am I writing them? I shouldn't be.
I do have another reason, but I'll explain more after I say what I had planned for this project. And luckily, I have the original outline for this. So I'll explain a bit, sprucing it up because when I write outlines, they tend to be a bit crappy and barebones.
The first main arc of the story, after Shirou Emilya/Makoto Naegi meets Class 78, is the 5th Holy Grail War. My plan was that Shirou, Kirigiri, as an accidental participant like Shirou and she had wanted to investigate the Holy Grail War, and Togami, because he was a Togami, would have participated within this War. Shirou being the Master of Saber, Kirigiri being the Master of Assassin, which I wasn't entirely sure who she would summon, but I was likely going to go for "False Assassin"/"Beautiful Assassin" from Fate/strange fake, and Togami would end up being the Master of Caster, having met her and ending up becoming her Master.
From there, I was likely going to do some deviations of the original plot, but overall, this route would have elements of all three routes, such as Ilya and Shirou becoming friends, Shirou losing Saber to Caster, a battle within Unlimited Blade Works against Archer, who would hint at a majority of the future arcs, Sakura possibly become a Grail vessel, and Shirou vs. Gilgamesh. However, the main difference is that Kirigiri is Shirou's main love interest. I'll be blunt, I'm a sucker for canon. However, like all things, there is a time for crack ships so bring out the dumbest ship in the world... Komaru/Sakura. Hey, I like yuri, sue me. I was planning to have the three survive the Grail War, but Togami has definitely become a bit more chill now that he lost.
As for Archer, my idea was rather simple with him. Archer would turn out to be a future version of Shirou Emiya/Makoto Naegi. He'd be more akin to canon Archer, but have memories of what he had done. He, as a character, would work as a foreshadowing to future plot points. He'd note the friendships he made had all been thrown away due to one girl's fetish for despire. A girl he regretted not saving from herself.
I also had an idea that Gilgamesh might have survived, but I'm still on the fence about that.
Afterwards, the events of Danganronpa Zero would happen. This time, it would be from Shirou's own perspective. This arc wouldn't take that long, especially since Danganronpa Zero can be easily read by those who do a quick Google search. However, the main ideas behind it would be that Ryoko Otonashi, Junko's alternate persona, would distinctly know who Shirou Emiya was. However, she'd call him by another name. "Makoto Naegi." This would be the main turning point, the main change within the series. I'll go into more detail why I decided to do this, but know that as much as I like this idea? I genuinely cannot go through it.
This would tie into the finale of the arc where the The Worst, Most Despair-inducing Incident in the History of Mankind, which I want to note is the dumbest and edgiest name I've ever since and I'm glad that the localization changed the name to "The Tragedy." Here we see the biggest deviation in this series. When the question of whether or Shirou will stay and be safe in Hope's Peak, he refuses. He is a Hero of Justice. It's his job to help everyone who needs it. Needless to say, Kirigiri follows her boyfriend. This would make Junko genuinely interested in Shirou Emiya now. After all, this isn't what she predicted. That's why she tags along with them with the extra intention of kidnapping them later. She also has the idea of using an A.I. just in case something happens to her.
Afterwards, Junko, Shirou, and Kirigiri go through something akin to Fate/Hollow Atraxia for the third arc. There Shirou would start to remember his past with Ryoko Otonashi, who Junko transforms into during night due to Angra Mainyu (or something to that effect. I don't remember everything I had planned). As it turns out, Makoto Naegi was childhood friends with Ryoko when they were younger. This in turn makes the personality behind Ryoko that much more stronger. This would essentially make the character of Junko Enoshima nearly dead. However, Ultimate Despair, the group, still has plans for them. This time with 16 students because Ryoko essentially resisted turning into Junko, but her memories are wiped.
For the Fourth Arc, the Killing Game begins. There are a few more changes within the canon. We have 16 students participating, Ryoko is forgetful, but still cares about Naegi/Shirou. Shirou starts to remember certain things about his past and goals. Things do change and it's likely Mukuro is almost killed, but is saved by Shirou. I was still on the fence about killing off the characters in the Killing Game, but it was somewhat likely at least? Still, Shirou saves the survivors via SHSL Hope and I had thought of Mukuro sacrificing herself so that way Ryoko could live. She has an extra chance at life after all. (I was unsure if I should kill off the characters in Class 78's Killing Game unfortuantely.)
That is when Future Foundation appears with the intention of rescuing the survivors and killing Ryoko Otonashi/Junko Enoshima. Here we see another change in the canon because Munakata is participating in the battle with the intention of killing Ryoko, maybe Mukuro too if lives. However, Shirou is able to take down Munkata and spares his life. The survivors would then go on the run when they meet with Rin and Saber. They plan to capture Ultimate Despair before FF exterminates them.
That's when the next arc happens, Another Episode mixed in with some scenes where Shirou and his team are fighting against SHSL Despair. Meanwhile, with Ilya, she is now an Alter Ego and has a robot body. The real body of Illya has passed on at that point, but is grateful that at least she's still going to be alive despite being a robot. However, the people close to Class 78 have been captured including Sakura and Komaru. They were taken to Towa City and essentially trapped there for awhile now. Thankfully, Sakura and Komaru are sharing a room. However, Fujimara-sensei ends up tagging along with Shirou's group, having evaded capture and, as it turns out, she actually stands a chance against Peko Pekoyama.
The events of Another Episode happens, this time with Sakura and Ilya tagging along. However, Saber does come over because hey, the girl can literally walk on water. She helps capture Komaeda, even though his attempt on making Monaca Towa to become the next Junko Enoshima, which I genuinely think was a huge missed oppurtunity in canon, was successful (Though, I do want to note my idea of Monaca being bored with despair and only participating with it because it seemed to be cool might have still been a thing? I wasn't sure). Komaeda is captured and there is an agreement that there is one last person to get.
The final battle of the arc is when Shirou meets with Izuru Kamakura. Kamakura is curious about the SHSL Hope. However, Shirou denies the idea that he's hope. He's a Hero of Justice. As they fight, Shirou defeats Kamakura, even though Kamakura had the upper hand originally. He couldn't stand against Unlimited Blade Works.
The next arc begins as the party starts to process to investigate to Jabberwock Island as a possible way to win. Togami decides to work as a double-agent for Shirou's Group within the Future Foundation. He secures the items help the group start up the Neo World Program. That's where a few revelations occur such as the reveal that Chiaki Nanami is the 13th Division Leader (which she should have been) and Chisa is Despair. This, in turn, makes Ryoko feels guilty for causing her to despair. This makes her wishing to become a participant within the Neo World Program to fully expunge the personality of Junko for good, despite the memories that she had with Shirou. Her reasoning is that it would help her make new ones. I wasn't sure how long the arc would be, but it would be similar to Super Danganronpa 2. It was likely that it would be brief. However, the main issue was that Ryoko was slowly becoming Junko as the arc progresses. However, she beats Junko, refuting the fake Shirou's points. Shirou's group hacks in to help inspire the survivors of the School Killing Trip and Junko has symbolically been defeated by her better personality.
However, as Shirou's group leaves Jabberwock Island, he, along with Ryoko, Asahina, and Kirigi, get captured. However, Togami has become well-off in the organization to argue for at least a trial. The trial was likely going to be a show, but lo-and-behold, Danganronpa 3: Future Arc occurs. Not a lot of changes here, but my idea is that Shirou would be a lot more proactive here. He'd still argue for hope and reasoning, but still be willing to fight. However, here we see a major change in Shirou's Forbidden Action. He is unable to say what is the purpose of the knife or who used it. Ryoko, meanwhile, cannot speak at all. Eventually, the end of the game happens, Mitarai still planning to brainwash the world into hope. I did have an idea that if I decided to go for Gilgamesh surviving, he'd be one of the major sponsors for Future Foundation and planning to make the whole world worship him. The brainwashing would be avoided, but the likelihood of Shirou and Hajime fighting against Gilgamesh was likely. It was also likely that Munkata would die.
The epilogue would end with Shirou knowing that things will collapse if it is revealed that Future Foundation was taken down. Hajime, and the rest of Class 77, is willing to go with the idea that they were behind the game, but Shirou disagrees. He has to save everyone he could see and that's by sacrificing his former self.
They plan to reveal the existence of one Makoto Naegi, the true culprit behind everything. They make a plan, claiming that "Naegi was proclaimed dead in the Fuyuki Fire, but survived. Obsessed with despair, he brought his friend, Ryoko Otonashi, into it and began plotting the Tragedy with her unwillingly." They go with a fake trial for "Makoto Naegi" and it all ends with that body dying the same way Archer did. As revealed in a side story, this is what Archer had done in his timeline. However, because a chance meeting with Ryoko Otonashi in this timeline, that fate was avoided.
By the time of the epilogue, we see the following such as Sakura and Komaru are getting married, Togami is running his company with the help of a few of the survivors of Hope's Peak, Class 77 is reunited with Chiaki and they end up all living in Jabberwock Island, Rin is learning at Clock Tower while Saber continues to assist where she can in England, etc.. That's where we end with the scene with Ryoko and Kirigi talking to each other about where Shirou is now.
They discuss that Shirou is still being a Hero of Justice and is committed to helping rebuild society. As it turns out, he had learned about another group of children having been captured by a few of the Remnants of Despair with the intent to broadcast this Killing Game as fiction. They talk about how dumb the plan is and hope that Shirou saves them.
We end with Shirou Emiya, now looking a lot like Archer with white hair, but still having an ahoge going in to rescue the cast of Danganronpa V3 from their Killing Game.
Writing all of this, it does make me think that this idea has potential. However, it cannot be written by someone who isn't a fan of Danganronpa. That just isn't right. I, Agimat-AltoSax713, cannot write Fate/Trigger Happy Havoc. Who I am now wouldn't be the right kind of person to write Fate/Trigger Happy Havoc, but that doesn't mean that anyone else can write Fate/Trigger Happy Havoc in their own way. In fact, I encourage people who were inspired by what I had written to go and write your own take on crossing over Danganronpa and Fate/Trigger Happy Havoc. I do think there is some sort of potential here, but I cannot bring that potential to fruition. If I continue writing this, I'll hate what I produced or I'd feel burn-out from working on this. Nobody wants that.
However, I have no intention to stop writing. I still have original fiction lined up. I genuinely want to write a novel series, and I just wrote the first novel in the series. I still have My Former Life is Now As A Thief which is more in line with me because I love the silliness that is Katarina Claes and her density and, hell Persona 5 Royal was a great game and really helped me out when this pandemic had hit.
With all of this in mind, I want to say to everyone reading this and looking at what was created is this. If you are inspired of this, write. If you want to take your own ideas and bring them into fruition, then you should create something. I wrote Fate/Trigger Happy Havoc because I had seen a lack of Fate/stay night related content that mixed with Danganronpa and I realized that there was potential. In fact, there was a lot of potential. A lot of people had noticed this rare crossover and decided to read it. Even now, I see that there is a significant lack of crossover of the two. And when I say that, I mean good crossover between these two series. I'm just not the right hands for it, but I'd be willing to help guide those who want to do it.
I'd like to thank everyone for following this silly little idea that I had back in my mind and reading not just one, but both of the versions of this project. If anyone has any questions, I am willing to answer them via PMs and if I get enough, I'd probably update this fanfiction with a small Q&A segment.
I also encourage everyone who read this work to also read My Former Life is Now As A Thief when I make an update for it on both , AO3, and, once I get my crap together for that site, Spacebattles. I'm probably gonna be working on the next chapter for the next couple of weeks in-between working on my novel. Along with that, I hope that people who read this would also help support my future ideas because I have of them. I'm still looking forward to working on this and I want everyone to take care.
Also as a bonus? I want to treat everyone with a few drabbles that I wrote during the four years I was working on this project. Just to note, they aren't that great, but I think they're cute enough to warrant a few added segments. Though, everyone can skip it.
A Lost Future (or When You Decide You Adore Bojack Horseman A Lot To Give It A Shoutout Here)
The sky was blue, as clean as it got in a city like Fuyuki. A young girl was sleeping on the desk, her red hair frayed over her face. She felt a nudge on her shoulder.
"Ryoko?" the voice said.
"Huh?" the girl woke up to see a young boy, shorter than most, look at her with a confused look on his face, "Oh, morning Makoto. Did school end already?"
"Yeah. You know, you should pay attention Ryoko," he scratched the back of his neck.
"You're kidding right?" She looked at him with a look of annoyance, "Makoto. Do you want to know what I know? Tomorrow, the teacher is going to give us a pop quiz. It's kinda obvious that she was planning that the moment she got here." She started to stretch her arms.
"Wait, what!?" Makoto exclaimed, "Well, I guess I have to study tonight."
"Or I can give you the answers. Most of the time I'm right?" Ryoko looked at him with a risen eyebrow.
"I mean, I don't want to rely on you all the time Ryoko!" Makoto exclaimed, "You might be my best friend, but-"
Ryoko smiled, "You're always so unpredictable 'koto." She grabbed a bag and started to walk away, "I'm going home. Wanna come with?"
"Yeah, sure!"

"Hey Makoto?" Ryoko looked into the living room. Makoto was talking to his sister before looking up at Ryoko.
"Oh, I think my wife needs me. I'll talk to you later Komaru."
"Treat her well Makoto!" her voice said.
Makoto walked over to Ryoko, "Yes Ryoko?"
"I made some food. I know you like any food, so I just made some ramen for you," Ryoko smiled at Makoto before Makoto walked over to her. He grasped her hand, rings on one of their fingers. Makoto placed a loving kiss on her and smiled.
"Thank you Ryoko-san," Makoto looked over to Ryoko, "Hey, is it me or… Is there something up?"
"Like your ahoge?" Ryoko played with Makoto's ahoge.
Makoto started to blush, "H-h-hey Ryoko. Stop it…" He smiled at Ryoko.
"It's cute though. Anyways, I uh...have some news to share with you. I just came back from the doctor. He said something pretty crazy," Ryoko blushed.
"Huh? What is it? Come on, tell me," Makoto smiled at his wife.
"I'm pregnant! Surprise~" Ryoko responded back.
There was a pause before Makoto had a wide smile, "Oh my goodness! I'm going to be a father!" Makoto kissed Ryoko and hugged her, "That's… That's a bit of a shock…"
"...Yeah… Even I didn't predict this…" Ryoko said.

Both Makoto Naegi and Ryoko Otonashi sat on the porch, their daughter was getting ready to go into Hope's Peak Academy of all places. The Ultimate Fashionista they coined her. The two cuddled up next to each other.
Ryoko smiled, "She grows up so fast…" She muttered to herself.
"Yeah… Though, I have to be honest, I hope she's going to be okay. There's going to be a lot of people after her," Makoto told his wife.
"'Koto, she'll be fine. She's strong-willed, you know?" Ryoko smiled, "I'm...really happy right now…"
"...Me too Ryoko," Makoto put his hands on Ryoko's hand.
"Are you...thinking about something Makoto?" Ryoko asked.
"Yeah… I'm thinking about… How nice things could have been if you had chosen this life," Makoto said. Ryoko's eyes widened as suddenly, the girl woke up from her sleep.
"All passengers please exit the vehicle," the girl rubbed her eyes. Odd, most of her dreams mostly revolved around her killing people or something to do with despair. Yeah, she felt despair from her dream. But it didn't make her excited. It made her...nostalgic.
"...Makoto Naegi is dead," she muttered to herself, "the only boy I could really love is dead."
Junko Enoshima, the Ultimate Despair, started to walk out of the airplane.
Shirou Fucked The Headmaster's Daughter (or When You Watch The Same 22 Jump Street Clip Too Many Times)
Shirou Emiya gulped as Kizakura brought him to the Headmaster's office. He knew exactly what happened, Kizakura knew what happened and had patted him on the back for becoming a man. However, that didn't mean Junko knew. She was curious, especially Shirou was different. She never really understood why she couldn't analyze him. Even now, he confused her, especially because?
"Shirou, are you wearing kevlar?"
Shirou Emiya coughed.
"Okay then," Junko was confused. Shirou confused her.
Shirou and Junko went into the room. Kizakura gave Shirou a pat on the back and a smile.
"Of all the girls…" he muttered under his breath.
Junko stared at Shirou, still confused.
"Shirou, Junko…" the headmaster greeted them. He had a gun. That's new. She didn't see that.
"Now we're not gonna sit here and pretend there's a big-ass elephant in the room."
Junko blinked, "What the fuck is going on?"
"This is what the fuck is going on." Headmaster Jin Kirigiri showed a picture. A picture of Kyouko Kirigiri.
Junko immediately connected the dots. She began laughing, "Oh shit! Oh shit!" she patted Shirou's back, laughing all the while.
"Upupupupu! No! This is not happening!"
"Shirou is fucking the Headmaster's daughter!" Junko yelled to the sky. She opened the door from the office and yelled to her schoolmates.
"Shirou is fucking the Headmaster's daughter!"
The Headmaster glared at Shirou, "Every time she says that, it's another foot up your ass."
"Yo, this is the best thing ever!" Junko laughed.
"Shirou fucked the Headmaster's daughter! Shirou fucked the Headmaster's daughter! Shirou fucked the Headmaster's daughter~" She started to sing and laugh. She realized something. Shirou sexed someone up. Oh, the look on the flat-chested deviant's face now.
After awhile, Junko put a hand on Shirou's shoulder, "Holy shit. Do you realize what this means!? You fucked Headmaster Kirigiri's daughter! The herbivore boy we all thought you were is a man! A real man! Toko was right on the money! Ultimate Luckster for a reason, right!? This is just great! This is the Headmaster," she gestured to the tranquil yet angry Jin Kirigiri, "And you had sex with his daughter!"
"Oh my god, this is-" the gun was now aimed at Junko. She sat down, "Not really that funny."
Shirou gulped, "To be fair, we were in an...interesting situation and she came onto me?"
The Headmaster looked at Shirou, "To be fair, I haven't cut your damn nuts off Shirou Emiya."
Junko grinned, Shirou was seeping off despair by the tenfold before looking at Jin Kirigiri, "What if...you get to punch Shirou Emiya in the face one time...really, really hard."
"Nah, I have a better idea," the Headmaster said.
Assembly was called and at the very least, Class 78 was all called. Junko spread the news to everyone. Everyone was shocked.
"Sex is not welcome in a school environment!" Ishimaru yelled to Kirigiri, who was blushing a lot. Shirou was missing however.
The reason would be explained very soon however. Both the Headmaster and Shirou came out and the Headmaster was holding something. It was a stun gun and it was aimed at Shirou's crotch. He shot it.
Shirou screamed and realized one thing that day: never mess with a Papa Wolf. Especially when he's the Headmaster.
