Hello, I'm back again. I'll write a one-shot for you. This is a special story dedicated about one of my favorite animes. Also, I feel like writing about a special story because Christmas will come soon. I hope you enjoy this one. Again, this is a one-shot and have fun reading :)

~The Puzzles Of The Past~
Summary: In a puzzle, you need to collect the pieces to complete each picture of the scenario, But, in the middle of Kaitou Kid's heist, the plan goes wrong because of the arrival of his worst enemy, What if everyone finds out the truth? What will happen between Kid And Snake?. Find out..
Story Begins:
In the city of Ekoda, another heist was coming up. The notice was already instructed by a thief. Not just an ordinary thief, but a phantom thief. His name was.. Kaito Kid, The thief who can make impossible things possible for him.
"Guard each corners of the room. That idiot must not take the most expensive and precious gem named Pandora! Never take off your sight!" Inspector Nakamori instructed his men.
"Yes, Inspector!" The army saluted at him.
"This will mark the end of your era, Kaitou Kid. I, the inspector will put you behind thr bars of Ekoda City Prison! This will be your final heist!"
Inside the building..
"Where is that gem? Where is it?" The chief of policemen, also known as Kaito inside. He was currently looking for Pandora, the gem who can grant immortality within its' tears.
"Where is that gem that killed my father?!" He mumbled as he kept looking for the gem.
"Who are you?!" The police suddenly appriached him. He was nervous now.
"Hello, officers." He greeted them. He was using the chief's voice so no one will notice.
"Chief?! We're sorry, We thought it was Kid. Please forgive us, We won't do this again." The officers bowed with apology. The Chief forgave them, But inside, Kaito grinned as he started to laugh a little inside his disguise.
"Instruct the other forces to go outside, while the second batch on the back halls. Kid can enter between those paths. Don't hestitate to catch him. He will just trick you like he always do whenever he's doing some heist business." Chief instructed.
"Yes Sir!" The officers saluted.
"Good, now my heist starts now. I'll just lure the officers in the back halls while I destroy the heavy security inside the gem room. Soon, Pandora will be destroyed and I can live happily without delay and destruction. The final show will now open the closed curtains."Kaito thought as the officers left the gem room.
Kaito, exchanged his disguise as Kaito Kid, The Phantom Thief destroyed the cameras, turned off the lasers, and the traps aside. The thing he didn't know that someone was watching him behind the shadows. The figure was smirking.
"Toichi Kuroba, no, this was not him, this was your only son. I didn't expect that you had a beloved child, if I had found out, I would kill this foolish brat for interfering my work, This time, Phantom Lady was long gone and all that was left is their beloved precious son. It's time to settle a score between you and me, You will reach your downfall, Kaitou kid!" The figure thought evilly as he prepared his gun.
Back with Kaito Kid..
"Time to get this gem and destroy it." Kid said as he reach out for the gem. Suddenly, the alarms had made a loud beeping noise, indicating that Kid had arrived to steal the gem. Kid was shocked at first, but, he remained his poker face on as Inspector Nakamori and the other forces enter the room.
"He tricked us!" The officers shrieked angrily as Inspector Nakamori's face became angry and frustrated as well.
"Darn you! Kid!" Inspector said angrily as he tried to catch him along with the police forces.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, this will be the final heist of mine. I will end this once and for all, I apologize, Inspector this gem won't be released as I will destroy this one and end the horrors of black organization." Kaito Kid announced.
"What?!" The inspector was confused and wondering at the same time. Why would Kid destroy this gem? Why was he so desperate to take this one out? Something must've happened to him in the past before he became a phantom thief, but why would anyone give terror to Kid? And what does he mean "and end the horrors of black organization?" More questions swirled inside Inspector's mind.
"Give the gem back! Kaito Kid!" The voice belonged to Aoko Nakamori, who made a grand entrance. Kid was utterly in shock. He didn't expect for Aoko to appear on his heists, And besides she was not interested on him. But, why now? What was she doing here?.
"Ah, Inspector's daughter, Aoko Nakamori. What are you doing here?" Kid asked the frustrated brunette.
"I came here to support my dad! Give the gem back! I hate you! I hate you for doing this to my dad! He can't get his happiness back! He doesn't have time to spend with me! I'm always alone and lonely because of you!" Aoko cried in anger and sadness.
Kid was shocked and speechless at the same time, but inside, his heart was broken after hearing Aoko's cursed words. It really hurts him. It was like his heart had died out. Sadness and guilt began to open his scars inside his heart.
"You don't know what have I've been through. Nakamori-san. I will destroy this gem to avenge my deceased father. Those idiots have killed him just for this gem. Justice is justice and I will force it done." Kid said as his face shadowed and a single tear fell in his right eye.
Aoko was shocked, just like Inspector Nakamori and the other people who were witnessing this heist. This heist was brodcasted live. The fans of Kaitou Kid were also shocked as well. This was thr first time Kid cried infront of public. What really happened? Why was he crying? He said that he wanted to avenge his deceased father. Does it mean he was not the first Kaito Kid? It was impossible to identify the dark past hidden behind their backs.
"Greetings, Kaitou Kid." The person said in the shadows. "I see you're still not over with his death. Give me that gem and I will spare your useless life." He said again.
Kid gritted his teeth in anger and disgust.
"Okay Snake! Come out! You coward!" He said angrily as the person named Snake cam out from the shadows. His attire was all black.
"Hello again, Kaito kid or should I say..." Snake was about to say his true name when Kid blasted his card gun to prevent Snake from telling his true identity infront of public.
"Don't you dare!" Kid said angrily.
"Down to my business, as I said, give me the gem or I will kill this useless inspector and his foolish daughter who was fooled by you." Snake smirked as Kid's face shadowed.
"You're gonna pay for killing my father, You made my mom's life miserable and mine too. Everything you've done, You made me turned into Kaito kid even though I don't want to! It's for justice of my family and it has to be done." Kid said in venom and hatred, making the other people who were watching his heist shiver in fear.
Inspector Nakamori was really shocked. Shocked to hear what happened to Kid's family. He was also furious on that Snake guy. He was the cause of the problem and case he was finishing now. If he didn't killed Kid's family, his life won't be miserable as it was now. He would be more happy with his family and they were together as one, just like him and Aoko. He was also having pity on the phantom thief. He can see how much he had been through eversince his father was killed.
Aoko was also shocked as his father. Kid had a reason why he had been turned into a thief who steals Gems. It was unexpected. Like his father, Aoko now feels what Kid had felt when his father was killed by this Snake guy. Sure, Kid had caused many problems to the police force, but that won't change the fact his life became miserable and lonely.
"If This was the second Kaito Kid, then who 's the first one? Goodness, It can't be.. His father.. his father was the first Kaito Kid, the only thing she doesn't know was the name of the First Kid.
In the backup police force, Hakuba Saguru was also in shock. For him, Kid was a headache for him. But, he didn't expect the dark past behind Kid's appearance, The reason why he steals the gems and returns it back when he realizes that this was not the gem he was looking for.
"Kaito Kid, give me that gem!" Snake smirked as he fired his gun above, making the whole crowd gasp in fear and panic.
"Why would I give this gem to idiots like you? My bussiness with you is not done, and I'll be eliminating you this time." Kid said coldly.
Snake became so pissed, he began firing the bullets towards Kid.
"Inspector Nakamori-kun, I'll distract this idiot, you and your daughter get away! Save the other civilians as well, it's dangerous." Kid warned hurriedly.
"Kid! This is dangerous!" Nakamori argued.
"I know Inspector-kun, but this bussiness is only between me and Snake. Don't intefere, I don't want you and your daughter to get involved here." Kid closed his eyes as he said the words.
"Kid, if you're planning to kill him, you're doing the same thing he was also doing. This isn't you. You'll be a worse killer than him." Nakamori said calmly. Kid understood his warning.
"Kaito Kid, this is the time we settle the score. I will take that gem back with my hands and I'll get my immortality." Snake said evilly.
"Oh no you won't, coward. You're just like your pathetic boss who always hide in the shadows while you do your useless, pathetic duty as the member of black organization." Kid said coldy.
"Why you! You're getting in my nerves!" Snake said angrily as he fired his gun. Kid managed fo avoid the bullet before it hits his chest.
"You can't run away from me, Kid! Don't be like your pathetic father! He always run away like a coward. You won't get away from this." Snake said angrily as Kid became so angry at him, he would've explode.
"This gem must be destroyed!" Kid said finally as he held the gem in the moonlight, he was about to destroy it when..
He didn't notice that Snake's gun had reloaded fast. The bullet went towards his chest. He was taking the risk, the risk of dying infront of his worst enemy. A piercing scream was heard in the central city of Ekoda, The people are so shocked while others shouted in fear. Blood dripped on his mouth as he placed his gem back inside his pocket. Kid was struggling to open his eyes, there was no much time left.
In the mansion, Akako Koizumi was watching the heist. She was struggling herself from tearing up because when she breaks down to tears, she will lose her red magic. But she can't help it. She loves Kid, he was a kind and caring person just like Kaito. She knows that Kid was Kaito, and like Nakamori-keibu, she will make Snake pay the price for making him suffer.
Back with Kid and Snake...
"This.. is.. bad.." Kid said in frustration.
"Kaito Kid, Give. me. that. gem! Or else, I will end your useless life." Snake said desperately.
"Tsk!" Kid cursed himsepf for being so reckless and stubborn. Now, he was in risk.
"Stop! Leave him alone!" Aoko said angrily. Kid was shocked to see her stand up.
"Aoko! It's dangerous! get away!" Kid said in worry and sadness.
"Aoko!!" Nakamori shouted in worry.
"Now I understand your feelings, Kid. I won't leave you alone, just like my childhood friend, he also lost his beloved father. I don't want you to die yet, I'm sorry for shouting and hating you like that. I was such an idiot who didn't understand others' feelings about their past life" Aoko almost teared up as she apologized.
Kid smiled at her statement.
"Well, well, well.. What a lovely reunion. But, your life ends here. I will first eliminate your precious loved one, Kaito Kid." Snake said as he fired the gun again, but this time, it was heading towards Aoko.
"AOKO!!" Nakamori, Hakuba, Akako, her best friend Keiko, and her other classmates shouted in fear as Aoko stared at the bullet in fear.
"No, It can't be.. No.." Aoko froze as the bullet continued to head towards her. A few minutes later, she wasn't feeling the pain. She wondered
She opened her eyes to see Kid, who took the hit instead of her.
"KID!!" Everyone gasped in fear. Especially Aoko and Nakamori.
In overseas, Chikage Kuroba was warching the heist. She was so shocked to see her son suffer. Tears fell in her eyes as she witness the heist.
"Kaito... What have I done?! What have I done?!, Kaito.. I'm sorry!" Chikage broke down to tears as she watched her son gasp for breath. He had no time left. He needs to destroy the gem as soon as possible.
"The gem will be mine.." Snake said as he took Pandora in Kid's right hand, blood was stained in the gem. Snake wipwd it off and he held it under the moonlight. The gem's usual blue color turned red as blood. The crowd gasp.
"Now, immortality will be mine." Snake laughed wickedly as Aoko stared in fear.
"I.. got.. you.. now.. Snake.." Kid grinned as he held the real gem on his right hand. The other gem was a fake one, he made a fake gem. He made the gem's blue color turned to red whenever some one holds the gem under the moonlight. Now Snake understood why Kid placed the gem back to his pocket. He exchanged the real gem to the fake gem he made.
Suddenly, the fake gem shattered into pieces when Snake smashed it in the ground.
"You! You're gonna pay!" Snake was about to make his final move when he realized that he was out of bullets. The police force backup appeared and Hakuba as well.
"Snake, you're sorrounded, put your gun down or you will be fired." Hakuba said while he was using his megaphone.
"Why would I give in to a police force? I won't let myself get sorrounded from the likes of you!" Snake gritted his teeth in anger.
"Then you're gonna recieve a heavy punishment from the court. A punishment for almost murdering Kaito Kid." Hakuba said in a cold and furious voice.
Snake took out his dagger and took Aoko from Kid. He held the dagger into Aoko's neck. She was feeling her fear rised up.
"I will kill Kid's loved one if you let me go with the pandora gem or I will kill her instantly." Snake said as he smirked in happiness.
"Hakuba-kun! Help me!" Aoko cried in fear.
"Aoko-san!" Hakuba shouted worriedly. He then turned and glared at Snake using his cold piercing eyes.
"Let. her. go! Leave my daughter alone!" The voice belonged to Nakamori, he striked Snake using his wooden police bat. Snake's face began to cripple. Blood fell on his forehead.
"Kid!" Aoko said as she took Kid hurriedly. Her father helped him carry away from Snake.
"I won't let you get away with that gem!" Snake said angrily, but suddenly,
A tranquilizer gun was fired off. Snake didn't expect this one. The tranquilizer gun belonged to Kid, who was still struggling to stay awake.
"That's for almost killing my childhood friend. This will be your punishment Snake, for almost killing my loved ones and killing my beloved father. You must be executed because you deserve it. You don't know how many years I had suffered from devistation and sadness. I will let karma get in to you. Farewell." Kid whispered as Snake collapsed and fell into a deep sleep.
"Kid had finally settled the score. He had finally defeated his worst enemy." The news reporter announced in happiness.
The police force ran towards the sleeping Snake and placed him in the police van before he wakes up. This guy sure was dangerous.
Back with Aoko and Inspector Nakamori..
"Kid, are you still there?! Answer me!" Aoko began to cry while Nakamori stared at him.
"Aoko, I'm sorry.." Kid said weakly. He removed his monocle and hat slowly to uncover his true identity. He had no choice now because this was his last breath. As he revealed himself, Aoko and Nakamori was shocked and they stared eyed-wide at the injured Kid.
"K..Kaito?!" Aoko cried.
"Kaito-kun?!" Nakamori also gasped in shock.
He thought it was someone else.
To think that, all of people, Kaito was Kid the whole time, no one even noticed it, except for Akako and Prince Phillip, the queen's son.
Keiko, Hakuba and their other classmates who was witnessing this one were shocked and speechless as well.
"I'm sorry, Aoko.. I'm really sorry for lying.. at you.." Kaito broke down to tears.
"Why?! Why did you lie to me?! Kaito! You.. You idiot!" Aoko cried loudly as she hiccuped, she was crying so hard. She doesn't like to see her friend like this.
The crowd was shocked as well, this revelation was making them gasp again.
"Forgive me.. Aoko..I must destroy the gem.." Kaito said as he finally tossed the gem on the moonlight and snapped his fingers. The gem was smashed into pieces as well as the black organization's desire to take the gem back from their hands.
"Kaito.. don't die.." Aoko sobbed.
"Aoko, stay strong.. Don't be sadden if I die here, My life was long miserable, and I won't be feeling the pain anymore. Just like my father's." Kaito smiled while Aoko cried even harder.
"No Kaito! I can't accept that! You're my best friend! You're my childhood friend! I trusted you with all of my heart! Why didn't you tell me about this?! I can't accept your death because you're important to me!" Aoko cried even harder.
"Kaito-kun, I'm sorry! I'm sorry for doing this to you! Toichi will kill me if he was still alive." Nakamori said in tears. For him, Kaito was like his son. He promised Toichi to take care of him while he was away.
"Nakamori-Keibu, Aoko, sorry for lying at you. I've already learned my lesson. I'm sorry for lying and keeping a secret behind your back. If I didn't kept it, You won't get involved on my wrongdoings." Kaito touched Aoko's cheek.
"No, I'm the one who should be sorry Kaito. It's my fault, If I took care of you, If I didn't leave you alone, your life won't be miserable as it was now." Aoko apologized again.
"Shh.. Aoko, Don't cry.. I hate to see you cry. I'm trying to prtect you, but I failed. Snake almost killed you. But now, he was going to pay the price now." Kaito said gently.
The crowd, including Kaito's classmates and teachers began to cry, even if it lowered their pride. Kaito's story was tragic and sad, he had suffered so much. It wasn't fair for him to take the risk of torment and pain. The Snake guy had left so many scars on his mind and soul, leading him to become the famous Kaito Kid, who was known for his great escape tricks.
Kid collapsed. Nakamori and Hakuba called the ambulance to keep Kid alive.
Hakuba tried his best to keep his cool, but he was losing it. To imagine, a member of the black organization wants to murder a thief? It was true that Kid had caused him headaches, but, he truly respected him for his bravery and courage to face his past enemy.
"What are you doing?! Stop staring and Help him out!" Nakamori said in anger and frustration. He was totally pissed off because of that Snake guy who tried to kill Kaito and Aoko.
"I will make that Snake pay!" Inspector Nakamori thought in anger. He was still insulting and cursing him to death for doing this to his daughter and Kaito as well.
"No more pain.." Kaito said on his mind.
The ambulance took Kaito's limp body inside and Aoko decided to come with them.
"Kaito Kid's identity was uncovered. He was Kaito Kuroba, the son of the world's famous magician and the first Kaito Kid, Toichi Kuroba and also the son of Chikage Kuroba, who was also known as the Phantom Lady in the past." The reporter said in the broadcast.
The older Kaito Kid's fans know Phantom Lady. She was one of the worst criminals that existed in the japanese government. She was a former member who was working with the black organization. She had killed many people, but because of Toichi Kuroba, also known as the first Kaito Kid had arrived, she changed.
In Somewhere..
"Kaito, I owe you a respect. Your kindness and love have save them all in the end. To be honest, you're quite smart to outnumber and fool me with your magic tricks." The 17 year old teenager who was holding his eyeglasses and had blue eyes smirked as was walking towards his house. His red bowtie was lighting his way back home.
Meanwhile in the Ekoda Hospital..
Kaito was in the operation room earlier. Now he was resting on his hospital room. Aoko was holding his hand. She wished that Kaito wakes up soon.
"Don't leave me Kaito, I can't lose you." Aoko said as she kissed Kaito on his cheek. Tears fell in her eyes as she kissed him once again.
Few weeks later..
"Ms. Nakamori, I don't think Kuroba will make.." The doctor said sadly, but he was suddenly interrupted by Aoko's frustration.
"He will wake up! Don't say that again!" Aoko cried and ran away. She headed towards Kaito's room.
"Kaito please.. Wake up.." Aoko said as she planted a kiss once again, but this time, on his cold lips. Aoko didn't notice that a single tear fell from Kaito's right eye. She took something on the bathroom.
"From now on..his lights will come up.."
"From now on, he was waiting for tonight."
"From now on, the darkest days was lighted."
"From now on, he won't tell any dirty lies."
"From now on, his promise won't be broken."
"From now on, he will never leave her alone."
"From now on, his long cold heart changed."
"From now on, his life will be changed."
As Aoko walked back to Kaito's bed..
"Ao.. ko?" Kaito's eyes stirred as he opened it up. His vision was blurry at first, then he saw Aoko, who was crying and sobbing loudly.
"Kaito?! Kaito!" Aoko sobbed loudly.
Nakamori, Hakuba, Keiko and Akako heard her shout and they rushed into the room. They were shocked to see Kaito alive and awake at the same time. Nakamori and Hakuba smiled while Keiko and Akako cried in joy.
Aoko felt her spirit comeback once again.. Her heart was alive once again.
Few months later..
Aoko and Kaito became together. Chikage was happy to see her only son alive. She cried in joy and thanked God for saving him.
One night, Kaito secretly became Kaito Kid once again. He will missed his old self again. This time, he was with Aoko. The two sat in the moonlight.
"I'm sorry Aoko, for lying.. It was hard, but.." Kaito apologized sadly.
"I understand, Kaito." Aoko comforted him.
"Thank you, Aoko.." Kaito smiled at her.
The two stared at a moment..
As the night goes deep..
"Kaito you know what.. I.. love.. you.." Aoko confessed as she blushed and kissed his cheeks at the same time. Kaito was blushing so hard, but he needed to confess as well.
"I also love you too, Aoko." Kaito smiled as he kissed her back. The moonlight that resembles their love and light towards each other. They won't leave each other again. They will be happy together and after this, they lived in peace.
The people may have forgotten about the final heist, but they won't forget how Kod had saved them all from the horrors of the dark pasts and present. Kaito was recognized as a hero to the world, instead of a worst thief. His kindness and love had saved them all in the end. They won't forget the Kaito Kid they knew and he will be always alive on their hearts.
The End..
Hello Guys, so that's it. Kaito's love and kindness had saved them all, without it, Snake was still out there and continuing to kill many innocent people. A person's kindness will save other people from the horrors of the darkest days.
