~Me Because of You~

"S-S-Shifted?" Kai gaped, shaking his head, fixing his earpods in ears, as he spoke on other line,

"When? How? Where Julia!" Kai panicked, getting up from the plush sofa he was seated upon before the air conditioner in his home.

"I don't know okay!" She snapped, as usual. But that didn't affect him. He was used to it.

"What..." Kai whispered in sheer confusion,

"It's a girls' hostel, Kai! I j-just know my room number. I don't even know the address! Or the location!" Julia stuttered horrifically on line, "And it's too congested here! And I don't even have a roommate; I can't even talk to someone,"

"Babe..." Kai appeased her, "You don't worry, I'll get to you, promise," his voice came out gentle and firm but Julia wasn't quelled,

"We don't have college for fucking one whole week! How will I live here for seven days!" She snarled angrily, Kai's ears twitched at her pitch. Her anger was almost legit. She met him last today after college in Junior's canteen, since Kai was her junior. After the typical lovey-dovey cuddling and guzzling the junkies for an hour in canteen and, exchanging red-hot-wet smooches when everyone left, she left for her house. To her shock, her mom has packed her things, all of it and launched her with a declaration that she would be sent to a hostel for a month since she and Raul were going out of town on the account of her grandmother's death. Julia was shocked to hear about the death, but that didn't matter or budge her. Raul was close to Granny, not she. But the thing was SHE WAS GOING TO A HOSTEL! She never stayed ever before in a hostel. Before she could protest and clear her addled and jammed mind, she was before her new hostel and given her keys and shown her room. The warder helped her settle inside her room.

She didn't even have enough recharge in her phone. She quickly arranged her things, dusted her bed, changed the sheets, cooked something for herself, ate and then... grumbled and cried for some time. When nothing changed and the walls didn't move, she opened the window to peep out. Her room was on second floor, not enough to take a jump. The hostel warden was an old strict and nasty lady, guarding and patrolling strictly through the corridors and over the main gate. Julia definitely had no chance, no reason, and no possibility of eluding from this place.

"What are you doing right now?" Kai asked, cocking a brow,

"I'm sulking. Want to hear more?" Julia sneered, keeping the phone on speaker, removing her clothes to get changed- since she spilled water on her tee that she had to drink.

He coughed, "I'm coming to see you. Count on me," Kai smirked,

"How are you going to do? Will you track me?" She pushed her arms into the sleeves,

"Tracking... sounds good but I'm not sure how it works." He went to his bedroom, ignoring his mom calling him to join at lunch. He pulled out a great grey colored tea-pot like magic-lamp,

"Kai! You're gone nuts! Go and eat something first!" She screamed and cut his call.

He flinched at her loudness but sighed and tossed his phone on the bed. His room was slightly dark, curtains close, greyness hovering in ambiance, coldness in air sinking. He glanced around and rubbed the exterior of the lamp. In another second, an apparition evolved from the opening of spout of the lamp and grinned at him.

The apparition had grey-white colored hair in ponytail and a folded moustache, wearing a traditional Japanese kimono. It seemed old and torn.

"What's up this time, Kai?" The spirit yawned,

"Ryu, since how long were you sleeping?" Kai asked, "I need your help. We have to find Julia. C'mon find out and tell me till I finish my lunch."

"Ah, Mistress Julia. Master, are you planning to surprise her?"

"Find out before I finish my lunch-"

"Answer me, first." Ryu folded his arms flippantly,

"Just because Dranzer got married to Dragoon and left me, doesn't mean you'll pester me with your presence-"

"But I was just asking-"

"Find out yourself, Ryu! Now go and find out! You call yourself a genius. Prove it, then." Kai kept the lamp on the table and went for lunch.

...

"How are your studies going, Kai?" His mom asked,

"As usual." Kai shrugged. He was in 2nd year, medicine. And he constantly needed help from Julia to explain him theories and practical stuff. She was in 4th Year and the fieriest, hot and of course prominent senior of their college. No one dared to mess up with her. So it was also natural that Raul faced no problem alongside with her. However, Raul never knew the intimate relationship her sister had with Kai. He was always busy with syllabus, practical work, sports, libraries, games.

"Study well and concentrate. You're getting idle these days," His mom remarked. Kai coughed. He couldn't deny though. He was a bright student from the first year, scored highest in class always.

But... everything changed since Freshers' party- He met Julia. No, it was not love at first sight. Julia didn't do anything. She simply called him. He came, noticing her emerald eyes shining in fire and intensity. She asked him his name, he answered, and then she ragged him badly. Kai was slightly docile and since she was his senior, he couldn't fight or reject her orders. Kai faced extreme embarrassment that day, when he had to fake- propose his classmate, Hilary and give her a red rose. His batchmates clapped and whistled for him. Julia enjoyed. The queerness about the situation which had become was- Julia rarely ragged, but this time, she was after Kai. She almost irked him on daily basis and he had to see her often. However, things changed and she eventually fell for him.

As bold she was, she confessed him in open ground in front of all her classmates, seniors and juniors. Kai was staggered and fazed that moment.

After that, she didn't pester him or disturbed; she waited for his reply. He took a week, but his heart was already taken by her, he couldn't help it. He met her after college and confessed her back. Shy and nervous he was, mostly because she was his senior, but still tried to be stoic and calm. Much to his shock, she frenzily and wildly kissed him right in the canteen. Everyone present there gasped and closed their eyes, hiding their faces in palms. Kai was scarlet red in that mouth-locked position. Soon everyone started running away in chaos.

Within a week of confession, stuttering talks, and his nervous romancing, she dared him to consummate his love. He almost died there. He was just a new student here and he wanted things to go slow, but she? She was a wild cheetah. Nonetheless, he agreed. Choosing a cozy hotel room, they had their first make-out. Passionate and slow it was- but once that stage was over, Kai lost all his nervousness. He had an equal hand in their relationship. Still, she continued to be sharp and fiery, yelling at him sometimes but was also caring and gentle at him at times. He slept with her multiple times after that, much to his own desires. She almost lost her upper hand in his growing wild love in their relationship. A few things that he never realized- she always cared for him, in all ways she could. She always fought against anyone who troubled him or were pestering him. He was conscious all times to keep her contended with him and obeyed her all times. He got used to her screaming, ordering him but that didn't stop him from faltering his love for her.

2nd year was hectic. He was trying to cope. As a young guy, he never refrained from Julia, spending time with her, ignoring his academics at times. That got him slightly slacked off. Often Julia had to avoid seeing him for days, and tell him to concentrate on his studies. He never denied her. The process would go on for one week, two weeks or three, but more? He would grab her without her permission, and go to deep secluded forest with a pack of protection. Make-outs under the tropical trees' shades, beneath the scrunched leaves, in the midst of birds chirping didn't bother them. It felt exhilarating.

That phase passed too. They attained stability in their relationship, maintaining a proper schedule of studies, distancing themselves and trying to balance themselves amidst the college academics. Kai has finally attained control on himself and there was some peace in college.

"Its holidays mom, give me a rest," Kai sighed,

"Hn, one week. What are your plans?" She asked. Kai shifted his eyes from the dining-table to his mom. His eyes widened to see Ryu hovering in air and smirking. His mom couldn't see Ryu. The spirit was only visible to Kai. He was slightly nervous at this,

"I've got some work now, see ya at dinner mom!" He got up quickly and ran out of house after taking his phone. Despite his mom yelling at him, he couldn't help it.

'Ryu was a useless genie'- Kai concluded after they visited multiple girls' hostels of the town and got kicked out by the wardens who yelled at them, bet them with sticks, threw stones, shoes at them. They still couldn't find out Julia. It was dark, nightfall coming, streetlights flicking and Kai was tethering down the empty lanes in tiredness, drowsiness, beat blue after all the fiasco Ryu had him involved in, mistakenly.

"Oh Kai, this time I'm sure we will search for Julia's hostel, trust me-"

"Only if I hadn't trusted you, I would have found her myself without you long ago," Kai said darkly, smiling gloomily. The genie wasn't affected, the sticks, stones simply passed through the apparition without hitting him.

"Is it paining?" Ryu cooed,

"Not at all, it feels so good," Kai seethed, turning away and trudging in some direction of a possible hostel. They entered inside finally. They were standing in the circular ground enclosed by floors of rooms above them. The ground was barren slightly, dark, isolated and eerie. Kai was slightly shivering in cold, because he was hungry since he hasn't even eaten his lunch properly and he was very much beat since then.

"Which is her room?" Kai whispered, glancing around nervously to check if any warden wouldn't come popping at them, outshining them with their kendo practice upon them.

Ryu was busy reciting some chants, trying to precisely guess which her room was. They knew it was on second floor but Julia didn't say him her room number, nor there was some proper identification of it.

"Just wait, will you?" Ryu grunted and continued circling his finger round and round and mumbling the never-ending chants,

"This time, please, don't mess," Kai gnawed his lips and twisted his face in pure anger. Minutes passed but Ryu was still chanting. That got to Kai; he was snarling, seething, half-conscious, drowsy in his anger. He was staring murderously at Ryu. Ryu nervously moved back and stepped back, teetering.

"WHAT KIND OF GENIE YOU'RE! I will tell Dranzer to get you married to that old woman who's 1000 years old!" Kai's winded voice was still rasp and sharp. Ryu flinched, "Listen, l-listen, Kai. I know which Julia's room is," Ryu stammered. Before Kai could literally order him and transport him back to lamp or communicate mentally with Dranzer or curse him, Ryu threw his hands, unfurling them, sending Kai flying above in air disastrously where he ended up whooshing magically into a room of 2nd floor without smashing the door or snapping at it. There was no sound. The door was perfect, allowing Kai to pass right through its substance inside it.

Ryu immediately vanished in air and settled inside the cozy lamp in Kai's bedroom, sleeping again.

Kai was thudded on the neat white-tiled floor, unconscious and recovering from his drowsy spelled state. He struggled to get up and opened his eyes. He lifted his chin to see the girl standing in front of him. Instead of receiving screaming, yelling, loud skittish havoc from his girlfriend, he was greeted with confounded silence.

"Julia, I finally found you," he whispered in his tipsy-like state. He wasn't drunk, but Ryu's magic messed his screws and normal conscience.

"Julia?" Hilary bit her lips, addled and non-plussed by the person before him.

She was confused- and slightly flushed too. She had ignored him for two years. True, she had a crush on him since he proposed her on Freshers' party. That time, she didn't know it was a part of Julia's ragging. She was overwhelmed, blushing at his gestures. Plus that red rose. That did it, he stole her heart. But he didn't know. After weeks, she realized that it was Julia who made him do. He wasn't intentional there that time.

It took few months but she moved on. It became her habit to notice him, steal glances whenever he went out of class with Julia, sneaked at her. But still, her heavy heart was healing and quelling. She was doing good, outdoing him in academics despite being a year younger than him in age. He ignored her in competitions. That didn't matter. To him, only Julia mattered. Spending time with her mattered, loving mattered.

Now when he was here, in her room, and God knows how he came here. Because clearly the door is locked. The balcony door is open though... So was he drunk enough to mistake her room for Julia's and sneak up through the wrong balcony?
But wait, he wasn't drunk. He was under Ryu's mistaken spell. That got him still seeing Hilary's face as Julia.

"I got to you, finally. Told ya, didn't I?" Kai smirked through his heavy eyes, engaged in husky-tipsy moments as he instinctively kissed her on forehead. She almost gasped and shivered. This was so much and so sudden to take. A crush that was reviving was unhealthy.

"Sorry, I guess you're mistaken. I'm Hilary, not J-Julia." She said softly pushing him away, her cheeks heating up.

"What are you saying, Julie? Are you angry with me, still?" Kai shook his head and cupped her face. His magic-casted eyes still looked Hilary but he thought that she was Julia.

"Angry..." Hilary was puzzled, "No I mean, I'm not your girlfriend, dude! You should leave." Hilary veered her face from his hold.

"Babe... this is unfair. I've been beat to find you. Now you are refusing to be my girlfriend." He sighed and frowned and looked at her.

"What's wrong with you?" She was slightly irked now, "I'm your classmate, H for Hilary. Not Julia."

"Alright. Let's keep your name Hilary, if that's what you've liked. Might be you want to change your name, but that's not stopping me-"

"Will you go or shall I call the warden!" She snapped at him,

"I dare you," he smirked coolly and wrapped his arms around her back,

"What the fuck is wrong with you..." she cooed horrifically.

"The fuck. Yes, right there," he looked at her clean bed. Hilary gulped, blushing in hundred shades of ripe tomatoes.

I was gonna sleep,
But you walked right through the door
Caught up in my mind
Couldn't think straight anymore
The way you held me down like an anchor
Put a weight on my heart that I never felt before

"Kai, look, I-I am not..." she stuttered with heart beating, "Okay, you look tired. Sleep now. We'll talk tomorrow," her voice came out ghastly as Kai nuzzled and smooched on her side of neck, pulling down the loose sleeve of her night top.

"You've become thin, Julie," he whispered during the kisses. Her mouth was wide open, froze and unnerved. Of course, she was not sexy or muscular as Julia was.

"I'll e-eat well..." she wriggled in his senseless, blood-chilling kisses which had trailed down her shoulder and arm.

"Hn, better." He moved back. She quickly pulled her tee-shirt's sleeve on shoulder back, embarrassed from head to toe. She wanted to shout and yell at him, smack him for once and chase him out of her room, but her heart was refusing all of it. Unknowingly, she wanted him, even if it was not right, even if he thought that she was Julia. That didn't matter. Her heart didn't want, but her feminine hormones were dancing on the edges of her veins, outdoing her thumping heart.

"I need to go to bathroom." She mumbled, her eyes lowered on floor. She swore that she will never come out of bathroom till tomorrow morning. Probably his drunkenness would be gone by then.

"Very smart, but no use," he clicked his lips, and easily lifted her, splaying her on the bed easily. Before her mind could process what was happening, he had removed his tee and switched off the lights, even the lamp.

"You... you're not going to sleep with me. Are you?" Her cracked and utterly scared voice vibrated,

Turn around, walk away
'Cause I know that if you stay here
I'll lose my self control
Go before it's too late
There's no way that you can stay here
I've got no self control

"Nice joke," Kai said airily, switching on the lamp. Her ruby eyes widened, and lips shyly smiled in nervousness. Her crush was right on her top, caging her under him, shirtless with all the kind of packs she'd imagined. Rosy blushes shone on her milk cheeks.

"I never noticed you were this beautiful..." he whispered, in a genuine tone, pondering why. According to him- He had slept with her so many times, then why he had to conclude that she was more beautiful than he had seen her before? She bit her lips and kept her fists on her chest, to prevent his chest from colliding completely against her. She was sweating, feeling the air in the room going drained into a magical hole, that was making her gasp frantically. Her heart was thudded again and her trembling fingers clutched the sheets, toes furling up. He leaned and locked his mouth with her hers, slowly kissing her. For a moment, her world froze. She couldn't believe this was happening. But he was not going to stop- knowing this, she freed her fingers and raked on his neck and kissed back. She closed her eyes instinctively as tongues intertwined, softly savoring each other.

"I love you," she said when his lips parted. Even if she knew that there was no use of her confession. In his eyes, she was not Hilary, she was Julia. Still that didn't stop her from speaking her long-hidden confession. In one corner of her heart, she had a crush on him, which she probably knew was more than that, but as time passed, she had crushed that crush. Now it just unfolded altogether.

"I love you too, Julia." Kai said calmly, genuineness radiating from his voice.

Hilary still gave a smile; even it was just a dry one.

His mind was spellbound by Ryu such that in whichever girl's room he had got into, he believed that it was Julia. He was beyond excited to start the session, discovering that tonight's Julia-version seemed prettier. Because, well... Hilary IS prettier than Julia.

Pushing away all the heavy pessimistic real thoughts and facts aside, she wanted to be his Julia for one night. She wanted to be the girl he loved, even if she wasn't her.

"Are you ready?" He asked her, staring deeply in her eyes. She flushed and heated up. With this amount of sudden love that he was raining upon her, she felt the heart-jolts and bloodchills. Not wanting to disappoint him, she nodded. Her heart refused, but her mind accepted, her body responded to him.

"What's wrong? You okay?" He asked worriedly,

"Yeah, go on."

Under the orange lampshade, he progressed to undress her, printing cozy smooches down her jaw, neck, shoulders, and palms. She was sweating bullets, as if she were in a crime-scene. Biting the strap of her bra, he tore it down and pulled it away. Without any comment, he kneaded the squishy mounds. Her lips trembled and she had to do everything in her control not to express her pleasures verbally. Calloused palms groped her shoulders, navel; fingers meddling her belly button.

"Slow... s-slow down," she breathed in gasps.

"Okay," he slowed down, progressing to remove her tracks, and quickly undoing his pants as well. Removing the final clothing barriers, he positioned himself upon her properly to thrust. She was slightly hesitant. She never knew how this worked, she was inexperienced, unlike him; who probably had done this multiple times.

Her body went cold in the overflow of carnal hormones, threatening her pleasure-point from breaking. He grappled her thighs, separating them, nuzzling into her groin and pecking gently. She began moaning slowly. That got him aroused. He pulled back his head and kissed her pulse point on neck, distracting her while he thrusted into her pink cavern. Her nails dug into his skin of back. He was hot. Her body arched upwards, and she was trying her best to let him in quickly. She swerved her head on side as he planted kisses on her side of throat, while cumming into her.

That shocked her and got her alert. She had no idea which pills were to be taken in morning. Chapters of contraceptives came dancing in her fuzzy mind. She could remember few names but not clearly. Probably the pharmacology reader still was in her cupboard. She should get to that and ask him to get the pills.

"Kai..." she whispered. He smiled, glancing at her. He was finally done from the love-making session. Her head rested on his neatly folded arm, both under the warm blanket.

"Let's sleep now," he mildly yawned, draped an arm on her waist, and fell asleep. But she couldn't sleep that night. This was probably the first and the last night of her with him. She caressed his cheeks, combing his hair with her fingers, and just gazing at him sleeping peacefully.

"Lucky Julia..." she pressed a kiss on his lips softly, a hot blob of tear sliding down her cheek.

Kai groaned as he struggled to get up from bed. The realization hit him that he was naked. He veered his eyes open and looked into the unfamiliar ambiance.

"Where is Julia?"

A clean and neatly dressed brunette stood in front of the bed, leaning against a pole, looking airily at him.

"H-Hilary?" His eyes widened, addled mind dancing in super-confusion.

"You're in my room. Not Julia's," she said calmly. Kai frowned, twisting his lips to say something. Events of last night of Ryu sending him into a room flying came into his mind.

"You mean I was in your room last night?" He horrored.

She nodded, "You can smell the air. I've to clean the sheets, get off and wear your clothes." She turned and pulled a new bedsheet from her suit. White translucent curtains swayed in loud breezes. Her eyes moistened in legit realizations. She gave a terse smile to herself and ignored. Of course, he was very much conscious and real now.

"You can't be serious..." he was starkly glaring at her in big shock.

"I'm serious. I tried to stop you but... couldn't. You claimed I was Julia." She pressed her lips into a nostalgic smile.

"No..." he slapped his forehead and got off from the bed. She went to balcony while he changed.

"I'm done,"

"You may leave. It's early. Warden will not catch you... Umm, can you get me Levonorgestrel pills? I think I need it." She said, scratching her collar,

"Oh," he furrowed his brows and gave a nod, "I'm sorry. Yeah I'll get for you," He had no guts right now to talk anything with her about it. He couldn't even remember the events of last night. But he had a strong intuition that he had messed up badly. Plus he wasn't even sure if this was the hostel where Julia stayed actually.

Hilary took the tablets at the door and he left without a word.

Ryu had managed at home, creating false illusion of Kai sleeping. Therefore there was no drama or chaos at his home. He quietly entered his room and grabbed the magic-lamp and rubbed it.

"Master Kai, good mor-"

"Your mind has lost its all screws, congrats!" Kai gritted his teeth at the apparition.

"What-"

"You had sent me last night to someone else's room, moron!" Kai smirked evilly, "I'm getting rid of you now, because you almost ruined my life!" Kai panned,

"No, no! Forgive me!-" Ryu kept on babbling but Kai focused his mind and concentrated on the spiritual aspect of his soul, creating purple waves in room and causing the apparition to vanish and get vanquished from his sight. Ryu was now permanently locked in the lamp.

Now, until Dranzer returned and communicated with Kai and got him cool down, nothing could get Ryu out of the lamp, he was locked in grey prisons which were made of smoke. Kai was the owner of the lamp. The lamp was given to him by Voltaire and nobody knew about it ever. Kai had kept it a secret. Voltaire had given him to make his life easier, so that he didn't get stuck in chaos and problems of life and had some company. Dranzer was the original genie of Kai and was very close, obedient, and intelligent and solved many problems whenever Kai was in trouble. However there was a similar guy, named Tyson, who had a lamp too, and he was the owner of the genie, Dragoon. Though Tyson and Kai were good friends of childhood and knew about their secrets of lamp of each other, life got them parted at ten years of age. Years later, Dranzer fell in love Dragoon and got married. But before Dranzer left, he promised that he would come back after ten years, and before going, he had sent another genie for his master, which was Ryu apparently. Kai had his rights on genie and he could dismiss them if they deteriorated in their services. And currently, Kai was riled up and done with this genie who was only making things tougher for him.

"Why aren't you lifting my call? What's wrong?" Kai panned his girlfriend who had been ignoring his called since last two hours. He had been standing in the canteen, waiting for her after college was over,

"Don't call me next time, Kai. I'm blocking your contact anyway," Julia said on phone, her voice terse but slightly painful.

"Why-"

The call was cut before he could speak. The next time he tried calling her, he realized that she'd successfully blocked his contact. Does she know about last night and Hilary?

That was his first thought. He slapped his forehead. He had no idea of what explanation or justification he would give her for that. He rushed to an internet-online shop, and traced Julia's location through her last call.

"Thanks," he paid the investor- tracer, handing some amount and darted on his bike to Julia's hostel and this time, he was lucky, there was no warden. He didn't know her room number but he eventually got to her,

"You?" Julia's mouth hung open seeing him in front of her. She was neatly wrapped in her white bathrobes,

He simply walked in, but she slammed the door on his face. "Let me get in, Julia," he groaned, engaged in a tug of war of pushing and pulling the door. He finally smashed the door open and got in, closing it behind them.

"What's wrong with you?" He yelled at her, shaking her arms harshly in his anger. Some green colored waves surrounded him. It happened all the time when his anger crossed a level. Julia shuddered in his hold for the first time. After thinking for few seconds, she brashly pushed him and escaped his hold.

"Get the fuck out of my room, now. Don't force me to call the warden," She snapped loudly at him, her emerald eyes blazed in some emotions,

"Why are you talking me this way! What's wrong with you-"

"Yeah, something is wrong with me. Stay away from me, Kai. I'm warning you," She turned, swinging the towel bun on her head,

"W-What happened… Is everything okay?" He stretched his palm and held her shoulder. She shrugged and bashed him away,

"Yes, perfect." She exaggerated,

"Then why are you not talking-"

"I'm tired of you, done with you. I want freedom. So you might consider taking the courtesy and setting me free." She faced him and said heartlessly,

Kai was baffled for a second, "Why… why are you doing this?" His heart was getting nauseous and giddy in heartbreak,

"My wish, my life…" She shrugged flippantly,

"H-how could you… Were you simply playing all along-" he puckered,

"Yup," she removed her hair towel and began drying her hair in carefree manner. He clenched his teeth, the dark green waves surrounding him darkening and almost on the brink of shooting at her.

He stood, trembling angry lips before they would say out,

"You're such a heartless woman, a complete whore. Bloody bitch!" He snarled at her,

She squirmed at his words, "Hm, yeah. Leave now." She hissed without facing him. That careless behavior royally pissed him, he stomped and pulled by her by hair and gave her death-glares he could muster up,

"You didn't do this right, Julia Fernandez, I will never forgive you, slut." His fingers grappling her hair send throes in her head, yet she was quiet, only seething while he crushed her with his weight, against the wall. Glaring thunderously for few more seconds, he threw her and turned, the green waves casting some painful effect through her skin. She whimpered as he left, rubbing her arms and head which he had bruised with his harsh hold.

He didn't say a word. Simply left and gulped the gutted feeling down.

I feel the desperation crawling up my veins
And it makes my heart pound,
Couldn't we just go back to before?
You put this love in danger
Treat me like a stranger
Nothing like the one I used to know
I wanna break the ice
But you keep acting cold
You gotta say something

Six Years Later:

(Kai's POV)

Hi, I'm Kai Hiwatari,

I'm 27 years old, married, having a gorgeous wife by my side and a year old kid. These days, I'm slightly tired by Gou sometimes. He's teething and doesn't let me or Hilary rest it. We have to go to hospital every alternate day. Hilary works non-stop, for me, for Gou. She falls sick at least once in two months by her workload but that never stopped her from servicing us. I'm lucky husband.

She's simple. She snaps sometimes but by the end she listens to me. I don't have to repeat anything more than twice. There she comes,

"Kai, take your coffee, it's getting cold," she comes running and hands me my coffee. She turns to run back in kitchen but I grasp her wrist. She rolls her mesmerizing ruby eyes, places a searing kiss on my lips and then fades away into hallway, where the crib is kept and Gou never stops from taking all the attention from his mother. I can't stop loving her, have been married since three years now. But she says that responsibilities comes first, and sticks to it. Maybe she's right, maybe I'm slacking somewhere. But whatever it is, she never stops to love me the same, keeping all my faults aside in a box without thinking ever to open it. I don't think I had any woman by my side who was so gentle with me. Yes, Julia was one, but not gentle. She was caring. And no one could be as caring as her. She was my first love, and will always be, but she's not in my fate anymore, not in my life anymore, not in this world anymore.

I've always been afraid
My best years have passed
They say the good old days
Well they never last
I've been running into you in my head
In between, what could of been
Everybody seems to leave
Bittersweet memories

I and Hilary married after graduation immediately. That day, I left Julia's room after she showed her bitch-side and I threw her through my green-waves. That evening, Dranzer returned. Probably she sensed my downtrodden and dejected conditions. She consoled me spiritually after I went ballistic about Julia, screaming and yelling in my room for the entire night.

However the next day, my frazzled heart was better. I went to college and attended classes. Saw Julia, but ignored her. She did the same. It was AIDS day and college was flooding with patients and free check-ups were done. I had to begrudgingly go to the department where she was posted and she had the nerve to check me up. Later evening, she handed my reports. Of course, I was negative.

I saw Hilary were in the lab. She gave me sullen and broken looks whenever our eyes met. At other times, she turned her face away, refusing to look at me. I felt as if she was hurt by me. I forgot what I did with her and to add to my rotten mind, I didn't even say her sorry properly. I apologized her the next day- very properly- called her in a decent restaurant, she came; kept a bouquet of flowers and wrote a sorry letter for her. Dranzer helped me write the letter. And fortunately, it worked. Things settled between us. I didn't wonder how it could have been easy on her that she forgave me, but she did.

Hilary and I didn't become friends immediately. We stayed away and almost avoided each other all times to keep the peace. Next year, when Julia's internship was coming to an end and my heart was still not really over her. I'd managed to keep my mind distracted from her and that almost worked. Academics were fine, but the fact that she would be leaving added to my inevitable anxiety.

Those days, Hilary was my constant supporter and consoler. I didn't know of what and who I was becoming. I wanted to move on, be real. She helped me through my emotional turmoil and helped me move on. I think she was my first friend in the college, because Julia was my senior and then, an enemy, and then a girlfriend. Honestly, I didn't have a friend. But Hilary was different; there was calmness, gentleness, patience and compassion in her. I fell for her gradually, never knew how. With time, I forgot Julia's imprints on my heart; Hilary became more important for me. I was only me because of her.

"Days pass Kai, but time doesn't stop. It heals everything," she used to say,

"But I'm not feeling it, Hils,"

"You've so much patience, but since your wounds are deeper, you need to learn to have more patience-"

"How will I!"

"With me, you will learn everything, don't worry. I'm not leaving you anytime, hmph," She used to chuckle and pat me. Unknowingly I'd her heart racing by keeping my chin on her shoulder, playing with her hair.

"Hn."

I never treated her more than as a close friend until one day when I'd decided that I'd propose her. The first time I'd proposed her was a fake one, a dare it was. This time, it was reality and a big truth.

I still remember that the canteen was lighted sparkly that day, I had decorated the table with her favorite flower: Tiger lilies

You took this open heart of mine

Fixed me up and made it right
Lost and cold but you love me still
Every space I couldn't fill
You give me all I ever needed
Half a heart and you complete it
Part of me I never knew, oh
I'm only me because of you

It was noon but I still lit the candles and wrote a decent letter of confession- again, under Dranzer's supervision. Hilary was so thrilled and delighted that day. Of course, she reciprocated back, and the rest of the day went with talking, cuddling and laughing in canteen, and reminiscing about her past time where she admitted her crush on me ever since Fresher's party two years back.

I see those tears in your eyes
I feel so helpless inside
Oh, love, there's no need to hide
Just let me love you when your heart is tired

The biggest turn of events happened that night. I was sneaking in Hilary's hostel at night and I mistakenly passed through a room that was open up ajar. I immediately recognized the sniffling sounds coming from in. It was Julia. I wondered what she was doing around in Hilary's hostel. She was talking to Raul. I know eavesdropping is wrong, so I moved on. But she said my name amidst her cries. That stopped me.

"Kai moved on, with someone else," She sobbed,

"He had to. He thinks you cheated him, sis. He's not at fault," Raul whispered,

"I didn't cheat on him. I had to leave him! His life was at stake with me-"

"You should have told him you tested positive for AIDS," Raul trembled,

"I can't. He will not leave me anytime in that case. I tested him today, he's negative. I'm glad he didn't come to my room that night." She looked despondent and broke, ultimately crippled,

"You'd have been careful with patients, Jules. You'd open scar on wrist last year on AIDS' day and you carelessly tested all patients. Anyways, now don't tell him anything. He is happy with Hilary. He proposed her today-"

"I know, don't remind me." She snapped, "I don't want to infect him. He will come back to me if he knows that I'm suffering and will die in few months-"

That did it. I forgot everything else that I hated her and that I'd proposed Hilary today. I slammed the door and trudged towards her. Without a word more, I slapped her on face in my crippled anguish. Raul was shook. There were freckles on her cheeks. I never cried in my life like I did that day- with equal screaming, yelling and accusing her with all of my aggravated heart. I hugged her at the end, with the protectiveness and depth that was never there to this degree ever in our love. There was nothing more to it; nothing more to toil my soul; I kept her caged into my arms, for hours, never letting her go. I couldn't even remember the last time we had slept together. I fell asleep in her arms, eyes welled up and swollen.

The next day I woke, I was empty in her room. The warden chased me away with brooms but I never found her. She was nowhere. Also, I didn't hide anything from Hilary. This girl was epitome of kindness and brave love; she helped me four months in searching for Julia- potentially endangering our love. We didn't find her. Nope.

"Where she could be, Hils," I used to ask very dejectedly, worried.

"We will find her. Let's keep trying," she used to encourage me,

"Why is your heart so big… how can you love me. Is there no pain?" I mused,

"No; no pain. When I'm healing your heart, this pain is beautiful, it's sweet. Because your heart belongs with me,"

You show me how to love my flaws, oh, no
And the person I've not met before
You give me all I ever needed
Half a heart and you complete it
Part of me I never knew, oh
I'm only me because of you

Never knew what I should have answered her back, her words were so unique and heart-touching, leaving me speechless. I simply used to hug her and kiss her forehead, telling what I can; simple three words that still were honest from my heart, "I love you," Still.

Two days before Julia's demise, I got a letter and ticket. The letter was from Raul, and the ticket was to Florida, from Moscow. Hilary pushed me to go. Julia's last days were excruciating, broke me once again when I saw her. I spend the two days reminiscing, recalling every memory of ours, talking, crying and saying the last goodbyes.

"Don't leave Hilary. Don't break her heart. She had you running on her mind like you had me,"

"Yeah, I won't. I promise,"

Saw the first love of my life dead before my eyes, her coffin was taken, lifted by me, Raul, others. It was the most painful and deadest experience of my life.

Hn.

Anyway, mom agreed for my marriage with Hilary. Dranzer returned to me. I forgave Ryu, and relayed him to a guy named Daichi who Tyson suggested for. So genie Ryu is owed by Daichi now. Hilary knows everything. Honestly she is the first person I've shared my secret, knowing she's the most trustworthy person by my side. Also, my hysteric, frenzy state of romance was curtailed and controlled. She taught me control in our relationship, patience and gentleness. Probably sex wasn't everything in love. Julia never taught me. All I know is my mind is stable; heart is at peace when Hilary is next to me. Her love is just perfect: Neither less nor too wild. It's just the way it should be. I'm more of me only because of her.

Her loyalty gets to me, I get overwhelmed. Her selflessness makes me feel inferior, I feel I'm not enough, but again, that has never stopped her from telling me that she feels fortunate to get back her first love, that she still would go to all depths I couldn't think of for me. I honestly can't decipher the depths she could go to. She's dauntless when it comes to me.

I'm only me because of you, you know me better than I do.

When she was first pregnant, I used to say her I would name our baby girl Romika; and she argued with me with her motherly intuitions that our first kid would be a boy. And my, how right she was. She named him Gou. Now this time, I'm hoping we get a baby-girl. Despite being in her second trimester presently, she never stops her compassionate services for me and Gou.

Whenever I think of Julia, and see here Hilary working-up non-stop, I get crazy scared if something would happen to her. At such times, I pull her away in whatever busy state she is, takes her to room, switches off the light and lie next to her under covers, trying to find lost emeralds somewhere in her ruby eyes.

I never found any, and that always clinched me that I will never loose Hilary like I lost Julia.

A/N: Ahmn, so... here we go. Done! I'd tried my best to keep the length of the shot decent, but here it is, whatever. I hope you liked this story, Mistyflower. :'D Many Many happy returns of the day again in advance. See, I didn't ruin your OTP :P

Tell me what was your favorite, Julia's part or Hilary's part... or Ryu's part? XD Ryu as genie was cool, right? XD Pardon me for killing Julia though. So... there, I covered many genres possible in this shot. Hope this was one good ride for you all! XD

REVIEW. :D
