A/N – Thanks for the comments! Trini12180 – Jason has been looking for Liz for 3 years and can't find her. What do you want him to do when she doesn't want to be found? ghfan51184 – The only time Carly pushed Sam on Jason was after he returned from the dead which made sense since she and Sam had become friends and Jason and Sam were married. We don't get a Liason week because they aren't currently together on the show, and they never were a full-out couple. It's hard implying that Jake is organically like Jason because that would mean he would be like Jason Q. Jake is like J.M. because of Helena. So, in a way, it's not a good thing. Yes, it sucks that they don't show enough of Jason & Jake on the show. Hear you re: Sam, but in ways, I'd give anything for Liz to fight for Jason like Sam does.

Guest that is stopping reading the story just because Sam got pregnant, Seriously? It's what happened on the show. It's not Jason, so what is the problem? I told you from the beginning I was mimicking the show on the Jason/Jakeson stuff, so why did you even bother then? Ridiculous, but whatever. If you don't want to read—your loss.

Chapter 10

Carly lunged for Sam, but Jason was out of his seat in a flash and grabbed her.

"Carly, she's pregnant."

"Can't I just smash her in that big, nasty mouth of hers? It won't hurt the baby." She shook Jason off. "I just love it when skanks like you get all hypocritical and high and mighty. Wasn't it you that fucked your step-father when your mother was fighting cancer? You used your body to seduce men and marry them and then took all their money. You're nothing but a slut for hire." She had a thorough background check done on Sam and it was enlightening.

Jason pinched the bridge of his nose.

"You try very hard to act like you're not a slut, but you've done the same thing—lay on your back with men who have money so you can bleed them dry. God only knows how none of them have shot you—wait, they have."

"At least I haven't murdered anyone or paid someone to terrorize kids. Face it, Sam, you take the words whore and money-grubbing bitch to another level. You might as well hang a sign that says open for business twenty-four-seven on your vagina."

Sam tried to rush her, but Coleman picked her up and carried her outside.

"You need to calm down."

"I hate that bitch."

He smirked. "I can tell, but if you think you just scored points with Jason, you'd be wrong. He certainly doesn't like public displays of anything."

She rolled her eyes. "Jason can kiss my ass."

He grinned as she sauntered to her car and got in.

Inside, Jason is livid. "Wipe that smug smile off your face. What the hell is wrong with you?"

"Why are you mad at me? She's the one that took advantage of you."

He gripped the top of the chair. "She is the mother of my children and yet you don't see a problem with tearing her down in public. Did it ever occur to you that I would be against that? You did the same thing with Elizabeth."

Carly sighed. "I hate watching people hurt you. Contrary to her belief, you are not a punching bag or someone to take advantage of. She used you for sex and got knocked up and then threw it in your face like it's your fault when she knew what she was doing. If you want to waste your time on that piece of trash, it's on you, but you have to see how bad it looks that you let someone like her in. She hated Jake, Jason. What does that say when you are so jealous and mean that you hate a child and want him to stay missing? Maybe you should think about that. I think part of you liked that someone wanted you so badly and you were lonely. I get it, but at the same time, I don't understand why you don't think you deserve better."

She left him sitting there deep in thought. Sam will be in his life because of their children and there is nothing he can do about it. Even though he knows that this is probably the final nail in the coffin for his relationship with Elizabeth, although she did have a kid with Lucky. He is still searching for her, but until he can locate her, he's going to try and be the best father he can be.

Epiphany grabs the throwaway phone that Johnny had provided and dials.

"Hello?"

Piph smiled. "Hey."

Liz grinned. "Hi! What's going on?"

"I just felt like you needed to know something I overheard."

"Why do I have a feeling it's bad news?"

"It is. Jason has struggled. He disappeared for a year to try to get his head on straight and Sam and Carly have been stalking him as usual."

"Some things just don't change."

"You got that right. Anyway, apparently Jason was trashed about three months ago and Sam had her way with him. Since he hasn't been giving her the time of day, I'm sure he was mortified."

Elizabeth's stomach clenched. "You said three months."

"I never could get anything by you. She's pregnant and claiming he's the father and pretty much slugged him with her words at Jake's. She was pissed because she knows he doesn't want her. Deep down, I think she played it that way because she thinks she can get her hooks in him and not look too eager. Carly was there and called Sam every name in the book and vice versa. All of their dirty laundry was aired. In fact, Carly told Sam she is addicted to Jason's dick and Sam pushed her and sent her to the floor."

"Holy shit…"

"Girl, if I had some popcorn, it would have been perfect."

"Let me guess, Jason just sat there and let them talk shit?"

"He did, but he had words with Carly afterward and she wasn't happy about it and schooled him about a few things and told him she thinks he went back to Sam back in the day because he liked that someone wanted him so badly and he was lonely and then asked him why he thinks that he doesn't deserve better."

"Damn… I wish I could have overheard that one."

"It was brutal and there was a rapt audience. Jason looked pretty torn up afterward."

"He needs to get over me and move on."

"I don't think that will happen without some closure. He's not going to stop looking for you."

Liz sighed. "Well, I can't control his actions. I'm not risking my kid's safety to reach out to him." It's an excuse because she doesn't want to face him, but it is what it is.

"It's your choice."

"And you'd make a different one?"

"I might try to find a way to talk to him so that it's done for good, but you're not there yet and that's okay. Do, you."

"Thanks, Epiphany."

"Now, give me an update on my boys."

Liz smiled and then gave her the rundown.

IiIiIiIiIiIiIiIiIiIi

Jake stared at the picture of his father unaware that his mom is watching; wondering if things would have been different if he had been in their lives. Would he have gotten shot and fell into the Hudson River? Maybe he would have made different choices. If his parents had chosen each other, would their mom be happier? It's not easy for him to see his mom shut out the world. While he's happy she opened the shop, it's just another form of escape for her. For the most part, he does the same because school is just something he has to do to get to what he wants. He'll apply himself because he wants to make sure his grades are good so his mom can't fight him on his decision to join the Giambetti organization. He's more determined than ever to make that work.

"Jake."

The sound of his mother's voice made him jerk to his feet and spin around. Their gaze is locked for a moment until Elizabeth finally approached him.

"My homework is finished.

"I wasn't even going to ask." He had proven already proven himself in that area.

"You okay?"

She nodded. "I'm fine."

"You looked upset on the phone."

"Oh, it was Epiphany."

"Did something happen?"

"It's nothing to be concerned about."

Jake rolled his eyes. "I'm not a kid anymore."

Her eyes softened. "I'm aware of that. I just—sometimes I just want to protect you from everything."

"What did he do?"

"Jake…" He refuses to acknowledge Jason as his father until he gets more proof.

"Please…"

Her hands rubbed against the side of her jeans as she took a deep breath. "He got drunk and Sam had sex with him."

Jake rolled his eyes. "Can't he get a restraining order?"

Liz almost giggled. "No, because of Danny, but that's not the worst of it."

"She's not pregnant, is she?"

Liz nodded as Jake turned away from her and planted his hands on his hips. "He's hurting."

"Because he can't have you?"

"He can't have any of us."

"This isn't your fault."

"No, it isn't. This is all on them, but maybe I should have reached out to him. He loves you." She has her own sordid history with Lucky, so she doesn't want to be over-critical of Jason.

He started to pace. "She wanted this—him. I just—"

"There's nothing we can do." He ran his hand through his hair. "I have to go."

"Jake! Please…"

"I'm fine, mom."

She wanted to run after him, but a few seconds later, she heard the door to his room slam and she sighed.

Francis moved into the room. "You okay?"

She growled under her breath. "No. I hate that he knows any of this."

"He wants to know."

"Look, I know he's older, but I just want to spare him. I know Jason is his father and Jake wants to be like him."

"Correction, Jake wants to be like old Jason. This new one…"

"You really don't think it's him?"

"No, I don't. There's a lot that just doesn't add up, surgery, or no surgery."

"So, you think it's wishful thinking on my part?"

"Yes, because if it's not him then you did all of that for nothing."

Elizabeth sighed. "I would have fought for Jake too, but I agree. I went to another level of crazy because it was Jason."

Francis smirked. "Elizabeth, you're going to have to walk a fine line with Jake. He's bull-headed and his mind is fixed on being like his father."

"I know. I just don't know what to do. That life is not what I want for him, but he is driving straight towards it without brakes, turn signals, or headlights."

"We're doing our best to guide him."

"I know, but I think he just takes it as encouragement."

"And if we don't guide and train him, he'll be in more danger."

A frustrated growl left her lips. "Suppose the other Jake is Jason and separating them is doing more harm?"

"You know I can't answer that, but my gut says it's not him."

She laughed. "I don't trust anything about my gut anymore. I need to buy a new sensor. Mine is fried."

He cracked up. "I'll see if I can get one in a catalog."

"Thanks."

"Go take a walk and chill. I'll stick around here. Johnny is wandering around out there somewhere, so don't take him down if he startles you."

She grinned as she moved towards the door. "Are you trying to take away all of my fun?"

"Have at it then…"

"Later…"

IiIiIiIiIiIiIiIiIiIi

Jason knocked on Sam's door and it swung open a few minutes later.

"He'll be back in ten minutes. You can wait inside."

He moved past her. "I came earlier so we could talk."

She folded her arms across her chest. "Fine…"

"I've done a lot of thinking. I need to do better, so I want to work out some visitation and child support. For now, I'm living in the mansion."

Her brow rose.

"I want to find a decent place and Monica said they have plenty of room."

"I see."

"As for the baby, once it's born, we'll work figure out a schedule. If you want, you can have your mom prepare a legal agreement."

She blew out a harsh breath. It wasn't what she wanted to hear, but hopefully, spending time around her and the kids will warm him up. "That's not necessary. I'm sure we can come to an agreement."

"Good."

The door swung up. "Hey, Dad," Danny said with a smile.

"Hey."

"Can we go to Kelly's. I'm starving."

Jason smiled. "Sure, come on."

They left and Sam sat on the couch. Somehow, she needs to get her husband back. He has always been a sucker for babies, so it may be her last chance. She has an appointment in a few weeks, so she'll use it to her advantage.

IiIiIiIiIiIiIiIiIiIi

Johnny waited until Liz put her brush down. "So, are you going to tell me how you really feel about Sam and Jason?"

Liz rolled her eyes. "Do I have to?"

"No, but it's not healthy to hold it in."

She turned to face him. "It sucks." A slight pout appears on her face and he can't help but smile.

"I was kind of expecting more."

"Yeah, well, I'm not sure Sam is worth the energy. She always gets what she wants, so I'm sure he'll cave, just like I did Lucky."

"At least this time she had to wait for it. That had to be humiliating considering she isn't the first choice."

"You have a strange way of cheering me up, but I'm warming up to it. What's next? Do we go to the range and put her picture up?"

He chuckled. "That could be arranged."

"I could fall back on how much I want him to be happy."

"Then you'd be lying to yourself."

"True because I think he deserves better. Hell, he deserved better than what I gave him too."

"Yeah, but faux Liz doesn't count."

She smiled. "Is that like blaming it on my evil twin?"

"Sort of, I do worry about you."

"I'm fine, Johnny. Sure, I was shocked but I'm not sure why because I was expecting him to eventually go back to her. Jason gets lonely and let's face it, not a lot of women are jumping to be with a man who is surrounded by violence."

"Why did you?"

"Ah, that's a fractured story, but the long and short of it is that Jason saw all of me and accepted it. In fact, he always encouraged me and listened. Lucky never really heard me."

"I get it."

"The fact that he is hot and had a motorcycle completed the package, but it was what is underneath that scowl and bravado that won my heart. He treated me so reverently and made me feel like I was good enough to love. He'll always have a place in my heart."

Johnny just hopes that someday, she'll let herself move on. She deserves happiness.

6 Months Later

Jason rushes to the hospital. Things have been going well with Sam and they have fallen into a rhythm with Danny. They are having a girl and he's so nervous. It has been quite a while since he's been around a baby. He has been trying to get his life together and figure out what he wants to do with it. In the meantime, he's been running a club and getting reacquainted with people. While there are some memories that escape him, for the most part, he remembers most of his life after the car accident that changed him forever. Elizabeth is still eluding him and he wonders if he should just give up and move on.

"She's in there," Piph said pointing to the room.

"Thanks."

He moves inside and their gazes lock. "Hi."

She lets out a loud groan as a contraction rips through her body and he is right by her side.

A tear rolls down her face.

Jason glares at the nurse. "Can't you get her something for the pain?"

"It's too late. Kelly is on her way."

"What can I do?" he asks Sam.

"Just don't leave me."

"I won't."

An hour later, she gave birth to a little girl. Jason is emotional as he cut the cord and they bonded with her until the nurse took her to get checked out.

"What do you want to name her?" he asked.

"I was thinking maybe Emily."

Jason closed his eyes. He had hoped that one day he and Elizabeth would have a girl and name her that. Besides, Emily wouldn't have probably been a fan of Sam. He just couldn't do it. "I—maybe we can pick something else."

"Oh…" She's surprised and thought that would get her some brownie points.

"It's okay."

"What about Alana?"

"It's pretty."

"It means beauty or serenity."

He ran the first and last name through his mind. "That's fine."

"Do you want a middle name?"

He shrugged. "I—I don't know."

"How about Jamie?"

"Okay."

The nurse returned and handed the baby to Jason.

"She's so tiny."

He gently rocked her as a tear rolled down Sam's face.

"If you need anything, press the call button," the nurse said before leaving.

Jason handed the baby to Sam. "You look tired."

"I can barely keep my eyes open. I can't believe we have a little girl."

After a few minutes, she handed the baby back.

"You rest and I'll sit with her."

"Thanks."

He stared at his daughter. No matter what happens between him and Sam, he'll always be there for Alana, no matter what.
